General Anyone else Unimpressed?

I came from a 7 Pro and honestly have been pretty unimpressed with the 9 Pro.
The 7 Pro was probably the first android device that I have had in a long time that didn't give me any issues and the performance from day 1 to this day is amazing.
Now fast Forward I got the 9 pro when it was announced, It feels sluggish in comparison to my 7 pro and has tons of issues with Android Auto.
My biggest complaint is Wifi reception is exceptionally poor, my 7 Pro runs circles around my 9 pro when it comes to wifi reception.
I've tried flashing custom roms on the 9 pro but no matter the device honestly just feels like a turd. So I am back on stock.

My last device was a OP 6T, so the OP 9Pro is several years later.....can't say I I'm having a similar experience. The 120hz beautiful display is buttery smooth. I only use wifi at my house and it's been fine. I personally think the camera is WAY BETTER than my 6t. It may not be Google Pixel quality but it's damn close.
My one and only gripe is the battery life. 6 hour average of SOT is not good.

Latest firmware (see sticky)? I have no issues at all. WiFi and Android Auto working fine. Smoother than my 8 pro.

One thing regarding Android Auto: you have to enable developer options and change the standard USB behaviour to File Transfer.

Honestly over the years coming from 8t but started with 5t and having everyone up. the innovation died after 7 pro. just straight led to death(poor leadership). but with hassleblad and big sensors camera now comes into play. as for the rest of the hardware, well its current hardware what else do I say.. Oxygen is oxygen not the device, so software is equally relevant from previous versions... ltpo is an experiment we'll see how that goes. but to answer, generally I agree not impressed but not upset

If not for 5G, I'd have stuck with my 7 pro (I know I could have gotten a 7t pro but I figured I'd spend a bit more and get something new)

I'm done with it. I love the device itself. The design, the hardware, love it. Hell, even love the pine green color. But the software is a complete clusterfuck of inane bugs and failures. I've never seen a device screw up google assistant before, but here we are. It's the only phone (of the 4 sitting on my desk) that doesn't know who my wife is, when I say "call my wife". Android Auto gets completely borked while driving. It doesn't ring when I get a call. A PHONE THAT DOESN'T RING. I'm in sales, and this is my work phone. This is a disaster. Oh, and the mute switch is bugged too, which is really odd. When the phone comes out of DND mode in the morning, it thinks the mute switch is in the silent position, even though it's (always) set to ring. Just silly.
Really annoyed I spent this much money on a phone I can't even use 2 months later. I went back to my S21, which I'm NOT a fan of. But at least it works as it should.

Disappointed with camera tbh can get some nice shots granted but soon as zoom past 3x it all goes pear shaped all the promo hype prior to release with the moons I was expecting at least half decent shots but zoom is terrible out of focus and we'll just crap really very disappointing and collaboration with hassleblad was basically a marketing gymick to fool us into thinking it's going to be a epic camera , oh we fell for that hook line and sinker , let's hope they can turn it around in future updates , not holding my breath , it's odd the moon was big and bright last night a nice orange tinge and looked a lot closer than when held camera up to get a shot it was much further away looking through camera and to get as close as it looked to the naked eye I had to zoom in 20x and we'll then it's just a fuzzy ball , pointless having zoom if it can't get clear shot really

Can only hope so , another thing is The difference is pictures like colours taking same picture multiple times theres no consistency Evey one looks different some out of focus some look brighter some look dull or washy think they need to work harder at getting better consistency especially switching back and forth from wide angle etc it's terrible

Have you ever tried to reset the device and start over?
I read about software bugs in OxygenOS all the time. But somehow I've never had a problem myself. Before the 9Pro, I never had any problems with the OnePlus 3t also.

My 9 Pro works fine, Fast & never hot. It get's a little worm when it charges, but thats normal.
I am uninmpressed with samsung bs & iphose creap.

I agree it's getting better and better. My issue is that it was pretty bad when first released and some of these bugs should have to post release I think. Just my opinion.

