So I saw that upon release the 6 pro had a lot of bugs, bad battery life, etc but I'm curious months later how is the phone? I currently have the s21 ultra but I'm considering switching to this phone just because I'm a pixel fan and I know that camera is a beast.
I've not had any of the issues others had on this phone. Battery life is decent for me plenty of sot over a days worth. Just recently got the 12L beta and using it as a daily driver with no issues
Yep I too confirm that I don't have the experiences others have. I've had great experience with my 6 pro and love this phone.
The first phone I had was terrible, the 2nd one I smashed in a fit of rage. Now the third one I have has been AWESOME.
I really enjoy the reliability of it. Super quick phone for my needs.
My wife and I have loved ours all along, for closer to four months now (over 3 1/2 months). We haven't had any major issues at all, including the fingerprint readers.
First pixel and have never had a problem, seems the issues are way overblown like every new popular device, they'll all move to the next major release for free clickbait and money

The P6 Pro's display is likely to be inferior to the S21U's in color rendering index and white point.
It's a problem common to all variable refresh rate displays, they are much more problematic to calibrate. Samsung is at the top of the game for doing this.
Samsung gives you countless free themes, icon packs, even virtual buttons if you want plus the Good Lock customization apps. Customization with a Samsung shouldn't be an issue.
Until something clearly better comes along I would wait however...
If you're hell bent on a P6 Pro, get it.
Life is short, enjoy it. The phone is with you most of the time.
If you currently have the S21U then moving to the p6p isn't really that much of an upgrade.
The p6p camera is marginally better at best.
Like previously stated above and I confirm the screen on my S21U looks way better than the p6p.
The only reason I'd recommend the p6p is if you just like pure android.
This is just my take on it.
I do own both.
Despite my original P6P going bad (touch screen issues) after a month or so of owning it. With my replacement, I couldn't be happier. Battery life is great, performance is solid, and I have zero issues. The 12L Beta 3 feels like how this phone should have been at launch.
I love it, it's my first high refresh rate! Before I was using 60hz

Yeah I do know samsung has the best screens and sorry I wasn't looking for an upgrade just a change of pace really. My last phone was the s20 fe and then before that I had a oneplus phone which I really loved. I do love samsung and know their phones are fantastic but yeah I do love pure android. Thank you for your response.
Thank you everyone for your reply/input! My last pixel phone was the 2xl and I've been craving to have another pixel so I may give this a shot. Like blackhawk said life is short so might as well pick what I want and not worry too much about having the best or whatever.
Never had a problem with mine. I replaced my Xperia 1 lll with this and I don't regret it at all. Would have been nice of the screen was flat but all in all great phone. I installed the Whitestone dome tempered glass and it's perfect
My primary P6P issue has been connectivity. I can't say it is only the modem and software. With 5G on, it is a battery vampire. However, I think constant bouncing between cell towers where I live is a contributor.
I wish I could say I haven't had other issues with the monthly updates. November was fine, however the following introduced or exacerbated ill behavior.
Bluetooth worked flawlessly until February's update.
Anyway, good luck!
P6P is awesome. I bought out my OnePlus 9($517) traded it in for $600 towards my pixel 6 pro. Sold my S21 Ultra in the process. Battery on the S21 Ultra was complete @$$. Super happy with my phone as the battery lasts a full shift of work with close to 8hr SOT. Got my wife the S22 Ultra that arrives on Monday.
Get the phone that suits you and your needs. I like simplicity and I'm tired of flashing roms to get a Pixel UI so why not just buy a Pixel haha. That's just me

