But there is a much easier way to do this I've been using since I rooted.
Download: hide my root from the market
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amphoras.hidemyroot
And simply hide the root when you need to. Works for any app you'd want to temporary excuse root from your system for.

You can do this with SuperSU to enable/disable root and allow root access to apps all in one.
Market Link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDMsImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5zdXBlcnN1Il0.
XDA Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
Simpler solution.Just go in your /system/app folder and rename Superuser.apk to any other name. You will still have your root but app that perform check wont be able to tell.
This works for Time Warner app,it wont let you watch live tv if youre rooted. After you rename your superuser.apk you will be able to watch live tv.Im sure it works for other apps too.
Renaming the superuser.apk worked for me! Thx :good:
But I wonder if there is any app out there which can do it automatically ...
I have tried these apps, but without success
Hide my Root (by Amphoras)
htt___ps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amphoras.hidemyroot
Temp Root Remover JB+ (by ZachsAndroidApp)
htt___ps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zachspong.temprootremovejb&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLnphY2hzcG9uZy50ZW1wcm9vdHJlbW92ZWpiIl0
Both have been proven to not rename the Superuser.apk.
So Whatchever has still recognized the root.
I have forgotten to mention that I am using Android 4.1.2 (Stock ROM).
I use Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, works great. One click root bypass and one click to restore.
I tried this app, but my root is still detected :/
When I browse to /system/app/ the superuser.apk is still there and not renamed or s.th. ...
EDIT:
I found this script here, it works like a charm THANKS!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32678275&postcount=5
Downloaded Hide My Root from the Play Store. Installed, followed instructions, and worked like a charm. Android Pay now works on my rooted Nexus 6. To steal from McD's, Lovin' it!!

The only way to properly hide root nowadays is to root with magisk. Make sure you select Pokemon go in the magisk hide section

I must have other issues seeing as I'm rooted with Magisk. I'm on marshmallow no root now and I've also turned USB debugging off. Perhaps it's detecting old files or that my boot loader is unlocked!?

SuperSU performs the usual duties of managing superuser access, unroot with a few added benefits, including logging superuser access, temporary, and it even works in recovery. Here is the complete list of features:
Features:
Superuser prompt superuser access access logging superuser access notifications unroot per-app notification configuration Temporary deep process-detection (no strangers) works in recovery (no more memory access error) will work if Android is not booting properly Works with non-standard shell locations trusts ADB connection is always in the Ghost Mode Wake-on prompt
The Pro version also offers:
OTA Survival mode (no guarantee) Full color-coded command logging content (input / output / error) per app logging configuration per-app user override PIN protection

Hi @ all
System apps like this Cineese SU App can be uninstalled with "root App Deleter".Found on market. You need root permissions too.
just install super su and update the binaries.. them it will promp to unistall the other ones.. it worked for me..
It works, but I have a small issue: I can't remove the Superuser application the rooting kit provides. I install SuperSu, it prompts me to update the binaries, I do, and it tells me "installation successful", but it doesn't ask me to remove the other superuser applications. So I am stuck with the Chinese/Korean Superuser application. Any thoughts on this?

In the same situation as you with the same software version, have tried every possible root script/one click method out there and none work. Came across kingroot which is supposed to work but i don't trust it
why not? could it brick the device? no feedback about it?
update: just tried it. didn't work
Ahhhh damn! Reason I didn't try it was because people were saying that they weren't sure if it rooted the phone in a tidy way and also weren't sure if it was sending personal info to the app makers...looks like we will have to wait for now eh!

How odd! I was having the same issue as you and tried every single tool out there about 5 times each on Windows 7 and nothing worked! I then decided to try on a Windows 10 machine using the following root script:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
And all worked fine!!! Rooted right away...so I suggest you try creating a Windows 10 Virtual Machine and give that a go
confirmed sheppy?

Is there a way to get root access for version 13 right now or should I wait?

Go into Settings - About Phone .. And tap build number about 10 times real fast to enable Developer Options. Go into Dev options and enable Root for apps &/or ADB. Your other option is to flash a SuperSU.zip from recovery, but that's not needed with the built-in Root already there

After flashing addonsu-arm-signed.zip, Root Access can be set to Apps and ADB but, bellow, "Manage root access" is grayed out
Apps say device is not rooted.
Samsung S4 Mini (serrano3gxx)
Then don't flash that zip, Root is already built-in

If I don't flash that zip only ADB is selectable
Try SuperSU.zip v2.46 instead

bootloop... now what
Wooow.. Might need to try the newest SuperSU zip instead. Is your ROM bad? I'm thinking your ROM may not be on par somewhere, but make sure these Root flashes are new ROM installs as you could possibly have leftover files somewhere causing a conflict.
Edit: Oh! If you have SuperSU already installed, Root management is accessed in Settings - SuperSU or SuperSU.apk

I recently flashed Lineage OS 13 to my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (GT-P5110). Got developer options but "Manage Root Accesses" is greyed out and root checks show device is not rooted.
I'd be grateful for any assistance or info.
Thanks in advance.

No.
I installed "lineage-13.0_espressowifi-6.0.1-20190729-1933.zip" from "https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=6006931924117927170".
Everything works well, just no root access.
I can live without it, but like to have it handy just in case.
The link "espressowifi (boots on P3110, P3113, P5110 & P5113)" in https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-2-unified/rom-cyanogenmod-13-cm13-0-t3303798 does not work.
Gets this:-

Thanks for the tip. I thought all that kind of stuff had to be device specific.
I did find this: lineage-13.0-espressowifi-userdebug-kernel-20190303.zip, but I'm not sure if it will do the job.
Android Andi recommends using Magisk.
Will check them all out when I have time to flash and restore.
