Question Warning: Camera failed - Samsung Galaxy S22

I bought a brand-new Samsung Galaxy S22 from Samsung this week. Last night, I used the phone camera to both 1) take photos through Instagram and 2) take a video call with WhatsApp. I did not turn off the phone over night and as far as I am aware, the phone did not update or restart.
As of this morning, the camera completely fails to work. The app crashes and gives "Warning: Camera failed" on each attempted launch, and other apps with permission to use the camera cannot use it either. I have tried using the camera in safe mode (still fails) and have cleared the cache and data and restarted multiple times, all to no avail. I have also reset to default settings.

I am really at a loss here. Did Samsung sell me a faulty product? It worked 12 hours ago and the phone has taken on no physical damage that I can see. Insanely frustrating and I've been through all of the (mostly AI-generated and spammy) help pages, all of which offer the same tips that don't work. Does anybody have a solution?

Try a hard reboot.
If that doesn't get it, factory reset.
If that fails... get a refund or new replacement.

[Q] Camera Constantly FC'ing, any ideas??

Hey all. Starting about two weeks ago, I was starting to get constant FC's on my Camera application and all apps that use the camera.
When I tried restoring back to a nightly where the camera had worked, it opened to the front facing camera and as soon as I tried to switch it to the back camera, it froze, then FC'd and refused to open.
I did a completely clean wipe and installed CM7 Final and I am still having the same issue.
I have tried:
1. Fixing permissions
2. Clearing the data for the Camera App through settings->applications and also through Titanium Backup
3. Deleting the Camera App through Titanium and reinstalling CM7 Final
4. Installing a new kernel (SZ)
5. Switching back to a Sense ROM (camera was still FC'ing)
6. Un-rooting my phone AND hard resetting the stock ROM
and NOTHING has worked. I NEED my camera, it's one of the main reasons why I love my phone so much!
I'm on HW004 which I suspect has something to do with this all.
I took this into the Sprint store the last time this happened and they told me that they "replaced the camera application" but I'm not sure if that's entirely accurate.
I would normally take this into the Sprint store again but it's very difficult for me to get there (I'm a college student without a car) so I'd prefer to find a way of fixing it without having to bring it in.
Anyone have any ideas???

If you've wiped and flashed to a different rom, unrooted your phone and did a hard reset of the stock rom and THIS PROBLEM IS STILL PRESENT?.....Then I hate to tell you dude....you don't have a software problem! You need to find a way to the sprint store OR call customer service and go through the whole technical support crap and have them send you a replacement phone or something. It sounds to me like something messed up your camera to where it won't work any more.....maybe you dropped it or something...spilled O.J. on it or something.....Aliens messed around with your phone and are now laughing at you......SOMETHING WENT WRONG WITH YOUR CAMERA and it isn't anything involving software like the camera app!

- clearing camera data and cache
- wiping system cache
- turning off auto night mode and lowering photo size
-downloading 3rd party camera apps ( also freezes )
being thats it a brand new phone, idk what the issue is. we've only had it for a week & it hasn't been rooted.

my s4 is one update behind and 5months old and has no problems
thanks in advance for any help
much appreciated.
The phone has a defect. Can you return it or exchange it for another?

Camera issue or phone broken?

I've got the "cannot connect to camera" issue since last summer, but I can still use the camera if I reset my phone once or twice. It became seriously day by day until now, I cannot activate my camera completely. "Flashlight" shows gray in top menu (but flashlight hardware is fine), Google Camera will FC after few seconds I open it.
I saw many threads in XDA and Chinese forums, tried safe mode, factory reset, wipe all data and even flash factory images, relock bootloader by following those instructions but nothing helps. I don't know why because I didn't do anything to my phone and it just naturally became like this. Except for the camera, all the hardwares and softwares as well as functions are working properly, no signs of getting worse.
I'm not sure the camera module or the motherboard has broken or not, anyone still have any ideas to fix this?

Pixel 3 XL: Camera encountered a fatal error; blank camera

Starting today, my camera opens to a blank black screen when I launch the app. If I reboot the phone, I can successfully launch the camera app and take photos. However, if I attempt to use the camera built into Android Messages, Facebook, and even the bar code scanner app I have installed, the issue starts again. I have tried uninstalling the updates to the camera app, clearing data, and I even did a factory restore. I booted up into safe mode, then duplicated the issue there as well (this eliminates 3rd party apps as the cause). Some other threads I have read say to toggle Bluetooth or turn on airplane mode. Nothing fixes the problem.
I hopped in chat with Google Support and they had me follow this guide (which didn't fix anything). They requested the factory reset. After the factory reset, they required me to gather a bug report to send to them. I requested a replacement device, but the support technician declined and said this issue isn't something that can get a replacement device. I am very irritated I spent so much money on this device and it is already (two and a half weeks later) starting to not work.
Has anyone else on the Pixel 3 XL had this issue? Any other recommendations to fix it?
try flash-all.bat from googles factory images. could be a corrupt persist partition
I don't have an unlocked bootloader. That's required for that, right? Would I need an unlocked bootloader to flash the image?

Blank camera screen when camera opened from from another app
I have the same issue with my pixel 3 xl. Blank camera when it's opened with messages app, fb, WhatsApp, Instagram, fb messages. Called Google support and they had me clear cache, uninstall cam updates restart phone and in the end factory reset but it didn't fix it. They can't identify if it's a software issue. They even had me boot up in safe mode and had screen sharing session.
After multiple calls and hours of troubleshooting, Google will be replacing my phone. Hopefully the new phone don't have this problem.
No luck for me, unfortunately. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed the factory image. The issue persisted after the flash. I contact Google Support again and they continue to tell me the issue is going to be resolved by engineering and they will not replace the defective device. Total bummer for such an expensive brick.
On support contact #3, Google has decided to replace the device for me. Just FYI, in case anyone else has this problem with their phone. I asked for a manager during contact #2 and didn't hear anything back for 24 hours. The person I got on #3 was very nice and assisted in the replacement order.
Had the same issue with 2 of my pixel 2 xl phones. First one was sent away for 2 weeks and then replaced. replacement one lasted a couple months before it had the same issues, I demanded a RMA from google so i could get it swapped in store. The second phone that was replaced lasted a day, it had a weird bright screen flash when locking, unlocking, hanging up from a call etc. That was also RMA and returned and replaced in store.
Hope my 3 doesn't have these issues.
camera hardware is crashing when used by any app other than the "Camera" app
I have the same issues during one week. What I find is the playground and any app other than the "Camera" app attempts to access the camera hardware, the camera itself becomes unresponsive.* After that, the camera cannot be accessed by any application, including the "Camera" app. There Google support told me the engineers will fix that problem. But I'm not sure if that's a hardware issue or software issues.
I'm wondering if this is a November update issue - anyone try flashing back to first release?
Similar issue here, on November, will try to flash november again and test.
Edit:
and..... did not fix a thing. Looks like it is hardware related or if there is a hardware rev in a specific part that is not coded properly.
I can assure you that it is not an issue with November patch or any patch. I have this issue and I am still running with the stock September security patch that came with the phone. I was hoping that updating to the latest patch would fix the issue, but now I'm beginning to think that won't resolve the problem.

I'm the new one ?
Same problem here ?

Random Freezing and Crashing

Hey guys, i love my pixel 3 XL its been great but it has been randomly freezing and locking up, somtimes requiring a restart.
Other time i get the system UI crashed message and then i close it and it works again. Sometimes Chrome or the camera app locks up and crashes too.
Anybody experiencing this? Any ideas on a fix, maybe the next December OTA will fix it hopefully.
Thanks

I'm getting pretty fed up of factory resetting my phone, the phone started saying it's corrupt so I ended up reflashing it and that issue is now gone, but this freezing issue happens every now and then. You really think a factory reset is worth trying? Or could have something of gone wrong with the reflash?

I absolutely would try a factory reset if things are acting strange for no apparent reason.

If you flashed the factory image it's either a hardware or app issue. Have you tried using the phone for awhile with a minimum of apps? I'd give that a try I don't think a factory reset will do anything if you've already flashed the factory image.

try the flash-all.bat then when its complete go to stock recovery and format /data
are you using substratum?
Pixel 3 XL crashing
I have had the same problem. My system UI crashes since new, along with other apps and the phone becomes non-responsive. I thought it was just a new phone glitch that would be fixed with an update, no such luck... I need to do a hard reboot by holding the power button until it reboots. I bought a Pixel 2 XL in August and never had any problems like this. I finally contacted Google about the problems and they RMA'd it. I never root my phones before making sure they work correctly, so this one is and has been stock, unrooted.
My wife and I have the 64GB models in Black (mine), White (hers). She's on her 3rd replacement phone for what seems to be a similar issue.
Symptoms:
When using the fingerprint reader to unlock the phone, it may not unlock for 10+ tries.
The phone's battery drains quickly, within a couple hours of barely any use, her phone might be down to 60-70%
System_UI crashes
Some apps don't seem to load quickly (Like going into messages, you see the app container, and a new chat button, but no messages load for a minute). Or she's had a straight up black screen, and the app wouldn't load.
Takes minutes to call or hang up a call and often takes rebooting to close out the phone app.
It almost seems like something is running in the background that is utilizing the CPU and causing the lag/app/battery issues.
Troubleshooting:
Factory Reset
Wiping Dalvik Cache
Replacing the phone twice through Verizon. The first replacement had the same issues immediately. The 2nd phone showed the same issues immediately, and then went away for 3 weeks since the Dec. 5th Security update, but in the past few days has returned.
Booted in Safe Mode (everything seems to be working fine however extremely limited).
We've also checked the processes and no apps seem to be running that would make any sort of impact.
Running out of ideas

Since the December update, the freezing issues I was having have been significantly reduced, but it still freezes sometimes... I am hoping the January update coming in the next week will smooth out any remaining bugs.
Any of you using a different launcher?
I had this freezing and non-responsive issue. The google rep, replaced it, he determined it is some kind of hardware issue. My replacement didn't have this issue at all (November update). However, the lag/stuttering still persists though. I had replaced quiet a few pixel 3 XL, and i am just getting tired of it. For a $1K phone, we shouldn't get mediocre quality of phone.
So my wife had been removing applications in small groups to try to narrow it down. It seemed for a week or so that she was in the clear and everything was working. Then all of a sudden she got the January update and her phone is still having issues.
Slow responding finger print reader.
System UI crashes
Unable to answer phone calls despite numerous attempts.
It still seems like there is something that is running in the background that is just using the processing power.

Get gsam from the app store, if you don't have it. After awhile see what apps are using battery, app sucker in the app. Gsam is a battery monitor.

Sadly, gsam and accubattery don't show anything out of the norm app wise.