It's getting better ever so slightly. But OOS 11 in my opinion never came out of beta. It ruined the 7 series, and honestly, it is hot GARBAGE on the 9 Pro, the UI/UX issues are annoying, things that just haven't been fixed and things that can be replicated on the 8 Pro that I also have.
The hardware is brilliant and some of the best ever imo (better than the iPhone 12 series), but OnePlus is seriously let down nowadays by their poor software and company decisions. Up until 1.5 years ago I had no issues with OnePlus Support, but now it just seems like customer service is the last thing on their agenda. Fairly disappointed but I guess this is the price to pay for their obvious complacency.

I would say the opposite of OP. Came from a 6T which is still going strong (gave to my sister). 9 pro is like WAY BETTER than 6T. The biggest gripe with oneplus has always been cameras but on 9 pro. It's frigging amazing. Initial reviews of camera were bad but they definitely improved it with updates. That's why didn't buy it staright away. The screen is gorgeous & buttery smooth. I love the curved screen. Always wanted one.
Just 2 issues - The battery life is meh. It's like pretty avg or below avg. The other issue is there is stuttering sometimes due to frame drops sometimes.
No issue with colors OS getting merged with OOS if it improves update speed & stability. They can still improve the camera a bit more. Some shutter lag is still there.

I don't use Android Auto, but I never had any problem with the DND mode. Works perfectly every day. OOS 11.2.9.9 has a few minor bugs, but what phone doesn't? I'm mostly happy with my OP9P. Can't fathom where your "disaster" and "clusterfuck" are coming from.

Literally from the exact things I described in my post. Also you're talking about 9.9, my post was from July and the phone has long since been retired.

Question Flaws of the Pixel 6 Pro demonstrated when compared to S22 Ultra

I've used the Pixel 6 Pro on and off since November. For the most part, it has been a very good phone, but after using the S22 Ultra for over 2 months now, I realize how much better the P6P could be. The 5G reception, the charging speeds, and overall stability of the Snapdragon S22 Ultra are vastly superior to the Pixel 6 Pro. To be fair, the P6P has a cleaner software experience, better camera in some respects, and better speakers, but the essentials are done better by the S22U. Like many of us, I had hoped that the P6P would have been the Samsung flagship with stock Android, but it's turning out to have similar problems as the Exynos chips, even down to running warm. There are promises for big things in the June or July update, but each update has brought new bugs. I'm considering just selling the P6P and seeing if the Pixel 7 Pro fixes anything.

My girlfriend has the S21 Ultra, I have the P6P, andddd everyime I grab her phone I am surprised at how smooth it is. Every. Time.

I am getting pretty tired of having to borrow my wife's 22 when I need to make a phone call.

I had the s22ultra SD variant, sold it because if the crappy UI and micro stutters I experienced constantly. Regardless of the hardware, what good is it if the software is still in beta production.
A lot of gimmicky features like bixby, knox, etc.
Samsung has potential but they suck.

there is a 300$ difference between these two phones. the s22 ultra BETTER have the better experience.

I have to say otherwise, my girlfriend has the s22 ultra and I got the P6P, I wouldn't exchange it in a thousand years. Performance wise it stutters, quite a lot, to the point of semi freezing. Charging and battery wise we both get home more or less at same time with same battery, I've disabled adaptive charging tho. The stylus is not that impressive, not good enough for note taking. Everything else is meh, I love the purity of android and came a long way, no need for duplicate apps and super updates! Câmera also so so the same quality on both, but she has clearer night pictures (more realistic), pixel pictures at night seems to overwhelm the colours a bit.

Don't forget the shutter speed, Samsung constantly blurs moving things in pictures whereas pixel has no issue tracking pictures of moving objects and is virtually instant from pressing the button and taking the picture

There is no doubt, in my mind, that the Pixel blows Sammy away in every category, especially camera. But not in signal reception. Unfortunately I need my phone to make and receive phone calls.

I own both and spend time in a fallout bunker. My S22 Ultra and iPhone 13 Pro Max can make calls and text. The P6P has no service. The radio hardware is most definitely the P6P's Achilles heel.

Most reliable radio hardware I've had. Never had service dropped.
I used to have to have Tasker automatically cycle airplane mode whenever service was lost on all my prior phones, which were all Qualcomm flagships.

That's something else too. While picture quality is pretty good, the picture taking experience falls behind.
Hopefully most of the issues addressed can be resolved or mitigated through software updates, I hope, also for my own sake.