For now same bugs, just few of its:
1. Battery life is not good
2. Fast charge is not fast, because when battery temperature come to 100F charging current decreases to 0,9A
3. 5G/volte/vowifi work only in supported and few other country (volte/viwifi you can enable with root, 5g-no)
4. FoD work more good that on start, but not great.
5. No faceid
6. Signal level is less, than on Samsung in same situation.
7. AoD has no settings at all
8. For connecting 3.5 or headset you need DAC, other headset and type-c->3.5 would not work.
Absolutly no reasons to switch from Samsung S21U to Pixel 6/pro. I want to switch back to Samsung.
I just got mine a few days ago (256gb version from Germany as only 128gb version is available in France).
I'm a bit disappointed I must admit. I knew there was a chance of having some issues as I did a lot of research before buying, but there are a lot of people very happy so I took a chance.
I don't have any of the real bugs others do (wifi, Bluetooth disconnects, etc) so I am lucky in that respect, but the FP scanner, charging speed and battery life alone show that Google made a cheap phone, not a flagship.
Coming from a OnePlus 8, the pill is kinda hard to swallow.
I like the design and really hope the experience will improve, but I think the issues I have are hardware related so can't really be fixed (FP and old Samsung modem).
Android 12 will of course improve over time (I just reverted from 12L beta last night - wanted to see if FP and/or battery life improved with second Feb update - I can't draw any conclusions yet).
I still don't get how during 2 hours of airplane mode, the battery is showing mobile network at 36%.

The battery should improve over time
I'm having 2 main issues. My cellular signal is always dropping. I live in Winnipeg, MB, Canada. We do have 5g. My Pixel 3 xl has no trouble getting signal but this pixel 6 is terrible. I drop connection every 2 hours for about 5 minutes. As a result calls drop, and SMS don't send.
Lots of trouble with the fingerprint scanner. I get that it is slow (takes 3 seconds to unlock with my finger) but it fails 1/3 of the time and I have to put in the phone's code.
Despite these problems I am surprising satisfied with everything else. The device is fast. It gets batter battery life then my Pixel 3 XL.
Sadly because of the problems I am experiencing I still can't advise anyone get this device. Not until they fix these cellular issues. It's a phone and top priority should be reliable cellular connections.
I dont have any bugs, never had. Only the fingerprint used to be a bit slow and my battery life was not as good as some people post online.
Everything is much better on 12L. Fingerprint is faster and now unlocks on cheap plastic screen protector. Signal seems a little worse for me on 12L, even drops to 3g sometime at my moms house(never did before) but despite that the battery life for me is much better. I get about 6hr screen on time in like 48 hours of use. (Some people post they get around 10 to 11, I dont know how)

So I understand from reviews from when the One X and XL were first released that the XL had better battery life than the X. But since then the X has seen a bunch of updates, so how's the battery life now? Are the two comparable or does the XL still have the advantage?
I'm looking at getting one of the two, but still can't decide between them...
battery life would go to the XL, until nvidia updates the Tegra 3 kernel, it doesn't help that we're using an ancient kernel. Once they do that whenever that may be, we should have better battery life.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
The XL has better battery life for general use... Until you start using LTE data, at which point it drains much quicker than the X (although the XL definitely has the best battery life of any LTE phone right now)
The X's battery life has gotten considerably better since release. I wouldn't say it's excellent now (a term reserved for phones such as the RAZR Maxx and Galaxy Note), but I get a day or so with brightness on auto, sync on, wifi connected now and then, a few calls, a decent amount of gaming and surfing, a fair bit of Spotify streaming, some tethering to my tablet and some stored and Youtube videos.
I mean, in a day where ALL of this happens, I'd probably get home with 5%, but never in danger of not being contactable. It uses next to no power while on standby (in case you're worried you'll run out before you get home) and once it finally shuts down, it'll give you another 10 minutes or so if you start it back up (not sure if that's a feature or a bug, but it's useful in an emergency).
I guess it's all based on what you need.
Has Nvidia said anything about the update on tegra drivers?

