I decided to get completely waisted out of my head Friday night.
When I woke I had been sick all over my phone during the night.
There are now sick marks on the screen that I cannot remove with glass cleaner or scrubbing
Any ideas how they can be removed

If it makes you feel any better, I once dropped my Galaxy S6 in the toilet while I was going #2...
Use a mild disinfectant cleaner. Rubbing alcohol is probably the best option, do not wash your device with it, just use a dampened paper towel or cloth to wipe your device. Clorox or Lysol wipes might work too.
If any liquid got into the phone (like solvents such as alcohol) your screen may be damaged.
You vomited on your phone?
I be more worried about the enamel on your teeth.
Stomach acid does the same thing to it and unlike the display glass you can't replace it.
It may be possible to polish it out with cerium glass polish if not too close to the edges. This takes a certain skill set. If it's not too deep it's doable.
Maybe by hand if very limited...
Try using your the -dry- palm of your hand or finger tips. They are abrasive and can polish glass! I've done it before with camera front lens. It takes at least 30 minutes but it works.
Remember to go over as much of the whole surface as possible to keep it even. You didn't think this be easy did you?
Otherwise replace the glass... more lessons from the U of hard knocks.

Eh...Doubtful. It's not just acidity in question, it's chemical makeup. Stomach acid is primarily hydrochloric acid, which while a strong acid (1-2 pH) doesn't react with glass, whereas hydrofluoric acid (3.27) does. Hexafluorosilicic acid is also used although I can't seem to find the pH level for that.

If you're gonna drink, don't overdo it.
If you're gonna overdo it, make sure you drink water and don't puke everywhere.
If you're gonna puke everywhere, don't do it on your phone.

Women, I take the 5th.
Lol, I drank a fifth of Wild Turkey listening to Hendrix around 2008. Hear My Train A'coming was excellent.
I was so drunk I could barely crawl when I tried to get up. Couldn't make up the steps; even with my alcohol impaired judgment that was obvious (a rarity).
I tried 2 or 3 times but the bend in the staircase was impossible for me to maneuver. Due my low altitude no injuries were incurred.
So I ate carpet and went unconscious at the bottom of the steps. Woke up at 2pm the next day. Forgot to puke or die
Probably best to leave the expensive play toys alone when going nutz...

Figures; just 2 nights after buying my GN, i managed to shatter the screen.
The sad part is I don't even remember it happening. WAY TOO MUCH GIN LAST NIGHT. Anyway, It looks like i dropped it face down, or tweaked the phone. Idk.
I took my case off so that it would be easier to get the phone in and out of my pocket. Bad move.
Has anyone else pulled a smooth move and done this as well yet? I have a feeling the screen of the GN is going to be easy to break.
I had a similar story with my Droid Charge. Don't remember explicitly what happened and then the next thing I know the screen was broken...
I bought the GN and got insurance this time. Expensive lesson to learn... =(
Samsung really f'ed up on this phone. It feels so incredibly fragile like i'd be worried to squeeze it too hard or it'll break or something... so much flimsy plastic crap. especially the battery cover, what the hell is that!?...
i guess we're going to need to put some heavy duty cases/screen protectors on this phone.
trying to see if i can claim through warranty before i go through insurance.
if i only had the case on...

Do me a favor and squeeze your phone right now... there is no way your going to break it. And I personally enjoy the back. If they had used another back the phone would be thicker. As far as the screen is concerned, go with zagg.

Yup o fumbled it this morning. Bounced around a few times but luckily it only managed to scuff the bottom by the USB port. Not too bad but I never drop my phones.

Honestly, I'm gonna have to agree.
GN seems pretty damn fragile at this point.
Being young, I've dropped many phones. My last phone, a BB Storm2 (I know, I know), just got dropped face down last week. Maximum result of damage? The corner of the screen chipped a tiny bit.
With how exposed the GN screen is, and even because it's curved...
Reiterating again, I will definitely be investing in cases for this phone. Anyone have experience with cases that come in and out of jeans pockets easily?
I would imagine if it was face down and pressed on it would easily crack.