I agree with the signal reception. I have been working from home past 2 years, so I haven't had as much time to get frustrated, meaning using it while out and about. But this phone has the absolute worst reception of any phone I have ever owned and finding out just how horrible it is as I start traveling more. I am just outside metro DC area and have a lot of experience with other phones plus friends and family. Why, just why couldn't they have stuck with a trusted chip? Verizon, fwiw. I will eventually switch to something non Google. Other parts work great, but they call it a smartphone, not a camera connection device.

I agree with ya here, however, I'm on T-Mo. So, it's definitely a problem with the modem needing some very specific code changes. But thankfully enough, these changes have finally appeared to happen about a month back on a beta version of the OS. Now, the latest beta for Android 12.1 and the latest beta for Android 13 both contain modem updates that finally make my service more functional and reliable.
The only downside here is that they won't be pushing this update OTA for another month and a half (and it also took them a while to get to this, haha).

That would be fantastic if it really helps. I am in my house right now. My old Pixel 2 XL, Wife's Pixel 4a, my last Pixel 4a5g all had excellent service here. If I turn my wifi off I can't make a damn call. Today I was fishing at a pond that is in the middle of 3 major roads, had zero service. I will wait and see what comes from this. In your opinion, what are you thinking the change is, but I don't know how to ask you to quantify it.

Not sure. But I think that it has something to do with the general code requirements for this modem, as it was notoriously known for having reception problems in the past (as the Samsung S20 international variant used the same modem). It seems that Google was still recovering from the big lawsuit hit that dug into their phone development department's spending power before the Pixel 6 series had gone into production (was around $270M). I'm hoping that they are able to dig their way out of that hole by the time the Pixel 8 series is in production - as that will be around the time I upgrade my phone again, haha =P.

Did a software update solve the S20 problems? I did a quick search but not seeing that exact resolution. If that update in beta right now helps a lot they may save a customer here, but I am not upgrading to a future Pixel if they put a documented problem in this phone and the solution is to upgrade out of the problem.

I have owned both and they are both flawed.
I still have the S22U and ultimately it is IMO the better option. Yes the shutter lag is annoying and OneUI has it’s frustrations too but the flaws on the Pixel are bigger, FPS was a daily frustration (and the ultrasonic FPS on samsung is just better than all optical ones IMO) auto brightness was just dumb and as other have said the radio is weaker.
I am hopeful that lessons will have been learned with the Pixel 7

I have the vanilla S22, same with everyone says, it has micro stutter on the UI frequently, and the usual Samsung not able to capture moving objects. For those reasons, I am moving to Pixel 7 Pro this year.

To be fair, the P6 Pro is in another price league. You compare an Audi A5 to a BMW 7 (significant price difference). That still doesn't excuse, however, the especially weak reception quality and temperature problems (quick overheating under stress) on a P6 Pro. Basic features need to work, full stop. And Pixels struggle with that at times.

Yeah, enjoy your new phone! Also, come back if you can ever get that thing rooted and stuff =). That (and the interface design) is primarily what is holding me back from Samsung phones - but I'm not sure if that has recently changed.

I actually traded my s22 ultra for this p6pro and it was the best decision I ever made, hands down!

So, I was just thinking to myself last night that after they the introduction of the new aggressive security API that detects root and renders my Gpay useless (which is just the beginning) I am finding it less and less worthwhile to have an Android device, which I've had now for 15 years. I use a Mac for computing and I'm beginning to wonder whether I do the same for my phone. I'm so sick of Google's crappy products and customer service. I just might join you before the value of this phone nose dives.

Actually, wait, I missed the beginning sentence that you wrote and noticed it after I quoted it and posted my reply. So, it might be true. My apologies. When does that security API roll out?

It's out. I posted earlier a link to the discussion on GitHub. Oddly enough, not all users have been affected yet. Then again, that makes sense given the range of variables. I can't even use my craigslist app because I can't pass the newly imposed tests.

I decided to dump the stock rom in favor of Pixel Experience, unrooted. I now have nearly all of the features I want including face unlock and zero problems.

