Question WiFi problems after update to 62.0.A.3.163 - Sony Xperia 10 III

Hello.
After update to 62.0.A.3.163 (about week ago) I have problems with WiFi connection:
Once/twice a day phone loses WiFi connection and then:
a) it does not see saved WiFi connection (other SSIDs are searchable) still being in range of it - here it helps to switch off and on again the WiFi option in Settings;
b) and sometimes it does not see any WiFi SSID (search list is empty) - here only restarting the phone helps.
I've already tried to:
- disable/enable "Turn on Wi-Fi automatically" setting;
- switching "Use randomized MAC" to "Use device MAC" in settings for saved WiFi SSID;
- disable/enable "Wi-Fi scan throttling" in "Developer options";
- perform "factory reset".
All of that did not help to solve the problem.
Does anyone have this kind of WiFi problem on 62.0.A.3.163?
PS. I had no WiFi problems on system version 62.0.A.3.70.

After upgrade I could not activate wifi at all, but restart helped so far.
I suggest You to contact with the Sony support.

Thx.
Request to Sony support sent and waiting for them to replay.

The support suggested to make "software repair" with Xperia Companion and... it did not helped.
Second suggestion was to contact local authorized repair center what I'm about to do next...

I had the same issue, and I also contacted support. While waiting for an answer though I started inspecting some of the more recently installed apps and after removing a few of them the issue seems to be gone. I say seems, because I would need a couple days to verify it for sure.
Do you by any chance have any of the following apps?
- kiss launcher
- simple calculator
- simple media player

Nope.

Well then, I guess you'd have to try and uninstall some apps and see how it works for you.
I'd start with apps not installed from google-play, like YT Vanced, F-droid stuff etc.
Do you by any chance have Youtube Vanced? I also updated it to the latest version yesterday, might be related.

I had this Wi-fi problem still after "software repair" and without installing any additional apps after initial setup, so...
Today I'm sending my phone to the repair center.

Well, I also reported this, so hopefully they will fix it in a new firmware.
I am hesitant to send it to repair because it will be weeks before I get it back.

I don't know is this related, but now phone logs are flooded with messages:
Code:
avc: denied { find } for pid=5908 uid=10328 name=tethering
scontext=u:rermissioncontroller_app:s0:c72,c257,c512,c768
tcontext=ubject_r:tethering_service:s0 tclass=service_manager permissive=0
After restarting the phone, no such logs, but when I just toggle wifi off/on, the flooding starts again.
So I also sent a complaint to support.

Great Job, thanks. I also got the problem, just as I changed my router xD I thought it was the problem. Anyway I don't think sending phone to repair centre could be the right choice. It's a bug that will be solved in future updates I hope.

Any news? Support suggest to me also to perform a software repair, but I don't want to do it (I have no interest nor time to reinstall/restore all my settings/apps) and like You said, it's also pointless.

Yes, "software repair" did not helped for me.
At repair center the motherboard was replaced - it did not helped neither.
I've decided to send it back to the shop for refunds.

There's nothing that needs to be repaired, either hardware or software.
We just need to wait for an update or stay on the older firmware. Although I don't have the WiFi problems on .163 firmware and gsi rom.

Samsung i780 Wifi problem

Hi,
I bought Samsung i780 and I cant create a new wifi connection.
When I go to Settings > Connections Tab > Wifi >
there's no option for New connections.
When I checked the Version of my device, the wifi section is blank on all 3 options...
Can you help me figure out this problem?
Thanks,
anyone here with the answer or have experienced my problem?
Give us more info
Was it always like that?
Where did you buy it from? was it new? do you have warrenty?
Did you flash any ROM onto the device?
If it came that way fom the seller it may be that the Wifi element is defective and should be replaced.
It may also be that the ROM radio part was flashed and messed up by the previous owner or by yourself if you flashed the device.
can only assume with what you give us...

