I was wondering if there are any go to screen proctectors? Any to avoid, like do any cause issues with the touch screen?

I'd avoid the hard plastic static-type. They're difficult to put on without dust. I've been using the ones from clearprotector (.com). 50% off and free ship with the code iwantultra (have it memorized cause I've gotten several). The corners and edges are kind of a ***** to get on, but they work well and come with a lifetime warranty (or so they say...). This is a wet-application so don't use them unless you're willing to take the time to watch the youtube videos to learn how to install, and then takes about 20 minutes to install.
I get mine from www.bestskinsever.com. I've had no problems with them. The screen protector is easy to apply and very durable.
I have Ghost Armor on mine and like it, it is a bit smoother than Zagg or Bestskinsever.
Be warned if you want the full body protection, adding this to the back of my tab caused me to have the newton ring problem. I never had the problem with just the screen protector on, I should I have just stuck with the screen and not the entire thing but I really wanted the matte back on my tab.
Thanks fellas. I have and used to do/use the wet application ones for a while. Then I got tired of them and just went with the cling ones. I think I'll get the wet app and it should last a longgg time. Especially since Im not going to be using the tab every day.
I went with Clarivue on the recommendation of a friend.
It's decent enough, no tackiness or anything like that but it's not the best fitting, could've been a couple of mm wider and taller.
Other than that, whilst I've had a long-standing dislike for them, recently I've found Zagg's InvisibleShield protectors to be pretty decent - they seem to be very well fitted and the tacky feel to them that I remember doesn't seem as noticeable.
Kinda wish I'd gone with them for my Tab
Which would you guys say offers the smoothest screen experiences of all? I don't care about longevity as I only use my tab about once every 2 weeks

I was never a fan of the "wet" applications, to me it just seemed like too much work and I was never comfortable spraying any type of liquid all over my devices, regardless of how harmless they might be.
But anyway, this is a clear, non-matte protector that is the "static cling" kind of application. Once it goes on properly, you cannot see that is even there. The touch feeling is the same as if you had no protector on. I really feel that those matte ones, while they do reduce sun-glare, a lot of them provide a "tacky" feeling that maybe is fine for a smaller screen such as a phone, but can become very annoying for a larger screen if you do a lot of swiping across the larger surface area of a tablet. But that is a personal thing....I usually don't use my tablet outside in the bright sun anyway, so the matte types are useless for me.
I've had it on since the end of July and it's held up very well. You do have to wipe the smudges off the screen occasionally, but you'd have to do that anyway even with no protector. I'm extremely satisfied with these.
So I've got an Invisible Shield en route for my Tab, will post back when it arrives.

I just bought the glare-reduction screen protector from BodyGuardz. Has anyone else had any experience with them? I wanted something that would offer a decent amount of protection for the screen (fingerprint and physical pressure), but also not reduce the touch sensitivity at all. (I type with the tip of my nose since I can't use my fingers, and trying to press too hard hurts )
Not sure where you can get it, but here in Singapore there's a brand called DataFlex and their screen protectors seem really good.
I bought SGP steinheil shield ultra optics. I liked it.

So this newton ring issue is a major problem. What if I just protect the back and leave the screen open? I have the new logitech keyboard case on the way and the front is protected in the case, but the back is exposed. I planned on protecting the back only. But I wont do anything if it'll case the newton rings.

Yeah. Same here. Just want a more "grippy" back. How does one produce Newton Rings from the back of the device. Methunked it was a display issue resulting from the interaction of the protector and display glass...kinda by definition...
Hopefully we'll find out soon. I just want to protect the back.

I blame the install of the rear skin because I had the screen skin installed first and then three weeks later I had the rear done. He turned the tab face down and installed the skin. When he turned it over, bam, Netwon Rings...
I never had them before the front screen protector, during the front screen protector install or after the front protector was on the Tab.
Will it happen to you? I have no idea but from what I have read about the problem it is caused because of the Tab moving/flexing which can be caused by excessive heat and certain handling of the Tab.

