Hi, my Desire HD just automaticly turn on speaker everytime i call someone or recieved a all.
I did some searching and people say turn it off may help. I tried to turn it off (no fast boot) remove the battery, and it still turn on auto speaker
I also realized that sometimes when i turn it on, carpanel automaticly launch. So this might be some problem with carpanel. I turned off the auto option in "dock" section of the setting. Still doesnt change anything
I think the proximity sensor have problems. So i tried some test with it. It's still fine
Can someone help me with this? i even tried hard reseting my phone, it doesnt help
What rom are you using? I had the same problem once, reflashing fixed it.

I'm using stock ROM , when turn on it says the branding is SFR something. I havent rooted my phone or install any other ROM ever
Well then you could try recalibrating the g-sensor from settings -> display.

You may have flip for speaker switched on. Go to Settings>Sound and then under Incoming Calls uncheck the option for Flip for Speaker.

That was what I was aiming for. The g-sensor thinks the phone is upside down when in fact it isn't, recalibrating should fix this.

Hi all. thanks you so much for the support.
I've tried all the above, like turn off carmode, turn off flip for speaker...etc. take out the battery, sim card, sd card. It's still the same. After some digging, i found a topic about this on the DHD forum. They said it was an USB problem. i tried to plug it in to the USB and wiggle it a little bit and carmode/speaker auto turn on and off time to time. I was about to give up and when i'm on my way to return it. It suddenly come back to normal, no problem, tested with the USB cord. This is so weird !!!!! but i'm glad that it's gone away

My other half had exactly the same thing on her Desire, turns out it was dirt/ fluff in the USB socket!
I have the same problem with my DHD, since I don't have the warranty for my set, is there a way around it. Like some sort of app which turns the speakers off when u make or recieve the call. That can make my life easier.
This problem started with my phone too..I tried all above such as changing rom,usb trick, sim+battery+sd remove, calibrating g-sensor ...Only thing i did not try is changing radio..If it wouldnt help me ,i dont know what to do since i dont have a warranty too..Its really annoying..
DHD speaker selfactivating
Those problems /carmode and speaker selfactivating/ started shortly after OTA 2.3 update.I honestly don't remember how I've managed the carmode issue, but initially I was able to solve the speaker selfactivating by pulling out the headphones' plug during a phone call. That did it for a once or twice,as the result lasted for a day or two. After reading the tricks suggested above I tried them with no success until pulling out the phone end of the usb during a phone call while connected to the pc in debug mode.So far I've made a few calls and it looks OK.
I don't want to scary you, but when I had the same problem I found only one solution which works- restore to factory settings... Its a pity...
Hi ,
I have the same problem on my Desire Z. I have had the phone for more then 6 months.
I was running stock: - no problem !
I was running Virtuous Sense 1.0.1 for about 3 months: - no problem !
Yesterday I got this: it auto turns on the loud speaker when I answer or dial.
Flip for speaker is turned off, G-Sensor is calibrated !
I have updated to Virtuous Sense 1.0.2 : same problem !
I have wiped off everything and flashed Virtuous Unity 1.24.0 : TWICE !
Same problem
Sorry for posting under DHD, I did not want to open a new topic on DZ forum , but I will if I must, this is driving me crazy !
I have solved this after wiping all data and flashing the rom again (3rd try !
I told it, there is only one solution- restoring factory settings...
same problem without OTA
Got the same problem since 2 weeks without having done any changes at all to my DHD (still on 1.72.405.3)
+ Car panel starts randomly when connected to USB for charging
+ Phone speaker always on regardless what I tried before
So, I really do not think this is a rom related issue but more a "aging" problem like the GPS connectivity.
Anybody any idea, why the USB plug should be respobsible for this strange behaviour?
I'm not sure this is a USB related issue. It may be the audio jack. My problems started after unplugging the headphones while listening music, to answer the phone.
same problem here ...
My phone also started having the same problem since today morning!
EDIT: So I tried to remove battery, then cleaned the micro-usb port and the headphone port and the issue seems to have disappeared atleast for now. Don't want to do a factory reset as have too much data and apps on phone.
EDIT 2: So as it turns out it was Go SMS Pro problem that was causing the issue since its update 2 days back. The developer has released a new version in Market now claiming to solve the issue.
Anyways whatever issue it is hope it does not return.

