First, I wanna say sorry for if this is in the wrong spot, first time poster here.
Ok I have a S7 and I wanted to try to install lineage OS on it. I think I messed up because it will not get off the lineage os boot screen. So then I tried to restore a backup I created with TWRP using TWRP and that failed, so now the phone is stuck on the Galaxy S7 powered by android screen and I kew I have to use odin to flash firm. I got my official firm, but no matter how many times I install samsung usb drivers or samsung kies, Odin does not detect my phone... I tried installing the drivers with the phone in, then without, then without again and restarted the PC, nothing. Then I installed Kies with the phone not plugged in, restarted, Odin still cant detect phone. Its my only phone, please help. If I go to google about this I just get told to download drivers which I clearly stated I have. I even tried 3 different USB cords, yet I know the one I am using should work because I transferred data to and from the phone before!!!!
Thanks so much if I can get help... my only phone (((

Instead of Kies, install Samsung Smart Switch on your PC which will install the latest Samsung drivers:
Smart Switch | Apps & Services | Samsung Canada
Simple data transfers. Secure backups. Smart Switch is the app that moves content to your new Samsung Galaxy from your old device, whether it's an Android device or not.
www.samsung.com
Then you need to restart in download mode (Odin mode) in order to flash the ROM.
THAT WORKED!!! YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER!!! The phone is now detected by odin, and currently fleshing official firmware!!! Thank you so much!!! I even went to samsungs drivers download site and that didn't work. I forgot about Smart Switch. Thank you again, I honestly appreciate you!
I got into the welcome screen or whatever it is called. Again, thank you

I was running CM10 but I got a message whenever I got into the Camera App that said "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped working", after a research in here I found that I wouldn't get that msg again if I installed this "gapps-jb-picasa-20121011-signed" thing.
I did, but when I got into my Camera App, I didn't have the other options like "Image Effects" and all that stuff.
So, what I did was to Restore my phone from my BackUp folder that I've created before installing CM10, but for my surprise I got a msg saying "VolumeError" or something like that and other things that I can't really remember... and as a good Mexican that I am, I ignored it and hit the Reboot System Now..
What happened next almost made me cry...
I was expecting to get in my stock rom without any problems and yadda yadda but... OH SURPRISE!
I got stuck on the boot screen, where it says "Samsung" and the website of it and I didn't freak out... I waited like 5-6 mins and took the battery out. When I turned again, I tried to get in Recovery Mode but the screen just kept turning off and on and saying the exact same thing, the "Samsung" logo and it's website.
I hope you can help me and please answer me. I don't know if I'm 1000000% screwed but I will only wait for the worst. Sorry for my bad english and don't hate me for being mexican
I don't know if I can get into my phone from my PC but whenever I plug my phone in, it just loads it as if it was in Charging Mode
PLEASE HELP ME!

Like @dropple said, it seems you stuck "SAMSUNG" and in this case you can't get into recovery so you can't flash CM10 as of now. Go find some tutorials and Odin back to stock via download mode. Then install CWM recovery if you want and do whatever you like. Should get you outta trouble.

Thanks to Everyone!
I solved this like 2 hrs after all this happened.
I got it by Odin. I couldn't go into Recovery Mode, but I got in Download Mode and do it by Odin.
Sorry, I'm a n00b to all this.
Greetings from México and thanks for all your support.
Here's a weird one for you,
Same thing as OP stated. Device is stuck on logo. Can't get into CWM. Was on People's Rom. Device was lagging really bad. Then the system requested superuser permissions. Yes the system requested. Being as I did not request it, I declined. Shut the device down to see if that would help with the extremely bad lag (i mean BAD lag. Like..........................ok it does something then.......................................................................ok it does something else. 10-20 seconds lag)
Connect device to computer to Odin back to Stock or whatever ROM would have worked, computer recognizes device..... wait for it.......
But in download mode Odin does not see it. Com Port will not illuminate. Tried 3 different cables. Tried 6 different USB ports on computer. Still nothing.
Any ideas, because I'm all out?!?
To the OP:
I would follow the instructions in this video from the part where qbking77 talks about putting the phone in download mode, as you presumably did when you first rooted your phone. Download all the files linked/referenced on the site, especially the Samsung mobile drivers, Odinv3 1.87, CWMRecovery, and the deOxed versions of the stock ROM. In sum:
1) get into recovery mode by holding onto the volume down, camera buttons, and then without letting either of those go, press and hold the power button.
if you get into recovery mode, skip to step 4
2) while your phone is completely off, hold onto the "1" button on the slide out keyboard first, then without letting the 1 button go, press and hold the power button until you're in download mode.
3) flash the version of Clockworkmod
4) once in recovery mode, wipe your phone, clear the cache, and dalvik cache, and then flash the deOxed version of the stock ROM

Do you have the mobile drivers installed on the computer you're trying to connect your phone to?
Yes. The drivers have been installed previously. The computer will see the device as "Samsung SPH-D700 Card USB Device". But Odin3 1.85 will not see it.
EDIT: When I put device into download mode and connect to computer, the computer only sees it as "Gadget Serial".