No they didn't. Ant phone can break if its dropped just right. The only thing you can do is be as smart and careful as possible and have insurance.

I can't agree anymore. Any phone can break if it is dropped just right.
I dropped it while hopping a wall earlier, not a scratch. It landed on the screen, but the contoured display worked.
simple fix.
dont drop the phone. I dropped my droid 1 like once and never dropped my TB. wont drop this one either.

Sorry, accidentally clicked thanks.
But what I was saying. I agree on the battery cover. As far as build quality, of the three phones I own (don't like selling them), the droid 1 feels like the most solidly built. It also feels the heaviest due to the keyboard. As far as the screen, it's glass. Glass breaks or shatters. If you want a screen that doesn't break, get a plastic screen or we could have thicker glass. I agree with the others on how it's dropped. I've dropped my Incredible a few times on pavement, even face down. The only thing that saved it was the lips on the case. The curved glass may contribute. Screen protectors will not really absorb the impact to prevent shattering or breakage.
Bulletproof glass on phones? Lol.
It doesn't feel much cheaper to me though I don't like the battery cover but it probably is related to being thinner than say HTC.
Damn!! I cry for you !! Good luck getting it repaired or replaced through samsung. I dropped my gnex waist down on a hardtop carpet, and surprisingly no scuffs or anything..
48 hours later, and I've got a chip in my glass! I had a ring thrown at me, I was sitting on a couch and my Nexus was face up on the couch itself but half covered by my shirt. The ring just happened to land on it and bounce off. Tiny chip, but I'm so frustrated with myself about it! I dropped my Desire a few times on concrete and all that happened was small dents, now the tiniest little ring knocks it and there you go. Annoyed that I didn't have it facing down, or in my pocket! I hate screen protectors, I prefer pouch cases so I can just put it in there as much as possible.
Going to go to the store I got it from tomorrow and hope to swap it for a brand new one... Wish me luck.

So let me get this straight.....you go get drunk, damage your phone, and don't even know what you did to damage it, and it's Samsung's fault because the phone seems fragile?! You don't even know what you did to it. For all you know, you might have pretended to be scoring a touchdown and spiked the phone down to the ground. I don't see how this has anything to do with the phone being fragile as much as it has to do with you not being able to care for your things.
So you got too drunk and broke your expensive new phone, what's the point of making a thread about it?
Try drinking less next weekend, when you lose control of your limbs and start breaking things that your body telling you something.

Holding your brand new gnex between your ear and shoulder while cooking = bad idea. Especially if you wince when you get boiling oil drops on your face/hands..
it slipped and fell straight on the stonehard floor.
Dropped the phone from ear-height straight on the kitchen tile-floor.. back cover opened, battery fell out. my life didn't flash before my eyes since ICS browser currently does not support flash but I had something like a mini heart attack.
..however, (almost) no damage whatsoever. no scratches, no cracks, neither screen, nor anywhere else except a tiny little crack-ish thing in the top left corner of the device. probably 3 milimeters long, in the middle of the corner. Not sure how the phone landed though. My guess is it hit the floor with the top left corner.
phew! lesson learned.
Any similar experiences folks? Anyone been less fortunate?
That "crack" dead center on the corner isn't a crack. We all have that. It's a seam from manufacturing.
Good thing it didn't fall into boiling oil of death, huh?
Dropped mine a good few times but never any damage so all good. Who needs cases lol
As for flash, personally, my ICS browsers life flashes before it's eyes, as flash works fine in my stock 4.0.2 ICS browser...

Aye, download Adobe Flash from the Market if you feel your stock browser isn't displaying flash.

Well you are all lucky. I have an Otterbox commuter that I took off to clean, while the phone was in my hoodie pocket, i started shuffling (LOL). Fell out of my pocket (while the case was still off), 3ft to linoleum floor. Top left corner of the glass is cracked. From ear speaker to a bit above it, and down to the corner where the LCD starts. Luckily it doesn't affect the screen itself, but it bugs the hell out of me.