I have a problem with my O2 XDA IIs, the sound works perfectly for playing MP3's etc both on the internal speaker and on the external plugin headset!
Where's the problem? I hear you asking!
Well, the sound does not work at all when in a call, the caller can not hear me and I can not hear them, although the call is connected OK. The only time I can hear the caller or be heard is if I plug in a sync cable or put the device in the sync station, at that point it works ok when in a call. I belive this to be a power requirement as it also works when I plug in the car charger?
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this problem, it has only been occuring for the last few days and I have not changed anything during this time which could have caused the problem... I know that's what they all say, but it's true this time!!!
Have you tried getting rid of unusual programs running in background? (Try 'Startup Manager' to take off some startup programs) or wait until any expert put a word on it.
There are only 2 entries starting and they are both the same as they have always been, the problem does appear to be quite random, as though every time I remove the sync cable something either happens or does not happen??
Does anyone know if there are any switches or anything attached to the sync connector on the phone which might be causing the problem?
I had a problem not unlike what you describe. It started after the battery ran very low on the phone while I was away from home.
The Phone would only work while in the cradle, and wouldn't work when out. The Speaker Phone function disappeared also.
I re-flashed the ROM.
I downgraded the ROM.
Re-formatted the storage card.
Took the Phone apart looking for a switch that might be stuck.
All to no avail.
Contacted Qtek who wanted me to return the phone.
So I tried one last thing before I gave up.
I left the phone with the Battery attached to run down again. (I left it for about a week)
re-charged the phone and its been fine ever since.
The conclusion I came too was it is a software register on the phone that was corrupted and the total drain of power cleared it.
When you ran the battery totally flat did this not clear all the stored data and installed apps etc? Only I'd rather not do that if I can avoid it?
Couldnt tell you sorry, I had already lost all data/apps with the reflash/formating.
No worries, if you hear or find anything elsewhere about this problem please let me know as this is getting very very annoying now!!!
Patch
Hi guys
This is a tipical problem of the BA. I had the same problem at the begining. This are the steps to solve it:
1. Backup your data (only contacts & meetings)
2. Hard reset of the device (press micro + On/Off button + reset)
3. Install the "PDA2k_UniDirectional_Patch.sa.cab" patch
4. Do not restore a whole backup (you will have the same problem again)
So it would be work fine. If you upgrade to the lastest ROM you will get this bug fixed too.
Good luck!
Hi i have the same problem and try a diferent approach.
Upgrade radio to version 1.15.
Problem appear to be solved.
I upgrade the rom yesterday, once i have change the board, and downgrade the rom.
What is this "PDA2k_UniDirectional_Patch.sa.cab" and what does it do exactly? As I'm already using the Radio 1.15.00.
Sound Patch
This file fixes the problem when you do not listen to the person who has called you.
You can download it from:

what ROM you running that you can't uninstall it through the standard settings?
you should be able to uninstall with Titanium. at least as a quick fix, but this may be indicative of another issue?

I had the same problem before. In settings you can disable car mode from launching but every time you use headphones the volume will be stuck because it thinks its in car mode. I think the problem came from a cheap charger that I was using it may have bent or affected the connections some way that made the phone think it was in a car dock. Even when it wasn't plugged into anything. I just bought a better charger and a few weeks later the problem just stopped. I have no idea. hope that helps

here is the thread i ran on this problem... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12027541#post12027541 turning on bluetooth seemed to work for me for most things. Even though the app doesnt launch it still thinks its in a dock so the problem will continue. My best advice is buy a quality charger. I got a dock charger so it charges upright and that seemed to fix everything. But Im not 100% sure. My other Ideas was that I keep my phone in my pocket at work. Im in construction so I thought sweat may have caused a moisture problem in the phone... gross but just a thought haha
Could also be a bad usb port, causing the phone to think it's docked.
ok i'm still struggling with this. maybe the usb port is going bad i have no idea. that being said is there any possible way to remove car mode all together? its not listed as a separate app in titanium but i imagine there must be a way to remove it.
I had the exact same issue and it turned out to be a bad usb port since it happens to be one of the other issues with certain hw versions.. like b spot on nova screens n excessive light leakage. I would recomend flashing a stock rom n taking it to a sprint repair center for an exchange unless you know a particular that is lenient on rooted phones. Good luck.

