Question Widevine Certificate Download - Xiaomi Mi Pad 5

Hi,
I have a Chinese Pad 5. Global ROM installed and rooted. The device is L1 certified. So far so good.
It seems quite common that the L1 certificates get lost on Xiaomi devices (custom ROM or Miui). But you can restore the certificate on devices with fingerprints using
Settings > Password & Security > Fingerprint Unlock > Fingerprint paymets > Widevine L1 > Download certificate
However the Pad 5 does not have a fingerprint ...
Does anybody know how to restore the certificate in this case?

up for this

Download "Activity Launcher" from Playstore and search "fingerprint". Click on the "payment with the fingerprint".
You can download the certificate but it still not working...

Thanks for that. I actually had tried this already, but couldn't find that activity. After your post, I remembered I had debloated some Xiaomi apps with XiaomiADBFastbootTools. But I re-installed some again, and the activity appeared ... (I obviously debloated after that again ...)
"Unfortunately" I couldn't test it, because my Chinese device still has L1 and also Netflix runs on L1, but it is good to know how to download the certificate.
Global devices seems to have L1, but L3 in Netflix. In that case the download won't help, I guess.

This is the activity. I've Pad 5 EEA.

Yes, as said already, I found it.
But keep in mind, if you debloat your device, this activity will be removed as well

I've explained this on the Prime Video HD thread, as this is the same issue.
So far the only solution is to Clear all data (not just the cache, or just uninstall then reinstall) for Netflix app (you will be logged out). Restart the device, then log back in again (you will need to restart before logging back in, else it wouldn't work). This will reset your certification back to L1. Sometimes the downgrade to L3 doesn't happen for days, sometimes it happen through the whole day. Such I don't even know anything else that I change or did not change actually affects anything.

I think you misunderstood this topic. This is not about the Netflix L1 issue (which I don't have fortunately). It is about the Xiaomi L1 certificate. It is quite common that the certificate "disappears" for some reason (a bug probably). Just check all the "Xiaomi phone forums" ... Luckily Miui allows us to download a new certificate. And now we know how to do that on this device too. Thanks to @Felk96

They're the same issue. The Netflix missing L1 happened because the device L1 certificate had gone missing randomly (downgraded to L3), which is not a netflix isolated issue. Netflix doesn't have a L1 certificate, the L1 certificate is on your device, Netflix just read/detect what Widevine level are you at.
Like you said, on xiaomi devices with a fingerprint sensor, we only had to redownload the certificate in the security settings. However in out of the box Global version Pad 5, just by restarting, you will get a new L1 Certificate. I had checked this using DRM Info, whenever your L1 disappears, check DRM Info and it will says L3, do a restart, and check it again with DRMinfo, it'll now show L1 again, until the bug reappears.
The "clear netflix app" I mentioned (as one of many application that checks Widvine L* certificate), was just because of the specific behavior of netflix, that they're stuck with the last lowest certificate the phone had, even if you got your L1 certificate back. Netflix in particular will still assume you're using the last L3 certificate, and won't detect your new L1 until you cleared the app and logging back in. Other streaming apps like PrimeVideo does not behave like that, as long as your current widevine is at level 1 they'll show HD contents again.
As I don't really use other streaming service than those two, I can't really sure that other streaming service would behave like netflix or like prime video. And what I were trying to say is, even if you had your L1 certificate back (from either methods), but the service still won't play HD content back, try clearing app's data.

Android pay

I tried setting up android pay, but can't seem to get it to work. I've tried using root cloak and no device check, but whatever I do, I can't get it to work.

It's not going to if you're rooted. Check the following link (and subsequent forum post):

I'm sure someone will find a work around, but for now you have to do one or the other.
Did you change your DPI? That apparently was my problem.

Indeed. But reports are saying you can temporarily unroot and it'll activate. My G4 isn't rooted and it wouldn't go through with a DPI change.

I've heard mixed things. It's not just adding a card - some people I've heard say that transactions fail if the phone is rooting at the time of purchase even if they got it through the card adding process. Others, I've seen saying that the temporary unroot trick worked.

I was finally able to add a card, I had to add Google Play Services to Root Cloak. I haven't tested it yet but so far so good at least.