The only time I've done it the phone was nestled inside of its sock-home. I got out of the car, looked for my phone, saw it backside down on the asphalt (well I didn't know it was backside at the time). Otterbox + phone-sock = life saver.
Not going to lie though, I chainsmoked like a fiend after that.
I dropped mine too. Early morning my alarm started to ring. I grabbed the Nexi, but it was in wall charger, and jumped out of my hand (samsung cable is VERY short). Buttom line. It smashed into the radiator, and my heart stopped too. The screen actually cracked, but only at the bottom left corner of the front :/
I will have to live with that crack for the rest of my Gnexus days.
It reminds me of, the day I got the almighty iPhone. I was in the bathroom taking a dump, and somehow it slipped out of my hands, and fell maybe 2-3 feet. The screen was completely shattered. The day after, I thaded it for the band new original Galaxy S, and I was now in love with android.

Curious to see how many people are taking their watches into pools, the shower, etc. I have yet to expose mine to water, but interested to do so because hey, that's one of the big perks of our watch compared to many of the other android wear watches, water proofing(as far as the limit allows). Mine accidentally ended up in the Gulf of Mexico due to a little boating accident! It was not my intention to submerge it in salt water, but I dunked it in fresh water shortly after to get the salt off, all while powered on, and so far so good. Kind of surreal having a touch screen computer like this under water while powered on...very cool. I don't take it swimming, but being here on the Florida coast, it is definitely exposed to plenty of water, and no issues so far. I would be most concerned about chlorine/salt/etc damaging the charging port or rubber cover, so I always make sure I wash it well in clean fresh water after it's exposed at the pool or beach.
NOTE: It is NOT RATED FOR SALT WATER, so please don't try this with yours!
I've given my kids a bath with it on and it gets fully submerged. No issues so far. I've also wore it on a few very sweaty runs. I had to turn Theater mode on though since the screen would act strangely with all of the water hitting it. I have no doubt this thing could handle a swim like a champ.

Maybe put it in one of those waterproof bag cases while in the shop? My inner screen seems to attract dust like crazy, though a wipe with a microfiber cloth gets rid of the dust.

Interesting. I live in a pretty dusty environment compared to most, because I leave the windows open all of the time and in the bush where I live there's lots of dust. I don't get a dusty screen at all.
I used my ZF2 in a VERY dusty environment at work (next to a paint booth where they sanded body parts all day), and I never had an issue. These phones are tougher than people think
I had mine in the snow the other day sledding. It complained about water in the charge port and not to charge until it was dry. All good again.

Not sure why people stress out so much over this phone. I've literally never been any more careful with this phone than any other phone. Just got back from Florida and spent a week on the beach with it. A couple of times it had sand on the front screen. My 3 year old constantly drops it when I let him watch YouTube on it and its still fine. Only case I've ever used is the aramid case.
It's over hyped that this phone is so delicate and it's actually pretty tough.

Hey everbody,
I got some stains on the display that cannot be removed any more. If you move over them with the finger tip, you can feel a unevenness down. I have no idea where they could have been from.
What do u guys think. Im usually really careful with my smartphone.
I am by no means an expert first and foremost.
But when I have something I can't get off my glasses with regular cleaning, I will use some toothpaste and a soft microfiber cloth and that has just the right abrasiveness to get whatever is on my glasses off them. Granted there's more cleaning involved but it works for me

I think that you have not been careful enough and somehow damaged your display. It's possible that you only damaged the oleophobic coating, and not the underlying glass (should be easy to tell by looking at the display when it's ON - do the pixels underneath the damage still work?).
There is no other explanation to this, at least not from the looks of it (since you talk about "a[sic] unevenness down" - implying not superficial stains, but serious damage). There are extremely rare instances where displays damage themselves ("spontaneous shatter") but that is another matter entirely and has nothing to do with your - apparent - circular damages (since those lead to the shatter of the entire tempered glass). I'd wager either fire or acid or something else destructive happened here, but only you can tell.
Fire damage leaves a distinctive mark
Gorilla Glas Victus has a 6-7 on Mohs scale of hardness, you can pick whatever might have been your problem:
I have the same issue, appeared two days ago. I have one small one that looks the same as your small ones, On mine the mark is under the top glass, it almost looks like dust under an applied screen protector. If I look at it at 180 deg for the mark I can't see it at all, not until i move about 5 deg off 180, then at about a 45 deg angle it dissapears again.
To me that very big one looks like damage to the top surface, then the others look like they are below the glass
did you possibly get alcohol on the screen that dried up? I have something similar that happened to my screen and the only thing I can remember that possibly got on my screen was alcohol. I woke up the next day and noticed the spots on my phone but only when the screen is off

