so i just got my SM-900W8 for Wind mobile today, had to buy it with two months service, but then was able to send half of the money i put down on that service over to my old account, switch the sims, and now i have my same old number and plan on my new note, and i'm only out an extra 20 bucks (still bull****, i know, but i wanted it today and wasn't going to deal with waiting, for any reason.... maybe too impatient lol)
anyways, after i bought it, i stopped by the bell store and asked what model they sell... they showed me the box and it was the exact same model number... SM-900W8. i then went to rogers, same thing, and telus i presume will be the same since bell and telus share towers etc
so, my question is, if i unlocked my phone, could i simply go get a bell rogers or telus sim card, and throw it in, and have it work? the region issue is a non-starter for two reasons - first i didn't even have that region lock sticker on my box, but second, the robelus sims would all be the same region, so it shouldn't matter in the least. what i'm wondering is, would the bands be the same, or at least some of the same to the point of working? i know that wind uses AWS bands and robelus does not, but since they are the same model number, is it possible that they have radios that are compatible with all four carriers in this phone?
if not, can someone explain to me how to find out what networks this phone would work on? i mean, it sounds like people are unlocking their tmobile phone and using it on att, and from what i remembered, att is not aws, and i thought that rogers and att phones worked together... ARGG what gives here?
also, are the tmo phones the same model number as mine? or did they use different phones than wind this time around?
finally, if i'm looking to root this or put a rom on this, am i looking for the tmo roms and other stuff like i was with my sgs3 or am i looking for something else with this new phone? where can i find this info... i haven't been able to find much about this yet, i guess not many people have this phone on wind yet

Thanks for the answer, but I don't know for sure what bands the big three use, can anyone tell me if this phone will work on those big networks?
Also, any answers to my other questions ?
Rogers, Bell and Wind all use the SM-900W8 variant probably with just a different modem / QCP file.
So does this mean that there is some chance of, in the future when things get cracked, of flashing a new modem etc onto it our something

to answer my own question, yes, i unlocked my n900w8 from wind with an unlock code, and i was able to see whatever networks were attached to the sim i put in it. rogers, bell, telus, koodo, virgin, fido, wind, probabaly chatr if you really wanted to use this device on that dumb ass carrier
so yes, you dont even need to flash other modems... it just works
i did try flashing bell/rogers/puerto rico roms on my device and all had the same result, it all worked, and it all worked fine
Samsung galaxy note 3 SM-N900W8 from videotron (canada)
Hi, i have a Samsung galaxy note 3 SM-N900W8 from videotron (canada) and i unlock with a code to use it with fido and the phone show only the 3G internet, is there a way to enable the LTE? when i go to setting mobile network, network mode show me only 3 options WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) or WCDMA only or GSM only. I tried to root the device to do like this forum said ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2489766 ) and when i root it it says pass but it stuck on rebooting and something red is written on the next line and samsung logo is there too. anyone can help me to enable the LTE network?
Got scammed today. Bought a used Find 7a but it only work with AT&T. Put my Tmobile sim card has no network signal.
I thought this phone came unlocked. Does anyone know how to unlock it ?
And you did check to see that apn settings are correct, right? Some earlier versions had to have a setting changed to work with tmobile. I use tmobile with no problems
I did check the APN, seems there. But it saids no sim detected or something.
My main question is no company here in LA carry this phone include the big one like ATT and Tmobile. This Oppo is import from China.
I will assume that this is unlocked. Especially my friend stick in his AT&T sim card to my Oppo and it works like a charm. It shows LTE.
If that works with ATT, why would Tmobile not working ? Just I have no clue.

Do you know which version you have? x9000, x9005, x9006, or x9007?
You need the x9006 version AND the US version.
oh that I don't know. To be honest I don't know much about this phone. Except the Oneplus one. I got it for my daughter.
So if AT&T works, does it mean I got the x9006 and the US version ?
Cause right now phone don't detect my t-mobile sim.

From what I can tell, the European has a couple of bands that At&t may use, but not tmobile. Try wiping from recovery. Or maybe even an AOSP rom to see if it's ColorOS. Another option would be to try flashing a different modem
Wrong choice getting this phone. I am going to sell it today lol.

Just wondering if it works on all carriers or should I wait for the unlocked version ? Thanks.