I bought an anti-glare protector from Cellularbuy on eBay and managed to get it on in one go with no dust at all. The protector fits perfectly and the camera and light sensor holes line up spot on. The anti-glare makes the screen look a little grainy, but I hear that even the Steinhell ones that are many times more expensive have the same problem.
This has been gone over millions of times on each forum here, but here's how I did it:
-Wipe the screen down with a soft cloth and glasses cleaner or isopropyl to get any grease off
-Run the shower in a small bathroom on hot until the room is unbearably steamy
-Put on a hat to keep your hair and head funk from falling on the screen
-Line the protector up on the screen before removing the film and tape it on one side with a few pieces of Scotch tape
-Also make a "handle" out of tape to put on the top of the protector opposite the taped-down end. This will help with alignment
-Go into the bathroom and clean the screen with a good microfiber cloth. Also clean the front and back protective sheets on the film so there's no dust to come off when you start peeling them. The steam should be enough to wet it. Take one final look
-Peel the protector back and lay it down pulling the taped edge taut to keep it lined up
-Smooth any bubbles out with a credit card BEFORE peeling the top sheet off
IF you do have any dust, use a piece of tape on a corner to lift up the protector and another piece of tape to pick up the dust. If the room is steamy enough and you did a good job of wiping the screen this shouldn't happen.
I'm just curious if anyone has removed it and it is better with no issues. I didn't get the extra one in the box and the one on there already has a hairline scratch that is annoying me, I've never had a screen protector on any smartphone before....
i have removed it and no the sony logo doesnt peel off like on the z, i have applied IQ screen protector and it is way better int terms of scratches and fingerprint smudges.

Thanks, I'll check into that screen protector. I was curious too if anyone has left it off (without another one) and had any issues - I've read some people saying it has no oleophobic coating so gets a lot of fingerprints. And so I read about a product called Fusso Smartphone http://www.amazon.com/Anti-fingerprint-Oleophobic-SmartPhone-TM-necessary/dp/B008HVBU9O and am thinking maybe this can be used? Or is it good by itself after removing screen protector
I would only suggest that u use a screen protector made specifically for your phone brand and model type.
Should you get a protector ? only you can decide what kind of person you are and how to treat things you purchase.
but in my instance
I took my OEM screen protector off a day earlier than when the new one was to arrive. that was a long day, constantly had to remind my self to be careful of where I put my phone. I am quite pleased with IQ s screen protector

The screen film that comes stock on the Xperia ZL (as well as the Z) is not a screen protector...it is a film (protector) to help keep the glass from shattering. I have heard and seen the video where the kid decides to remove this level of protection. Why? Because he is crazy. I purchased the Skinomi Tech Skin screen protector (wet application) and installed it right over the stock film and it works beautifully. No degradation of the HD screen quality nor sensitivity of touch. Now, I have both a screen protector on top of the film to protect the screen from shattering as originally shipped from Sony.
I am not sure of the tempered nature of the Sony screens. Definitely not Gorilla Glass 1 or 2 but, I have heard it is from an Asian company that makes similar screens to Gorilla Glass (I thing it is called Dragontrail). I guess you could argue if the screen on the ZL was of the Gorilla Glass quality or better, the point would be mute, and no screen or shatter film protection would be necessary.
Good quality screen protector is a small investment to protect such a beautiful phone.

Sorry, but you are incorrect. It is a screen protector. In Japan, it is really common practice to sell phones with factory/service installed screen protector, because it saves person from trouble of trying to apply protector without dust getting under it, also adhesive could be used for more robust installation. So when somebody scratches theirs, they just pop in the service to get protector replaced instead of replacing whole screen - it saves company & user lot of costs.
This film protects glass from shattering to extent, but no more than any screen protector does. Its pointless to install second protector on top of it, this will only reduce backlight brightness & sensitivity (even if slightly).
Whatever it is, it sucks. I've never had a screen protector before, the glass feels way better to me, and probably looks a little better. The thing that comes on here scratches so easy - all I ever do it set it down screen up or put it in my pocket with nothing else in that pocket. Not to mention the lint it attracts..
I ordered the Fusso smartphone stuff for applying an oleophobic coating, seems to have gotten mostly good reviews, when I get it i'm removing this screen protector. I'll post results when i'm done..
So I removed the screen protector, wasn't hard at all just had to use a pin to get it started. To me, the glass feels way better and looks better. I applied the Fusso smartphone for adding an oleophobic coating last night. So far so good, after being on the phone a little bit this morning I saw some fingerprints and just used my shirt to wipe them off and they came right off - I guess the oleophobic coating is working, although it didn't seem bad even before I put it on the glass. Sony should really abandon the practice of putting a screen protector on new phones ( i don't think anyone else does), maybe include it, but this feels way better to me without it.

