Question Random Reboot | Random Freeze - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

Hi, anyone experiences random reboot issue in their device? I bought my poco F3 as Second Hand but it turns out when im doing facebook or messenger for a long time, it freezes and reboot. The time frame is after a day or two the issue appears. How to fix the issue? Im running on stock rom 13.0.5 and my device is 256GB variant. Replies are highly appreciated. Thank You!

Obviously you move all of your stuff to a computer or usb SSD or HDD and factory reset or flash stock firmware with XiaoMiFlash tool.

Thank you bro

Yesterday my phone kept restarting, and my Sim card wasn't functioning when it did turn on. It wouldn't even power on after a while, had to wait for about 20 minutes and try again. One weird thing I noticed is I couldnt search settings (setting suggestions wouldn't work) I used an air compressor on the Sim card slot with the cover removed and it seemed to help. But I also did some software changes to see if it would help. like turned off memory extension and cleared dalvik cache and cache with recovery. I'm not sure what exactly made my phone function like normal again.
So after about a day the issue starts again, first my Sim card shows up beside my clock with an X through it,the data icon gets grayed out, I will not be able to access the mobile networks option In settings without my phone freezing and a process has stopped responding message ,and my settings suggestions stop working too. I'm just really confused lol, because it seems like software, but the only thing that actually made my phone work like normal again, was removing the Sim card slot and blowing Compressed air into the phone. Simply removing and reinserting the sim card did nothing, but the air helped.
I can't tell if I'm having a software issue, or hardware issue, or I suppose it could also be the sim card itself maybe, but yeah if anyone can shed any light it would be amazing.

I think something is overheating in the phone. I haven't had any issues since it's been a little cooler weather wise, where I live.
Second guess is the phones been "sweating" moving it from hot outside to cool inside ac, maybe created internal moisture condisation. I'm leaning towards mosture because taking Compressed air to the open sim card slot, seemed to be the only thing that worked.
I am wondering if this is something that can be easily repaired (opening phone and resoldering maybe) or at least that's my hope, I really don't have another phone to use if I send this one away to be fixed.
Edit: So it's been a few weeks now and I haven't had any issues.
I downgraded my kernel to previous version (BaalamKernel-2.1.1_alioth vs newest)
And I've been using my phone without its case in hopes it can breathe better or dry out any moisture that built up over time.
Still not sure if it's hardware or software but knock on wood, no issues so far.

random reboots and Reasons/Solutions

hi i upgraded my xps lt26 i on ics to build (ICS)6.1.a.2.55 ota and it was so far going smooth with no mess around till yesterday night
my battery was drained after a whol day use and i came back home left phone plugged for charge(switched off) turned on later on, the phone then stayed for half an hour and then the problem started
phone started rebooting and random boots
the phone since then is behaving like that
i left it like that at 11 o clock the battery was drained(morning)
i was upset.
i figured out the phone is switching off it self, searched out to find the issue but no luck, well
then i noticed that the phone is saying sim error( only once i seen this) i removed the sim card( which actually is not cutted the way it should be, means it was a full sime card( regular orange sim card) i tried to make it micro sim card and cutted in a bad shape but it was working fine
now i have removed the sim card from phone, inserted another sim card in the phone, and the phone is no longer rebooting( i will update this)
i felt:
it might be the sim card reading error on sim tray cause mine was slightly cutted in bad shape plus the reading pannels were also bit trimmed
secondly i have seen there is a bug in ics causing random reboots
if people around faced this issue, they have possibly solutions to hard reset, clean memory by hard reset( power plus volume up), refreshing the firmware via sony pc suite, or finally sending it to repair centre but MINE IS not in warrnty
if any one else had this issue in past or facing this problem can add ,
please share your experience and any possible solution.
Do a factory reset and then update again with PCC, problem is you would loose root then. But there's no else solution available for the random reboots.
Happened with me too, So I decided to stick at Firmware 0.50 since 0.55 offers nothing new or special
reboots
Well
I haven't been rebooted since afternoon
I am sure it's SIM card issue I m facing but personally speaking I started hating Sony
Its waste of money
Look at each flagship leader Sony comes up
Then tons of issues
I will update if anything happened again
Thanks

[Q] Mainboard replaced - keeps forgetting settings

My Xperia S has been extra slow and buggy for a month now. It would get very warm, CPU above 50% for half an hour without the phone being used, shutting down apps I was using, camera would only take one photo before error reports forgetting settings on restart, etc. Personally, I suspected problems with the internal storage. Factory resets don't help.
The repair store recently replaced the mainboard. However, the phone keeps forgetting settings every time I restart: Widgets disappear, some icons disappear, keyboard is reset to default. This applies to exactly the same widgets/icons as before the mainboard supposedly was replaced. I haven't tested it long enough to know if the other issues are still present.
Why does the phone keep forgetting my settings? Are those details related to another part of the device, not the motherboard? I.e. is the internal storage integrated in the motherboard? Any suggestions?

