recently pulled the trigger on letting go of my vz gdp, so not much need for the s5's i've collected over the years. i'm going to keep one to play with but i have (4) four 900v available, if any of you devs need one.
1. rooted, screen protector works but has some sort of charging issue where it doesn't charge at full strength, but the batteries are interchangeable so it may still be good for testing stuff.
2&3. rooted, everything works but screens are cracked. they both have protectors holding the cracks together so they are still usable.
4. rooted w screen protector. has a screen issue where it dims unexpectedly and even sometimes turns off and doesn't come back on...also has an issue with screen rotation (not sure if they're related)
i have a few extra back covers too if you want them.
anyway if there are devs interested let me know and i'll see what the cost to ship to you is. fyi i'm NJ

Hi,
I've just had my HTC Desire for about a week and its been working fine, however i have just spotted a concerning water dot-like spot inside my touchscreen but its not affecting anything i do when i use it. I have not dropped it at all or done anything malicious so i'm assuming it was already there from the start. I don't have a screen protector yet but will be receiving it in the next couple days.
here it is > http: //i41.tinypic.com/2h2nsbb.jpg (remove space)
it might be hard to see but its there.
Does anyone know how i might clear that up or should i just leave it since its not really effecting the touchscreen. i'm not sure if i should get a replacement
Any suggestions welcomed.
cheers
I would insist on having it repaired or replaced from where ever you got it from. I'm guessing there is no obvious damage to the top of the screen?
Yeah, that would do my head in! A screen protector may well render it invisible though.
I would contact the provider and insist on a replacement. I would just say there is a mark on the inside of the screen, I wouldn't mention water if I were you, just to be on the safe side, it's one of those things where the conversation could get irksome.
Cheers for the replies..
I will see what 3 can do as i bought it on a PAYG. You can bearly see it until you look closely near light, thats why i only just noticed it yesterday.
No damage at all to the top screen let alone the phone. It still looks brand new. AMOLED screen is faultless and everything works fine.
I reckon it'll be annoying to get this replaced as they have limited stock but i'll see what 3 would suggest me to do when i go there tomorrow..
I had the same problems with multi touch as others have stated before, I also posted this fix in the other thread but that one turned out to be more about the wifi issues which I do not have.
About a week ago I installed the Rootzboat ROM on my phone, and after that my multi touch issues went away. I could now play shooting games! But, at the same time I also put an otterbox case on it and didn't think anything of it. Yesterday i took the case off while I was playing a game and the issues reappeared--I could no longer use both the right and left corners for input. I turned the screen off and put the case back on, the issue disappeared once again. So, if you're having the problem try putting an otterbox or some other thick screen protector and case on it.
I think the solution comes from the thick plastic screen protector which comes attached to the case (and is not actually applied to the screen) is lowering the capacitance readings for the phone (probably because of the distance). So the solution may lie in the driver software. Anyways just my 2 cents.
So I ordered the parts from a seller on ebay with 99% feedback. When the part arrived I took it straight from the mailbox to the repair store near my house and had them install it.
I was in a rush to pick it up so they didn't test it besides to see the dead battery sign.
I got home, charged it and powered it on and immediately noticed some issues with touch, especially the left side of the screen. The glass also seems to be less smooth and picks up EVERY SINGLE fingerprint.
Should I get a new screen or was it installed improperly? Is there anything I can do?
Also, if I do end up sending the glass back, where is a reliable replacement to be found?