Yes I can get into download mode but without Odin recognizing the device (not computer. The computer recognizes the device) there is not much I can do.

Try to install another version of Odin or getting Odin from a different server.
My phone is fully recovered and now I'm only SuperUser 'cause I don't want any CM by now.
Greetings from Mexico!
I'm using the same version of Odin I used to root the device. Would a different version really help and if so, what version to use?
I actually have a different version of Odin I used for another device and tried that one as well, with no luck.
EDIT: I have now downloaded and tried 4 different Odin programs with no avail. Again, that makes 6 Odin programs, 6 different USB ports, 3 different cables with the same exact results. The computer recognizes device but Odin will not.

Had a simular issue when I had two odins on the same computer, for a lark and as I had nothing better to do, tried installing drivers and one version of odin to a vertual machine running vista and checked to see if my computer's vertual machine would reconize and it did, I took it as a sine that at one point I had done something to my computer's main os sometime between rooting my epic 4g and frying it (recovering from a backup from a different parition layout I think, bad times with bootloops and seeing way to much of the samsung logo.) So as I'm not brave enough to run odin on vm I instead removed all of odin from my main os and all of the samsung drivers, then reinstalled rebooted and repluged my epic in, got reconition and reflashed with plesure.
The other issue might be that your computer is reconizing the device and try/failing/hanging and not allowing odin in. Had an issue when my computer was failing to pop up a 'what do I do with this' window and hanging round in the system. A reboot with the internet unpluged strangely solved that for some reason, might be the reboot might be the combo, but I find better connection reconition with my computer when I've fewer things connected.
Don't mind the spelling to much I clean up with my other device.

Phone does not boot past the "Samsung - www.samsung.com" logo. Plus, as with all of my devices, USB debugging is always checked.
Thanks for the suggestion though. Always helps to double check things.
I believe I am going to take it to Sprint tomorrow.

I know I've been in your boot problem situation and recovered, it just took persistence and eyenumbing amounts of reading.
Note On the multiple Odin, USB, and driver installation: if you've access to another computer it could be worth wile to run once though on a previously virgin computer, meaning your phone and computers' USB's have never touched. Just do the installation, rebooting, and plugging in exasperatingly meticulous order.

Yep tried the "virgin computer" computer as well. The computer sees the device but Odin does not. Com light will not illuminate.
Sounds grim.
So to rap up all the cables, plugs, computer, and software with odin is out of the debug process.
So I did some digging into the past and if your computer is reconizing and odin is not then ADB (android debug bridge) and the sdk are the other option
http://forums.androidcentral.com/epic-4g-rooting-roms-hacks/33427-how-access-your-adb-shell.html
Ran across this and it might just be what you need. Its not quick but it has worked for me in the past.
The other thing that may work is ejecting the sd card and battery before doing anything. Though its likely something you've already tried.

Ok guys, I'm no noob but this phone has me stumped. Sold my S2 to a friend with Jedi on it. Worked good for a while and he said it started acting erratic. So I do a factory reset and it gets to the part where it says updating applications. Gets to about 70-90 and reboots and does it all over again. So I reflash it with TWRP to latest Jedi. Still the same. Gets to 70-90 updating apps and reboots. I tried putting it in download mode to factory flash it but it boots back into TWRP instead. It charges fine although the computer does not recognize it even though I have kies installed with latest drivers. I've flashed several different roms with same result. Gets to updating applications and freezes and reboots. Is there an alternate method for getting this thing into download mode? I fear it may be hardware related though it was booting and semi working when he brought it to me.

If you can't get into download mode the way @smokinjoe2122 said, you are probably going to need a USB jig. You can find them on ebay for a few dollars. Make sure it is T989 compatible before you buy it.
The thing I would try first is take the battery out for five minutes, put it back in and then try getting into download mode.
Keep in mind that even with the jig, you may not be able to get it to work.

Not true and that wouldn't keep it from going into d/l mode. And I only installed kies after I couldn't get odin to recognize it to see if kies would. I have a second T989 (unlocked bootloader) that works just fine with both programs installed. I suspected that maybe he got the phone wet at some point and he said he had indeed. I think this is whats causing the issues. Phone charges fine but no program will read it.

