Alright guys, basically whats happening to my phone is that I would just have my phone randomly surfing the web or checking Facebook then out of nowhere it just randomly reboots. Most of the time it ges stuck on the Google screen and I had to do a battery pull and retry and after a while of repeating that it finally would load properly. .Also my phone would say that its charging even when the charger isn't even in and even it reboots sometimes it shows the charging screen when i haven't even plugged the charger in
If you guys can solve this wouthout favtory reseting that would be great !
DETAILS
-Not rooted in anyway
- Android 4.2.1
- Got it about 7 or 8 months ago
- this happened before but it would just reboot it wouldnt do anything else, I reseted it and it went away but now its back and its worse.
Any answer would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
Sorry to say but when your phone is to the point where it has issues that seem to be system deep, the only thing you can do that is almost guaranteed to fix it is flash the factory image to your device. This is different that doing a factory reset which doesnt really do a full system wipe and reload as far as I know. Instructions can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
Note that you will need to backup everything off your storage (files/pictures/music/etc.). This will wipe your device clean.
Lastly, if your device thinks it is charging when its not, you could have a bad port. Hopefully its just the system though which can be fixed with the above suggestions. If not, you might need to have it fixed if possible. But it sounds like a system issue.
I was just wondering if anyone else has an issue with their Note 4 rebooting randomly with no external input. This started happening with the Android 6.0 update both on the download from here and the AT&T official release, Any Ideas? I've already purchased a new battery due to a separate issue, any idea?
I had the same problem. The phone would freeze and randomly reboot. Sometimes the system crashes and asked me for the typed-in password (not fingerprint). Sometimes when I charge the phone, and unplug the power cable, the charging led stays lit and the battery has to be pulled. I decided to switch the battery with my wife's Note 4 and see if the effects remained. So far I haven't had any problems after switching the battery, so I believe the battery may be the cause of all these issues. I'll keep you updated on the issues.
I'm back. The battery replacement didn't fix the reboots. I think my phone's hardware is permanently damaged. :crying:

I'm downgrading to stock 5.1.1 right now. I'll keep you updated. I placed an order for a Galaxy S7 Edge International Version (G935F) yesterday.

can you downgrade to Android 5.0.1 and help me with my problem?
its something completely different to this topic
I've been having the same issue, started about 2 weeks ago. phone would start being sluggish then if I continue tapping on screen, it'll reboot. At least once I saw it go into recovery & reinstall firmware(?). Another time it just sat at the bootloader screen waiting for software download or something till I took out the battery. Most likely it's a software issue related to 6.0 update or updates afterwards. taking out the SD card helped a bit.
but basically got annoyed & upgraded to LG V20 today. Coincidentally, there was another person at the AT&T store with a Note 4 having the same issue.
Mine just rebooted twice on me a while ago, first is emergency calls only now the reboots then what. And yes the slow charging is a problem too. MM got serious issue dam att

use wakelock its an app u get it from play store.it makes ur cpu always running.some how it fixes the problem of random reboots. dl it and set it to partial lock (the 5th option)
Same problem. Just started a few weeks ago. REALLY frustrating having to enter my password every 3-4 minutes. NEVER buying another Samsung, too many damn issues with this phone.
My reboots tend to happen once the phone goes below 60% battery. It's fine above 60%. Once it goes below 50%, the reboots tend to happen with any intense network activity. The phone will often go from 50% to 22%. I forgot what the 30's and 40's look like. I will try the Wakelock app.
Ugh. I posted about this a few weeks ago. It's started happening more frequently and will occasionally go into a boot loop or show 0% battery even though there's a charge.
Has anyone found any solution? I haven't tried wiping / resetting but I'm getting close to trying it.
Here is a cautionary tale for you. My completely stock, unroooted phone started acting the same exact way. On the 4th or 5th battery pull (to fix a frozen screen) it just crapped out. It's totally unresponsive. Deader than a door nail. Tried everything. The download mode, discharging by power button depression/battery removal, etc. Adb shell command does not detect it. Nor Odin. Computer throws up a qhsusb_bulk error when I plug it into pc. I have NO CLUE how to fix it & I am desperately seeking a solution. Please proceed wisely with your oddly acting phones & don't let this happen to you.