A question: Is the screen really scratch resistant? Searched for some videos and didn't find any screen scratch test, etc. I know you're not going to scratch your screen just to test it, but, do you leave it with keys, coins...? Would be glad to know if gets scratched easily or not. And when you take off the screen protector, is there any hard to remove glue on the screen?

What do you mean by "really scratch resistant"? Do you mean scratch-proof? Because its not, and there is no such thing as scratch-proof material. If you find something harder than glass, you can scratch it. Ordinary sand is the best example.
If you carry phone in pocket with keys (or in jeans pocket with studs which could contact screen when you move it from/to pocket), I recommend using screen protector.
To remove tackiness which could be left from original one, just use some alcohol to clean it.

1. Is there any possibility that this type screen protector may scratch my device screen? As it is made of glass material too.
2. Is it possible to tear it off in the future, without leaving any mark and scratches on my device screen? As in the future, I might feel like I may not want to have a screen protector on my screen. Or, I would like to change a new screen protector.
3. Also, it seems that this screen protector doesn't have a cut-off hole for front camera and other sensors. Will it affect the quality of front camera, and other sensors?

1. The back is adhesive... The most its going to do is leave some sort of residue like duct on glass as an extreme example.
2. Yes it can come off. This is a screen protector... Not a screen damager. I think you are misunderstanding the point of it.
3. No, front camera quality is not reduced.
I had the exact same one and it literally let me down like massively. Started getting random air bubbles in it, which were impossible to get rid of without taking the damn thing off. Been running naked since then.
I have this screen protector and I haven't had any problems at all. It has micro scratches on the screen protector but my screen should be just fine.

I've seen many people with the same problem as yours, that is why I haven't got a screen protector.
I have some under watch in eBay, but I'm waiting on feedback before purchasing
I bought those "liquid/nano Screenprotectors" coz they fit every screen.
I dont know if they are good but my screen is still like new.
Ultimate Shield are now doing glass protectors for a range of Honor and Huawei devices, including the P20 Lite. They are priced to be a bit more premium, but I have used them in the past and been quite happy with them. This was before the trend of curving the edges of phone screens though. These are full sized protectors with a coloured border, but the glue is full coverage rather than just at the edges. I have just fitted one to my son's new P20 Lite. As it has just been fitted I am unable to comment on durability yet. However the fit seems pretty good. As mentioned, it covers the front of the device fully from edge to edge both horizontally and vertically. The hole for the speaker and camera lines up perfectly, but it does look like the black borders encroach a little onto the actual display area at the sides. I don't think this would be enough to impede usage of the phone on a daily basis. It is just noticeable as it disrupts the flow of the rounded corners. The edges are nicely rounded and are not a harsh edge, unlike the cheap protector that I currently have on my Honor View 10 (I have bought an Ultimate Shield for this too, just haven't fitted it yet). I did manage to get one tiny bit of dust under the protector which has caused a small bubble, but this is under the display in the chin area so no real issue and not a fault with the screen protector. There was another bubble at the top left of the display, but keeping pressure on this meant it eventually disappeared. At the edge in the same area I noticed a small sized air pocked just creeping out along the black border, almost as if it was a tiny area with the infamous halo. This isn't noticeable with the screen on and I hope it will go over time. Overall I am quite happy with how it fits and looks. The only real negative is that the supposed oleophobic coating doesn't seem to be doing a great job. But, tbh, I don't think I have ever found a screen protector where it has worked as I expected. Are my expectations just not realistic? Or do we have particularly oily finger tips? Nothing a frequent wipe on a t-shirt won't sort out though.
Would certainly recommend if you are fed up of these screen protectors that are much too small and give you a halo round the edges.