Hi,
Please use Sony Update Service/PC Companion and do a software re-install. If your bootloader is unlocked (you will get a message that " Software has been modified" when you try to use SUS/Companion) then use Flashtool by Androxyde and flash the latest JB's FTF file. You can find the ftf file over here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342864
This should take care of all software issues.
Good luck

I have not flashed or rooted my phone in any way. I have done factory reset/software reinstall 5 times over the last month. Is it necessary to flash the phone to solve this issue?

If you have already tried doing a software repair, then I guess that the only option left would be to take it to Sony.

p5200 Random shutdowns

Hi all,
I own the p5200 (Tab3 10.1) for a few weeks.
Recently I noticed that the device sometimes randomly shuts down by itself, and I have to power it on again by myself.
It mostly happens when I don't use it (and than come back to use it and it's dead) - but it also happened once when I used it.
Did any of you guys experience that weird behavior ?
I don't believe it is a hardware defect, rather then a software/kernel issue (maybe even the previous generation's SOD problem?)
Appreciate any help!
Matan.

The problem seems to be getting worse, now it happens a few times a day,
I read some and thought it may have to do with the Sleep of Death.
If anyone knows anything about it I would be more than happy to know,

Thanks for the reply,
I'm running stock unrooted/modified XXUBMI5 firmware.
Hi,
same/similar problem on my P5200/10", stock not rooted firmware 4.2.2 - after cca a month of using random switch-off started, after another few weeks it was more and more frequent and the tab was usable only very hardly. my quess was some HW error like bad battery concact, as it happened mostly during tab movement/shaking/turn arounds etc.
Sent back to vendor to reclaim, back after a month with factory reset and message "problem not reproducible". and really, it was not happening(!)
Another week or two has passed since then - and random switch offs are again back, now also when there is no movement (i.e. overnigth). I am planning to try to save some logs to find why it happens (some bad application?) or at least to prove to vendor it really happens. then I will try also another factory reset (however, I do not like to setup it again and again and backup/restore might not work, if it is caused by some app ).
When this happened to me on a previous device, it turned out to be SD card related. The SD card would unmount and that would apparently freeze my tab, usually shutting it down. Then again I was using a swapfile and had most of my apps installed to the SD card. But I figured I'd mention.

Hi,
Same here - no SD card involved.
I can update that "somehow" those random shutdowns did not occur in the past few days (where before it happened a few good times a day)
I can also say that when the device is connected to a charger no shutdowns whatsoever.
Also, in the past few days battery is draining much faster than before.
Personally I think it is the battery, October's bad battery batch of the S4/S3 reminded me that this could be the issue here as well.
Tried to look online for a battery replacement to buy, but without any luck so far.
alfi_ , if you have any new info I would very much like to know
Thanks!

Hi,
so far nothing special - as it does not happen while on charger, also log via USB is useless. and the log via TCP is empty.
what I have seen in discussions / heard from more experienced people, incl. the branded service partner, it can be often caused by some additional application (for me its hard to believe. and if the same happens to PC computer, it will definitely be a reason to return the device). but anyway I would suggest you to make a backup and try the factory reset too. then test it for some time without any new installed application.
for my one it looks little better after reset (weird behaviour), but it still randomly shuts down. then I am going to visit a service center personally to present there the behaviour, but it may take some time..
Hi,
the problem was reproducible also in the service center with factory setting without any other application installed, so after a month the tab is back with replaced mainboard (part gh82-07643a) - and so far no problem. hopefully it will not repeat anymore
I've been experimenting the same issue. Sm t311, stock unrooted rom.
It happens when the device is sleeping, it just fails to come back.
I've seen it happen with and without sd card, with and without power cord attached. It doesn't seem to be related with the sleeping timespan either.
Enviado desde mi SM-T311 mediante Tapatalk
one, maybe useful info when this happens, which I was not aware of - androids v4.1 and newer have the possibility to boot into "safe mode", where all additional installed applications are disabled. so before you try factory reset and reinstall/reconfigure all applications, you can try also this. (I am wondering this option was not told me by the service). on tab 3 10" you can reach it while booting and the logo is shown, press and hold both volume keys.

After troubleshooting this issue and discarding possible causes such as charching problem, smart cover side effect, defective sd, etc etc, I had given up on my T311 and decided to start experimenting with some custom roms (after all, it's painless to brick a defective tablet). Somehow, after flashing FastDream the issue disappeared.
It has run for 27 hrs straight without turning itself off.