I bought it new here in the Philippines. When I came home to open the box, I tried to create a new Wifi connection and there's button or option.
When I go to Start > Settings > Connections tab
I see the Network card/wifi... and it has a list, one of which is Samsung 802.11 wifi card (swl-2.)
on the left soft key is Edit and on the right key its blank.
When I try to open Wireless Manager, I only see 2 options. Bluetooth and Phone.
sounds like a defective unit?

The network adapter tab in Wifi refers to, I believe, the device driver not to the actual HW.
If in Settings->System->Version You don't see the SW and HW version or MAC address of your Wifi (IEEE 802.11 b/g) card, then you should definitely replace it at your dealer's
May be the wifi application does not load....have you tried soft rest????....... this problem happened to my xda stealth after Rom upgrade and worked latter after repeat upgrade....
Click on the signal bar for your phone this should bring up a diaoluge - then within that - click on "wireless manager". If wifi is unavailable in there or you are unable to turn it on by clicking on the wifi tab then I'd say you have a defective unit.

hi joezhang...
i did what you said and wifi is not showing up as an option. it only has bluetooth and phone. it must have been disabled or something. but i cant find any fix on the web...
It's either been disabled (which is odd in an unlocked phone) or it's just plain faulty - I'd take it back to the shop I think.
i went back to samsung only to find out that they don't have the software patch. i want my money back...

If they say it's a software issue, and don't have a solution,
you may want to consider flashing your device with a full ROM (eboot+pda+radio) that you can find here.
(latest full ROM image posted is DXHC4)
If you have nothing to loose (warrenty wise), it may be worth a shot.
The wifi just disappeared in mine today, did you have any luck getting it back yet? I've tried flashing various combinations of ROMs and no luck so far - only 7 days left before I can't send it back!

Guys,
I'm about 1,5 year late with this answer, but today, i use WM6.5 now and have the same issue. It is caused by SPB Phone Suit, which if installed, no Wifi connections tab, only the above described card selector, and no wifi.
As soon as I remove the installation of SPB Phone suite, the problem is solved.
So it is not 100% a defective Wifi item...

[Q] Desire z slow at messaging

Hi
I have a problem with a Desire Z. Alot of times when I try to send a message (SMS) it takes forever (5min) before it gets sent. If I hit the home-button while watching/waiting for the message to be sent, it's put in drafts instead of keep trying to send.
It's also slow at recivieving messages. Tested with a couple of other phones and compared.
Does anyone else have a simular issue? The sim-card has been used for years with other phones without troubles.
Try using a different messaging app (i.e. handcent)

Same problem for me. Hoping the new OTA solve this problem.
Tap on "send", put the phone away, look at the phone after an hour, somethimes the sms is still "sending" !
I only get this if I have no or very bad signal, i.e. it will wait till it's got a signal to send it.
I wonder if it's worthwhile for you guys to do a factory reset or re-flash the ROM ?
Only thing I can think of is using the "delete old messages" function after deleting all your messages. other than that, I'd try wiping cache and dalvik cache (assuming you are rooted). Re-flashing the ROM should be a last resort (assuming that you even have a custom ROM installed).

This isn't relevant for my problem since it's always good strength + when I tested the slow recivieving the other phones was in the same room, with no problems

So it's possible it's so slow at sending since it has alot of messages in the inbox? It might be the case, but even so it's lame if that's the reason, it's far more powerfull than just handling some textfiles