They also do full body coverage wet apply protectors (invisible shield style) if you like that kind of thing.
I got one when i bought the phone and it did not fit good at the edges, but i found a youtube clip called "Removing Halo Effect from Tempered Glass (Olive Oil)" and it worked for me. its been 3 months since then and all is good.
There's been a lot of discussion about the screen protector on this phone. Removing it, not removing it, replacing it, etc. I bought my ZF2 second hand, and the previous owner had already removed the factory screen protector, so part of that decision had been made for me. He had replaced it with a matte screen protector, inside and out.
Honestly, I TRIED to get used to it. I WANTED to like it. It felt nice and there were no fingerprints. But if you watched a movie, it looked like an 80s VHS bootleg copy.
So I removed the screen protector and could instantly tell why people love this phone naked. The screen is genuinely beautiful. But I just can't take a chance at scratching it, so I replaced both screen protectors with the Gobukee screen protector.

Installation is a dry installation, and is very similar to the Ringke Easy Dual screen protectors, but instead of the whole thing being sticky, there's only a strip that sticky to align it. I actually prefer the Ringke method, as it removes dust on the whole screen as you align it, but fortunately I didn't have any dust issues with these when installing.
Like all dry install TPU screen protectors, I had some bubbles after installation, but after 24 hours they were all gone, and I was left with a perfectly clear and smooth surface. Maybe not as smooth as glass, but it's very, very close. I'm not sure if I would be able to tell the difference between this and bare glass.
It's still a bit of a fingerprint magnet, but comparing it to the demo unit at Best Buy, which still has the factory screen protector, this one is MUCH better at repelling fingerprints. And it seems easier to clean as well. And it definitely feels much better.
As a bonus to an interior and exterior screen protector, it includes a skin for the back glass and the hinge. The hinge skin is just almost invisible once installed and doesn't affect the folding action at all. I haven't used the rear skin, as the previous owner installed a matte rear skin, which I actually prefer on the back glass.
If you're on the fence about removing your screen protector, because the factory one is terrible, but you still want protection, I can highly recommend the Gobukee screen protector.

With you on this one...just installed the front and inside and they are way better than the factory installed ones and are not at all rubbery like the factory. I loved not having the screen protector on but these are as close to not having in on there as possible.

I agree. I really like it. I've been using these TPU protectors for a while on my other devices. I've used them on the S10+, Note 10+, Note 20 Ultra, and now this device. I usually use the Ringke Easy Dual protector, but it's not available on the fold yet. But I'm convinced they're all mostly the same, just different brand and packaging.
I bought this screen protector for my fold but unfortunately my experience of it was poor. Its a shame as the install went perfectly because unlike two other brands I tried, the Gobukee is actually designed specially with the Fold in mind. What I mean by that is the two halves you remove before the protector sticks to the screen (as in tab 2 and 3) run parallel to the fold crease. This means you can push the squeegee and therefore the protector into the crease.
Honestly, the install was great and I was thrilled to finally find a protector for this device that wasn't poor. Unfortunately my hype was short lived as after having the device folded for 5 minutes, the protector developed a clear band of purple and green tinting where the crease is. You'll have to excuse the poor picture quality as I only had my work iPhone 7 to hand.

Not at all. I literary can't tell the protector is there.
Plus, mine didn't split parallel the fold, it actually split perpendicular to it. Also mine has a hole punchout for the camera. Either you're using a different brand, or a different iteration of it.
On mine, you removed the back sheet, which exposed a slightly sticky strip on the screen protector that ran left to right and was located in the upper half of the protector, if I recall correctly.
Once it was aligned, you removed a second bottom layer, exposing the real screen protector adhesive. This was done in two halves as you said, but the splet ran side to side, not up and down like the screen fold.

Thanks for your detailed response and I'm glad to hear you achieved a good install, as you say, it appears that this brand has different variations. Here's the link to the one I bought - you'll see from the pictures in the listing that there's an adhesive column that sticks into and parallel to the crease.
I did indeed remove the top layer, as you say, after removing said top layer it was hard to even see there was a protector installed.
I've even looked on Amazon UK for other listings for the Gobukee protector and came across one that at first, looked similar to the listing you linked to in regards to it having images of the packing which the listing I originally bought from didn't. However, that listing then also shows the protectors that look to install the same way as the original one I bought (adhesive strip running parallel to the fold). There was also a review that said a rainbow effect appeared but clicking on that to read more of the review took me to a completely different and positive review.