I have tried the following roms: android revolution, chameleon (that pokemon one), slim ics, cyanogenmod9, miui.
None of them improved my battery life appreciably in the sense that at no point did I go, wow, my battery is better. The battery lasts ME 8 hours, maximum. I didn't do any scientific tests with the different ROMs. It seems to me that by FAR the dominant determinant of battery life is the screen. When I see the battery logs/graphs of people on this forum, they report that the X (the international version) can last 24 hours, etc. Really, all that is needed is the screen on time. Why? Because we already know that you can leave this phone on standby for days and days. This is something that nvidia really go right. But wow, that screen, it sucks the juice dry like nobody's business.
When I see logs/graphs that show that the screen is 33% of the battery's usage, I take that to mean that either the phone was not being used much, or was just being used to talk/listen to music, but it definitely could not have been on for very long, or it was on at the lowest possible setting. With my usage patterns, when I'm actually looking at the screen (surfing, writing emails, reading a book) my screen takes up 70% of the battery's juice. On autobrightness, my screen can be on for 3 hrs, 15 minutes. I do not believe I have a faulty battery, nor do I believe that I have a faulty phone. I believe that this is just the way that the One X truly performs. I'm going to pay attention to the iphone 4's screen on time, but before I go and run the test, my impression is that it is around the 5 hour range.
I have no issues with the one x's standby time. It basically doesnt use any power on standby.
The key for me is not that I wish for some magical advances in technology right now. My benchmark is how does this phone perform with regard to the latest and greatest out there? And my impression is that it is a step behind. I'm currently testing my iphone4, and will pay attention to the usage. But all I can tell you is that my usage patterns haven't changed over the last 2 years, while my phone has. My iphone 4 can last me throughout the day, but this one x, most definitely does not. I was completely blown away by the anandtech review that stated that the one x from AT&T, was absolutely the most battery efficient phone currently in production. I have the one x int'l version, and it is still no slouch and compares favorably to the 2 yr old iphone 4 acc to anandtech's batt benhmarks. So when I got my one x int'l version, I was astonishingly disappointed.
That said, I would not take anandtech's benchmarks literally. They're good for relative comparisons. They're also famous for showing how battery efficient the macs are, and in no way do I ever approach the battery runtimes they report.
To me the only remaining question is if getting the S4 processor inside my phone would improve battery life to iphone 4 levels. I believe that it may, even though I just said that screen time is the dominant factor. I do recall noticing that when I'm just reading an ebook, and the processor is idling, the battery drain isn't actually nearly as fast. So maybe the cpu will improve. My biggest dilemma is whether having updated, rewritten drivers for the tegra 3 really can do wonders. I am skeptical that a) this will ever be done in a timely fashion b) if drivers will have a big enough effect on a fundamentally older architecture and manufacturing process. As we know the tegra 3 uses a 40 nm process, while the S4 uses a 28 nm process.
Truth be told, in all honesty--my biggest mistake was ever buying the iphone 4. For all that that phone can not do, and my philosophical differences with their approach to products, I did not realize until now that the things that that phone does, it does incomparably well...and that phone has checked off all the right boxes for me: battery life, perceived speed, gorgeous screen, design, etc.
Are there two kernels? The ICS kernel and the tegra 3 kernel? When I put cyanogenmod9, I have the ICS kernel, right? We have no control over the tegra 3 kernel? Just not sure if ICS source code can affect the tegra3 kernel.
My one x easily out performs my gnex and gs2 in battery and I don't tippy toe with my phone either emails, widgets, browsing, downloading, auto brightness its a powerful phone don't see why I should run it conservative especially when it can handle the pressure easily if I want conservative ill buy a Nokia
I agree with lamenramen I hate people posting screen shots of their phone on standby times its effing pointless because they've left their phone on standby for three days and haven't touched it what's the point of showing those stats if your not using the damn phone its as useless as posting up a picture of tree

Hello Guys,
I'm going to USA in september, unfortunately I'll back to Brazil before the Pixel 3 launch.
Import from things in Brazil it's expensive, then I'll buy a cellphone in my travel, but I don't know if I buy a Pixel 2 XL or a Galaxy S9.
I'm would like to know if still worth it a Pixel 2XL.
Thanks.

Pixel 2XL all the way.
Here's the latest similar XDA thread with info here
That's a good reference galaxys pointed you to. I sold my P2XL and bought an S9+. I won't say it was a HUGE mistake but if we weren't a few months from the P3 I'd sell the Samsung & get another Pixel. I liked it a lot, looking forward to the next one.
Pixel all the way. Had before S8 plus, and this one is spaceship for battery, smoothness and camera wow!