I got it to work by disabling Superuser. Once I did that, I could add the card and then enable Superuser again. No problems using Android Pay once Superuser was enabled after getting the card added.
thanks i got it going on my g4 wish i can ha e it working on my g3
You have to rootcloak both Android Pay and Google Play Services.
I tried that on my g3. No go. To let you know im on 4.4.2 on my g3
I finally got it to work with my rooted G4, but I had to rely on Xposed and Rootcloak.
1. Set DPI to the default (640). Unfortunately, Android Pay won't work on anything other than stock DPI. (I went back to stock DPI, but use the App Settings (xposed) app to set my individual apps back to 540) Reboot.
2. Open RootCloak (xposed), and add both Google Pay Services and Android Pay to the block list.
3. Open SuperSu and go to settings. Uncheck "Enable SuperSu". This will take a minute or so to run, but it is reversible (you won't lose root).
4. Clear data for Google Play Services and Android Pay. You will have to set up some of your account info again, and let it re-sync.
5. Open Android Pay and add all your cards. This must be done before re-enabling root.
6. When complete, go back to SuperSu, and re-enable root. Reboot.
These are the steps that worked for me, but YMMV.
I was able to get it working with the exact same steps except I skipped #4 and things turned out fine.
Verified by using the phone to pay at Walgreens.

Device is not certified

So apparently there has been an update and all my devices are now showing up as uncertified in the Play store. Anyone seen a new work around for this while running custom ROMs?
On the bright side it seems devices that you side load apps too, still get updates for the moment.
Stock OOS 5.1.4 UBL is also uncertified :|
Anyone else have this issue on Stock OOS with unlocked BL??
I've never seen my device be certified since I began using this phone. Is it normal for UBL phones to be uncertified even if they aren't rooted?

Hey alessandro,
Does disabling Play Protect have any role in this? I keep it disabled because I side-load many apps.

Sorry, your account has been flagged for piracy, so you'll have to reflash every 7 days else your account won't give up updates.

That's not what it means. Custom ROMs, unlocked boot loaders, rooted devices, etc, can trigger this. Generally custom kernels or Magisk would prevent this. However not anymore . Right now I'm seeing it across 4 accounts, 8 devices, 4 different types of devices, all LOS.
Here is the fix. Just tested this on the latest build of LOS, and it works fine. Direct link to the Magisk module.
Also those directions, say they chose a Pixel fingerprint, I chose the OP 5T fingerprint, it worked just fine. My device is now certified.

(Obviously adding that app to the hide list)

Just bought Mi 10T Pro and need som help

Yesterday I bought a Mi 10T Pro and I have a few questions.
I want to make the MUIU as close as possible to a vanilla Android and also at least Xiaomi apps as possible.
Im going to use Nova Launcher also.
I read somewhere that it was possible to delete Xiaomi's own apps via ADB, is it correct and how do I do?
The reason I don't want to flash a custom rom is they still seem to not work that well yet due to what I have read in the threads.
I will flash a custom rom when:
1) It is possible to port the full working Stock Xiaomi App, so it is possible to film in 8K and 4K 60fps.
GCAM can also be a alternative if it works well in 4k 60fps and 8K, would be great if GCAM could make it possible to use OIS and EIS in 4K 60fps
2) When NFC works 1000%
3) When fingerprint works to 100%
4) Banking apps, netflix must work.
Well until others can assist u to find one, kindly use debloater tool from https://github.com/Szaki/XiaomiADBFastbootTools , and use the theme Google Pixel v12.

Enabling Camera2 requires TWRP which I believe requires an unlocked bootloader and root access. All the other also require an unlocked bootloader which may stop some banking apps from working (especially Google pay)
Debloat tool is working without unlocking bootloader.
I was using this tool while my bootloader was locked for debloating.
Also unlocking bootloader doesn't mean you can't use banking apps. Magisk hide is doing pretty good job hiding root.

Camera2api already enabled if i'm not mistaken. I have a version of Gcam working just fine with few minor bugs. Miui 12 is not as bad as it sounds when you have control of it. It has plenty of features you won't find on, say, lineage (I use one on my other device). I have 4.5gb free ram with few apps unoptimized.