Good call on the switch to T-Mo. I just did the same last month and very happy I did

Comments like this amaze me. The implementation of Face Unlock on these ROMs is the same as on cheap Chinese phones. It is not secure and it's a gimmick.
Also, I want a phone that works out of the box. Swapping ROMs gets old fast nowadays and unless one is a developer experimenting, it's not worth the hassle and the bugs for most.
If the camera on the S23 is as good as it promises to be, I'd be done with the P6P. Or go to the iPhone 14 and get the best battery life with everything turned on.

Can't pinpoint when but over the last couple iterations of stock Android it's felt more like changes have been made for the sake of change rather than the benefit of the end user.
This is most apparent on the stock ROM. Everything was designed to be in your face constantly and I hate it so I'm running something else as of late.
I'm still not a fan of the new QS. My Pixel hasn't changed that. It's ugly, it's inconsistent (even on the 13 beta).
The fact of the matter is custom ROMs have always been better than nearly any carrier/OEM variation of Android and it just so happened that as I went back from OnePlus to a Pixel that development for Pixels would totally go down the drain relative to prior models.
That's partially because Google trashed the UI at its core and reversing that would take extensive work that just isn't worth the time.
This is the quickest I have ever gotten kind of annoyed with a device and it's completely unrelated to the hardware. The hardware of the 6, in spite of numerous criticisms, has always been great to me but Android as software is just... Dying in my eyes.
They get away with it as it's still more flexible as a platform than iOS but honestly they can only go so far.
If things don't improve either with 14 next year or with OnePlus doing a complete turn around in software, I'm out. I'll look more into the buggy affairs of Linux smartphones.

I have the luxury of having the 6 pro and the note 20 ultra, so when I am fed up with the six pro being goofy or glitchy I can switch back to that and generally enjoy it but have always been a fan of the nexus, pixel line so no matter how which it is I find myself wanting to come back. Lately considering ditching the 6 pro myself and considering the OP9 pro on special... Flashing 13 beta kind of help. The new visuals seem really cool but definitely made Android auto even quirkier. Maybe I should just consider the rooting and romming stuff again, but haven't really messed up it since maybe my OnePlus 7 pro

I wouldn't go to an iPhone if they gave me a case of them for free.
The only issue I have with my P6P is how hot it gets when charging, the loss of audio for notifications when I connect to the BT in my work van, the poor radio for both 5G and LTE in weaker signal areas and the wretched battery life
I'm curious to see how P7P is with Android 13, which is how I'll probably go in October when it's released

As an owner of both the S22U and the P6P, I prefer the P6P.

I'm having the same issues plus I can never get a full signal even in a strong signal area where both my tablet and my other phone which is an S22 get a full signal, my previous phone on my other line was a OnePlus 10 Pro. Lost 40% battery in just a couple hours yesterday while getting our daughter moved into her dorm room and I didn't use the phone at all and it got really warm. I also have an issue with really slow data on this phone. I am not a fan of any of that. I like the but hate all the issues.

Lost 40% battery in just a couple hours yesterday while getting our daughter moved into her dorm room and I didn't use the phone at all and it got really warm. I also have an issue with really slow data on this phone. I am not a fan of any of that. I like the but hate all the issues.

I don’t really have issues with data speeds. But I’m usually in 5G so I’m pretty solitaire but the problem is if I’m in like one bar 5G, forget about it I can’t load a website. Same thing with one bar of LTE. And the problems I listed are you know, pretty profound. They’re not all bad but the battery life is absolutely horrifying. I’m a tech for Dish Network and if I get you a job with 100% strength and it takes 2 1/2 hours to do the job when I’m done I’m at like 70%.
At the end of the day though, I just can’t buy into Samsung and all that bloat wear. My daughter has an S 22 ultra. It’s a hell of a nice phone call man there’s just so much extra junk on there.

Question How satisfied are you with your Pixel 6 Pro?

I have to switch from my beloved Google Pixel 3 XL to a new Phone. Since i love the pure Android experience i would love to buy another Pixel Phone 10.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254.
So my question is for all those who have bought/used a Pixel 6Pro. How happy are you with the phone?