My Mrs has the S8+ which is definitely a very nice device. Beautiful screen and hardware. However, when it comes to battery life compared to my P2XL, it's not even close. On average, she'll get about 4-5 hours of SOT a day, and be at about 20-30% of battery left in the tank after about 16 hours of up time, so she charges it up every night. My P2XL will average 8-12 hours of SOT over close to 48 hours of up time. Having said all that, we use our devices differently. I don't do any social media at all, she uses instafacegraham:silly: from time to time, and talks a fair amount to family. There are times as well where she gets random battery drain for no apparent reason, and the Sammy bloatware apps always seem to be doing something in the background. Granted, the 8+ isn't rooted like my P2XL, so she can't use TiBu or My Android Tools or magisk modules to turn things off. She also likes the fancy AOD clocks and themes that show up on the lock screen, which I think definitely sucks more juice, but they do look nice. So I reckon it all comes down to what you like and how you use your device, I will also say that with the more aggressive edge display of Sammy, that the cases that are available don't protect very well if you drop it on the screen. She's been lucky so far with most all of her drops being on carpet, whereas I've dropped mine a dozen or so times on concrete, but the Caseology vault series case I use has done a stellar job of keeping my device and screen in tact. So there is my opinion of the 2 devices. In the end, I prefer function over flash. So...the P2XL all the way :good:
I'd had both. I sold my p2xl for a s9+. Went back to the pixel 2xl. Here's what I can tell you...The sammy had a better screen, messages and dialer were million times better (they actually tell you who is texting you or calling you), internet browser is better, and theme engine (which I used the Android P beta one on it and loved it). The pixel...updates and better camera. Battery life was similiar between the two. The samsung had much better bluetooth ability in my truck (my pixel skips and **** in the truck). No need for a dongle for a headset. BUT...my unlocked Sammsy was on Feb update (which they JUST updated now). So, it's really a personal pick. I miss my sammy, but I like knowing I'm on the latest security patch too. And the unlock button is still miles better than the sammy.

Whattt 8 to 12 hours of SOT. What do you do to get that kind of battery life?
Also how do you think the P20 Pro compares to the Pixel 2 XL in battery life and usability etc?

I'm mostly just a browser and contributor on XDA. I don't use social media, or watch a lot of YouTube, and the phone gets to sleep quite a bit since I'm retired and it's not always moving on my person. As far as the P20 goes, I have no idea since I've never used it

Regardless how phone is used 12 hours of SOT is insane.
You must have rooted and modified it because I don't see how else this is possible.

Oh I'm definitely rooted! There's a magisk module I use to knock down some of the 4,674 background services that google play services uses(sarcasm:silly)and I use another app called My Android Tools to stop a few others. But honestly, it's mostly all about usage patterns, signal, wifi, brightness, and lack of movement that gives me those numbers. I'm the rarity, not the norm
If I wasn't on Verizon now, I would be with OnePlus still, or even considered moving to something like the Xiomi Mix 2S, which supports VZW, that was just released.
OnePlus Deb support and path they are taking is really nice. Loved my 5T.
My only real complaint with the Pixel 2 XL is the fat and thick edges and feel compared to Samsing and OnePlus, and a few other phones today. It feels dated right after release IMO compared to competitors and chunky in hand.
Otherwise, Pixel 2 still a great choice.

Pixel 6 battery life claims vary wildly — what's the truth?