Hi, I have problem with my Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 gt p 5200.
Tablet without noticeable reason began randomly shut down by itself.
Sometimes in an hour goes off 5-6 times, and sometimes working 5-6 hours without turning off.
Tablet can not be sent to the service because it was purchased abroad.
On it is the original untouched Android 4.2.2.
I tried a factory reset and re-flash with the latest android from sammobile.com , but it didn't help.
Does anyone has a similar problem or solution.
Thanks in advance

LG G3 freezing and restarting, staying in boot loop sometimes

Hello,
Since 2 weeks ago my phone has been started acting all weird. It started with my Phone freezing and restarting itself one morning. It showed the LG logo for a few seconds, then went black and the same thing repeated. LED did not start blinking at first but after a few loops the LED came on, the animation played and phone turned on nicely. No more such problems during the rest of the day.
Fast forward 2 days. It got worse. The freezing and restarting happened more often and at one point it was in the LG logo -> black screen -> LG logo loop for a good 10 minutes before it booted. It also drains my battery about 10% every single time.
So I decided to do a Hard Reset when I managed to keep the phone running long enough. The hard reset process itself worked flawlessly, no issues during the reset what so ever. I though the problem was over until a few minutes after the hard reset when I was reinstalling my apps, it froze and restarted again.
I started googling about the issue and found a few matches. Some people suggested replacing the battery and some suggested putting a piece of paper between the battery and the SIM card slot from which I did the latter. That actually worked for a few days until the reboots came back and it got worse by the day when it finally was completely unusable since it kept restarting after booting up (usually it didn't even get to that point). Then I decided to try a new battery because it was the cheapest option available at that moment.
At first all looked good on a new battery but still, just a few minutes after rebooting the phone from a new battery it froze yet again and restarted itself. So 25€ wasted on nothing.
At this point I'm starting to run out of options and really would not like to buy a new phone since my G3 is only two years old (warranty just ended in October 2016).
Any suggestions are more than welcome at this point.
Best regards,
Taavi
Yesterday I tried flashing the stock V30B marshmallow ROM onto the phone using LG flash tool 2014. It lasted without restarts for about an hour and then it all started again.
So in conclusion:
A) It's not the battery.
B) It's not the software.
C) Thus it must be the hardware.
Since my warranty is void already, the repair costs would probably be quite large.
I think the only chance left for me is to suck it up and buy a new phone.
It was fun while it lasted though. RIP.
Funny thing is that after I removed my SIM card, the issues have stopped for ~24 hours. Yesterday I was able to browse reddit and watch videos for almost 2 hours straight with no issue when I had no SIM card in the phone. I will try inserting the SIM card again after I have fully recharged it to see if maybe it has something to do with the SIM card connection.
Put in the SIM card and it didn't even last 24 hours before restarting. Took it out again. Unfortunately it now restarted even without the SIM card so it still must be some hardware failure.
Same issue here. Changed battery, factory reset, rooted and TWRP+CyanogenMod 14.1 flashed and SU granted.
Constant reboots. Sometimes bootlooped until I remove battery
Having the same problem. Tried new battery but it turned out to be a cheap clone that was worse than old battery. Got another from mbuynow which last longer but still restarts but not that often. Tried the paper trick to to avail. Also tried the LG suite to see if it helped but no luck. Running marshmallow 6.0 and have done a full reinstall. Is this likely to be hardware problem?

Cannot tell for sure but seems it is a hardware problem which is really sad since besides the restarts the phone is still in very good shape. I would take it to repairs but as my warranty is already void it would make sense to simply buy a new phone and sell the current one to parts.
I have the same problem... I flashed CRDroid or something with Android 7.0, it booted normally, but then, restart after few minutes... It can boot normally with the usb to computer, but not with charger. It can also boot to twrp, wipe, install and fix the system works, installing other roms works too, and they can boot normally, but it shut down, as soon I remove the cable... I thought it was nougat rom, it change some in system files or drivers like battery options... I'm out of options...

Seems like a battery issue I think you need a new battery if it's working without the wire plugged in

I have 2 phones. This thing seems to puff exactly after 2 years coz they were bought in difrent times and both of them emerge this issue after 2 years for each. boootlops were after few minutes from start. In case of first one new battery was a bingo but i did not investigate second - im going maybe for new phone. Funny thing. Maybe product life time was to planned to good(for producer)?
I was a great phone, longest I have and most customised... Very agile, never had bricked, bootlooped or failed to flash... Thank you for your great support, LG G3.... Rest in Peace... If someone can bring it back to life, I'll be back to that.
I'm counting on someone stumbling on a fix as well. It's still an awesome phone expect for this stupid thing.
I had similar issues but I realized that different SIMs seemed to work with the phone. Went to my carrier and requested a new one. Since then, no issues. Maybe something with the sim card slot?