Alcohol is bad for the phone's display because it'll heat up the display and the glue inside will lose its stickiness. This causes the display to fall out or some damages like this cause the display to burn inside and show like this!
@randylahey786 Why in all heavens should alcohol heat up the display unless you burn it on the display/phone ? ..... and just for the record: i have been using isopropanol since ages to clean glasses, binoculars and, yes, also smartphone displays. BTW the nice tabs provided with many display protectors for cleaning the display are just alcohol swabs as well.....

I have seen issues with some people who have used sanitizer to clean the display and the display came out! Sanitizer contains alcohol in it, also isopropanol comes as a cleaning liquid especially for phones so they would've tested it but sanitizer or alcohol drinks are worst!

I agree, as you never know what stuff is included in those sanitizers and of course alcoholic drinks may include sugar and other ingredients that could leave residue on the screen after drying out.
I always get pure isopropanol for cleaning purposes, this way I know it's safe to use
Quite a few people on r/GooglePixel have had the same issue upon release - it's been speculated that it's something to do with the oleophobic coating not adhering to the glass & is a manufacturing fault.
I would contact Google and see if they will replace the device for you as it will probably get worse over time.
it looks like your oleophobic coating has been removed. Can you post some different photos? Do you have another smartphone you can add to the photo? Your display looks very dull (but it could be the photo).
I recommend the toothpaste and micro fiber trick the other comment suggested. then grab some oleophobic spray and coat your screen again. It takes 2 or 3 coatings to get it even but it works well. Unfortunately coating isn't covered in Google's Official Warranty (it says its not on their website). There's a good oleophobic brand that many people use and they swear by it but I forget the name.
But I would get the display even and unform first before doing anything - maybe even using a polisher tool with a really soft brush. Someone did this on reddit on their 6 Pro a few months ago to remove scratches and it worked really well.
I would also try to get as many reddit and xda posts as you can and document them, then contact Google and see what they can do. Also maybe try going to your nearest UbreakIfixit - see what they say? They see hundreds of different phones a day. But there seems to be over 15 posts on reddit that shows the same type of "Spotting" or "blotches" that appear on the 6 / 6 Pro. Not sure what exactly is going on there but some have gotten their devices replaced if I remember correctly (but others were told to kick rocks by google support, so make sure you prepare yourself before calling).

Neither sanitizer nor alcohol belong on a display. If people damage their phones on purpose or through the sheer act of incompetence, Google is hardly at fault... a phones display should only be cleaned with a fine microfiber cloth - and if the display is too dirty, only a special display cleaner should be used. Even that however should never be DIRECTLY applied to the display, but only used on a microfiber cloth again, which is then used in a slightly wet state to clean the display.
Since I know people, and people do stuff like that (smashing glasses cleaning cloth drenched in alcohol, sanitizer or something like that onto their phones), it's hard to judge/evaluate these threads here. Often it just seems like something that can easily be caused by a user, and is probably not a hardware issue.

Hey everbody,
I got some stains on the display that cannot be removed any more. If you move over them with the finger tip, you can feel a unevenness down. I have no idea where they could have been from.
What do u guys think. Im usually really careful with my smartphone.

was wondering if you tried google support at all, just to see what they would say. there's other instances of "blotching" on reddit on the Google Pixel forum. Do you know how it might have happened now that its been a few more days>?

Same issue. It was caused by dripping some salsa on the screen at a restaurant and didn't notice it right away. First time I've ever had anything like this happen to a phone screen.