Pixel 6 battery life reports range from great to terrible
Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro
The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are drawing universally rave reviews, but one feature that is proving somewhat contentious is battery life.
We encountered this issue during our testing of both phones, which did not hold up well to our Laptop Mag battery test, but performed excellently in real-world usage. So we decided to take a closer look at reviews from a dozen tech sites along with those from YouTubers to get a better sense of the truth of Pixel 6 battery life.
Pixel 6 battery life is great
Engadget
Engadget's Cherylnn Low said in her review that the "Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro last incredibly long." In the site's video rundown test, the Pixel 6 had one of the longest times the site has ever recorded at 20 hours and 30 minutes, while the Pixel 6 Pro put up a very respectable 17:13. As for her more anecdotal real-world experience, Low indicated that the "Pixel 6 Pro typically stuck around longer than a day and I never stopped to think about charging it."
The Verge
The Verge's Dan Seifert was uniform in his praise of the battery life on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, saying that "both are easily able to cruise through a full day of use" and that "most nights I went to bed with 35-40 percent battery remaining...." He also noted that this was with extensive camera use and the always-on display feature active, and that he feels some users should be able to "stretch this to two days without much effort."
Pixel 6 Pro
Gizmodo
In Sam Rutherford's review of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro for Gizmodo, he noted that both phones were impressive in their video rundown test and in real-world usage. For the latter, he said the "Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro routinely had 30% to 40% battery life in the tank at the end of the day...." In their video rundown test, the Pixel 6 had the second-longest result Gizmodo has ever seen at 18 hours and 56 minutes. Only the iPhone 13 Pro Max outlasted it at 19:30. The Pixel 6 Pro didn't fare quite as well in the video rundown, but at 16:45, it matched the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Mashable
Mashable's Joseph Volpe similarly lavished praise on the real-world battery life of both phones calling it, "all-day-and-then-some battery life...." Volpe wrote that after a mix of "texting, Twitter scrolling, Slacking, photo-taking, and Chrome browsing)" for the day that both phones would typically end at around 35%.
Android Central
Android Central was slightly split on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro battery with the reviewer for the Pixel 6 Pro, Nicholas Sutrich, considerably more impressed. He wasn't able to kill the battery in a day even pushing the Pixel 6 Pro with over an hour of camera use. He, too, believes users with lighter workloads should be able to get two days of usage. Ara Wagner, in her review of the Pixel 6, was more tempered with praise but still reported that she was left with 25-30% battery life after an average day with roughly 5.5 hours of screen on time.
Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro
Pixel 6 battery life is fine
CNET
CNET's reviews of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro both landed on the battery for the phones being good, but not able to push beyond a single day of usage. In the Pixel 6 review, Patrick Holland said the battery was closer to lasting three-quarters of a day than a full day on a particularly heavy day of photo and video shooting. Andrew Hoyle put the Pixel 6 Pro as above average, but behind standouts like the iPhone 13 Pro.
Android Police
Android Police reviewers of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro expressed hesitancy in inferring too much from just a week with the phone, but both deemed it to be "good." While changes to the battery life Settings menu in Android 12 have made it harder to track, Ryne Hager offered that he measured roughly 7 hours of screen-on time for the Pixel 6 Pro. Hager notes that low-light photography was a real killer for the Pixel 6 Pro, but concluded the phone's endurance was "pretty good."
Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro
TheUnlockr
David Cogen, a.k.a. TheUnlockr on YouTube, ruled that the battery life was "pretty good" in his testing. He dropped the Pixel 6 Pro to 2% battery remaining at 10:30 p.m. after starting the day at 9 a.m., but that was on a testing day that involved over an hour of camera usage and, as he notes, "not a normal day." On a less aggressive day of testing, he was able to coast through with about 20% remaining after starting the day slightly below 100%.
TechRadar
In TechRadar's reviews of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, both reviewers deemed the battery life to be adequate, but not outstanding. Each one got through a full day on a single charge, but not beyond. They considered it to be a weakness for the phone overall, but not to the degree that it should sway a purchasing decision.
9to5Google
Ben Schoon of 9to5Google settled on the Pixel 6 Pro battery life being solid for all-day performance but said it won't push much past that point. In testing, which was made more difficult by Android 12's new battery usage tracking, the phone only needed to top up on one day when it reached 20% by 8pm. Otherwise, he would typically end the day with just under 15% and also clarifies that this is during heavy use for his review.
Pixel 6
Pixel 6 battery life is bad
MKBHD
Marques Brownlee, a.k.a MKBHD, has been the harshest critic of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro battery life. He reported seeing 3.5 to 4.5 hours of screen on time with the Pixel 6 Pro and less than that with the Pixel 6. This rated an "average at best" from Brownlee and he concluded this would be a phone that would be dead at the end of the day pretty often for him. He's more accepting of it on the Pixel 6, but concludes that "The battery situation for me has been overall kind of a bummer on the flagship."
Mr. Mobile
Michael Fisher, a.k.a MrMobile, mirrored MKBHD's thoughts, saying that "the only consistent low point...is battery life." He clarifies that it is a full-day phone, but that it is running low a lot earlier in the day than he would like. He also reiterates the same complaint of some of the others that Android 12's new power consumption makes it much harder to diagnose the culprit for the battery drain.
Nice. Marques telling us the truth!

For the high SOT refuters, could you also post app usage statistics so they can compare why their SOT is so less when they get nothing but abysmal SOT on 5G with signal strength of 1 bar, 120 Hz at full brightness playing Genshin Impact on extreme graphics for only three hours straight?