A touchscreen/lcd replacement has been a hit-and-miss thing. The majority I've tried would have touchscreen problems in one form or another. Try YAMTT app from GooglePlay to locate the exact dead spots or dead bands, then flash the multi touch fix first. If it still fails, and you're buying from China, locate a vendor who fronts for a manufacturer of these glasses. Ask them, and they will tell you. Make sure they test the glass before shipping to you (these should have a QC pass stamp of some kind on the back of the glass), because you can never tell if it's OEM or not. Good luck.
Oh look, another thread that I have to make, as you can see, I am really enjoying this phone right now. Anyways here is the thing: Download any multitouch testing app(I used Yet Another Multitouch Test). Put your phone on a flat surface. Try to use more than 2 fingers without issues. In my case, trying this will make it not detect atleast one finger properly. Now press and hold the aluminium frame of your phone. Multitouch is now fine. While I'm holding a phone in my hand, multitouch also works fine, so this is only an issue when i put the phone on a desk or bed. Could it be that digitizer isn't connected properly? Or could it be something else? Do you also have such issues with this phone? What could be done to fix this?
Update: after more testing i have come to the conclusion that the reason for such issues is aluminium frame of the phone. Weird, I would like to know if this can be fixed in any way tho
Definitely a hardware issue/fault. The best thing to do for now is to send/bring the phone to Sony for repairs. If you hadn't unlocked your bootloader and your phone is within its warranty period then it should be covered by warranty but if not, just be prepared to spend, hopefully its just the frame and the digitizer not being aligned and not the actual screen itself with the problem
Godspeed
Alright, but have you tried this out? Because I've seen a lot of Z1/Z1 compact threads that describe similar issue, I wonder if all devices are faulty like that or just some?
I managed to get to 5 fingers. Couldn't fit more since the screen doesn't detect if fingers are to close to each other so I had to keep them a bit spread out.
Yea but, it's not about just recognizing fingers, can you try drawing 3 straight lines with 3 fingers when not holding a phone? This is where the issues usually start, trying to swipe while not holding aluminium frame of a phone
I've just tried it with a multi touch tester app and it's absolutely as you've described. Additionally I've had some issues with phantom touches lately so maybe it's somehow related to this.
please do let me know if you somehow find out the cause of this or find any 'solutions'
Will do. I've heard people have had their screens replaced for this and issue still persisted, so I wonder if it depends on screen manafacturer. You see, Z1/Z1 compact models are shipped with either JDI screen or AUO screen. I have JDI. Of course, we will need some people here with AUO screen to do the testing.
mine is AUO
Then i don't know
Anyone having touch sensitivity issues or weird touch problems on their cover screen?
I do have the Spigen tempered glass protector installed on it so I'm not sure if that's the issue or if it's the phone itself.
Speed Test https://vidmate.bid/
I turned up touch sensitivity in the settings and that's helped a little but it still misbehaves sometimes. Like it will scroll when I'm trying to tap and vice versa.
Wondering if anyone else has had problems (with or without screen protector)
You sir, are superfluously creating a new thread.
Touch/tap problems
I'm having problems with my Fold 4 not registering taps. I tap a space on the screen and nothing happens. I do it several more times, and finally it responds. I haven't seen a clear pattern yet, because it's somewhat intermittent. Has anyone else...

My wife and i we both pre-ordered the Samsung Fold 4 and we both got the same issues that guys described.
We contacted Samsung over the phone... Is it only me but even if i'm full of compassion their customer support is awful? So many calls, they connected to our phones with Samsung Tutor... And no clear help or explanation after hours wasted. I even tried speaking with them in 2 languages and i'm completely lost.
Anyway that aside, we are thinking of just returning both of them for good. Such a waste, aside from that i like pretty much all the rest... The crease some people don't like i can live with it. And even all that cluttering with those Samsung Apps they always have (i prefer Google Apps but oh well), i can also live with it all...
But not being able to use the screen properly? That's too much for such an high priced device.
If you guys have ideas, i'm all open, but tomorrow i think we'll return them. Because like i read here it still looks like especially the outer layer has problems.
If it helps anyone, here's what we tried:
-I never copy from one phone to a other. Clean start everytime. And cloud storage.
-We both did a factory reset after noticing all that.
-Both tried safe mode.
-Both erased the cache clean and both tried the repair app in the system (while restarting the phone, hold power and volume up).
-Both put the sensitivity higher at first. No other screen protector than the thing the put on the big screen.
-Went to accessibility and reduced the touch from 0.5 to 0.3 seconds...
Honestly i'm not sure i can do more than think they screwed up. Not sure many would try more than that. It supposed to work out of the box. Good luck everyone. I'm curious if anyone has more.
Applied the screen protector as u but i dont seem to have any touch issues apart from the screen itself to be small and unable to type on it without mistakes
