I tried setting up android pay, but can't seem to get it to work. I've tried using root cloak and no device check, but whatever I do, I can't get it to work.

It's not going to if you're rooted. Check the following link (and subsequent forum post):

I'm sure someone will find a work around, but for now you have to do one or the other.
Did you change your DPI? That apparently was my problem.

Indeed. But reports are saying you can temporarily unroot and it'll activate. My G4 isn't rooted and it wouldn't go through with a DPI change.

I've heard mixed things. It's not just adding a card - some people I've heard say that transactions fail if the phone is rooting at the time of purchase even if they got it through the card adding process. Others, I've seen saying that the temporary unroot trick worked.

I was finally able to add a card, I had to add Google Play Services to Root Cloak. I haven't tested it yet but so far so good at least.

I got it to work by disabling Superuser. Once I did that, I could add the card and then enable Superuser again. No problems using Android Pay once Superuser was enabled after getting the card added.
thanks i got it going on my g4 wish i can ha e it working on my g3
You have to rootcloak both Android Pay and Google Play Services.
I tried that on my g3. No go. To let you know im on 4.4.2 on my g3
I finally got it to work with my rooted G4, but I had to rely on Xposed and Rootcloak.
1. Set DPI to the default (640). Unfortunately, Android Pay won't work on anything other than stock DPI. (I went back to stock DPI, but use the App Settings (xposed) app to set my individual apps back to 540) Reboot.
2. Open RootCloak (xposed), and add both Google Pay Services and Android Pay to the block list.
3. Open SuperSu and go to settings. Uncheck "Enable SuperSu". This will take a minute or so to run, but it is reversible (you won't lose root).
4. Clear data for Google Play Services and Android Pay. You will have to set up some of your account info again, and let it re-sync.
5. Open Android Pay and add all your cards. This must be done before re-enabling root.
6. When complete, go back to SuperSu, and re-enable root. Reboot.
These are the steps that worked for me, but YMMV.
I was able to get it working with the exact same steps except I skipped #4 and things turned out fine.
Verified by using the phone to pay at Walgreens.

Hi,
I installed Titanium Backup Free version and tried to use it but it did not work.
I use Gingerbread XXJVS with Semaphore Kernel 1.7.0 (2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVS-CL565837) with Superuser 2.3.6.1 and busybox 1.16.2android minimal.
I made backups with batch processing and option "all apps+system data" (I translate from polish so just to let you know it is the 3rd option in backup section) and then uninstalled the backed up SocialHub 1.00.10102 system app.
When I try to restore it the popup message "Restoring app+data" appears and it does not go any further.
- It does not work neither with v4.4.0 nor the version prior to that (i updated in the meantime).
- It does not work with Superuser 3.0.
- Enabling /system as rw in Terminal Emulator did not help (i found this suggestion somewhere else)
- I cannot change the Settings-> Apps processing mode as suggested here by the author of TiB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=92719462&pp=25&page=2
"Try setting the Apps processing mode to "AUTO, Indirect" and enable USB debugging in your phone settings. "
It is grayed and marked as [PRO only]. I do have USB debugging on.
- Both Busybox and sqlite are internal from TiB. changing option to use system's busybox did not change anything.
Any suggestions how to solve that, please?
Hi,
Yes indeed, it appears you have tried pretty much everything already. This seems to happen on a few devices
If you reboot your device afterwards, does the system app appear as installed or not?
PS: you might want to contact the Titanium Track support directly, at support -=at=- titaniumtrack.com

I assume you tried the "AUTO, Indirect" mode already, right?
Is the app present after a reboot or not?
I've tried everything...

Hmm, this is strange indeed.
Yes, the Titanium Track web site is not ready yet, but you can send an e-mail to support -=at=- titaniumtrack.com
Ok I sent an e-mail there with info from this thread.
It might be worth to add a switchable logging/debug feature to the app to see where it gets stuck.
Today I tried to restore with fresh TiB 4.5.1 and new su 3.0.2 without and with /system as rw. Still nothing.
Has anyone from titaniumtrack.com received e-mail?
My titanium backup pro hangs the same way when trying to restore the motoblur Homescreen app ... droid 3
no idea how the app was removed in the first place when i simply just froze it -.-
TiB 4.5.2 + su 3.0.4 still nothing
The same with latest TB Pro in my Samsung Galaxy S I9000.
Damn, why did I buy this app! I can't restore my backups now!
I contacted the developer the day I made the previous post and he haven't replied yet.
What an awesome support!
I wrote him a week ago and got response. They test it on sgs2. Which rom and kernel do you use?
I want to flash newer if that is worth it but first I want to ensure TiB works properly.
I've the same issue on a Samsung/Droid Charge. Just got this from TiB support:
We're sorry, system apps are critical and should not be removed in the first place. Some apps are tightly ROM bounded, while others are dependent on other system entities which could break things when they are removed. We have already provided the warning in the preferences that you will be held responsible of your own actions upon removing the system apps and we will not provide support for restoring them back. In most cases like this, you will have to reflash your ROM or restore your nandroid backup (you must always keep a nandroid handy).