So what's decent for you? What did you vote on in the poll?
I'm not voting on this* as I know for sure that different usage gives different hours on a day-to-day basis. That said, I'm somewhere in the two best/longest categories and probably more to the best-est (technical term).
*I must remind everyone that mixing qualitative (the experience of) and quantitative (the number of) in the same options is questionable (<50%)

I chose the 2nd best option. I came from the S21 Ultra. I'd say they both were similar for me when it comes to battery life.

Yes someone's "okay" is another person's "great" and vice versa but I just went by the hours.

Absolutely agree with MKBHD. People may say he is biased towards Apple but he is right this time. I am big Google Pixel series fan. I dont like iOS at all. I am using PIxel 6 Pro and I can tell you the sot i get is 4 to 4.5 hours with smooth display turned on. Mind you I am in a non-5G region and I dont play games at all. Imagine playing games on it as well and using 5G? The sot will surely come down crashing to below 4 hours for sure which is really bad for 5000 mAh battery phone. I use my phone with smooth display turned off and now I get 5.5 hours sot max. The battery life can be decent if you turn off 5G and Smooth display, but whats the point then if you have to compromise?
Just checked the usage and sum up my day:
16 hours total time since cable off.
3.5 hours screen on time (normal-light use, Firefox/FB/Twitter/Calls/SMS etc with some short videos)
45% battery is used. (drop from 85% to 41%)
The idle drop is ~ 2% per hour with ambient display always on, stock ROM, and "hey google" turn off.
Without gaming and heavy videos, it could easily go 8 hours screen-on-time for a whole day.
I've just switched to the s21ultra because I couldn't do differenty....
In Italy now there are some excellent offers from Samsung:
- our beloved note10+ has a whopping 550€ payback!
- you'll also receive a free spen cover + spen

bye bye note

Oh my... NO.
Say goodbye to your 1tb data drive, native spen, near perfect color rendering and Android 10... Android 11 is no gift.
Meh 2 months ago I delibrately bought a new N10+ 4G Snapdragon because of Samsung's and Android's 2021 fails.
Lol, a new N10+ was worth $800 to me...
my two N10+'s aren't for sale, swap or trade
New, factory sealed N10+'s/Android 10 are still available.

i'm a note lover too, the note10+ was my third note but it's now more than 2 years old.
of course it works well and always will but it's getting old and its value is now very low (at least here in Italy)
it's also out of production and impossible to find (even the note20 is out of stock and won't available any time soon)
even if you are happy with your note, one day or another you'll have to change it, it happened to me when i sold my note3 but if i didn't i wouldn't have never had my note10 some years later!

The most recent N10+ was manufactured in December 2020, likely one of the last production runs.
My oldest one had it's battery replaced in 4.2021, it lasted less then 1.5 years. That's the only repair that's been needed. From now on I will likely replace the battery yearly to avoid a potentially phone damaging battery failure.
If you don't drop it or update it, keep display brightness at 50% or lower, it will easily run 2+ years with no issues. The current condition of the oldest one and the dismal 2021 offerings compelled me to buy a second 10+ to serve as a backup like for when doing battery replacements.
Updates break phones, malware breaks them only if you load it. The oldest 10+ is running on Pie and hasn't been updated in 2 years. Security is simply not an issue in real world use in spite of known vulnerabilities; I take some precautions due to this with settings. Current OS load is over 1.5 years old, fast and stable with minimum maintenance. That's another reason why I like this platform.
If your newer phone fulfills it's mission you do get some advantages. I wouldn't update to Android 12 until it's been out for a length of time to see how well it's doing.
The hardware gains and usability are offset somewhat by Android 11's pathetic scooped storage implementation, the issues with variable rate displays and 5G implementation. All are still problematic not just on Samsung's but all newest generation models.
Worse there's been higher numbers of display failures this year it seems.
Given how long it took me to optimize the N10+ and get it to it's current level of functionality is another reason I'm not willing to adapt the latest new technologies. Set up for the second N10+ was nearly identical to the first one. Even my package disabler list was able to be uploaded with only a few modifications. While the higher refresh rate be nice, I'm not willing to trade color rendering or low light level color rendering for it.
The 20U's faster response spen be nice but I have to suck up the cam hump, 5G and variable refresh issues to get it. On all other new flagship Samsung's I lose the indispensable SD card support. Issues with Android 11 would likely damage SD card functionality as well.
So rather than risk lose of functionality/usability and waste my time... the N10+ remains my weapon of choice.
It's a fast, dependable, stable work platform.
Went the other way around for me, from a S21 Ultra to a Note 10+ because the Ultra developed a fault which I couldn't get fixed due to rooting it.
Must say for the majority of things I see little to no difference, especially given there is somewhere to put the pen. Only things I really miss are the 120hz display, a slightly better battery life and the camera, which is far better than the Note's for reasons I don't need to go into. But whilst I realise the S21 Ultra is far faster, for day to day use I don't notice the difference. Certainly not to the point which makes the S21 Ultra worth the additional money you'd need to fork out.
Must say I'm liking the looks of the S22 Ultra though. But I swore I'd never get another Samsung after what happened with my S21 Ultra and them refusing a paid repair. I only got this Note because a friend was selling it cheap.

