Go into Settings - About Phone .. And tap build number about 10 times real fast to enable Developer Options. Go into Dev options and enable Root for apps &/or ADB. Your other option is to flash a SuperSU.zip from recovery, but that's not needed with the built-in Root already there

After flashing addonsu-arm-signed.zip, Root Access can be set to Apps and ADB but, bellow, "Manage root access" is grayed out
Apps say device is not rooted.
Samsung S4 Mini (serrano3gxx)
Then don't flash that zip, Root is already built-in

bootloop... now what
Wooow.. Might need to try the newest SuperSU zip instead. Is your ROM bad? I'm thinking your ROM may not be on par somewhere, but make sure these Root flashes are new ROM installs as you could possibly have leftover files somewhere causing a conflict.
Edit: Oh! If you have SuperSU already installed, Root management is accessed in Settings - SuperSU or SuperSU.apk

I recently flashed Lineage OS 13 to my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (GT-P5110). Got developer options but "Manage Root Accesses" is greyed out and root checks show device is not rooted.
I'd be grateful for any assistance or info.
Thanks in advance.

No.
I installed "lineage-13.0_espressowifi-6.0.1-20190729-1933.zip" from "https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=6006931924117927170".
Everything works well, just no root access.
I can live without it, but like to have it handy just in case.

Thanks for the tip. I thought all that kind of stuff had to be device specific.
I did find this: lineage-13.0-espressowifi-userdebug-kernel-20190303.zip, but I'm not sure if it will do the job.
Android Andi recommends using Magisk.
Will check them all out when I have time to flash and restore.

But there is a much easier way to do this I've been using since I rooted.
Download: hide my root from the market
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amphoras.hidemyroot
And simply hide the root when you need to. Works for any app you'd want to temporary excuse root from your system for.

You can do this with SuperSU to enable/disable root and allow root access to apps all in one.
Market Link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDMsImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5zdXBlcnN1Il0.
XDA Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
Simpler solution.Just go in your /system/app folder and rename Superuser.apk to any other name. You will still have your root but app that perform check wont be able to tell.
This works for Time Warner app,it wont let you watch live tv if youre rooted. After you rename your superuser.apk you will be able to watch live tv.Im sure it works for other apps too.
Renaming the superuser.apk worked for me! Thx :good:
But I wonder if there is any app out there which can do it automatically ...
I have tried these apps, but without success
Hide my Root (by Amphoras)
htt___ps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amphoras.hidemyroot
Temp Root Remover JB+ (by ZachsAndroidApp)
htt___ps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zachspong.temprootremovejb&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLnphY2hzcG9uZy50ZW1wcm9vdHJlbW92ZWpiIl0
Both have been proven to not rename the Superuser.apk.
So Whatchever has still recognized the root.
I have forgotten to mention that I am using Android 4.1.2 (Stock ROM).
I use Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, works great. One click root bypass and one click to restore.
I tried this app, but my root is still detected :/
When I browse to /system/app/ the superuser.apk is still there and not renamed or s.th. ...
EDIT:
I found this script here, it works like a charm THANKS!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32678275&postcount=5
Downloaded Hide My Root from the Play Store. Installed, followed instructions, and worked like a charm. Android Pay now works on my rooted Nexus 6. To steal from McD's, Lovin' it!!

For anyone still here magisk has the ability to hide root built into it. You can enable it in its settings and then choose which app to hide root from. Works with snapchat.

The only way to properly hide root nowadays is to root with magisk. Make sure you select Pokemon go in the magisk hide section

Have you problem with the new SuperSU?
I have read this: "Be careful with that version of SuperSU. It is not yet stable (on the N4 at least). There is an issue where for some reason (and we haven't figured it out yet), you lose root, and the daemonsu process starts eating up ~70%+ of your CPU time. Battery dies pretty quick. "

3.- flash OTA zip
4.- flash superSU

Btw... that screenshot is completely different than the debugging option page you showed with the root options.... So perhaps I don't understand your question as asked. Are you looking to HAVE the root options in developer options?

Right. You don't need root options in the rom you are on. That option is only in cm/aosp based roms where root is built into the rom.
You won't get that option in development settings on a sense based rom. As long as supersu binaries are flashed and supersu is installed you will configure any root settings via the supersu app.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
^ What he said. Use supersu app, only aosp roms like cm, or stock android have the root option in dev menu. If you're rooted with a custom recovery but don't have supersu app, install it via cwm/twrp (whichever you are using). You can find it on the forum here. It'll be a zip.
Hi there guys! I own a rooted Nexus 5X. I currently received the OTA update for Nougat and would like to do the update. My question is: how can I do this update without reverting everything to stock first? I don't mind loosing root access, I would just like to update using the OTA update without having to revert everything back to stock and then doing it. Can you guys share a little knowledge here? I have TWRP installed
I think you can maybe sideload the OTA or flash with Flashify or something. It's really recommended to do do a clean install with a factory image and then reroot, especially if you're coming from M. Takes no effort to just back up your SD card with your PC
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Download FlashFire app, go to official page for Nexus 5X OTA packages, download it(around 1.1GB) and flash it as factory image through FlashFire app.
Untick flash recovery.
After that just flash SuperSU zip from twrp and you're rooted.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Using FlashFire Pro, the previously downloaded OTA,(approx. 50 MB), when FlashFire opened, it detected the OTA download and I simply hit the Flash button and it performed flawlessly. Preserved root and recovery.

It didn't work for me either at first, then I checked the "Restore boot and recovery images" option (The "Mount /system read/write" option was already checked, so I left it). Once I checked that option and flashed the OTA update (NRD90S downloaded from Google), it installed just fine.

I had Xposed installed with a few modules, like mock mock location, root cloak and other two. What I just did was uncheck the flash recovery and left all the things FlashFire told me to. Had no problems at all I believe there's not an Xposed flasher for 7.0 am I right? Still doesn't work?

All Android 10 launch devices will no longer have the 2-button gesture navigation that was introduced in Android 9 Pie. If you cared for this and want it back on your Pixel 4, simply flash the Magisk Module attached to this thread and reboot. You should see the 2-button navigation option in Settings > System > Gestures > System navigation.
This Magisk Module simply adds the 2-button navigation overlay from the Pixel 3. No changes are made to any system files or properties.
Thank you so much. Your work makes the Pixel very AWESOME [emoji7]

Cool man. Thanks for giving us another option. I never tried this but currently getting used to it. Only time will tell if I can break my old habits. Lol.

Gotta love root I swear lol
Love this mod. Thanks!
Thank you for this. Was the one thing I was missing.
I really enjoy this mod. Has anyone had problems with it working on the January build? After flashing, I no longer have the option for 2 button.

One of my favorite mods. Not working here on a fresh install of the January build.
Darn Google!

Here's an updated one. Uninstall the old one, from the OP, because I probably used a different ID.

I just went back into settings and navigation, set it to 2 button and worked fine after taking January update.
Was set back to gesture mod on fresh boot.

Just download from op, in Magisk go to modules, press the + sign at the bottom center, then just find the zip in your downloads folder and select it.

 haha thanks, but my question wasn't how to install it, but Magik modules belong in the Magisk Manager, this way Version tracking etc is simpler and in case newer Magisk versions require a new module template etc :highfive:

Ah, sorry about that. Just reading it sounded like you were not sure how to install.

And you need to be rooted right? I don't think Verizon has their bootloader's unlocked