just to add to this, try flashing a different rom just for kicks, to see if anything changes.
edit: sorry, I guess this was a couple weeks old
Here's a stab in the wind (unless it only happens when you plug it in). The car mode application also responds to magnetic fields. Are there any magnets near where you usually have this problem? (Wallets and purses often have magnets in them)
Hello all,
Since this morning I have a problem with my DHD. When I turn off the screen, it is supposed to stay of until I turn it on again. Since this morning it starts turning itself on over and over again. Everytime I turn off the screen, it switches on in a few seconds. But once it's on it doesn't go off by itself. So I doubt if it is a problem with the on/off switch. What else could it be?
Edit:
This seems not to happen when the phone is connected with an USB cable. Either on my PC or on the regular power charger.

Have you installed anything new at all. Also have you restarted the phone since it began exhibiting this behaviour. Make sure it's a proper restart aswell by turning off fastboot i settings, it's under power settings I believe.
Thanks for your fast reply.
I have not installed anything new since two days ago. And the problem really started this morning. So I guess it is not caused by a program I installed a couple of days ago.
I have indeed restarted my phone. Also turned it off, toke the battery out and waited a couple of minutes (just to make sure it was really really really turned off) but this did not solve the problem.
The thing I find very weird is that it does not happen when the phone is attached to USB...

Maybe USB debugging, or possibly a short on the mini USB connector. What firmware do you have on the phone?
Android 2.3.3
HTC Sense 2.1
I also think it might have something to do with a short in the micro USB connector. Have cleaned when the phone was of. Seems to have solved the problem, but that's only for the past few minutes...

Darn! The problem still isn't gone. It appears to be less frequent than an hour ago, but the screen still turns on every couple of minutes
This is happening to me as well. The phone screen keeps coming on and then going off after a bit. This and randomly going into car mode and whenever I make or receive calls, the phone speaker is switched on automatically.

Indeed! I just noticed that too. I received a call and my speaker was turned on without me turning it on manual..
Update: my phone stopped switching its screen on automatically, but the problem with the speaker still is not gone.
My DHD has started showing both of these symptoms, ie, switching itself on from standby and the speaker phone being activated on incoming calls .. ever since I upgraded to Android 2.3. I'm not sure if this is something to do with 2.3, the DHD or T-Mobile (my provider) .. or a combination of all 3.
And an app called Car Panel keeps launching ..
Dave
I have this problem, too.
Before the last update of my DHD the backlight turns on in standby for some milliseconds. I saw only a short flash in standby.
After my update to version 2.3 this happens everey 7 minutes.
And the backlight is on for about 10 seconds, then turns off for the next 7 minutes.

I had the same problem going to settings/dock and turning off auto launch and then power setting turning off fast boot appears to work so far
When I try to turn on bluetooth, the icon and text indicates that the system is trying to turn it on. However, it never actually turns on and after a few minutes reverts to indicating that BT is shut off. This problem used to occur sporadically and sometimes seemed to be cured by rebooting. However it is now at the point that it just won't turn on no matter what. I did the requisite googling and found nothing very definitive. It looks like I may have to do an exchange on the unit but I would rather not go to the effort of unrooting this unit and rooting the replacement.
Any suggestions of things to try beyond what I have indicated above?

