Relock bootloader after changing from RU to EU - Xiaomi Mi 10T / 10T Pro Questions & Answers

I bought my phone from an online store (Amazon) and it came with an RU (or some Scandinavian variant) ROM.
I unlocked bootloader, flashed EU version, and voila. Perfect.
I want to relock the bootloader for my own purposes. Don't ask
Questions:
1 - will the phone be formatted?
2 - is it possible to relock after changing from RU to EU?
I was reading and the only not possible is relock after changing from China to EU/Global version.
In my case, both versions where international. So maybe it is possible to relock.
Is it?
Thanks in advance

Yes, the only firmware not interchangeable, either to go to or to go from, is the Chinese. And relocking bootloader the same way as unlocking it will format data. Consider that to relock bootloader you wouldn't change anything more, must stay completely in stock ROM.
I recommend you take a look here https://www.mi.com/global/verify/#/en/tab/imei to be sure the model firmware that originally came with.

Thank you so much for your promptly and clarifying answer! 10 points
I took a look, used my both IMEI and it clearly says "International version", not the variant (RU, IN, EU...), only international. Is it expected?
My goal to relock the bootloader is to stopping having problems with safetynet. Currently I'm rooted, using safetynet fix, and for now it is all good.
But I use root apps only sometimes, mostly for "fun" purposes, and they aren't a thing I really need in my life.
So I prefer to go stock, and stopping have to worry. I use my phone mostly for work purposes and I need it to be always completely operational

you need to remove the ARB path from the flashall.bat file
ie :: check anti_version
if exist% ~ dp0images \ anti_version.txt (for / f "delims ==" %% a in (% ~ dp0images \ anti_version.txt) do (set CURRENT_ANTI_VER = %% a))
if [% CURRENT_ANTI_VER%] EQU [] set CURRENT_ANTI_VER = 0
for / f "tokens = 2 delims =:" %% i in ('fastboot% * getvar anti 2 ^> ^ & 1 ^ | findstr / r / c: "anti:"') to (set version = %% i)
if [% version%] EQU [] set version = 0
set anticheck = "antirollback check pass"
if% version% GTR% CURRENT_ANTI_VER% set anticheck = "Current device antirollback version is greater than this pakcage"
echo% anticheck% | findstr / r / c: "pass" || @ECHO "Antirollback check error" && exit / B 1

Just don't forget to get rid of all "custom" you actually have running in your device in the case you think to relock bootloader through commands BUT if you will relock it using Mi Flash tool then no care with, the firmware will replace all that actually you have, format data and relock it, be sure to use the latest international version available.

As of my knowledge "fastboot oem lock" will destroy the system image if it was modified.

I am sorry but I didn't get what exactly you are saying. Let me give more details. I have Indian variant of the device. Suppose I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and flashed some custom rom. Later if I wanna relock the bootloader, what exactly I am supposed to do.

To do this, flash the miui fastboot rom via XiaoMiFlash and make sure the "clean all and lock" option is selected.
Of course, this means that everything on your phone will be erased - the phone will be restored to its factory settings as on the day of purchase.

1) If your device came with a Chinese firmware out of the box and you cross-flashed an Indian or a global you should not re-lock it.
2) If your device came with an Indian or a global firmware and you cross-flashed a Chinese firmware then you should not re-lock it.

I'm assuming before re-locking bootloader, you have to flash stock rom and stock recovery appropriate to your phone model?
Yes, it's mandatory to re-flash the stock ROM which previously was into device, assuming that it's used MiFlash tool both things are done in same operation.

OnePlus 7T flash to global - relock bootloader

Hi - I have HD1907 T-mobile that I flashed to global. I want to re-lock the bootloader so no issues with any apps, and don't get the warning when I boot. But when I relock it I get the device corrupted error. Is there anyway to do this?
I just want the global flash for dual sim. Don't need bootloader unlock.
Thanks in advance!
I'm in the same boat and I've asked the same question here but no replies.

I'm new to this. How do I "go settings make the factory settings?"
Also are you saying the partition will automatically "go back to the way it should after factory settings lock bootlader" or is there something else to be done?
Just flash Global on fastboot, then just run your global. Go to Settings>Factory Reset

I converted my tmobile to international a few days ago using the guide on xda. I think this used 10.0.03 as the initial international rom. I made sure to do an ota (full update 2.75 gb) to 10.0.15. At this point I was on the official oneplus software and not the version used to convert and had no issues relocking the bootloader with fastboot oem lock command.
Was watching Netflix on my converted 7T last night.