FWIW I emailed them earlier today, so they did reply to the email fairly quickly.
Great answer.. Should never had bought the pro license. That's a really lame excuse because I used it on other phones and never had any of those problems with system apps.

this happens to me intermittently whether its a system app or not. using 5.5.1.1, and i did change ROMs
is it a bad back up or system app?

But there is a much easier way to do this I've been using since I rooted.
Download: hide my root from the market

And simply hide the root when you need to. Works for any app you'd want to temporary excuse root from your system for.

You can do this with SuperSU to enable/disable root and allow root access to apps all in one.
Market Link:

Simpler solution.Just go in your /system/app folder and rename Superuser.apk to any other name. You will still have your root but app that perform check wont be able to tell.
This works for Time Warner app,it wont let you watch live tv if youre rooted. After you rename your superuser.apk you will be able to watch live tv.Im sure it works for other apps too.
Renaming the superuser.apk worked for me! Thx :good:
But I wonder if there is any app out there which can do it automatically ...
I have tried these apps, but without success
Hide my Root (by Amphoras)
htt___ps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amphoras.hidemyroot
Temp Root Remover JB+ (by ZachsAndroidApp)
htt___ps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zachspong.temprootremovejb&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLnphY2hzcG9uZy50ZW1wcm9vdHJlbW92ZWpiIl0
Both have been proven to not rename the Superuser.apk.
So Whatchever has still recognized the root.
I have forgotten to mention that I am using Android 4.1.2 (Stock ROM).
I use Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, works great. One click root bypass and one click to restore.
I tried this app, but my root is still detected :/
When I browse to /system/app/ the superuser.apk is still there and not renamed or s.th. ...
EDIT:
I found this script here, it works like a charm THANKS!!!

Downloaded Hide My Root from the Play Store. Installed, followed instructions, and worked like a charm. Android Pay now works on my rooted Nexus 6. To steal from McD's, Lovin' it!!

The "turn off" button on my Samsung Savant with Android 4.4.2 just worked
The T-Mobile My Account app on my Samsung Savant with Android 4.4.2 was using more battery than any other app. I pressed the turn off button under "settings", "application manager", accepted the warning message that doing so might break things, and it just worked. T-Mobile My Account has not come back when I restarted my phone. (It is not obvious how to turn the app back on, but I have not looked hard.) I can still connect to the T-Mobile network. My phone's battery life seems considerably longer. Battery use when the phone is idle and in airplane mode with the WiFi radio also turned off is now under 0.5% per hour. I did not root my phone. I can check my data usage by placing a call to #WEB# (#932#) now that the app is no longer displaying that information for me. I am -- so far -- delighted with the results of removing this app. I am not an expert on T-Mobile internals-- so I do not know who should expect to have an experience similar to mine.
I had this app disabled in my note 4 & then needed to re-enable it for a day when my alt choice app had a problem until it was updated, now no matter what I do the disable button is greyed out. not rooted & wasn't when it worked the first time. Suggestions?
If you are rooted, then rename the .apk to something else (like ....apk.bak).
Terminal Emuator + NoBloat Free work best for me coz of the "Backup & Uninstall" option. With that i remove all those bloatware apps especially KNOX Files & still back them up thou u can delete permanently .

This worked for my non-rooted Galaxy S6 Edge running 5.1.1. Download Debloater to your PC. Plug in your device from your PC. Select Filter, and type "com.tmobile.pr.mytmobile," or any derivation of the name (i.e., "my"). Select the file and check the box. Click on Apply. You're all set. It is DISABLED and hidden. I watched the icon in the notification bar disappear as soon as I clicked Apply. It hasn't returned. If you need it later, you can uncheck the box and click Apply. If I recall correctly, the Verizon versions of the R800 (Might be the R800x) are somewhat locked down so I doubt you can do much at all 'easily' to be honest.
At the very least, without ROOT access you'll be unable to write to the SYSTEM partition which is what you will likely need to get access to in order to remove the activation message - it'll likely be an application that simply needs deleting. You can definitely get ROOT access on the R800x's though, I think it requires flashing different firmware using flashtool.
I would however stress to not let this particular device put a 'downer' on Android devices for you as a whole - there are only a small few devices locked down like this and the rest of the R800's aren't as restricted. You need an R800i lol.
I've tried to hunt down info to no avail on rooting this model. Every root too I've used has shown no results. The device does not change.