Haha I agree with you on that, mine has messages in it from weeks and weeks ago. the only reason i said that is because when I was with sprint, I had a HERO (i know, they arent even close to the same spec-wise) and it acted the same way your G2 is acting now. I fixed it by doing what I recommended. worth a try
A little nomenclature for you...
OTA - Over The Air update. It's an update that HTC or your service provider pushes to your phone when it does a check-in, if it is more current than the version your phone is running. Basically it's a software patch for the system software located in your phone.
Seeing that you don't know what an OTA is yet, I can deduce that a rooted phone definitely isn't your problem. I think you should check your phone for updates (Settings -> About phone -> System updates -> Check for updates) and see if anything pops up after you hit okay.
If you find an OTA and the problem still persists, you may find a new SIM card would be an ideal option. Let me explain myself here:
When Cingular made the switch to AT&T I was still using a Cingular labeled SIM card. It worked fine until AT&T switched to 3G. When I got a 3G phone, I found that I couldn't get 3G no matter what I tried, because for some reason the SIM spec didn't support 3G. So I had to switch my SIM to get 3G. I've found that with each new spec that comes out, often times the best way to go is just to switch the SIM out each time you get a new phone. Might take a few minutes longer getting your contract up, but new SIMs seem to be sent out to our store (which is a AT&T/T-Mobile vendor) every time a new network spec is introduced by the carriers. I'm not entirely convinced that this is just a strange "coincidence".

Hehe thank you, but I do indeed know what rooting is etc., but the phone we're talking about isn't rooted so it's not the problem.
Just because I haven't bumped into the word OTA doesn't mean I don't know how the updatesystem from HTC works
And yes, it's the latest version, just got a update ticking in, dunno if it fixed the problem yet.

The recent update solved the problem (for my Desire z),
it was an HTC bug
Sorry for the late answer, but one day the mobile just decided to empty it's inbox for whatever unknown reason, and well, that solved the problem.
But thanks for all the answers, once again
the htc sense messaging app is horrible. the dates and times are wrong and it is like a pig. openeing, sending, reading are all slow.
install the vanilla android messaging app as shown here then you dont have to install third party

[Q] How to connect to hidden WiFi?

Hello xda community!
I have a strange and serious problem: I can't connect to hidden WiFi's.
I'm with a LG G3 D855 10H (no newer versions available).
At work we use a hidden WiFi without password but with Juniper VPN.
When I type in the network name and save it, it tries one time to connect, then my LG G3 shows "not in range". After a few seconds, the WiFi is on the top again with a very good signal.
When I try to connect again, it shows "not in range" again and so on.
I tried it at home and created a hidden network and it was reproducible.
Anyone else has problem with this?
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,
Jake

Now that is what you call a 'special' post!
Would you care to explain how it was resolved for the people that have the problem.
My problem still exists, but isn't urgent anymore.
I found out, Android itself have problems (or restrictions?) to hidden WiFi networks.
I also found an app names HiddenSSID Enabler, but it seems it didn't work for me (or G3?).
If someone has a solution it still would be very helpful fo rme and the rest of the community.
// Jake
I have logs posted in my first post, WIFI DESTROYED TWICE or there abouts.
I've had to resort to DATA and its killing me haha i think i am getting close to fixing it, well i think i may be closer than you two and can one of you kindly take the lead as im reinstalling windows and i haven't gamed in 6 days :|
/system/etc/wifi/WCNSS_qcomcfg.ini
then the problem is complex but i am sure it is something to do with gEnableApProt=1
Offshoot fix, reinstall using googled imei number that doesn't have a flag or some how fix the flag <READ A FEW DAYS BACK>
I think actually the program that stuffed me was Airmon by maxters. It asked me if i was pro and of course, i said yes. Who would simply click no? I know a ninj wouldn't click no. I think there is a manual reinstall to link to it again i find the modem in its own partition having a chill, most likely trojan/backdoor and pwning everything around me.. I had three encrypted vpn backdoors and escalated accounts on my computer I paid the 5$ for the binarys, i think i paid 5$ for the back doors.
Not to sell Airmon out though.. Rooting our phones and accessing countless forums and websites really does leave us rather "xposed" some other cuplrits may be dsploit, ROM manager, linux Deploy/kali, Pamn IP scanner, system app remover pro, busybox pro's (Stephen/JRummy) or CMinstall/accessing the forums and trying to install cynagenmod / twrp recovery. I'm probably going to go with..... Airmon/Linuxdeploy or uninstalltool. But may have just been my IP logged and i hit a booby trap script along the way.
You guys done anything of the sort?
/Thread killller
Neither I understand what you are talking about, nor am I (as not native english speaker) good at "sentence guessing".
I have a rooted phone - of course.
But I'm pretty sure my WiFi is not destroyed...