S22U turned out to be a turd for me. Had two, first one screen glitched and second one lower half of screen had that usual OLED green tint which I despise. Both devices ran hotter and battery life was meh, unless using 60Hz. I noticed the trend with poor efficiency and heat from the N20U thru to S22U.The later being the worst.
Guess what? I ordered a Note 10+ from Samsung USA . It'll be nice having the SD card back and also the S-Pen located on the correct side.

Yay and ouch. What gets it done best is all that counts...
Optimized the N975U is a cool running flagship that's only a fraction of a second slower than the S22U, and very noticeably faster as the ram fills up. The Beast is a running machine that's drop dead gorgeous... still. wtf Samsung?
This is typical battery usage on my degraded battery nearing replacement time. Estimated capacity is 3500-3800 mAh. It's running cool and is still snappy fast in the optimized power setting mode. No battery optimization or global power management in use.

Those figures look like what the S22U achievied for me, at 60Hz. With 120Hz enabled shave off another 15-20% SOT.
Do happen to have screen shots of Accubattery Pro showing the battery status health of the Note 10+ during its first few cycles of its life? I don't recall Pie , but I remember it should be around 89% on Android 10 onwards. It went pear shaped reporting battery health wise for Samsung devices from Android 9 or 10 onwards using these apps.
Strange, I am actually looking forward in receiving old tech soon. I had skipped the Note 5 and Note 10 series completely at the time. T Mobile at the time was doing a special for new customers for the S10 series so myself and the worst half bought the S10+ during that incarnation era.

The S22U should be better percentage wise, it's got 5000 mAh battery! It's relative to total battery capacity.
The S22U also has more efficient ram and none of that pesky expandable storage
Lol, I toss old screen shots a lot.

Samsung has repeatedly dropped the ball on its newer flagships. The N10+'s form factor, functionality and usability is suberb. I wouldn't even trade the N10+ for any of them let alone pay for them.
I'm holding in my hand a 1.5tb dual drive Beast that's snappy fast, very stable, and runs like a gorgeous she bat out of hell.
I am currently still using an LG G7. The only reason I'm considering a new phone is because my new situation requires me to use my phone a lot more. I was working from home the past two years and didn't think much about my battery life but now that I'm not, I probably drain to 50% before noon.
My dilemma is with the supposed P6 battery life issues I've been reading about on Reddit. Is this the exception or the rule? It's hard to gauge because I feel like most people that would post about battery life on Reddit would be more likely complaining than praising. So should I wait for the P7? Also, if I did the exact same activities on the P6P would I end up with less battery life at the end of the day compared to the P6? Thank you!
Welcome to XDA
My thoughts...
Replace the LG battery and be happy.
Lol, if it's got a 5000 mAh battery it's because it sucks juice like a 2nd st hooker.
Variable refresh rate displays are something of a menace, still. Android 12 is a menace
For what it's worth, I don't have any problems with the battery life on my Pixel 6 Pro. I know there have been many others who do, though, as you said.
I always treat my batteries gently, though. I only allow the battery to get down to 25%, I only charge it to 75%, I never, ever quick charge it, and I never charge it overnight.

