Hi,
I've been using the honor 8 pro for almost 8 months now and I do like the phone but the one thing that pisses me off is the GPS accuracy. It takes time to get a fix and mostly doesn't work properly.
I want to know if this is an issue with Honor 8 pro because when I googled I saw it was an issue for Honor 8.
I use location services like 90% of the time when I travel and hence it is crucial to me.
I thought it would get better after the Oreo update but it hasn't and the Oreo update Huawei gave has bugs and this is after I formatted the phone after installing the update. It's sluggish compared to when it was on Nougat.
I am close to giving up on this phone and Huwaei altogether.
I haven't rooted my phone yet and I might give the OpenKririn team's Oreo 8 rom a try once they support Jio VoLTE.
so far, no such issue for me. GPS locks in quite fast and accurate.
what apps are you using?
Calibration problem try re-calibration again
Hi,
I don't know why is this happening but for some reason nothing is working on the Reno 8 pro, here's a list:
-link2sd - no such file or directory when recreating mount scripts
-apps2sd - invalid argument when recreating mount scripts
-GCAM - black screen or just immediately crashes
-lucky patcher move to /system/app - app just disappears
-lucky patcher modded Google play store - installed but not working error
-kali nethunter app no appearing...
Basically every single thing that isn't from magisk just doesn't work, any help would be appreciated.
Well, buying redmi note 8 PRO itself is a hit and miss. Here, aside from severely out of stock problem (we only get 100k units splitted for online and offline seller each month), the ones Assembled in Indonesia one has BAD QC, hundreds got bad panels, some faulty build, etc.
I got mixed feelings because I can't get 128GB version but at least I have not noticed anything wrong with my device

Well **** then since I am in Indonesia, this is the 6/128gb forest green version that I got for US$260 and I got lucky that there's one in stock, everything is working fine tho, only the magisk and root stuff that's acting a little wonky

Wait am i missing something or is the Reno 8 Pro and the Redmi Note 8 Pro the same phone? Why is no one mentioning how this thread is posted in a wrong forum??
Fixed
On topic, I haven't got a single working GCAM yet. Won't be root/twrp until stable method for 10 released. I hard bricked my one week old whyred, corrupted modem and imei/mac I'd and was hard work to revived it
Want to open a general discussion about international support.
In the past few years Nubia have promised updates to its Red magic 3 series phone.
They have kept that promise, but only in China. China roms having a few Android 10 updates and even Android 11 on the RED Magic 3. But Only in China.
Internationally the Red Magic 3 received the latest version of Android 9. Then was abandond by Nubia international.
The Red Magic 5 series Devices seem to be following this same trend. After over 4 nearly 5 months of China having an Android 11 Rom for this device, internationally the Red Magic is still on an old 4 month old Android 10 update.
We dont know what Nubia will do with its next phone, but if the trend continues the 6 will be left behind like the rest in the series. Unless you're happy to install china roms but thats a different story.
I'd like your opinions on this. Would you buy a phone that will only see a few months at best of software support?
The red magic 3 had gotten 10 months of support.
The red magic 5s in particular had 2 months of official support, 5g 9 months.
How long in your opinion will the Red magic 6 be supported?
According to what is happening in the previous Red magic phone, looks that nubia is going to do the same thing, just support for china but not international and is really disappointed to buy an amazing gaming phone with poor support of software. Red magic international support just said we have planned to release Android 11 but we don't have the exact date and is the message they give us when asking about Android 11, Nubia don't forget your international costumers please!!!
They don't deserve our money, half a year of support is not even near what I was thinking when i bought this device. Never again Nubia