Are you using an experimental ROM or stock rooted?
Jedi Mind Trick XI (although the problem has been growing worse and has happened across the last several JMT versions). I will give a stock rooted ICS a try.
I just tried a stock rom and the problem persisted.
I have the same problem
I have scoured the net looking for an answer, any answer, to this problem. It seems that a few people are having the same issue. But before it is ever answered, some dip$#!t always jumps in and says "I have the same problem, my phone won't connect to my car." Then the conversation goes off into other people that can't connect their bluetooth to their car or their headset- or their cat... That is not the same problem!!!
I cannot turn my bluetooth on unless I soft reset the phone. Even after I've gotten the bluetooth working, if I restart my phone the bluetooth turns off and when you try to turn it on, it says "Turning on Bluetooth..." It cycles for about a minute and a half and then goes back to "To see devices, turn on Bluetooth."
I bought this phone on Amazon for what appeared (at the time) to be a reasonable price. Since then, I believe that I have read at least one of the seller's post about bluetooth not coming on (no proof, just an educated guess). The seller probably got rid of the phone because noone could or would give an answer to this problem. Heck, it's possible that every post that I've read so far is by someone who owned this phone at one point or another. :silly:
I am sending this post to XDA because even the adminstrators on android forums say that you guys are the smartest and most responsive forum available. (Okay, they didn't say smartest- it was implied). Please help me resolve this issue.
I rooted this phone the moment that I pulled it out of the box. In other words, I don't know if the bluetooth issue is caused by the root, or if the previous owner didn't root the phone and also couldn't get the bluetooth to work. I believe that, because the phone is rooted, I should be able to remove and reinstall the app that bluetooth is based upon.
I am not a techie, the only reason I know anything about root is because I was complaining to someone about my old phone and how all of the bloatware that seems to constantly run eventually kills my battery. He told me about rooting, and it was easy enough - the rest is history. In other words, if you ask me for more information- I promise that I can give it to you. Yet, have patience with me if I ask you a question that you believe that any person that has rooted their phone should know.
I really hope that you guys can help me without bricking my phone. I truly appreciate any suggestions or thoughts on this matter.
jzxpw6;34880517I cannot turn my bluetooth on unless I soft reset the phone. [/QUOTE said:
I may have figured out what is going on, although I can't understand why it is (maybe someone more versed with processes can help me figure this out).
Using Titanium Backup, I first froze the two bluetooth items (Bluetooth Share and Bluetooth Test). Of course, that didn't remove anything, but I wanted to make sure that I could. Then I wanted to see how Bluetooth Share would react without Bluetooth Test. I unfroze Bluetooth Share.
I was then able to turn on and off Bluetooth fine. I restarted the phone and Bluetooth came in just like it did on my old phone. I guess I want to know:
1) Is the Bluetooth Test the cause of my problem?
2) Why is it there?
3) If I uninstalled it, would I experience a major hiccup?
There is still the possibility that this was simply a fluke, and very soon I will go back to the old bluetooth soft reset problem.
There is, however, one distinct difference between this phone and the last and may be the "drop out" that everyone else seems to be having. I have a Chevy Malibu with bluetooth in the stereo. On my old phone, when I started the car and got going, the word "Bluetooth" would appear on the digital display for about 10 seconds, which means that the vehicle detected and connected the bluetooth pairing. Yesterday, as I was driving in the car, every 5 minutes or so, "Bluetooth" would appear on the digital display.
This leads me to the conclusion that Bluetooth is dropping out and being picked up continuously by my vehicle. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm okay with that as long as when I am talking to someone for more than 5 minutes I don't have to keep calling them back. I simply want to know what you guys think about this issue.

I am beginning to think that the problems I have had are related to the condition of the battery contacts.I have several third party batteries with contacts that are somewhat damaged from the pins on an external charger that came with them. I seem to experience a variety of problems when I try to use them.my original factory battery seems to work most of the time. I have several new Samsung batteries on order and will post again if they seem to solve the problem.

i had the same problem and it started with JMT so I switched roms countless times and the problem kept coming back. It would work for a little bit but when i turned it off it would not turn back on. I decided to go back to stock to see if the problem was still there and it was gone. Since then I have rerooted and once again flashing diff. rom every other day and bluetooth works just fine.
Well it seems no answer was found. I'm having the same issue as stated above. In my case, my bluetooth (custom ROM) keeps trying to turn on with the message "Turning On Bluetooth" until I soft reset the phone, after that it works fine.