Question Is It Possible To Root This Device?

Hello.
Forgive me if I am in the wrong thread.
I have the OP 9 5G Pro.
Software Version 11.2.7.7. LE5ACB
Sim is locked to T-Mobile.
OEM unlocking is enabled (using an ADB command found on an XDA OP9 forum).
But...
This is a Sprint device on T-Mobile network.
Questions:
1. Is my OEM Unlock truly unlocked? How do I check?
2. If so, can I follow the same bootloader unlock procedure as TMO/EU variants to obtain root?
3. Should I update to latest OOS before attemptng bootloader unlock?
Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Thank You.

You are in the correct forum. This forum is for OnePlus 9 Pro models of any kind (T-Mobile, Global, EU, China, India).
You have multiple options for rooting this device. I will list them out.
1. Follow the guide for applying for a token unlock here (will wipe data): https://www.oneplus.com/support/answer/detail/op588
2. Use TMO to EU MSM here (also will wipe data): https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...lock-bin-needed.4272837/page-19#post-86828151
Make sure to download this MSM in case something goes wrong: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/op9pro-repository-of-msm-unbrick-tools-tmo-eu-glo-in.4272549/

1. If you're able to check the OEM Unlock option, then it definitely does work. If you're unsure, the requirement for being able to check that option is to have your SIM permanently unlocked. Also, when you boot to fastboot, when you type "fastboot flashing unlock", it should say it needs a token instead of needing OEM unlocked to be checked first.
2. Yes, you must follow the instructions for TMO variant of the phone because that's what you have. If you go with the second option, you can unlock like the EU variant without an unlock token, i.e. by typing "fastboot flashing unlock" and selecting "unlock the bootloader".
3. You don't need to update OOS before bootloader unlocking, however, your recovery WILL WIPE DATA! If your data is needed, let me know and I can provide backup instructions. Generally though, you can download your MSM or the EU conversion one, start the program, press F8, enter password "oneplus", and select the partitions to backup. Then press OK and press the readback button to backup your data.
One more thing to note. There's a fifty-fifty chance you may lose access to your DRM keys. If this happens, use the EU conversion MSM, unlock the bootloader straight away without updating the phone, then take a FULL system update, not the small 400-500 MB ones. That should fix your Widevine level back to L1. You only need this if you care about Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, or something along those lines.

Question Possible to go from 8 Pro + CN to EU version?

I know this doesn't answer the first part of your question directly but it works the other way. I have installed CN on my EU model. Interesting that there's a few extra settings in the CN such as updating the GPU directly.
I'm on the latest CN firmware V2.26 and the battery is much better but probably due to all the battery saving default settings.

Yes, you can change the payload_properties.txt in the rom of the region you want to flash. Change the text "nx729j_un" or "nx729j_**" for " NUBIA_SUBVERSION to "nx729j". Put the modified rom in the root directory and use local update. You do not have to unlock the bootloader to do this. If this does not work then you have to unlock the bootloader and flash the recovery of the rom in the region you want to change to and use sideload to flash the rom. However the second method might mess up your phone and you might not be able to boot your phone.

In the payload_properties.txt, change the text "nx729j_un" for " NUBIA_SUBVERSION to "nx729j". Put the modified rom in the root directory and use local update. You do not have to unlock the bootloader to do this. If this does not work then you have to unlock the bootloader by go to bootloader and in the command window type
fastboot flashing unlock
Follow the direction to unlock the phone
You need to extract the payload.bin from the CN rom, then use payload dumper or fastboot enhance to extract recovery.img from the payload.bin. Go to bootloader and flash the recovery of the CN rom (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
Then reboot to recovery, choose English when you see "Wipe data" type
adb reboot sideload
Once your phone boots into sideload mode (When you see the two error line at the bottom of the screen) type
adb sideload NX729J-update.zip (this is the CN rom you want to flash)
Whether the transfer is successful or not you can wipe the data and reboot the phone. If the transfer is successful you will be in the CN rom, if not you should be back to your own Global rom. The sideload will load the new rom to the other slot so it should not change the current slot.
I'm terms of unlocking the bootloader all I have to do is go into fastboot mode (with OEM unlock, USB debugger selected on the phone of course) and type in the "fastboot flashing unlock" command and whatever next steps I'm supposed to do? Also I have not set fingerprint and or security pin on this phone yet and I've read that people are having issues with them after unlocking bootloader. Is your bootloader unlocked? If so are you having pin/fingerprint issues and if not was there anything you need to do to avoid the issue when unlocking the bootloader? TY!