I have a vzw line. Popped in vzw sim. Then popped in my tmo sim. Data and calls work. Speed was faster on tmo sim though.
Sent from my SM-G955U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
mine works well but i cant get video or any of the tmobile **** like that to work
I just picked up a Verizon S8+ (i had a T-Mobile one but just returned it) and i popped a T-Mobile SIM Card in it and i got a message saying "This is not a Verizon Wireless SIM Card" and it wouldn't let me use it. I thought it was supposed to be unlocked??
It is unlocked. After swapping Sims the only change you got to make is change preffered network mode from LTE/CDMA to LTE/GSM oh and go to APN and choose your new sim card apn. And thats it. Ive tried all carriers on my Verizon S8+ with no problems

What probably will not work on any carrier phone other than TMobile will be WiFi calling when using TM SIM.
Hey! I need to know if I buy a s8+ in Verizon, I will can use in Chile with my local carrier? I can read that you don't have problems changing the carrier in USA, will be the same if I use the phone with a Chilean Sim? Thanks!
I have a Verizon S8+ on AT&T unlimited service and it works perfectly. So you'll be good for Tmo as well. I have no clue about Sprint tho.
I have a Verizon S8+ on att and it works great. Does anyone know if I get HD Voice with this combination ?
Verizon unlocked S8 plus on T-Mobile working flawlessly for me
Verizon unlocked and works very well in France on the Orange network.
When I got my VZW S8+ I popped in my tmo sim first thing. It worked flawlessly out of the box. I didnt even have to add any APN settings as all of the tmo settings were built in. Awesome job sammy!
What about video call ect I'm having issues getting that **** to work is u pres *#77467# it says false on all the **** why won't the ims register that controls all that
I have an issue with s8+ using AT&T sim. The issue is that the phone shows a plus sign in front of my all incoming calls treating them as international calls. Does anyone know the solution?
The phones are completely unlocked, what you need to do is look up the VPN settings that T-mobile, or at&t use for their phones and set them accordingly. Though some functions might not work with non-Verizon carriers through changing these functions. (messages, video calling, etc..)
Thank you all. I bought the s8+ from Verizon out right because I wasnt sure if I was going to stick with them. And it looks like I am moving to t-Mobile this month, I was going to look into flashing the firmware, but I was worried since I used Samsung pay like crazy. So I am fine with just disabling the verizon apps and going from there.
Anyone know if the phone will still get updates if I swap in a T-Mobile SIM, or a Verizon-compatible one from Straight Talk while still on the VZW firmware?

It will if you use the VZW software update assistant. I've done 2 updates this way on my Verizon S8+ with my tmo sim in there. Works fine.

Sounds good. Do you know of the Verizon phone has all the bands of the T-Mobile version?
Fully work - no. Things like HD calling and wifi calling wont work without t-mobile software.
There are a ton of entries on XDA about sim unlocking the T-Mobile and Sprint versions of the Z2 force, but none of them confirm once unlocked if they've used it on Verizon.
T-Mobile's page confirms their version utilizes bands 2,4 and 13 - all of which are Verizon's LTE bands.
Can anyone confirm?
I'm looking to buy this to replace a work phone on Verizon. My personal account is with T-Mobile, so would be very nice if I could just flip sims whenever I'd like. Appreciate in advance the responses!
(unlock T-Mobile bootloader, sim unlock, root and put a custom rom with safety net passes)
then type this on google and try.

Oh if this works I would be so happy to switch back to VZW. Anyone attempted it yet?
I'm interested in knowing if anyone tried this too
I’m too chicken to mess with anything not official from xda on my daily driver. I’m sucking it up and waiting out the period for the device unlock app to ‘officially’ sim unlock and try. When that day comes, I’ll post here.
I think it’s ignorant having to wait for a sim unlock for a phone you bought outright.

Eagerly awaiting news on this - why is there a waiting period on the sim unlock? How longs is that period? I'm about to head out to Tmobile store and buy me one too.
Verizon's LTE band 13 is exclusive to the Verizon model unfortunately. I wish it wasn't so you could use a bootloader unlocked Sprint or T-Mobile edition on Verizon. I did that with the Google Pixel - used the universal one on Verizon. I just got used to having an unrooted phone with the z2 Force. I switched to blokada after many years of always using ad away. I think most all ad blockers on unrooted phones are VPN based so it lags WiFi and mobile data a little but that's what you get to work with if you want the best moto phone running on Verizon.

Could you provide your source of information on that? T-Mobile's listing of the Z2 Force lists band 13 LTE capability, and multiple sources say that the Sprint variant has band 13 too. I am just about to pull the trigger on a Z2 Force variant that is bootloader unlockable, but whichever carrier version I get has to work with Straight Talk Verizon.
I'm seeing the sprint one listed as having band 13 now everywhere actually. My bad. I don't recall seeing that back when i got it and was shopping around. Let me know if the Sprint one works for you on vz because i miss having a a rooted phone.
The only different thing on the US phone's is the oem partition. Everything else hardware and software are very similar to the point I want to say identical. (Obviously, some slight changes in /system and stuff but that's with the territory of using OEM ROMs). I have flashed a T-Mobile flashall and it worked. I flashed back to Sprint shortly after. I did it for science.
So in short, will am unlocked T-mobile Moto Z2 work on the Verizon network with a sim swap? Or does it require a root or the bootloader thing that was mentioned, I haven't done either one as I am content with factory.
So, what's the verdict? Will unlocked T-Mobile Z2 force work with Verizon?
Most likely will not work. T-Mobile variant is GSM and most likely doesn't have the CDMA bands on it or programmed into it. Only thing you can try is flash Verizon firmware and see if it works. 99% chance T-mobile firmware will not work, Verizon firmware has about a 40% chance of working. If you don't have the device, I'd suggest not investing as no one has tried it.
I tried the Verizon flash all on my TMobile z2. Didn't work.lost baseband.
The flash all looked as if everything flashed properly...but when it finished and rebooted it still had tmo splash screen. So I don't know if it really did it.
If it's worth any thing my Verizon Sim in my tmo z2 gets great data...just no calls/messages
I have an unlocked Sprint variant that I flashed to Verizon and use with Straight talk Verizon. The only issue is that so far whenever an update comes in I have to back up all the things I want to save and flash the updated flashall, because the automatic updater just keeps on failing. I don't know if this matters, but I'm bootloader unlocked (had to for sim unlock) but without TWRP or root. It's possible that if I would try relocking the bootloader that the automatic update process would work. I briefly had a Mint sim in there (T-mobile) and everything seemed to work. I didn't really try things out with the Sprint rom, but as I remember everything worked, I just didn't like the icon style plus always having a notification saying something about a non Sprint sim card

Was it officially unlocked or was a modified file flashed to your phone? If you had a third party service unlock, then the hash check for that partition is incorrect and that's why updates fail.
I had a third party unlock it. Actually, it was the guy that people on this forum have talked about.
Will this work on Verizon? My tmo z2 was unlocked by TMobile not a third party
No it doesn't work... You can get data but that's it..

Hi- I am wondering about being able to buy a new-in-the-box z2 Force that was originally sold for Sprint, and being able to flash the T-mobile firmware to it for use with them. Is this possible? I have done this for Galaxy S8/S9 phones, but there is a deal right now where I can get this phone with 2 of the mods for dirt cheap, but it won't really matter if I can't do the conversion. Any advice?
I purchased this model of phone through Best Buys online retailer. They misadvertised the phone model and sent me this SM-N976V.
The phone seems to work fine aside from the fact that it doesn't show the 5G network here. I confirmed with Telus that their network is operational.
Does anyone know why it isn't working with this phone or if there's some sort of workaround?
I Googled that model. It came up Verizon. It also came up that a ton of people had issues with it and the 5G network. Something about that phone came out in 2019 and it isn't compatible with the new 5G network. You might want to talk to tech support.

That's the problem, it's a Verizon model. The phone was advertised as just a SM-N976 and they just sent me this Verizon model instead.
I am wondering if there's some way to remove the Verizon software to make it just a plain universal model.

I have yet to find anything to open a Verizon phone to make it universal. Verizon is on the CDMA network and say AT&T is on the GSM network. So I don't know if it's in the phone or sim card that makes the phone universal.

Look into changing the CSC to GCF instead of VZW and (for my n976v with one ui 3.1 &hiddenmenu) it took all of verizons bloat off apon sim change.