Wait.
Like everything, battery life will depend on your usage.
I unplugged my P6P this morning at 5:15. It is now 11:45 and battery is at 86%. Most of that battery drop was while I was driving to work, car gets data by tethering through phone, and that draws a fairly continuous flow of navigation data, which while not a large amount of data, keeps the phone awake and drains the battery down.
I also run GrapheneOS, completely free of gooble crap, so that will obviously benefit the battery life substantially.
Unless you can get a real great deal on the 6, I'd wait on the 7. Just keep the old phone plugged in more and you should be able to drag it out long enough.

At least get a new battery, regardless you'll have a backup phone. That's a good thing.
You lose nothing by waiting if you can. Then pick the best phone by usability, functionality, and reliability. Does it fullfill it's mission, is it fun to use?
That's why I'm still running 2 N10+'s which I still highly recommend if running on 9 or 10. I haven't seen anything in over 2 years that would do what or how I wanted... I use whatever comes in handy.
I had the LG G7, gave it to my dad who still uses it now. I've owned/used a Pixel 4a, 4a5g and now the Pixel 6 pro. The 6 pro is the best phone I've used out of all of them. I have no battery issues on my 6pro, and it is much faster/nicer experience over the G7. I wanted a bigger screen and an updated/better software experience. The LG G7 on verizon is not getting any updates past Android 9 (not 100% sure?) So I went with an unlocked 6Pro.
Waiting is always going to be your best bet, but it also depends on what your biggest gripes are with the G7 besides the aging battery. If you can get a good deal on the 6/6 Pro or even a Galaxy 22 ultra they both have excellent software update guarantees and great battery. I predict however the difference between the 6pro and 7pro will not be that big and you won't miss out on much other than you having the feeling of knowing you have the latest phone. Look on Swappa site to find great deals now or close to when the 7pro goes on sale. Lots of people there that take good care of their devices looking to sell.
As someone that loves my Pixel 6 Pro, if you can wait then do it.
My biggest gripes with the phone are the modem, 1st gen tensor, and inconsistent fingerprint reader. I live on the cusp of 5G and it wreaks havoc on my battery. I have to turn off 5G when I'm home which is a pain in the butt. The 1st gen tensor also has a tendency to heat up when it's warm out. I've had the phone get super warm and thermal throttle a couple of times now in my first summer with it. My hopes are that the second gen is a little more resilient. Lastly, the fingerprint reader has been hit or miss depending on various screen protectors. Some films worked, some didn't. My first Whitestone Dome was more hit than miss, my second has been flawless but slooow.
All that said, I still love this phone. If you don't want to wait, or can't, then go for it. It has its' quirks, but it's still probably my favorite phone in a while. I'll likely trade up for a P7 Pro when it comes out.
wait until it is with good moderm and good heat managment
I just traded my OnePlus 9 Pro for a Pixel 6 Pro and I'm extremely satisfied.
Despite the bad rep I don't have any battery, fingerprint or heat issues. 9 Pro was an oven compared to the Pixel...
I had maximum 2h30m-3h SOT on 9 Pro but on the Pixel I can reach 5h-6h SOT with no issues and I'm a heavy user.

That's 833-1000 mAh!
If it was getting 350 mAh it get 14 hours SOT.
The heat falls in line to the power consumed.

These new phones should slaughter my N10+ and mind you this is with a battery nearing replacement so it's nowhere near 4300 mAh now.

Ouch, that can happen. Just replace it when it gets to 80% of its original capacity, the end of it's useful service life to avoid a battery failure. That can damage to display or worse.
I expect a 1 year service life on a heavily used device especially if is used in high temperatures or is constantly under a high current drain. No big deal, just routine maintenance.
Many of the lastest Androids are hot running messes, not well balanced at all. The manufacturer shoving in a huge battery in masks the poor design but it's not a solution

Maybe consider the Pixel 6A releasing this month?

For me this would even make less sense, because you get the same Tensor and the same crappy modem while you miss out on the main advantage of the P6P - the top camera.
The Google P6P is my first smartphone that can comfortably handle a full day of intensive photography on a day trip, along with looking at the map and recording the route, on a single charge, and still has some power left over.