same here, I'm suffering on chinese rom, cannot change launcher etc
My phone won't connect to data cell and rext work though any thoughts
Phew, so it seems you guys are already having lots of issues, with the 6!was really looking forward to getting this phone but the never ending negative, user experience comments, are putting me right off.
For those who have bought the device, does the red magic moment (recording), work for PUBG? It stopped working for older devices in Feb when PUBG 1.2 came.
Nubia is a sh*t company with very poor support on any level. I just ordered my 6 Pro and it will be here by Monday according to Fed Ex. I was very leary but that 16 gigs of Ram was just too tempting. Ill report back here as soon as I get my 6 Pro in hand. I can definitively say that customer support is a big fat zero. That alone almost turned me away but I bit the bullet and ordered anyways.
Been with OnePlus since Op6. Getting my Pixel 6 Pro tomorrow. After the reviews and some user comments I don't think I'm going back.
I am currently using a OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren and I am about to switch to the Pixel 6 Pro.
But I am in nor hurry - the 7T Pro is still working great and fast as hell - also the design is just fantastic.
But as I'Ve been using Pixel (and Nexus) phones before, I think I am going to switch back to TeamPixel once again...
I have a OP8 pro,and going to the P6 pro
Still waiting for my device
I have a OnePlus 8 Pro and Samsung Note20 Ultra. The OnePlus 8 Pro running Android 10 was the perfect balance of clean Android with added customizations. OxygenOS 11 feels like a buggy OneUI knockoff and the shift towards ColorOS strays even further from the smooth clean feel. I know one can unlock the bootloader and run an AOSP ROM on OnePlus devices, but the occasional broken features, root incompatible apps, bootloops when upgrading or installing certain modules, having Slot A/Slot B compatibility issues, etc are annoying. I've rooted and ROM'd phones since the original Droid and the hassles now often outweigh the benefits. I actually have enjoyed Samsung's endless customization options, and with using ADB to uninstall bloatware and custom theming, I've got 95% stock Android. That said, I'm looking forward to an even more fluid experience.
With the Pixel 6 Pro, we're getting the clean stock experience and the option to root, if necessary. In many ways, this will feel more like the true upgrade to the OnePlus 8 Pro. On paper, this is the phone tech enthusiasts have been waiting for but there are few quirks that have been mentioned. It's hard to get unbiased opinions from those given free review units. Unless it ships early, I've got a couple weeks before mine arrives so I'll be waiting to hear impressions from the XDA community. Enjoy your new phone and let us know what you think. Cheers
assuming my P6P ever gets here! (Darn Tmo ) I will be finally switching over from the OP6T. This phone has been giving me some issues for the past few months, and the battery has definitely seen better days. Still LOVE this OP6T though. Hopefully the P6P will live up to the hype!

I'm upgrading from 1+ 8 pro to the 6 pro and I'm getting excited.
I thought I was going to love 1+ and the 8 pro but I missed Google.
The 8 pro camera has been a disappointment, so I'm excited to get back to having a top of the line camera.
With the holidays and a vacation coming up, I'm definitely going to get tons of use out of the new camera.
The 8 pro, otherwise, has been good but not great.
This is the first google phone that I'm not getting unlocked directly from google.
I ordered direct from Verizon and should have it in the coming days.
I know the downside of getting a carrier phone, but the deal was too good to pass up through Verizon.
I have had a few Oneplus devices: Oneplus 1, 3T, 6T and 8 Pro. The update policy left more and more to be desired over time and the merger with Oppo and the expected ColorOS were clearly my reason to switch. What can I say? I have not regretted it yet. The Pixel 6 Pro is a solid device with absolute strength in camera features.

So, you feel like the 6 pro is a definite upgrade to the 1+ 8 pro?
I'm moving from OnePlus 8 pro to Pixel 6 pro ...
The OnePlus 8 pro is a very nice phone overall. My device is rooted and I'm running custom Magisk module to remove the OnePlus bloatware. Even with some extra config which allows apps that normally run on Pixel (e.g. Google's recorder).
I'm a great fan of dark (black) mode ... on my OnePlus 8 pro I have:
- black wallpaper
- substratum with Swift Black (turns almost all of the Google apps into full black)
- OnePlus settings "dark mode" -> this turns other apps (e.g. banking app, strava, ...) into a "dark greyish"
I like this very much since now everything on my phone is either black or darg grey.
Actually that's what I'm slightly concerned about on the Pixel 6 (without root) .. a mixture of black/dark and many other colours ...
Anyway ... we'll see ... Pixel 6 pro will arrive Friday morning so then I'll be able to check it out.
See attached shots.