Sorry, I forgot the s2 does not have fastboot mode. You should download the stock rom zip and gapps onto your SD card. Then factory reset. Install the stock rom and gapps. Then factory reset again. Make sure you have the proper rom. I've had bootloops like you when trying to install certain roms. Currently my wife's s2 t989 is running cm 10.1.2 with no problems. Cm 10.2 would cause bootloops. If you are getting to the Samsung logo your phone is not bricked, so don't worry. We just have to figure out what's going wrong with your install process. Let me know what happens.
Did you flash a custom recovery? And if so which one? This will be needed before flashing roms.

the way I'm working is THE FOLLOWING:
First, I have samsung drivers installed on my notebook and the phone is recognized.
Second, open the odin program, and on the phone I press vol +, vol + and connect the USB cable, the phone starts in download mode ...
third, odin in pda select rom with. tar.md5, I remove the selection to "re-partition" (sometimes I leave selected)
Fourth, I start ...
wait a while, the installation goes well (I sometimes appears "fail") but usually completes the installation, the phone restarts (odin says that ended with "pass") once it restarts in case of using a rom T-Mobile, the logo appears on the screen, shuts down or restarts ... and no more lights, again only shows the samsung logo and restart every two seconds about ...
I guess I'm doing the procedure well, do not know if anything else can fail ...
I do not know if it's possible to "format" the phone, leave it completely to zero and see if that way I can mount a rom ... by the way, a couple of the rom I downloaded from sammmobile.com so I think that should be the corresponding ...
I hope someone can help me please ...

Did you preform a NANDROID backup before flashing?
If not you probably will have to install KIES and firmware upgrade from there. I had to do this a few times with bad roms/recoveries.
You can try CMinstaller (easiest way to flash rom), but unless you enabled usb debugging, it may not work...

This is the only thing that I can think of that may work. I've done this a few times.
Download and install Samsung Kies on your computer if you do not have it already installed on it.
Note down your phone’s Serial number somewhere. You can find it under the battery of your device or the box your brand new device came with.
Launch Kies and click Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Initialization
Connect your device to computer using USB cable.
Enter your device model name in all CAPS (GT-I9500, for example) and click on OK.
Then you will be asked to enter the Serial Number of your device.
Once again, select OK on the next screen.
Doing this will force Kies to download the require firmware update files for your device.
Respond and confirm all securities warnings to clear the way for emergency firmware installation and then select Start Upgrade.samsung-firmware-restore
Kies will now start downloading firmware files and the process might take several minutes depending or data connection speed.
When it is finished, new firmware will be installed on your device and you will see: samsung-firmware-restore-complete
Click on OK and disconnect the cable.
Reboot your device and done!

I already have kies installed, I'll try, thanks!
I did everything like you said ... but it did not work, I tried three times, but said "this device version can not be updated." ... I think this team definitely dead ...

Boot your phone into download mode to do this, by the way.

It seems that way. But maybe someone else here knows how to go about fixing it. The only thing that leads me to believe it is dead, is that you can't boot into recovery even after Odin.
If anyone can figure out a fix, please share, I'm a bit curious...

I just want to confirm your method for entering recovery. With the phone off and not plugged in you hold down both volume buttons and the power button. When the phone vibrates release the power button, and continue to hold down both volume buttons. Do not release volume buttons until the phone boots into recovery. This is what you are doing? I just want to cover the simple things before asking you to try more in depth possible solutions.
Check out this thread about faulty/dirty power buttons.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931310
you flashed with a nearly dead battery? I always charge mine to 100%. I've had issues where my phone won't boot up properly like what yours is doing when the battery hits 0%.
I'd plug it in and leave it for half an hour or so and see if it boots then. Let it charge to 100% and then put on either CWM or TWRP (I've had better luck with TWRP personally) and flash your ROM from there.
I've never had luck flashing anything but recovery and stock from Odin. Other things seemed to be a little flaky.
Also, since this is in the T989 forum, I'm presuming you have the T989 which I believe the recovery buttons are vol+ and power not both (but I could be wrong).
Once other thing you could try is grab a copy of the android SDK (specifically ADB) and run:
adb logcat > boot.log
and post the file it creates (called boot.log). Also, try running:
adb reboot recovery
to see if you can get into recovery mode. I THINK (but have never tried) that ADB should work from download mode. Try booting into download mode and running adb reboot recovery to see if that helps.
That is my best guess anyways.
So i was trying to find some new roms for my SGH-i747M and what i did was backed up my original rom running on a avatar nightly build i tried to upgrade my clockworkmod touch to the latest version using the terminal method (cause i was getting status 7 errors from all the other roms). I finally got the install the work then when i reboot the rom doesn't work i tried going back into CMW recovery and it just crashes and for some reason the computer can't recognize the phone so i can't unbrick it.... what do i do now totally scrub
Have you tried odin