Yes, you're right, cameras api is enabled and most gcams work out-of-the-box but with mixed success. Bsg gcam seems to be the best working gcam for mi 10t (pro) for now

Question Transfer App Data (without root)

Hi all,
I have a Huawei P20 pro (not rooted), from which I want to transfer all data to my new Poco F3, including app data (so that I don't have to enter any logging/prudential.
I.E. WhatsApp, Banking app, Amazon, etc).
What's the best way to do this?
Using PC or just apps, I'm happy with either.
Google search shows many options but under all someone says it doesn't work or didn't transfer app data.
Thank you in advance.
Pretty sure you need root and app called swish
Try clone my phone app...

Like you can't lol... Adb root is probably disabled , /data/data is unreadable without root - no app you will download can acces it.
Read up on shizuku , maybe it's elevated access can reach /data/data but I seriously doubt it - it would probably have to be a custom module that spoofs itself as the target apps.
Is bootloader unlocked ? There are guys out there offering bootloader unlock for 30$ or less. If money isn't an issue and you really need data that's the only way
I forgot to mention but have you already tried huawei backup/clone app? Maybe OEM app for cloning actually has access to /data/data

What do you guys think of Mi Mover app?
I understand now (thanks to Rstment ^m^) that I cannot move app data, however this app claims it can move general data from storage and app (without app data).
Does it move files as it is on the old phone or moves all pictures in one folder, etc,?

Use app on huawei phone and follow instructions, or maybe it's as you say... Regardless try that first as it's most likely to be able to reach data , if no I'm pretty sure poco f3 already has an app for migrating

Question Bootloader / Debloat / Pi-Hole vs SafetyNet (regarding the STOCK ROM)

Even a bit of searching won't help now but since...
crDroid doesn't have the CORRECT Dolby Atmos module needed, which effectively requires MIUI...
Xiaomi.eu still has few concerning bugs for real life (ringtone cannot be changed, for instance)...
I read something about Pixel Extended being problematic enough to brick someone's previous Poco F3...
I flashed the stock ROM again and tried to debloat it, to a success I'm proud of, but of course, SafetyNet complains about unlocked bootloaders. Except here's the problem: Locking the bootloader with a debloated stock ROM is an effective hardbrick, right?
If not, I may as well lock it, right? Assuming I will never update MIUI that is......or it's Universal Android Debloater to the rescue...
If yes, this leaves me with two paths:
Clean all and lock this time, as in reflash the stock ROM again, but with the bootloader locked, but let a Pi-Hole handle the adblocking
Stay on a custom MIUI ROM for the duration of the device, without the bugs, assuming it's SafetyNet-OK (I'd ask someone to test MIUI Pulse Extended 13 with a secondary device first)
But I'm asking this for those who rather need everything working as intended, including a SafetyNet CTS TRUE, which means stock ROM AND locked bootloader:
Will a Pi-Hole work for those CTS TRUE who want to block the ads in Xiaomi's own system apps? Or that's it and custom ROMs all the way?
Explaining what a Pi-Hole is is beyond the scope of the forums I believe, let alone this device's forum, but tl;dr I'm not giving up the fight for a proper Atmos, no ads and my games running properly AND SafetyNet OK, even if it means a discrete Raspberry Pi handling this mess of a "MIUI chaos" instead of a custom ROM.
Trying to debloat the stock is an option if it works with locked bootloaders, but I'm not sure if that will trip SafetyNet, since I didn't dare relock it to check. Though few searches imply locked-bootloader debloat and SafetyNet STILL OK, not sure if BASIC only or CTS TRUE. But this brings me to the Pi-Hole part again...
Or I should grab a Sony Xperia 1 IV at this point? (ahead of time)
I once use stock miui (locked) then debloat, lastly using blokada for all the adblock that I need. Use persintent vpn mode to make sure always on adblock and choose xiaomi ad block on blokada option
Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!111
I use Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM (Stable, MIUI 13, Android 12).
I use AdAway to block ads system-wide. (Available on F-Droid!)
And I use Magisk + Magisk Module "Universal SafetyNet Fix" for Root, Mods and passing SafetyNet.
I use Xiaomi.eu because Dolby Atmos and MIUI Camera are also important to me.
So... you don't have to lock the bootloader. You CAN pass SafetyNet!
You might have to clear data of Google Play Store & Google Play Services.
If "Netflix" shows up, SafetyNet is passing.
But if you do lock your bootloader, you should be careful and factory reset, and only debloat AFTER the bootloader-lock.
BTW, here's proof that SafetyNet works. This will also work on many other Custom ROMs:
