Hi,
Can anyone else see 4 pixels light up when the fingerprint scanner fails to detect fingerprint while being in whatsapp call?
I have attached video of it with 4 pixels lighting up on left
Yeah I've seen it before. Pretty sure it's some kind of sensor under the display. If you are on a white screen, and look closely, you can actually see them.

Hey, thanks for your reply. Does it happens on yours too? I raised it with Samsung support and they are asking me to send the phone to them to check.

Yeah it happens on mine too. I wouldn't pay too much attention to it.
I believe it is the underscreen proximity sensor checking if it is an accidental touch or not

Did anyone notice that the screen has these criss-crossing stripes on it? They're only visible at a certain angle against strong light source.
Not saying it's bad or anything, just wondering what it is and what it does.
i noticed this too, like you said against string light. be interesting to know its use..
It´s the capasitive sensing grid
yea thats just the way that the touchscreen works out where your finger(s) is/are. It was alot more visible on the G1.

Well cheers for explaining what it is...
Does anybody here use this phone?
SOrry for noob question but does it support video calling?
Or WP7 does not support it ATM?
And what are these 3 sensors in front of it?
No WP7 device currently has video calling. The lens you're seeing is probably the proximity sensor, which detects if your face is up to the phone and shuts off the screen so you don't accidentally press something.

Yeah but there are 3 there. Two similar and one deeper looking like camera.....
I have the Optimus 7 and it doesn't have a camera at the front. None of the WP7 devices out there has a front facing camera and I guess that's because video calling isn't supported.

One will be a proximity sensor, one will be a light sensor for automatic brightness and no idea on the third.

Are you in a dim environment? Or are you in a bright room?

If you are taking a picture with low light, candle light or very little ambient light then the picture may come out underexposed (dark) and grainy (noise due to low light). Both problems are associated with low light. Even expensive DSLRs are susceptible to noise in low light however the small camera sensor found in the Note 2 makes it even more apparent.

I have the same issue but when I use any third party camera apps I,m getting less "grain" compared to the stock camera app. Any idea whats wrong? Is it a software issue or do I have to get it replaced?
It seems people started to noticed camera issue. I hope other people could shed some light .

I'm getting excessive graininess too, definitely more noticeable than the original note, could this be fixed by a software update? Or is it game over due to the hardware?
I don't know if the camera is dark but the led Flash sure is. It's not as strong as my previous S2. This indeed is bothering me.

Noticed this earlier. The live shot on the screen was perfect but the captured image was darker.
Any way to just capture as is? I.e. what you see is what you get?

Are you sure it's not because the screen goes to full brightness in camera? It does when you have auto-brightness on, anyway.

Ah, could well be that. Cheers!
well my brightness is always full and still this issue exists, can anyone else shed any light on this?
Its a known issue with international note 2 version. From what i know. its a hardware issue!
Low light pictures are definitely grainy without flash. But aside from this, I can't really say the pictures from my Note II are dark.
Try switching your Metering mode to Matrix?

IMO its a software issue i've been trying out a lot of third party camera apps and the noise(grainy-ness) is a lot different from the stock camera app. It would be really helpful if some developer looks into this.

Agree, i like the camera on note 1 much more than note 2, to me note 2 beats note 1 in all areas except in camera.

so this problem is confirmed??
I was going through the review on gsmarena, they have mentioned the camera to be better than the note 1 and really close to the S3 can someone confirm that the graininess is common on all note 2s or only the ones who have already discussed it here ??
Can anyone share with me what there screens are like. Mine appears decidedly yellow and im starting to worry that the screen is defective. My HTC One M7 has much bluer tones and I personally prefer it. My M8 just appears dirty!

Might be just me. Im really neurotic when it comes to my tech
I've also got this problem, it might not be that easy to see on the picture I've attached, but you can at least see that the colors are not the same. I've also tested the screen with an app called Screen test, and it seems to completely fail the Checker board test under Resolution and Horizontal resolution (1 pixel) makes the display flicker.

Yeah, but I'm not sure if it's due to the HTC Color Enhancement, or if the screen is bad. The stores says it's just a different color temperature on the screen.
The the light in the proximity sensors are IR captured by the camera, so I can't see it (except through another camera ofc)

its not a defect
I desagree, it is a display defect to see a horrible black box on my white screen. I didn't buy a lowcost phone...
I think many people would like to know that before to buy this phone
It's is visible on my s10 plus. But only in direct sunlight. In day to day use I don't see it. I personally don't see it as a defect. Yes it is a expensive phone, no they didn't warned for it, but it's the sacrifice of the technology you got with a super sonic fp scanner. Therefore I can accept it.
Mi9, S10, P30Pro all have the same fingerprint place visible on direct sun, that's not a faul at all. ...on that phones I can confirm.

You should stop spouting misinformation, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
It's most definitely not a defect considering every single phone has the same thing going on. How do you expect the fp scanner could work? It's not using x-ray vision, that's for sure...

Sorry but this is completely normal, (see the FPR). My s10 plus (SnapDragon) under direct sunlight not show the FPR.
On my P30 pro, I didn't see the FPR in sunlight

That's correct. Some media sites have shown photos of the display where the Fingerprint Scanners 'box' is visible in direct sunlight. It's not a defect and Sammy have corroborated it in their own support documents:
https://www.redmondpie.com/galaxy-s10-s10-fingerprint-sensor-becomes-visible-in-direct-sunlight/
Figured that was the case after the fact. Sorry
Let me check tomorrow under hot sun and report back