OK Google - No voice responses

Hi guys
Please help! I am a few days into my OnePlus 3 ownership and for most part I'm loving it! I have been a Nexus owner since the 4, with my last device being the 6P (unfortunately just a little too big to keep) and wanted a near vanilla OS device with great hardware in the form factor.
Besides the known bugs with Oxygen OS and the outdated phone apk which I wish had call blocking and local search/caller ID - any suggestions for a solution? The real issue for me is I get no voice responses to any of my OK Google voice commands. I am running the oxygen OS 3.2.1 update.
I only get responses in the browser / on screen. This is regardless of the command, what's the weather , what's the time in Tokyo etc or set a reminder, send a text to ... etc
Now I have done the following to troubleshoot:
1) Checked all related settings (speech output on etc)
2) Tried both uk and us English and ensured languages had been downloaded
3) Factory reset and tried again from restoring Google account
4) Factory reset and tried as a new phone with no Google account
Whatever I do there is no voice response. I will note during Google maps use if I ask a question I get a response.
OnePlus support offer nothing but an RMA which of course is probably no the solution it must be a setting or a software bug.
Can fellow owners check if they have the same issue and if they have a solution, kindly share it?
Many thanks

My first op3 was defective. Same issues with the mic. (besides phone calling)
Don't waste your time guys., you have to return device.
Sorry.
I think it only works on Google launcher home screen and any screen while phone is on (if activated under settings). It will not work while screen is off. Correct? Or are you referring to something different?

Thanks for your response, I am referring to the fact the phone doesn't talk back. No voice response when asked a question. 'OK Google' works from any screen when the phone is on (and you choose the setting) but whatever you do the answer or response is on screen only, no answers are spoken back.
I have the exact same issue, it was working when I received the phone. But since 4-5 days it has stopped responding back, it just shows the answers on screen.
Good to know that I am not the only one facing this problem. I hope it is just a software bug and will be fixed soon.
i am saddened because of this as well! I used to ask Google Now about the weather, time, to set the alarm and the talk-back is a great feature to
me, just that now my OP3 has lost this capability !!! I've already googled for a while, a few are questioning same problem but no resolution!
Wow, it got fixed automatically after so many days. I was just setting a reminder and it replied with voice, so I tested other commands too, like weather, time and other stuff. It is working properly for me now, please check if it's fixed for you too. (I didn't update to 3.2.2 yet)
I've had this phone for almost a week and have had the same issues. Tried clearing cache, reinstalling Google, changing settings and nothing worked. All of sudden it started talking back to me yesterday. So there is hope.

I don’t see this setting on my device. Any assistance would be appreciated where to find it or what needs to be done to get it.

Search works really well in the Settings menu. Type fingerprint and I bet you that you'll find it.
Nope, nothing under security and nothing when I searched. Must of got a lemon.

Oh that's definitely weird!!! I'd call google, or fastboot the factory image again if your bootloader unlocked
Googled it, not a common occurrence but it has happened on some Pixel smartphones. Recourse is return it and try another sine it is still in that window.
If not, it would have to be sent to google. They either fix it or send you a new device.

Did you try a factory reset? You would hate to send back and the problem is fixed but you get a new hardware issue on the replacement device.
Did it not allow you to set your fingerprint during the initial start setup?
Factory reset three times, did not help. It did not give me an option at startup to use fingerprint, only pin or password etc.
Anyone having this issue don’t beat yourself up trying to resolve. Return the Pixel and get a replacement. Next one I got after exchange was fine.
