I'm on my 3rd year with the Huawei P30 pro. By far the best phone I've owned, and the camera is holding up really well.
I have seen just about every review of the Vivo on youtube, and it seems like a strong performer compared to current flagship phones.
Have any of you upgraded from the P30 pro? While the nightmode seems to be the strong point of the Vivo, the wide angle and zoom seems average at best. How do these lenses compare to the P30 pro and do you think it's a worthwhile upgrade? I'm a bit concerned about all the reports of overheating and stuttering. The P30 pro is smooth like butter regardless what I throw at it.

P30 Pro...extraordinary phone, it keep a better zoom, but, the vivo X80 Pro wins in almost everything else
The 5x zoom is noticeably worse on the vivo? That's crazy on a flagship phone which is 3 years newer. I use the zoom quite a lot so might wait for either the x80 plus (just rumors for now) or the S23

i could say tie... the X80 pro + has been cancelled
If it's a tie I will be happy. I just read about the cancellation of the + and possibility of a X90 pro with a 1" sensor in December. Will hold off for now and hope it will be released in the UK as well.
Vivo X90 Pro+: December-bound flagship slated to crush the Galaxy S23 with its new telephoto lens, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and 1-inch camera sensor
Twitter leaker has confirmed key specifications of the upcoming Vivo X90 Pro+. The flagship smartphone will be launched in December with high-end cameras, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Samsung E6 AMOLED screen, LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage.

I switched with the P30 Pro and I don't regret it. Not that the P30 Pro is bad, but it needed a change. The Vivo feels snappier, the night photos are great. There are a few things that bother me, but I probably wouldn't change back.
I switch from P30 Pro also and all what i can say Vivo X80 Pro is like you have P30 Pro on steroids...Have all what P30 Pro have plue much better
I've had the Mate 40 Pro and switched to the Vivo x80 Pro.
Zoom appears to be slightly better on the Vivo, night shots and HDR is better on the Vivo and pixel binned photos(aka normal AI mode) are about the same, BUT...
The Mate 40 Pro have a hidden secret that beats all the phones in the camera department most of the time, that secret sauce called 50MP AI mode.
It takes a couple of picture with the full resolution for 3 seconds, combine them and create an almost noise free full resolution picture with amazing detail and sharpness, it easily beats the vivo full res mode(works great at night as well).
I also use the desktop mode on my P30 pro when travelling. It's genius. Heard some people say its not working on the x80 pro. Can anyone verify?
Can't get the desktop mode to work But screen mirroring is ok
To be noted that VLC supports desktop mode and will properly play videos on the external monitor/tv

Did anyone ever get it to work or its officially not working on the x80 pro? Pretty big deal if not as it's one of the advertised features that is really useful!

Hi to all
I watch so many YT videos about camera comparison and see so many bad things about S20U camera. Is that because still camera software in beta or it is just what S20U is?
I watch S20U vs:
- Note 10 Plus,
- Huawei P40 Pro,
- Xiaomo Mi10,
- Iphone 11 Pro
And yes S20U have new big camera sensor but still they are no big improvements in night shoot's, astophotography, zoom, night videos, portret and etc.. And every phone have better camera in most situation. Whats wrong with S20U? Will Samsung fix this with software updates?
All the best
Not quite sure how you think most phones have a better camera but from someone who ACTUALLY has an S20U I can tell you this camera is fantastic. And with every update will continue to get better and better.
Feel free to not purchase it though. It isn't for everyone.

Come on now. You know that's not exactly true. This phone has pretty serious camera issues, from poor optics to focus problems, etc. It's not a terrible camera, but it is not worth the price tag. Samsung has to do a lot more work on the software side to make it better. I've had the phone since launch and while updates did improve things, it still falls short compared to other flagships. Both iPhone 11 Pro and Pixel 4 take better photos (I have those phones too), as does Note 10+ in most cases (I have it too for comparison). With that said, it is possible to take good photos with the S20 Ultra, so it's not all bad.
If anyone bought the Ultra Solely for the camera then that was Dumbassville! Other than the camera however The 120hz screen rocks, 5g works good depending on your coverage area. It's also a speedy phone. At least my US Unlocked 512gb version is. But if your buying the phone expecting a mobile photography studio like Samsung is hyping in their ads you can forget that BS now because that's what it is. Just plain BS! That is not to say the cameras can't take good pictures or the software won't get better. It just means if your expecting a DSLR or Wonder Miracle camera on a phone it ain't happening. There is a reason those $10,000 DSLR lenses take great night time photos and cost so much. You will never achieve that quality on a phone camera.
I'm one of the few people who buys phone not for the camera but making receiving calls, YouTube media consumption social networking camera is bottom of the list.
I think the camera and video is brilliant and better then most flagship. Its good for an average consumer use for expert photographers not to sure as don't know enough. The good thing is most of us aren't experts.
I prefer the s20 plus as its slimmer and has less protruding camera. Its better buy then huawei as g services are missing and better software and screen. Better then oppo due to mainly software and less curved screen. Oppo could have been my choice were it not for the curved screen. I hate that, most overrated and wasted tech.
Thats my rant and impression of Samsung s20.

That would make more sense than paying 17% more for a 6% larger screen. The battery is also 11% larger, but the plus is also lighter and thinner, especially at the camera bump. The cameras are the most significant difference between the two, it would only make sense for that to be the main motivating factor in paying the premium (especially considering the plus is tending to get marked down more).

The camera is literally the one reason to go for the Ultra vs. the Plus. Screen and battery size difference are insignificant in this decision, so no, Samsung does need to step up and make the Ultra worthy of its name. With that said, I am not expecting DSLR quality. I have a 5D Mark IV and some very high end lenses and know the difference. However, matching or beating the Pixel 4 series or the iPhone 11 Pro shouldn't be a problem for the camera setup on the Ultra, except Samsung botched the implementation badly.

Agree with you.
Pay 1400$ for S20U
- BATTERY not good than 11 pro max or oppo find x2 or p40 pro
- Exynos 990 so bad ( ex 990 < kirin 990 < sd 865)
- Camera can not take the moment well as iphone or other phone. Can't focus well, but photo and video day light is ok.
- screen ok but oppo find x2 pro's screen are better
Sorry for my bad english.

About Camera:
Have S20 Ultra hardware that can improve with software? Or should I go for Mi 10?
Thank you
Hello there,
My main phone just broke, and for now I can't afford a recent flagship, although I have two options for my budget. (both the same price)
As the title says, I have to choose between a Huawei P20 PRO [128 gb / 6 gb RAM] and a Samsung Galaxy S9 [Exynos 64 gb/ 4gb RAM] (not plus).
So, I would like to ask you if I can get some guidance, I have read reviews and watched a lot of videos, but I'm still not sure...
I'm interested in a reliable device, a day battery for me is enough, a great all rounder camera in any condition.
I just have some concerns about the Huawei device, no OIS, no headphone jack and no Micro SD slot is a really turn off for me, but I would like to know if the experience overall compensate this (if any of you have switched between these two). For the Samsung, I have seen that night or low light pictures are not as good as the Huawei, and so is the battery (3000 mAh vs 4000 mAh).
Thanks in advance, I would really appreciate your answers.
Hi, just sharing my experience with you about the s9. I have never owned a p 20 pro but before I got my first s9, I did a quick hands on with the p20 pro. I was more swayed by the s9 because at the time, one of the main selling points was the quality of the stereo speakers on the s9, something which was missing on the s8.
I traded in my first s9 after a while and went through a series of phones including the Note 9, s10+ and finally the oneplus 7 pro. A few months back, I came across an s9 demo unit on the cheap. Everything in the box was untouched and after checking for burn in and scratches, I bought it. I used it together with my 7 pro and ultimately decided to sell the 7 pro and keep the s9.
Sounds a bit crazy but the s9 was always at the back of my mind when I was using the other phones. It is a very good all rounder phone. I have no regrets giving up faster charging, a bigger screen, higher refresh rate and faster processor for useful features like notification light, headphone jack, iris scanner and a higher resolution because of its smaller size.
One ui 2.1 has given it a new lease of life and although there will not be any further android version updates, my only plan is to change the battery when the time comes.
I'd be interested if Samsung did an iPhone SE makeover of the s9. I might consider a new phone then.
I only have the S9 not the P20, but if I were you I'd rather choose the latest phone available out there. since it has more recent software, unlike the S9 which I believe this year is the last year that the phone is still got the software update unless you use the updated custom rom. also there are a lot of phones that has long battery life, higher storage, higher ram, maybe a bit better camera than both s9 and p20, and again more recent software. I think it's more worth it rather than buying a 3 y/o flagship phones.
Also nowadays I feel like running stock firmware on this phone is still reliable, it's not buttery smooth like it used to that's why I'm using the custom rom. other than that, this phone really fits my hand perfectly that's what makes me still considering this phone as my daily driver.
But that's just my opinion tho
I have the p20 pro and I'm thinking to switch to the S9.
I can say that the batterie is awesome on the huawei, I get 7h On Screnn with 25% left.
But i hate the caméra, it makes good images at low light but on daylight it's horrible. Hdr sucks, oversharpening, human faces are Just drawed with oil painting, front caméra is blurry and overexposed. I prefer Xiaomi mi A3 with Gcam. Vidéo is also bad.
Emui 10 is also full of bugs. I regret switching from S8+ and Xiaomi Mi9T to P20 pro.
S8+ was much better and with gcam it's amazing, i'd like to switch to s9 but i think i Will regret it because of the ppor battery life.
I asked the same in the S20FE Forums but thought i'd ask here too.
I'm looking to replace my S10e with a larger phone. It's down to Mi10T Pro or S20FE. I will have to get the Exynos Version of the S20. It seems to be a toss up between the OLED Screen on the Samsung and the easier unlock plus Snapdragon on the Mi10T.
I don't care for cameras too much, i don't consume media on my phone, i know MIUI and OneUI and don't mind either. I've had great experience with Xiaomi and Samsung in the past. The only thing i'm a bit worried about is coming from an OLED Screen (S10e) to an IPS one might be a bit jarring when it comes to text contrast.
The xiaomi will be marginally cheaper (a few bucks).
Since i'll get it through my carrier, i can't get the regular Mi10 anymore. I debated waiting for the Mi11 but that will be quite a bit more expensive and i really don't need the increase in performance.
So what do you think? AMOLED + Exynos or IPS + Snapdragon?

Its up to u, s20 fe is really good phone too. I actually decided to go with mi 10t since fe and 10tpro are 100e more than 10t and they are not that better for that much difference, camera is 5% better and mi 10t is still capable of making some great shots. According to screen ive used 9t before and i can tell that i like IPS more and its faster refresh rate is amazing, but it doesnt have aod and super wallpapers so its one downside for me.
Mi 10T Pro is a much better phone overall, which is amazing given it's way cheaper than the S20FE. One of the best value phones hands down.
Software wise is less bloated and offers a better Android experience.
Hardware is so much better in every single area. The camera is very very good, the battery performance is stellar, the screen is top notch for an IPS LCD screen. Then Exynos vs Snapdragon, dilemma in which I prefer Snapdragon.
Now there's a few things which might be deal breakers for people:
-No IP68 (I've never had the need for this in my life, phone is unusable when swimming anyways), but if you love boating, beaches or swimming then this might be a deal for you.
-ANY AMOLED screen it's light years ahead of even the best LCD screens. It's day and night difference: the contrast, the colors, everything. Pictures with bright colors on day light they're comparable, as soon as there's an image with heavy contrast, shadows or black on it then it's VERY obvious the differences specially indoors. When web browsing or scrolling around the menus you won't notice, as soon as you open a photo or a nice wallpaper, you'll see how bad LCD screens are compared to AMOLED.
-Developer community is still dead for the Mi 10T.
I came from a Mi 9T Pro, and the AMOLED screen it's a big deal... But I really wanted the infinite lasting battery of the Mi 10T and the IR blaster. As an added bonus I found out the camera, specially video recording and low light photos is so but so much better. But once you go AMOLED is very hard to go back to LCD.
Just because of the Samsung bloatware I'd avoid them like a plague, and you'd think a Chinese manufacturer would be worse but overall Xiaomi is better than the rest, they have done a pretty good job from hardware to software. It's a solid and nice product.
And for the money of an S20 FE you're better off buying a Google Pixel 5 which is pretty good if you don't mind the "OK" battery.
Or better yet go for the Mi 10 Ultra or Mi 11 Pro which is around the corner.

Snapdragon 865 in Mi 10T Pro is 30% faster than the Exynos on S20... and also better thermal control and less throttling.
I agree the LED on 10T vs Amoled on S20 is a slight downer, however the 10T PRo is 144Hz refresh vs 120 on Samsung S20
Battery life is undoubletly better on Xiaomi compared with Samsung, and also the battery in 10T Pro is a lot larger (5000mah)
Look on eBay or FB for best prices on borh phones before you make your final decision.
(I got a 2nd hand Mi 10T PRo brand new - with genuine UK Mi 30w charger, but no retail box - for £380 on FB Marketplace )
I'm also excited about the upcoming Mi 11 range but agree with you... Mi 11 prices for next 3-6 months will be much higher than for Mi10 , even 2nd hand ones.
Either S20 FE or Mi 10T Pro will be a great device for you, but my vote goes for the Mi 10T Pro.
(P.S. go for 256GB storage option as Mi 10 devices do not support SD Card expansion).
well it's not a direct comparison , but i've upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 , and I miss the Note 8's Amoled screen.. it's much much better that Mi 10T Pro's LCD if you factor out the smooth 144hz screen , everything else is much bettter on the Xiaomi... oh forgot about note8 is thinner at that Spen
The contrast on Mi 10T/Pro is high but not on the same level of OLED screens. Probably the best LCD I've seen on a phone.
guys i found the s20fe 5g and the mi10t in the same price wich one should i choose both of them are equiped with sd865
I have over the years owned a few OP devices including the 6, 7 pro and 8 and usually compared to say the current flagship Samsung I have preferred almost everything about the Oneplus but a few things like wireless charging, no always on display and a camera that just fell slightly short saw me ultimately go with a Samsung (or Pixel)
With the 9 pro I think this has flipped around and this a year I prefer almost everything about the S21 Ultra I have over the 9 pro. The Samsung IMO looks better, feels nicer in the hand, feels quicker in daily use (a big reversal this) has a quicker and better placed FPS and has better overall battery. The 9 pro though has a better main camera in the circumstances I care about (less blurry photos or my kids and pets) and has APTX-HD which is 2 areas about Samsung that frustrate me.
So I think I prefer the OP9 Pro (just) but I am kind of missing the S21 Ultra too.
Are you sure there are no aptx HD with S21U? You can check in developer options
Samsung have only had standard APTX for a while now which is frustrating as I am not convinced by LDAC and mostly only Sony cans have LDAC anyway.
Switched yesterday from s21 ultra to op9 pro, really enjoyed Sammy but definitely i prefer Oneplus way better user experience! Also even if with Hex manager i used to be able to mod software seem more "stock like" can't feel well with One Ui.. i agree about battery that is better on S21 but here you have shocking fast charge so not a big deal for me. About camera i can't talk I'm not a good photographer and also don't take photos often... One thing that i like about Oneplus comprared to s21 is that 30grams less means so much difference in daily usage!
I think that overall the camera is better on the S21 Ultra but as a point and shoot Samsung’s always struggle with anything that moves even a little bit and I see no signs of them resolving this. I find the 9 pro better in this regard.

Seeing the same thing on Mrwhosetheboss. Majorly disappointing.
what videos are you guys watching?
The 6p seems to hold up well with the iPhone 13pro max
Short Circuit channel showing how dark the screen is at max brightness compared to the iphone 13 (which I have no interest in), also doesn't look good to me. The speakers also sound way worse it seems. The more I see of this the more this feels like the pro should have started at $700 and not $900. I ordered from best Buy and I can still cancel it, but I don't know what to do.
I don't know about you, but for me personally, Pixel 6 Pro picture quality looks quite good. I'm pretty sure it'll be better than what I currently have i.e. Pixel 3. It still takes good picture.
SuperSaf style camera comparison.

I don't know, almost every review I've read or watched so far place the 6 Pro above the S21 Ultra AND the iphone 13 Pro.
We'll see for ourselves soon enough though.
Watching the Android Central review now and they are using the telephoto as the macro lens and it actually looks really good, so maybe that's why there is no dedicated macro camera. I'm going to watch as many as I can as it seems different people are using this phone in different ways. The bottom line on the video seems to be not great though regardless of who is reviewing it.
Also more confirmation the screen isn't bright enough outside.
For info - from the BBC website. This is about Magic Eraser, de-Blurring and more.

There aren't any. I watched 6 or 7 videos all the way through. At best the Pixel is on par with the iphone in picture, worse in some areas, better in others, and objectively worse across the board in video.
Considering I will never own an iphone I'm more interested in how it compares to my OP8 pro, which I doubt I'll find a video on.
Also keep in mind Google is comparing to a mid range budget phone in the 5....so this "jump" is a jump for THAT phone, not compared to others in a lot of cases.
9 to 5 Google review. They like it.
This I like the best when it comes to Pixel 6 review. It seems like most of the reviewer missed the macro capability of Pixel 6 Pro zoom lens. Which IMO looks way better than iPhone 13 Pro/Max.
shame Google missed the boat on macro mode not being as good as Samsung or Apple! I use macro more then portrait mode
