Some problems with Android 12 - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Hi everybody.
My S20 Ultra has been upgraded via FOTA to Android 12 a few days ago, with build SP1A.210812.016.G988BXSCEUL9.
With new firmware, the following problems frequently occur:
default browser is reset to Google Chrome (I set Firefox);
consequently, default password manager (Firefox) stops working on other apps;
Google Home changes to wrong Google account with no reasons (I have 2 accounts configured);
Camera seems to not to perfectly fix focus;
least, Nova Launched is frequently reported to be crashed (while it is not) by a popup asking to clear cash and to re-set default launcher (awaiting answer from developer for this).
Any suggestions?
Regards

Camera focus issue exist since the day samsung launched S20 series.
All the reviewers said it.
I only bought it coz of offer and don't use camera at all. xD
Nova launcher is not crashing on my S20+ ui4.0
I noticed significant battery drop if on wifi.
UI is very laggy.

Since CS replaced the camera module focus is better, but software image rebuild on zoom is still unstable.
Battery is better on my device, I use WiFi6.
I have no lag on UI, maybe you have any processes draining battery and dropping performances?

Super V7.01_20170123 Android N ROM - SPFT + OTA release

Its finally here! The first final release for Nougat 7.0
For now its through SPFT. If you want the OTA you'll have to wait until next month.
http://community.umidigi.com/thread-6292-1-1.html
Enjoy!
OTA "is working" for me...
I have to download .zip file from UMI DIGI site copy to SD card and use "Local update" in phone update menu. No personal data will be removed.
Hi i am using version from october 20161017.
Must i first upgrade to 20161721 and then upgrade via SPFT to Nougat?
No need for that. Flash it from your current rom.

Because this is the first official version of Nougat the optimisation for Wakelocks isn't the best. Also when you upgrade to a totally new Android version you need a at least 3 charge cycles where you go from 100% to 5% before you charge your device up to 100% again. One thing I've done due to the poor Wakelock management is using greenify, it works even better if you have a rooted device.

The dark camera issue has somewhat been resolved in third party apps. I noticed a bug that still persist using the selfie camera on snapchat, taking photos looks fine but if you try video recording the screen goes very dark like the previous dark camera issue.
If the poor camera was just down to software don't you think Umi would've fixed it already? I mean i had this phone since July 2016 and not much has changed. I never got this device for the camera though but for the reasonable hardware for a very cheap price.

Try Open camera app on play store. It stopped twitching of the picture. But it was dark. If it's not great!
Im not an expert but i think the problem is that they take the camera module from i.e. Samsung Galaxy s6 and some new processor from MediaTek and can't make them fully compatible...or something like that...
i am asking here because in the umi forums no one seems to be interested in responding to questions.
does anyone still has android 6 installed and rooted? i would need the apk: mtkquicksearchbox
this is the grey searchbox enabled on the homescreen by default. with this one you could search and find everything and i have no idea why i now have to cope with that bad google one.
Any root methods for Android 7.0 of UMi Super?

I have bad news for you. THe Mtkquicksearchbox doesn't work on Nougat 7. Before switching over i saved the APK and when i tried to install it after i upgraded from N6 to N7 the app just won't install.
I believe it has to do with something on the writing permissions on the system. Even after rooting my phone and giving rw permission in es file explorer it wouldn't work.
I prefer the mtk quicksearch over google and hope this might come back in a later software upgrade by Umi but i highly doubt they will put it back in future releases of N7, i could be wrong though.