Was having bluetooth crashes for months using CM 10.1 on a T989 (no custom kernels)
Would crash anytime I tried to connect to car BT audio, or would simply not start up.
Flashed this yesterday.... and no crashes!

For flash: Wiped dalvik/cache, flashed, fix permissions, reboot, start BT, deleted all devices, re-add.
No BT crashing of any sort for 36 hours now.

Hi guys
I got an HTC M8s less than 2 months now and it has so many issues it's driving me insane at this stage....
It's on stock ROM unrooted with all the latest updates.
First issue that came up was not recognising the headphones after i plugged them in, that eventually went away after lots of searching and fiddling with settings etc.
Then it started going into Car mode while it was resting on the table, no input on my end no triggers set for it, hell i don't even own a car to use this function....
I disabled HTC car and that stopped.
The included micro usb cable somehow went bad, tried it on other devices, it will not charge....
Now i'm having some weird charging behaviour, it drops out of charging and resumes or sometimes it just stops charging (that doesn't happen when the phone is charging while being switched off, so i'm guessing it's not a hardware issue)
Another massive problem is that all incoming/outgoing calls go to the speaker which almost burst my ear drum first time that happened.
I have looked in every single forum out there and have tried all possible solutions, ranging from disabling google Chrome to trying every available speaker management/toggle related program on the play store but nothing seems to be working.
Some times if i plug in the headphones, make a call and then unplug them, then it works as it should for a little while. But later on it reverts to the previous mentioned behaviour.
One thing i have noticed, before it routes calls to the speaker, the screen will light up, no notifications come up and then all calls go to the speaker.
I used Wakelock to try and find out which program triggers the screen wake in order to remove it and maybe solve this issue but nothing came up.
Any input would be greatly appreciated as i am at the end of my rope with this device....
I still have my HTC DHD A9191 and i never had any issues with that phone, i'm very dissappointed with HTC :/
Thanks in advance
Yanni
Less then 2 months......return it ! Not even sure what you want to achieve here besides messing up warranty ?
I am using Spign slim armor case on m8s and after using it my power button isn't working.
and I have a Motion Launch problem when phone is on my pocket it opens camera, calls someone because of the sensor.Any fix about that?

ok man
look i have htc one m8 + one m7+one max
the one m7 had the same problem of u
i will give to you one solution for try
i try it on the one m7 and its work
but on one max not work
on m8 not test yet
try this:
1. Turn phone OFF
2. Let charge for AT LEAST 10mins even if it doesn't look like it's charging.
3. Press and hold POWER + VOL UP + VOL DOWN for AT LEAST 2mins. Anything less will not reset the charge mode.
4. After 2mins release the buttons and the phone should boot as normal
if it not charge at the first time then try it again andd u will be OK
Hi Hazem
Thanks for the input, i'll give this a go when i get back home and let you know if it works out.
Should i try this when the phone is at 4-5% ? And then let it charge all the way ?
I'm experiencing these same issues as well after rooting my M8. Hopefully someone here knows what the issue is.
Well for me all issues remain unresolved.
My guess so far for the culprit seems to be the magnetic sensor, either badly programmed or a factory defect.

Sorry Hazeem I understand that English isn't your first language, and you are trying to help but you are not making much sence....
You are basically telling me to charge my phone, then switch it off and charge it again even though it's already charged for another 3 hours....
Ok an update !
HTC Released a service pack along with an update for the car application, after installing these and a couple of reboots the charging problems stopped and the phone doesn't seem to be waking up without any reason, as it did before.
The calls getting routed to the speaker still remain but thanks to an app called Auto Speaker, I've managed to work around this issue. Before the updates this application had no effect, but now it works as it should by turning off the speaker when the proximity sensor is blocked.
I hope I am not celebrating too soon on this and I'll keep this post updated if anything else, related to these issues, happens.
Update 2
So far so good and with another unexpected benefit, I removed my phone from the charger Saturday morning around 11 and as of now Monday 7:30 it's at 27% !
