Hello.
Forgive me if I am in the wrong thread.
I have the OP 9 5G Pro.
Software Version 11.2.7.7. LE5ACB
Sim is locked to T-Mobile.
OEM unlocking is enabled (using an ADB command found on an XDA OP9 forum).
But...
This is a Sprint device on T-Mobile network.
Questions:
1. Is my OEM Unlock truly unlocked? How do I check?
2. If so, can I follow the same bootloader unlock procedure as TMO/EU variants to obtain root?
3. Should I update to latest OOS before attemptng bootloader unlock?
Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Thank You.

You are in the correct forum. This forum is for OnePlus 9 Pro models of any kind (T-Mobile, Global, EU, China, India).
You have multiple options for rooting this device. I will list them out.
1. Follow the guide for applying for a token unlock here (will wipe data): https://www.oneplus.com/support/answer/detail/op588
2. Use TMO to EU MSM here (also will wipe data): https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...lock-bin-needed.4272837/page-19#post-86828151
Make sure to download this MSM in case something goes wrong: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/op9pro-repository-of-msm-unbrick-tools-tmo-eu-glo-in.4272549/

1. If you're able to check the OEM Unlock option, then it definitely does work. If you're unsure, the requirement for being able to check that option is to have your SIM permanently unlocked. Also, when you boot to fastboot, when you type "fastboot flashing unlock", it should say it needs a token instead of needing OEM unlocked to be checked first.
2. Yes, you must follow the instructions for TMO variant of the phone because that's what you have. If you go with the second option, you can unlock like the EU variant without an unlock token, i.e. by typing "fastboot flashing unlock" and selecting "unlock the bootloader".
3. You don't need to update OOS before bootloader unlocking, however, your recovery WILL WIPE DATA! If your data is needed, let me know and I can provide backup instructions. Generally though, you can download your MSM or the EU conversion one, start the program, press F8, enter password "oneplus", and select the partitions to backup. Then press OK and press the readback button to backup your data.
One more thing to note. There's a fifty-fifty chance you may lose access to your DRM keys. If this happens, use the EU conversion MSM, unlock the bootloader straight away without updating the phone, then take a FULL system update, not the small 400-500 MB ones. That should fix your Widevine level back to L1. You only need this if you care about Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, or something along those lines.

i have found some threads about it here, but they are a bit confusing since they are showing how to do everything, like rooting, unlcloking and all these stuffs together and i just want to do the conversion to international without uncloking the bootloader, so if someone could help me with that i will appreciate it.

Hi, I have a oneplus 7T that belongs to T-MOBILE, I decided to make it global, after doing the process I made the mistake of blocking the bootloader after that the terminal does not pass the error "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and will not boot ", I can only enter the fastboot mode, I have tried to enter the EDL mode to do the process again through the MSM through the adb commands and through a deep flash cable and np I have been lucky.
I have also tried to unlock the bootloader but it does not allow me, because it gives me an error related to that I have to enable unlocking through the android developer.
The pc only recognizes the terminal as "Android Bootloader Interface".
So if you can acces the fastboot mode have you tried flashing a oos10/11 fastboot rom ?

Hi
I had is same problem, and is very easy to solve.
You only have use the method for which to use for covert the device in global versión, but only

It's all a matter of taking the procedure to the point where it allows it to be flashed through fastboot

It is not necessary to use the TMobile rom, you just have to get to the point where the phone is unlocked with the command "fastboot flashing unlock_critical" and then jump to steps 7 and 8 of the guide referenced in the link I shared.

Hi all. I'm thinking about purchasing a oneplus 9 pro, via tmobile. I know traditionally speaking you have to pay off your phone to network unlock, and then request an unlock token from oneplus to be able to root the device. I havent snooped around the forums here much for this device. Is there currently a way to root the phone without having to do all the pre-req crap normally required. Is there a way to unlock bootloader like there was with oneplus 7T via MSM tool or similar? I don't perticularly care about SIM unlock, just bootloader. Thanks!

OnePlus phones are easy to root as compared to a few other brands. And since there is a flash tool available for OnePlus phones, you can take risks for rooting your phone. You can use the flash tool to fix your phone in case of any issue. Rooting is not an easy task, but Magisk app makes it easier if you follow the correct steps. But you cannot directly root your phone by default. So first we will share how to unlock bootloader of OnePlus 9 (Pro).

Hi.
So I just bought a T-Mobile 9 pro online and I go to unlock the bootloader, and it won't let me ! I've tried the ADB command and it gave me an error saying it's not allowed. Then I turned the phone off and tried the button sequence to get into it. But there is no advanced option from recovery to boot into fastboot.
Just so you know. I'm trying to convert it to international ROM as I have done before with my other OnePlus phones.
Is this a common thing with T-Mobile ?
And how can I get the bootloader unlocked ?
Thanks

If you don't have your unlock token from T-Mobile, you will need to use the Tmo->Eu MSM conversion tool to convert to EU. Then unlock bootloader there and go on to global or stay on Eu. If you stay on oos11 or 12, flash nonhlos modem back in.
You should back up modemst1/2 and persist/efs to be safe

I already know how to unlock the bootloader. I just know that on some TMobile variants of OnePlus devices, like the OnePlus 8 you have to go through a bunch of extra **** to be able to unlock the bootloader, but if you have the boot file that is prepatched with magisk you can just flash that as long as it is the same version. Does anyone know if you have to have the sim unlocked in order to unlock the bootloader like you do with the op8? Or can you just enable OEM unlock and then adb to unlock the bootloader?

4) Download Magisk apk file from here and save it to your platform-tools folder
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/v25.2/Magisk-v25.2.apk
5) Click on the address bar of windows explorer and type "cmd" to open a command windows
6) With phone connected to PC, copy the magisk app to internal storage and then type "adb reboot bootloader" and hit enter
7) Once in bootloader mode, type "fastboot boot twrp.img" enter
8) once twrp loads, tap install and select the magisk app and install it then reboot to system
9) once OS has loaded, go into app drawer and tap on Magisk (looks like a green android icon) and follow the prompts,
10) Reboot and enjoy a rooted phone but not completely rooted!

I wanted to confirm that you don't need sim unlock to unlock bootloader. You can enable oem toggle with adb or one+tool and unlock bootloader and root. I did need to submit my token and wait a week. There have been recent reports of the unlock bin sent back from OnePlus automatically isn't right and people are reaching out to support to get the right bin back.
I submitted my token, flashed to EU, unlocked bootloader without token, rooted. Then when my token arrived a week later, I went back to stock Tmo rom, unlocked with token, and rooted.
(I monitored the requests for sim unlock to see if I could find anything useful. I monitored failures and successful unlock packets and then went back to EU rom)

I meant to quote you in my above post. Sorry
termux proot-distro can root as well but android kernel not rooted
you sure can root Tmo stock rom. the numbers may be differet but the iteration of firmware is the same on all variants. Its been a while, but, my first OP9P i flashed whatever. Just use the boot.img from AA or EU but be careful. It has to match. Example: Tmo 11.2.4.4 compatible boot.img with 11.2.8.8 AA/EU/NA. And so on.
For me, I'm lost with the newer firmwares and just got back. Will be converting cause Tmo wont sim unlock my paid off phone. Sick of Tmobile at this point