Same issue. Just got off the phone with Samsung support, all possibility of having this particular phone with this particular issue sent in for evaluation has been suspended. Translation, they know it is an issue and will not stand by the changes they push to their products (latest OS). I am researching the prospect of legal action since THEY pushed the new OS against my request. Shouldn't that affect the warranty or coverage? Consulting my attorney friends as we speak. Will let you know. I am not sure how WakeLock will help, it is not going to sleep, it is repeatedly power cycling through a kernel process until the battery overheats or it reboots.
Same issue
Since Marshmallow, my 910A will get sluggish or freeze, shut down, sometimes reboot and sometimes just brick (temporarily). Sometimes--more often in recent days, I get a "dll_mmc read fail" message and the target that says do not stop downloading. No matter what I've tried--factory and soft resets, cache clearing, battery pull, replacement, and SD card switch, contacting AT&T and Samsung rep--it doesn't seem to change. This is a daily issue and becoming more frequent. Any suggestions or do I just need a new phone? Thank you.
Hello everyone,
I recently decided to buy a used Nexus and it seems to turn off every 5 - 20 minutes. Sometimes the tablet will lock itself first then around 5 minutes later it will turn off. I have opened the tablet to check if the connection to the battery was loose or anything else but everything seems to be properly attached. I have not rooted the tablet yet, but I did reinstall stock firmware just in case it was a software problem but it still continues to randomly shut off. Any clues on how to fix? Thanks!
Please make two tests:
connect and run on external power
use a fan to lower the tablet's temperature

Hello everyone,
So I had my phone in may 2016, worked very well until the beginning of december 2017. Bootloop started right when I was shuffling my spotify mix. I used some fixes like the hair dryer on the back to get it to boot once or twice to also toggle boot fixing options, after few hours of the same day I've used this fix on this forum thoroughly:
https://www.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x-bootloop-fix-boot-phone/
and managed to make it come back to life with android version 7.1.2 but it was overwhelmingly slow.(stayed on that for 2-2.5 weeks) I tried reddit and asked the wonderful "xcnathan32" and he responded back with another flash that ended up being much faster as if nothing happened. Sadly a week later it just turned off while also listening to music on spotify but this time for good.
Two days I've been pushing the power buttons with different random combinations with volumes up/down with no use. I tried connecting via USB, the computer identifies something (once actually showed NEXUS 5X media but not anymore) and on plugging it again it doesn't. I push the phone's power button to find out that there's connection again but not recognized by my computer.
I cannot put it back for warranty as I altered the phone with the first flash and the guarantee period has been passed. I don't think sending my phone to a specialist will do something substantial unless he opens it up and it becomes a hardware issue.
I have been disconnected for more than 8 days now and haven't been to communicate with a lot of people locally and internationally. Please, I would really appreciate any help!!
Hi,
I’ve got a Note 5 AI (SD 636, dual rear camera) that I bought used from eBay, so don’t know much about its history. The phone worked just fine for a couple of days, then, and while I was watching a local video using MxPlayer the screen freezed, then turned black when I pushed to power button. The phone got hanged …….…. it was completely dead, couldn’t force it to power off, nothing happened when plugged to charger, no vibration, no led………
The phone came back to life the day after, when the battery has completely discharged……….so, I charged the phone, did a factory reset, applied all the updates and then launched again my video with MxPlayer, after about 30 min…BANG, hanged, and dead again.
My phone came back again when the battery discharged………after a complete charge, I launched my video using VLC this time and was able to loop the video for more than 8H without problems.
I thought to myself that for some reason my phone doesn’t like MxPlayer, not a big deal, I can live with that………. but yesterday, the bastard did it again, and this time I was watching YouTube. So, I’m waiting right now for the battery to discharge.
What annoys me more than the hanging problems is that I can’t force the phone to power off, I tried all possible buttons combinations without success.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks

Locked Bootloader
Update:
Hello,
I unlocked my bootloader and flashed a custom rom (AOSiP 8.1), the phone worked fine for 3 days, but got hanged again !!!!! no way to turn it off/on again until the battery discharges completely.
Once plugged to my PC, I found out that my phone went to EDL mode (Qualcomm HS-USB Qdloader 9008)……If I push the power button for about 15s the phone disconnects from my PC but reconnects again after 5s and still in EDL mode !!!!!
So, What I can say for now is:
1. For some reason, my phone goes randomly into EDL mode bootloop.
2. Doesn’t seem to be a software issue (tried both, stock and custom Rom)
3. The only way to boot the phone normally is to wait until the battery discharges.
I did a lot a lot of web searching before posting, no one seems to have the same issue.
Waiting for your help, Thanks
Have you tried a factory reset? Also, another rom

I did a factory reset, but didn't fix the issue.
Haven't tried another rom so far, I guess that I have to unlock the bootloader first.