This is a difficult question to answer simply because everyone uses their phones differently. For me, the Pixel 6 Pro is 'fine'. It does its job. It has a very good camera. There is no lag. I have it rooted so no ads, which is great. Since I've upgraded pretty regularly, going from the 4 to the 5 to the 6 hasn't been any kind of amazing upgrade for me. But since you're coming from a 3, it certainly will feel like a pretty decent upgrade.
The only complaint I have is that it sometimes restarts on its own. Typically at night while it's on the Pixel Stand. I have no idea why. I think it might have to do with overheating? I've been meaning to wipe it and start fresh but that's a royal pain in the butt so I haven't done it yet.

I've been mostly satisfied with mine. I feel that it's not quite as nice an improvement as when I went with my first Google branded device, the Pixel 1 (I came from the LG G3), but my wife and I have been lucky with rarely any issue.

I really happy with Google Pixel 6 Pro. I couldn't write anything negative about it. The Android 13 update fixed all the bugs I knew about.

A13 fixed everything, and it's just ultra smooth and fluid and animations are the smoothest thing ever, camera is actually better than S22U software is top notch, pleasure to use, no jittery lags like those Samsung overheating phones, AI and voice typing is just generations ahead, finger print senser could be better that's all

Do you like random bugs and mobile connection issues along with horrible battery life on stock? Then the Pixel 6 Pro is for you! I used to Love the Pixel Series after the Nexus Series and this one combined with the Tensor chip has gotten Google into a weird area plus with them restricting API and permissions. They advertise open source but the bootloader and Radio are closed source. Developing has been rough with every iteration of Android and now they have actual fuses for the bootloader. What ever happened to I get what I pay for? Not a pixel 7. I've been an Android supporter and Superuser since the dawn of the LG Ally. It's really all about what you need a phone for, The Camera for the Pixel Series are phenomenal but the should never have been released with Kernel and Radio bugs from Day 1.

For my usage, I sold my 6 Pro because of bugs, carrier connection issues, Tensor chip support, etc.

Garbage phone if you actually need to make a phone call. Rest of it is pretty good.

Been very satisfied with mine. Have not really had any of the issues some others have encountered.

Just spend some time perusing the P6 pro section to see if this is the phone for you. If you're not into rooting, there are better alternatives.

If I were you, I probably would wait for the Pixel 7.
This phone is too hot comparing to the Pixel 3 while doing same operations

I love this phone and would 100% get it again. Battery life has been amazing. Buttery smooth animations (iOS has nothing on this). Making calls and receptions have been no better or worse than other phones Ive owned. No bugs or glitches for me. Fingerprint scanner has improved since A13. Maybe I got lucky?

I think every phone after Android 12 does that. P6 Pro, Mi Mix 2 and 1+9 Pro all reboot when I'm sleeping on A12/13.
To answer the thread question:
After having multiple phones from the 888 generation I've settled for the P6 Pro.
- Smoothest ui
- Less is more in terms of os (better than any aosp rom on other phones and their stock roms)
- Best camera for what I do (I do miss manual mode from 1+ and Sony but oh well)
- Longest battery life
- Gaming is on par if you use a cooler but Genshin/Tower of Fantasy will demolish this phone after like 20-30min

It hasn't been bad enough to make me want to get rid of it but the battery life is decidedly average and i have never had a phone get so hot so often.

Yeah its fine phone, does the job, I`m always changing phones trying to find the the phone I can use for long term, and I actually have brand new 6 pro replacement from Google coming today, since my boot-looped and hard brick, I have decided I will just sell the 6 pro replacement, and move to the Sony Xperia 1 IV, I did use Xperia 1 IV global version for few days and loved it, the US version is supposed to be released next week, I was able to find FocusCamera.com to have few in stock already, and willing to sell them before the release date, but the Xepria 1 IV is not cheap compared to the 6 pro, but the Sony has the old android features, like microsd, flat screen, led notification, headphone jack, dedicated camera button, side mounted fingerprint reader in the power button, 120hz screen and with 4k resolution. So if the Xperia 1 IV wasn`t available I would be sticking with the 6 Pro, one thing always drove me nuts is the power button is above the volume buttons, prefer the button below the volume keys, but I have no other issues with the 6 pro.

For what it's worth, my Pixel 6 Pro has never rebooted on its own at any time of the day or night, and I'm pretty sure my wife's Pixel 6 Pro hasn't, either. We've had ours since late last October. I'm rooted, she's not.
She probably would've mentioned it to me, since she mentions any problem she does ever have every few months, which is usually solved by rebooting. I think she (and maybe my brother too) is finally used to just trying to reboot manually when they do have any weird quirk before they ask me about it.
It's funny since she's the one who introduced me to the I.T. Crowd. I digress.

