Using a T-Mobile Note 3 on ATT

I'm plannng on purchasing a new T-Mobile Note 3 and use on an existing ATT line. And also eventually want it rooted and don't want to trip KNOX.
Questions:
1. Do I need to activate it on T-Mobile first for any reason?
2. Should I unlock first or root first.?
3.What's the best way to unlock, (if at all possible) have T-Mobile give you unlock code, use pay online service (if cost not an issue) or some free method described on this forum?
4. Is Root de la Vega the best way to root? Any risks?
Thanks
check this out, its good for you,,steve http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2464498:good:
I was curious about that as well. Since I had to work out South near Arkansas and they seem to have nothing but [email protected] towers and a few Verizon.

Hi,
I'll try to answer since I'm trying to do the same thing:
1. I don't think that you should or should matter
2. If you can get the code from Tmo or buy it, then have the option unlock first. If not and you want to use something like Region Lock Away, you have to Root first. As a rule of thumb though, since I use many different carrier phones on other carriers, I try to as stock as possible, while trying to set up on the new carrier. Which means.. Unlock first, if you can.
3. I'd imagine getting the code from Tmo or ordering it online is the safest KNOX trip free course..
4. Depending on the firmware you have, the safe methods or even working methods, change... For example if you're on NB4 like me, then there is no KNOX safe method, but to Kies to NE4 and root with Towlroot
Good luck Sir...
My story of this scenario.
Bought tmobile Note3.
Paid it off
Called Tmobile and got unlocked code.
Switched to Staright Talk $45 ATT plan.
Ported my number to Traight Talk.
Heaven.

Did you have to sign up for any kind of (non) contract for them to give you the unlock code?
How long did you have the phone before they gabe you the unlock code?
Thanks

Bought in November 2014 when it came out, paid off January 2014, asked and got code in Feb 2014.

Supposedly you need to have the phone activated on the t mobile network for 45 days. If it gets paid off anytime afterwards all you need to do is request the unlock code. Calling and giving them your imei number they can look up the phone and tell you if you can get it unlocked. From that point it takes anywhere from 2 to 7 business days. You get the unlock code in your email.
The only bad scenario I can see is if you bought it off of someone who called it in and reported it stolen or lost. Then you must go through alternative sources to get your Sim unlocked.
Fusionized tweaking tapatalker here...
Anyway besides getting an unlock code to sim unlock? On NB4. What if I upgrade to NF1? If not, is there ANYWAY to downgrade back to the original JB 4.3?
1. Do I need to activate it on T-Mobile first for any reason?
Nope.
2. Should I unlock first or root first.?
Depends how you plan to unlock. If you use the method that I mention in the next answer, you have to root first. If you use any other method, it doesn't matter.
3.What's the best way to unlock, (if at all possible) have T-Mobile give you unlock code, use pay online service (if cost not an issue) or some free method described on this forum?
RegionLock Away is the easiest method, IMO. About $3 in the Play store.
4. Is Root de la Vega the best way to root? Any risks?
I don't know anything about this method as I rooted before it came out, so I can't answer this one.

AT&T Note 4 Enable Hotspot Options!

I am in love with my Note 4 and don't want to replace it. I have stock AT&T Note 4 unlocked with all the AT&T apps and etc. and would like to enable hotspot without paying extra premium for that service to AT&T. I am travelling overseas this summer having it is a must for connectivity with my laptop. I have explored in following directions!
First rooting phone and then may find hotspot fix after that (not sure if something exists) but running 5.1.1, I don't think there is root available yet for me? I found several posts upon googling that it's not available. Even if I get it rooted, is there concrete solution to hotspot fix? I don't want to downgrade to 5.0.X? and then root as it's just too much hassle!
OR
Easiest fix right now seems I get rid of this phone and get International version (I believe modeled SM-N910H ?) And that should allow me enable hotspot out of box from settings menu? correct?
Also will TMobile version SM-N910T, if I buy unlocked, will it allow me to enable hotspot? Does TMobile put software restrictions like AT&T? I don't want to buy and resale and all that headache!
Please advice!
Thank you
Not a single reply please help!
Only thing I know you can do on the AT&T version is to get a family share plan on your AT&T service. Tethering is included in those plans, then enabled on the phone with the stock app. I use it without problems on mine.
That's all I've got.

Will Samsung Pay work for the international devices (theoretically)?

Given that the international devices for the S7 / S7E can manually get Samsung Pay to work (after flashing and installing the apks), how likely is it (theoretically) that Samsung Pay would work for the Note 7?

In relation to what countries? I've got the S7E international version here in Australia (Telstra - G935F) and Samsung Pay works out of the box.

The US. I don't want the snapdragon (with most likely locked bootloader).

Use android pay samsung pay is said to work at more places because it uses nfc and magnetic reader, it may only work for a credit visa or master internationally otherwise both have a list of banks not very broad, but I belive I saw a Asian bank named. Good luck.

Also samsung is korean so if they use the phone and release there first I would assume so yes.

No just like the note 5 international version does not work with Samsung pay in the USA. Not sure why samsung does this. I also want the exynos version and Sim free unlocked but we sacrifice samsung pay

It should work as long as you flash a CSC that supports it. So as long as there is some country somewhere that supports it on the Note 7, it'll work. Just make sure you use the US Samsung Pay apks.

I live in Europe and I am an owner of an A5 2016. It didn't come with spay like every other international phone. I was searching aimlessly on apk mirror and one of them with its framework worked !
I cannot justify if the payment worked because I am not allowed to just steal my dad's card and start making payments with it but it most likely worked.
I am after a format so I can't find the apk. I don't really have that much time to dig in the site again because of homework but I guarantee that one of the apk mirror apks will work.
I really want spay too so if you find the working apk and framework post it so that I can install it again. It won't be useful to me anytime soon but I am on a quest;
I want to make my midranger (in terms of software) as good as any other flagship.

Galaxy watch NFC payment

Do I need galaxy phone to use NFC for payments?
Nope. I have a Pixel 2XL and it works just fine.
Sorry no or yes? I am quite confused
What he meant was, any phone is fine.
Any idea if rooted phones are ok?
Currently have a Galaxy S8+ (rooted) and thinking about getting the watch.
Not so useful if Samsung Pay won't work on watch due to root issues on phone.

First of all you need Samsung to introduce Samsung Pay in Poland.
This is NOT going to happen

Wasn't sure I fully understood.
So phone root = no samsung pay on phone.
Watch root = no spay on watch
phone root and watch not rooted = no spay on phone and watch?
this is for the lte version btw so i'd thought it should work independantly but wasn't sure.