Sim Card Not Detected
I updated my Android Umi Super through the local method.
But now my simcards cannot be detected.
I have tried re-booting...cold boots, Airplane Mode On Off
Simcard removal... Another Local Install
Etc.
What Should I do.
Updated to the latest firmware, now I'm getting constant soft reboots...
Tried through local OTA and the soft reboots started. Redownloaded and managed to get it to flash through local OTA again in between soft reboots, no change. Full factory reset, no change.
Tried updating through SPTool, still getting the same soft reboots every minute or so.
Any ideas out there?
Pls so I shouldn't download the v7.01...... Again if there will be problem right.
Microphone not working well after update
Since my upgrade to android 7 on my UMI super I have found a few bugs:
1.) Banking app is not working any more
2.) When I do a video chat with my friends they can't hear me at all and mostly hear white noise. This is the same on skype, messenger, watsapp calling etc. This was not present in android 6. I have reset my phone and still both problems exist Anyway to revert back to android 6?
Have they fixed the crap/no gps lock issues??? Or is that just a pipe dream???

How's the RAM management after December update?

Hello, been following the Pixel 3 for quite some time and contemplating changing to the Pixel 3 from Pixel 2. But the RAM management issue is holding me back and since the December update claimed to have solved the RAM management issue, I am wondering how is the fix, any more random closure of spotify and other apps?

It is for the most part eliminated. I've only seen it happen if you have a gazillion apps open and not like before where you had 3 or 4 and it'll refresh or close the first one. I use Spotify on daily basis at work for several hours as I deliver and never had it close on me even after having a lot of apps in the background.

I haven't had any issues on the December build, or previously. The security blog was pretty vague about the depth of the fix. On Spotify, have you checked the size of the cache? It can get really huge depending on which settings you select. Try deleting that cache from within Spotify settings. Mine had grown to over 2GB and I had no idea. It's worth a try. You may already know there were a ton of functional improvements on this last update, even for the P2.
It's definitely better. I haven't had Spotify close on my when playing a game or taking photos like it was previously.
I'm still having ram issues when having YouTube playing in picture in picture mode and taking a picture and typing in Snapchat. That's one of the only problems I've been having. Spotify and Snapchat works a lot better after update. I replicated it with all background apps closed and still same thing.
Doesn't work near like the note 9 i will tell you that. Lets say I have a game 2 apps back and i switch to text or messages and boom i go back and game restarts. On the note 9 i could put it 15 apps back and boom still holds progress

I second this. It's better but not to the level of Note 9. The Note 9 does have 2 extra gigas of ram so it's not really a fair comparison.
Having no issues whatsoever on mine. What little issues I had before are gone now.
Still closes Pokemon Go when you have more than two apps open, especially the camera.

Yeah mine actually has 8 gb so it is double the pixel but still would like to see things a little closer in top tier devices
I find that the Dec update fixed a lot of problems with smoothness. It was even smoother after I did a fill fresh install/wipe through the official full rom. Battery seems better too.

Samsung Galaxy S9 One UI Major Problem

Hi I just upgraded officially my Samsung Galaxy S9 G960W One UI Major PROBLEMS is that:-
1: Whenever you open the camera app by double clicking power button and take instant snaps the camera does not stores any taken picture and simultaneously the camera app freezes and shows 'camera app failed'. Now the camera application is constantly showing this warning and freezes even though I try to open camera normally.
2: The new animations are sometimes fast and snappy just like previous ones but again I feel like these are new and not properly been tested and these animations stuck sometimes in 3rd party applications as INSTAGRAM, Whatsapp, Snap, etc. Honestly, I feel like about this One UI animations as I'm using some cheap 3rd party play store launcher.
Honestly, I want my old Samsung experience (UI) back it's because I never experienced any single problem with that one for 5 months of using this device.
Pros: 1: Experiencing one hour (approximately) improved battery life. 2: Better ram management 3: New animations feel little more snappy than the previous ones. 4: Better notification panel layout and scrolling down of apps for one hand usage.
Final verdict: One UI update desperately needs an update to fix this major camera issue.
I also updated to one ui in 16 january.
Camera and animations don't have any problem, battery life isn't very good, and I have few things here and there that Samsung should fix. I hope february update will fix all bugs and make One UI more stable...

Through none of the Pie betas has a camera problem like that been reported that I know of. I'm not sure your problem requires an update. Have you cleared the system cache since the uodate? That's something that's always recommended after or immediately before an uodate.
Yes I did cleared cachce right after the update.

Factory reset is not the solution for these problems and I didn't buy the premium product to keep doing factory resets.

Bro factory reset isn't the solution for everything, some people are finding even more bugs after resetting their device... These unnecessary corrupted files from the old software will likely be gone after clearing the cache.

Android 10 Lag on Note 10+ Snapdragon

Originally posted on Samsung members. This issue is now critical. If you care about this issue, I have created an issue under Samsung Members. Please post your experience and issues there and hopefully it gets the attention of Samsung
https://r1.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-Note/Android-10-Lag-on-Note10/td-p/3320184
Has anyone else seen noticeable Lag after updating to Android 10 in the galaxy s10 or Note10+.
Using the samsung launcher, there is lag when scrolling through the app drawer and multitasking.
I have tried,*
cleaning my dalvik cache
Removing my SD card
Updating all apps for android 10
And performing the built in device care optimization*
I think a performance update is needed to take care of this.
The multitasking lag becomes worse during the day until phone is restarted.*
Update 31012020: I finally decided to factory reset my phone. This did not work. I use nova launcher and uninstalled it as well. Lag still remains.
I have found that the lag only appears after about 20+ apps are in the recent apps menu. However this issue did not happen in Android 9. What is also interesting my moms s10 exhibits the same behaviour.
Further I have gone into developer options and when I set Animator level from 1x to 0x, the lag is gone. This is the only solution. However the downside to this is that instead of animations of loading wheels or progress bars, there is just a static circular arrow. I hope Samsunf fixes this issue.
Have had zero lag since updating to android 10. Never had any lag on pie either. Maybe its just an issue with your phone
I had alot of lag, everything lagged actually. The latest TMobile update fixed it for me.
I have had lag. Just opening simple apps like what's app and trying to start typing.
I have the very same issue on my Exynos Note 10. After the Android 10 update, app launcher and app switcher lag like it's 2006.
Lag in Note 10 +
Hi, just updated to 10 and it's really poor. Lag everywhere. Mostly between apps pages. But mostly everywhere. I'm in NZ with Spark Network. Personally feel this has to be fixed with an update.

Had exactly the same issue on my note 10+ (exynos).. after complaining about the issue I saw a post that mentioned that some apps with the permission to display on top was the culprit. In my case, after disabling this permission of dashlane it fixed the problem. Are you using dashlane?

Hey,
I am using lastpass, which does require the appear on top permission.
Solution:
update 04022020. I finally got rid of the lag. I installed the Samsung Goodlock app from the Galaxy app store and installed the task changer plugin. I then set my task manager to be displayed as a grid. but you can change it to any style.
the Goodlock app and plugin are designed by Samsung. this leads me to believe there is something wrong with the stock animation in the app switcher.
Good fix for task switcher, but it doesn't solve the app pages speed issue. Samsung need to release a fix
---------- Post added at 08:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:32 AM ----------
Solved it ! for me, it's definitely 3rd party apps that run in the background. Check your permissions and what has accesses to your phone. For me a block site app that has accessablility access was the culprit.
Spamsung, up to his old tricks, got a nope10 rooted up and have been good, except for all the other spammy DOWNGRADES( samFAIL needs somthing to fkeep you coming back for a new fix) what a twisted guy!
As the sob story goes, if anyone cares to hear the drama from spammy's momma lol
Been on Android 9 and staying, unless spammy forces his spam on me?
So can't search for this problem with Android 9 because everything shows up as note 10 upgrade Android 10, of course when trying to -Android10 it also takes away anything for nope10 results ? so for the past couple hours feels like I am back using my old HTC 4g( that's what I all an upgrade!!) I didn't do anything new just reset the phone because battery ran out, so much lag now ?
Treid changing animation from 1x to none
did not work
Update :
So this happened for a couple days and without any making changes, now today without making any changes everything is back to normal. So my guess is that because of the virus spammy let's the powers that be get inside your phone and spied on creating all this lag, it actually took me initially 7 minutes to type the first part of this message because the lag was so bad.
This is spamsung at his best!
#spamsung for the inside scoop?
I used to have this issue on a nope 8, and I noticed whenever it happened when I had more than say 30+forefox pages open, but now it's happening in the note 10+ saying that ram is using 7.5gb lol
And when in i used a task manager it would show - 1million kb boost to stop apps running and forefox had all that negitve - 1million + kb's on it but now it's showing Firefox with only 189mb but the boost is still at 1m+ lol
I don't know what anybody's talking about with lag this thing's a beast! Try beast mode kernel too little bit of battery loss but **** it who cares it's so damn snappy I can't see straight when I'm playing with my phone
Odd, odd, I have never, ever experienced anything of the sort in any of my samsung devices, since the S3, I currently own a note 10+ running android 10, it behaves exactly as day one, so, the cause must be something not related to official firmwares issued by samsung
Which apps are lagging?
Could scope storage be the culprit?
I'm still on Pie and it remains very fast and rock solid stable phone.
There's a lot I don't like about 10 and 11.
Funny Google is preaching security with their OS "improvements" when Goggle is one of the worst data miners there is.

Question Weird scrolling behavior / inconsistent scrolling acceleration moddable?

I got my OnePlus 9 Pro yesterday and instantly noticed that they modified the scrolling behavior / acceleration with the OnePlus 9 Pro. Scrolling now feels really slow, compared to the OnePlus 8 Pro, and the biggest problem is that it is not consistent between different apps. While on Chrome it is nearly as fast as on the OnePlus 8 Pro it's pretty slow in Google Play Store, Twitter, Google Feed etc.
Here is a screen record comparison between the two: OP9 Pro / OP8 Pro
Do you guys know if there is a way to mod that? I am also going to root my device, so if I need root to fix it that's not a problem.
Is there anyone else that noticed the same?

At the moment I am not rooted, but it still works like it worked on the 8 Pro by unlocking the bootloader and flashing a Magisk patched boot image.

Oh, when you said "I am also rooted so that is not the problem." you meant on the 8 Pro?
Sorry, I rephrased it, I wanted to say that if I need root that it is not a problem.
I don't have a solution for you but my experience is the exact same. The slow scrolling is a big issue for me, but I'd imagine it's a small tweak or update away from being fixed.
I noticed it to. I thought I was going nuts. Glad to see it is not just me. Hopefully this gets fixed because scrolling through my Google News feed is really slow now compared to my OP8 pro.
-Frank
This happened when the 8pro was released, they eventually fixed it after a few updates but for a month or so scrolling was janky.
Just installed the recent update and scrolling is much improved!
Build number
Oxygen OS 11.2.1.1.LE15AA
I've got the same scrolling weirdness on my 9 Pro - only in certain apps, like Outlook and the Google discover feed. Chrome and Gmail are fine. I got the latest update today and the scrolling hesitation is still there.
I'm sure this is one of those things that they will tweak over within the next couple updates they do. I personally haven't noticed it. Going from my oneplus8 pro to this phone now, but something to look out for.
It seems to be tied to the screen refresh rate. I enabled the Dev option to show the refresh rate and the apps I notice it the most in are the ones that run at 60hz
I was setting up the 9 pro next to my 8 pro and this was the first thing I noticed. But now, a day later it is as smooth as on the 8 Pro.
I have seen this too and for those that have do you all still have the factory fit screen protector on?

I have no problem on scrolling. have you try these setting: 1. in display setting -->profesional setting, set to 120Hz and resolution to QHD+ and turn off smart power saving at QHD+setting 2. turn on the overclock response tap
3. go to developer mode and set all visual effect to 0.5. Then restart your phone you should see the difference