Edit - okay, so I've ordered the second one I linked to because the listing seems different enough to hope I get one line yours. As you pointed out, my original one did not have a cut out for the camera and this is reflected in the two listings - one shows no cut out, the other does. Perhaps they revised the product after feedback about the fold issue and also added a cut out? I'll update the thread with how I get on.

Edit - okay, so I've ordered the second one I linked to because the listing seems different enough to hope I get one line yours. As you pointed out, my original one did not have a cut out for the camera and this is reflected in the two listings - one shows no cut out, the other does. Perhaps they revised the product after feedback about the fold issue and also added a cut out? I'll update the thread with how I get on.

Yeah, the listing for the one I bought shows the hole cut out. But when I look at the UK listing it doesn't. That's weird. Doesn't make sense to make different variants for the UK.
Now, I do have faint lines from the squeegee. But you have look at you screen at an extreme angle, and get a light to reflect right on them to see them. I don't know if I could even photograph them.
Let me. Know how the second order goes. I'm genuinely curious.
Okay so the screen protector came today and wow, I'm extremely impressed and very happy that I now have a screen protector on this device.
This Gobukee protector was very much different than the first one I bought from Amazon UK (so there's two different variations on the same Amazon UK store), in the following ways:
The protector comes with a hole punch for the camera for the inner, large display
The install method is different, essentially this display protector anchors at the top near the selfie camera
The install went really well, initially I was left with a fair few bubbles around the crease but these disappeared after 30 mins of trying to work them out with the squeegee and leaving it for an hour open.
You'll see from my pictures that you can't tell there's a protector on at all and it feels much better than the stock protector that comes in the device. Also, unlike the original Gobukee protector, no rainbow discolouration where the device folds.
I wouldn't dare not use a protector on either display on this device. Even with Gorilla glass Victus on the front and not putting this device in any pocket with items that could scratch the display, the front display has picked up some very faint hairline scratches. Not a big deal as you really need to look for them at the right lighting angle to see them but if the front display can scratch then the inside display definitely can. Plus dust and debris can easily get to the inside screen due to the large gap between the two halves near the hinge.
So Mr. Orange 465, thanks for bringing this protector to my attention and leading me to discover there were different versions doing the rounds.

Awesome!! I'm glad you found one that works!!
I just installed the Ozero about five days ago. I noticed yesterday that it was starting to peel up on the edges right at the crease. Planned to change it out this weekend. Then today I opened the phone and the Orzero completely let go at the crease. From top to bottom it came loose from the screen. I'll try to post a pic tonight of it when I'm home and have access to my other phone.
I'll try the other Ozero screen protector I have and hope this was a fluke, since I love how smooth these feel, but if the next one lets go like this one, I'll go back to Gobukee. I never had an issue with them.
Got so tired of the crappy internal screen protector and finally (hesitantly) removed it and replaced it with the healing shield matte screen protector from Amazon. The install went flawlessly outside of a few bubbles on the edges which hopefully go away in the next couple days. It's such a night and day difference. Before I avoided using the large screen cause I hated the feeling of it and OH MAN all those fingerprints.....now, although the screen isn't as sharp, it still looks great to me and is silky smooth AND no fingerprints anywhere. I know there have been a lot of complaints about it lifting after a couple days or weeks so I'll be cautious, but for now I love it.

I just tried put this screen protector. It does bubble slightly from the top of the crease when open.....sometimes. sometimes I'll open it and it's fine. However this is much better than many of the other clear protectors I've tried. Seems slicker and more scratch resistant than the others as well to me. I'm actually going protector free for a little while and see how I like it. I think I've tried 8 or 9 screen protectors now. I'm more partial to the matte ones for fingerprint reasons.

No bubbles or peeling at all. I actually removed it to try the Ozero brand screen protector, but that one actually would shrink on really cold days, and would come completely loose at the fold when opening.
So I switched back to Gobukee and haven't had any issues at all. Best screen protector out there, in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply... I'm guessing the rear screen protector, if it has one, doesn't actually fit the whole of the rear? Thanks .. trying to find k e that covers all the rear of the phone (other than the camera)..
Can anyone provide some new links for the screen protectors, this ones are not available. I need to replace my interior screen but the ones i see are not so good

Hi, please could you provide a link to the version that works for you in the UK.
I'm looking to add a screen protector to the inside screen and haven't found a decent one yet