I have had the Pixel 6 Pro since yesterday and cannot give a long-term review accordingly. But yes. My first impressions are absolutely positive. What I absolutely recommend is a more slip-resistant case. The glass back does not tend to grip. And the pure Android 12 is fun, well-designed and the Pixel6 features are useful extensions.
Was always Nexus/Pixel up to the Pixel 4XL, but then I wanted to give OP a try, and went with the 8 Pro. Good phone. I still have it, still like it, but it never quite lived up to the hype. The camera was the biggest disappointment. With the 6 Pro I'm looking forward to straight forward Android, and one of, if not the best, cameras. Now if Google would just hurry up and ship the friggin' thing. My cancel button went away yesterday, so I'm hoping to get a shipping notice today.
OP6T to GP6
Should be a good replacement.
I have had several OP devices in the past. The One was great, 3 and 3T were just as good as One, the 5 was fine till the drama with the last couple updates, 6T was fine and 8T has been a nightmare to support because of their inconsistent Full Global Package Releases on OP's Download site (they moved Global to Google Servers so the only way to get a full package is when OP releases it on their website). I will be moving to the Pixel 6 Pro and hopefully not looking back.
I'm also in the boat of having multiple Oneplus devices in the past. I currently have a Oneplus 9 Pro, but my Pixel 6 Pro is out for delivery today!
I have had a OnePlus since the 3T and will be moving to the Pixel 6 Pro. Currently using a OnePlus 8 running CRDroid. I have had the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 6 in the past and want to get back to Google updates.
I'm coming from the OP6 and I switched because I wanted a better camera and a telephoto lens. So far I'm quite impressed.
Also, the USB port of my OP6 is completely busted and it takes a while to get a connection
What I don't like that much is the fingerprint reader of the Pixel, I have to aim better and I can't really use the sides of my fingers as it doesn't recognize them very well. That was easier with the OP6. Also, I might miss the headphone jack but I'm getting some free Bose headphones with the Pixel so that issue is probably solved soon
The OP6 is holding up really well with LineageOS 18.1 and GCam though, if the USB port was still fine I might have kept it a bit longer.
Ha, me too, OP6 -> P6P.
Is the OnePlus 8 Pro camera really that bad?
I'm coming from a Pixel 3 XL and am happy with my pictures.
Not sure how the OP8P camera compares with the P3XL camera?
Same here. I've had Oneplus since the 5T and am switching from a 7 Pro. I had the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 6 and loved those devices and the crazy development options. I hacked the hell out of those things. I won't rule out going back to Oneplus but I need to see how the Oppo/ColorOS reviews are and let that shake out. I was going to get either a 8 Pro or 9 Pro, or the Asus Rog phone 5 which looked super cool, but decided to get the Pixel 6 Pro. I hope I'm not disappointed and that also there will be decent development eventually.
Hey,
i had a few years ago a Xiaomi Mi A3 with Android One and it was a very good stable system.
A few years later i bought the Nokia G 50 (cheap, big battery and Android One).
I still have the G50 but its realoy crap.
The display turns randomly off and calls the emergency.
Because the display is of i cant stop the call and the restart with the keys didnt work than.
So i have to explain "Sorry guys, i have a ****ty phone."
Because of these i bought me a xiaomi mi 11 lite 5g ne and wanted to install LineageOS but now i have to wait a week to unlock the bootloader (wth?)
Does someone have an idea how I can make the G50 a little bit better that I can use it in these week without calling the emergency?
Also the battery is really ****ty when its cold and also the GPS doesnt work reliably.
There is no custom ROM for the G50 and also nearly no thread about these phone.
But maybe from you have/had the same phone and the same problems and have a solution?
Thanks
Greetings

Take it to Nokia Care if it is under Warranty. They must fix it. This is all I can suggest.