Hey try downloading the stock firmware and used Odin flash it on
What stock ROM was on your phone before you update CWM? It's important to let us know so we can help guide you in the right direction.
Can you get into download mode at all? Have you tried the debrick method described in this forum?
tried everything(mostly)

I've tried odin and stock rom but the thing is i don't think my usb debugging is on so odin and my computer can't access the components inside the phone, i've tried unistalling drivers and trying to reconnect it but no luck... my stock rom on my phone was a avatar 4.0 nightly build or something (4.3 version) and my old CMW was 6.0.3( or something before i tried to get the 6.0.4) now i can't even get it to work when i tried to flash the slimkat rom
i can't get into CMW recovery.... when i try it restarts, when it restarts all i get is a black screen i think i'm screwed here
Try different drivers, cables and usb ports. Usb debugging only matters when you are booted into android. Shouldn't have any effect on download mode.

Can you get into download? From what I recall with my phone USB debugging was not needed to flash ROMs via Odin or CWM.
i've tried

i've tried different port different cables different computers i've tried reinstalling the drivers and using different installations nothing seems to be making the phone readable, and yes i can get into download mode but odin or the computer can't detect which port it is on
How are you reinstalling drivers? You have to uninstall through device manager. And make sure your cables are data cables. Many out there are not capable of data transfers. Unless the port on the device has gone bad or been damaged, I'm not sure what else you can try. But if it cannot connect on any port on any computer, I think it may be a hardware issue like I just mentioned.
Did you try different driver versions? You can get several from the link in my sig.
What about trying different operating systems (i.e. WinXP, Win7, OSX, etc.)?
Could be worth a shot. Odin is Windows only though. I think heimdall works for the rest.
try what i can

Cables go bad far more easily and frequently than most people believe. Glad you figured it out!
Dear all. I have a note II that has gone wild. The phone was working fine but then I received a note 4 and put the note 2 aside. Then I was trying to install root and was able to do so by installing TWRP V2.8.3 and everything went smooth and the phone was rooted. I then used the phone for a while but switched to the note 4 after. Now, 5 months after, I wanted to check something on my olde note II. I charged the phone and switched it on but it was stuck on the Galaxy note II screen I rebooted then rebooted but still the same. I went in the TWRP recovery to try to do something but I was not able to because it says that it cant mount storage, cant mount efs, cant mount data, cant mount cache and cant mount system.
Then I have decided to install the firmware image from zipped file but that did not work as it sees that the internal and external storags are 0 and cant mount them.
Then I opted to try and install the firmware PDA through Odin but that also did not work as Odin was not able to detect the phone. Now I'm clueless and not sure what to do the only thing I'm able to do is boot in TWRP recovery and that is all. Can any one help.
My phone had the latest official rom from samsung the 4.4.2
Please help
classic, just search. there is a thread with tutorial how to get your n2 back to life. you could also have sds, but try different odin and flash with pit
Ok now I'm in a worse situation. I have managed to get to the download mode and connected it to ODIN and tried to flash with the stock rom but at the end of the writing process it failed and started to get a message on the phone to connect my device to kies and try again. I tried that but did not do anything. Then I tried Odin again but this time I unticked the auto reboot. then clicked start. The same thing happened as before and writing failed now though my phone is blank it does not show anything and it does not want to turn on and no LED that is turning on nor the charging icon. I searched the net and someone suggested that the battery is damaged. I replaced the battery but still no go. Please I really need to get that phone back alive. I think I bricked it. any ideas or directions to help me with this annoying case. I cant even boot to recovery nor download please help

Odin dont detect Phone in Download mode, right?
So test another USB hub or an other or Official Samsung USB connector.. When nothing work try another PC and Flash the Firmware in PDA.

As I said when I remove the battery and insert it back the phone remains blank no response to any button pressed.
What I did is that my phone was stuck on opening screen samsung screen. Then someone suggested to flash it with the stock rom. So I went to Sammobile site and downloaded the latest firmware. I tried to install it to my phone using ODIN and just before the end. ODIN failed. I tried it the second time and the same happened. then the third time I read that I have to untick auto reboot. I did and tried ODIN for the 3rd time and on the third trial I got the same fail message and then I wanted to boot into download mode for the forth time but this time the phone went dead and not responding to any button press. I hope that this explains the situation

No worries bro. At least you are trying. I have never seen this before either and I'm stumped and where I'm I dont think I can find any samsung pro shop. All what they are going to say is the motherboard is dead and you need to change it. I do have another phone but I hate it when a devise does this to me