You can definitely root the R800x on 2.3.4. I've done it on 3 phones.
I posted this thread a while back to inform others of an easy root method using the Cydia Impactor Root tool .... ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55573098 ). You won't see any visible changes after running the root tool (other than seeing su binary placed in system/xbin folder after rooting), but you can install Supersu to manage root applications after you inject the root with Cydia.
You may need to install an older version of Supersu after running Cydia Impactor Root, as I have not tested the newest version of Supersu from the Play Store. You can grab an older Supersu apk from here: ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53636923&postcount=2 ) which I believe would work if the newest Supersu doesn't work. ( Thanks goes to XDA member DocHoliday77 for the supersu apk and of course to Chainfire).
After you gain root, then check out post #7 in this thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55290171 ) to see how to easily install CWM / Clockwork Mod Recovery.
.... (FYI, there's actually another root method called Eroot that also works on the R800x on 2.3.4 and 2.3.3....it's discussed in the same thread above where I said to see how to install CWM .... but I prefer Cydia Impactor method instead).
I hope this helps.

Sorry, I had to.
So, I turned this phone on after about a year since this last post and I decided to give it another go. Finally got it using the Cydia Impact method. BusyBox refuses to work but file browsers are allowing root access to delete the bloatware apps so thats good. Thanks for the help!
Hey guys,
Big thanks to @autoprime for mentioning this info on this in the general G4 forum. Figured I'd sum up the steps and repost in our sub-forum for anybody who may be struggling.
If you're like me, you're waiting on root and don't want to accidentally take that new OTA update that was pushed out about a week ago. This OTA has been found to prevent rolling back to previous versions of android, and may also block some/many of the root methods that the developers are preparing to release to us.
If System Update is constantly bugging you to update, follow the directions below:
1) Enable USB Debugging
-Go to About phone and tap on Build number 10 times to enable Dev Options
-Enter Developer Options and enable USB Debugging
2) Download and Install the Debloater tool (this happens on your computer)
-Windows http://rootjunkysdl.com/getdownload.php?file=Gates/DeBloater/Debloater-setup-v3.85.exe
-OSX http://rootjunkysdl.com/getdownload.php?file=Gates/DeBloater/Debloater.v.3.85.dmg
3) Connect your phone via USB. Make sure to install any drivers needed
4) Watch for pop up requesting ADB Access on your phone
5) Launch the Debloater tool
6) Select OK on the popup

7) Click the top left button
8) Find LGDMSClient.apk and put a checkmark next to it. Then select Apply at the top
Congratulations! You no longer have to worry about pocket-updating your G4 and not being able to root down the road!

I would open a new thread on that. Please include a bit more detail on what it is and I'll be happy to take a look

LGDMSClient.apk is all that needs to be blocked? I've read other people saying you need to block like 3 or 4 other things too. I'm not doubting you, just wondering why others are blocking more things.
thanks
thanks too many works

All I can say is this has worked for me as well as others. At the same time, some people required more apks to be disabled. If you want to disable more than the file specified, check the last line in my original post as I've added a link to more items you can disable.

Different carriers seem to have different packages for sneaking the update on to the phones. Blocking one file may be all you need to prevent updates on Verizon phones. It took at least three on AT&T. Possibly four on Sprint. We haven't found all the files to prevent US Cellular from updating yet.
Please post your results so we can prevent forced updates for everyone!
sidebar - it would also be useful to disable DTIgnite as this is a bloatware downloading application installed by the carrier....
nice method! thanks for sharing!
My phone just came today and I don't want to screw this up. Should I block the updates before I even activate the phone, or do I have to activate the phone first?

Most people aren't getting the updates over cellular data, only WiFi. Keep WiFi off and you shouldn't get updates.
On my AT&T phone, I activated it, and then did a factory reset, then finished the setup on cellular data without linking my Google account. I didn't agree to the optional EULAs, and then I blocked the files in this thread.

i had my phone for a week or two before the update came out. About a week after that I disabled the update. (so my phone was activated and I had agreed to that LG agreement). Feel free to start using your phone, just be careful if you get a popup asking to update.
The update downloaded somehow, and it's asking me when I want to install it. Can I factory reset the phone to delete the download?