It happens even when my SIM card is not in the phone. It could easily be the SIM card tray but cannot confirm without taking it to repairs.

It might be a hardware problem in some LG G3 phones.
It began rebooting and bootlooping after 2 days, that i had disabled the location services.
Now i'm thinking of getting a new battery but i don't really think it will do any effect..
So i might buy a new phone..

I had the same problem as you,i bought a new battery and everything got fixed.(you need exact the same Model of battery so when you go to a store note the model of the battery)
Temporary Fix
1- Remove the SIM, turn on the phone, put it in Airplane Mode.
2-Insert the SIM turn on the phone.(Don't change Air mode).
3- Turn off auto backup/restore in settings.
4-Go to network setting>Preferred network Type.
5-Turn Off the Airplane Mode and immediately SELECT THE 3G only(Before it catches the signals), in some phones WCDMA only.(Do not Select 4G/LTE/2G).
6-Done
7-Restart the phone.(Now it will not reboot)
Drawbacks:
In 2G signal zone, There will be no signals.
Its a hardware problem,But its a way to trick it.

Note 2 keeps restarting everytime!

Hi guys. A relative asked me if i can repair his note 2. I think his network was locked and the phone keeps restarting everytime. I flashed a new firmware on the phone. The one I use on mine..XXUFNG1, and also I went into recovery and clear data and cache after flashing. But still the phone keeps rebooting everytime. Why is that and how can I fix this?
Note : It's not bootloop or anything. You can switch on the phone, use it for like 5mins and then it freezes and restarts itself. And it goes on like that. Sometimes it doesn't restart also and you can use for more. But most of the time after 5mins, it restarts.

Was the phone dropped or exposed to moisture? Possible battery problem? Reboots even when connected to a charger?

Hi..thanks for reply. I tried another battery in it. The one I use myself. But it still restarts. I don't know if the phone was dropped or anything though. The relative just told me that it needs to be unlocked. Do you think it's software related? Or something is damaged in the phone?
Since it is running a stock ROM and still behaves this way after a factory reset, I think there is a hardware problem.
I might have a similar problem. I copy from another thread:
Hey guys,
I like this rom so far. But since 2 weeks I got an issue.
My phone randomly turns off, atleast I guess that's what happens. Sometimes the "notify" LED is on permanently but the display won't go on. To start the phone again I have to put out the battery and put it back in.
My battery is randomly empty pretty fast even if I just let the phone turned off. This happens like every 5 minutes.
I already bought a new battery but the problem hasn't changed.
What to do now? :>

I like the phone. It's over 5 years old and runs like the first day. Except it DOESN'T wake up anymore after a short time when the screen is off. I can press the power/home button as many times as I want and wait for 5 minutes, screen will still be off. Only way to "wake" it up again is to put the battery out and in again.
Currently I don't have enough money to buy a new phone and I can get a new motherboard for 25$. But I'm not sure if this will fix my problem.
I'm not even sure if this is the ROMs problem since it worked with all earlier versions of this rom perfectly and even the latest release worked for weeks/months.

As long as I leave the screen turned on the display/phone won't go off and I can use it as always. Even the battery don't drop drastically then.
It might be exposed to moisture tho. When I take a hot shower I'll leave it on the window sill and the room gets steamy.
ROM: [7.1.2 r24] LineageOS for N7100 [Unofficial] - Version from 08.10.2017
GAPPS: Open Gapps ARM 7.1 Aroma - 03.05.2017
Baseband: N7100XXUFND3
Ril and other stuff I don't know where to check.
Some years ago I had the SDS and the motherboard was changed without the EMMC bug.
Sometimes my phone only charges in slow mode too.
I try a clean install and newer pico gapps now. Maybe it will solve the problem. I'll reply then if it worked or not.
[EDIT]
Since my phone was low on battery I turned it off completly and put it on the charger. After an hour or so I wanted to look after it.
The green charging light stays on and if I want to turn the phone on nothing happens. The light stays on even after removing the charger.
Seems like a hardware, not a rom problem? Will changing the motherboard fix this?
[EDIT 2]
Quick update. I fully wiped/factory resetted and clean installed newest version of this ROM + newest mini pico GApps. Still the same problem. Gonna try it with another ROM/kernel now and if the problem persists it's a hardware fault.
[EDIT 3]
Fully wiped again and changed ROM+Kernel. Still the same problem.