How long is your battery lasting ?

Personally, very satisfied.

It's the okayest phone I've ever owned. I won't recommend it to anyone though. It's the first phone over ever owned (and I've owned Androids since 2.3, and even Windows Mobile before that) that didn't impress me in some way. Camera seems only ok for me, and lacking certain features. Camera app is harder for me to figure out than others too. They finally fixed one of the most glaring issues in not having the option for Tap Tap to trigger the flashlight (how did they even miss they in the first place). Also it's somewhat buggy, using picture-in-picture causes me problems, especially in Google Maps (you'd think that Google Maps would work fine on a Google made Android phone, but apparently not).

Question I've had enough with the Pixel 6 pro.

Pixel 6 pro, had it for like 3 months and this is getting outrages, fingerprint sometimes not working, phone buggy as hell, always over heating over the most basic of task, the battery life is mediocre compared to other phones of the same size and price, so many bugs like camera dot being turned upside down, things not loading and now?? None of the Chargers are charging the phone after the January update. Like not even the pixel 30W adapter and cable will charge it. Like what is this crap, $1200 CAD phone and it barely works and runs on an operating system that runs worse than window Vista. I thought Google had standards but clearly this phone is such a giant letdown, I could go on and on about all the problems this phone has and now the simplest of task can't even be accomplished by it, it can't even charge with a OEM cable and adapter and needs to be restarted 3 times a day when the system bugs out. I have never had such an awful experience with a phone and the pixel 6 pro just proves Google is incapable of making an actual flagship phone. I won't even start with my pixel buds 2 and how bad they are always disconnecting, every time one side earbud dies before the other even hits 90%. I've had enough of Google. It's been out for like 3-4 months and they still can't even fix this. Imagine if they focused on the phone with the same effort they do in the ads department.

Your ear buds have gone bad. I had the same problem with my Sony wf-1000xm4 and Sony acknowledged it was a problem caused by a software update. I got mine replaced under warranty after almost a year.

But windows 11 for me is the same. My pixel watch etc. I think technology as a whole just isn't a user friendly experience
I got a Samsung a34 5G. Same. It's like the manufacturers of devices conform to deliberately build tech to screw up.
But having said all that, android Z is about 4-5 years away, and with enough people complaining about stuff not working, I think things will need to evolve

how did you get fricked over so badly with the price you paid for it - 1200 cad for a pixel 6 pro in feb 2023? you got ripped off, i got mine for the equivalent of 940 cad in june 2022

The phone is good but not as quality of 'google'
It makes some headache from time to time

I came from a oneplus 7 pro /8 5G about 2 years ago and it was a tough transition admittedly. However, I have to say that I've come to find this thing to be both versatile and quite resilient. I put it through hell and it only costs 30 bucks to replace the screen on Google's $9 protection plan. And thanks to the work of the development community, I enjoy a lot of cool features and privacy protection. After hearing about Google's plan for dashcam (supposably, you'll be able to user pixel as a dash cam via the safety app) I will give serious consideration to Pixel 8 Pro.

I'd say Android Flash Tool, flashing al partitions and formatting device, that worked for me, from hating it to loving it, try it if you want as your last choice, if that does not fix it, nothing will

my battery life was so bad, even after doing that, but a custom kernel fixed that

Main problem with mine has been the mediocre modem. Constantly have bad signal and at least twice a day whilst not on WiFi I will lose all connectivity. Even though shows I have signal and on 4g/5g I have to toggle airplane mode to get it talking again. My first experience on a Google phone and possibly my last

Bliss 16.7, radioactive kernel, with pictured modules, and LSPosed modules. Best phone setup I've had in awhile. Then get ReVanced modded apps. Hmu if you need help making your P6P better.

I was a bit harsh in my statement about modern tech's shortcomings.
With AI manifesting itself daily into most applications I think things will change. I rooted my a34 and it is a little less powerful than the 6pro, with just 6gb of ram.
The pixel 6 pro isn't a bad phone, I was just having a bad day when I posted that.
