Hey all,
You may have noticed that the front page (a.k.a. the portal) of our beloved forums has been getting regular updates, leading to news, improvements, and more.... anything related to xda-developers. Keeping up with the latest and greatest apps, themes, mods, hacks, etc. is our way of giving those developers that put the time and effort in this community some 15 minutes of fame by being featured in the largest online community of its kind in the world. However, since we are not omniscient and hence cannot spot every single piece of software that shows up in a 2.5 million member community, we would like to ask you for help. If you see something that is of interest to you, that you believe could have an impact on XDA, or you simply made the next best app in the world, drop us a pm. We will be more than happy to evaluate the submission and feature it on the XDA Portal.

Introduction
As some of you may know me
I´m orb3000, and been around XDA since 2006; this site change me the way of seeing mobile world. Interested mainly on Windows Mobile platform.
I started with Universal which I had for almost 5 years, after that I got a Rhodium and a Maple and later a Leo.
I write most of my articles for that OS and also do active help on spam reporting, as well as welcoming new members
I do not consider myself as an expert, I am simply a regular member trying to help to they wayI do better to the first and only community I love so much
XDA!!
So, feel free to contact me if you think something of your work may go to our Front Page.
Come on!, don´t be shy
orb
Thanks guys, I love the way you are being updated without losing the essence.
Everything in xda is getting better.
I am ElCondor, and I'm from Holland. You might know me from the GTX Sense theme.
Back in February, I started this job as a news writer, because I wanted to be part of and contribute to the xda-developers community.
Since then, I started to love writing these articles, and my English improved drastically.
My articles are mostly Android or Windows Phone 7 related.
You can always contact me if you have any suggestions or special requests. Also if you have found something newsworthy, something other users may enjoy too, just let me or any other newswriter know.
Best regards,
ElCondor
XDA News Writer
Hi guys, I've been around since 2007 when I bought the HTC Touch, well things have moved on a lot since then, and I've tried my hand at developing for WM and Android (still learning), but wanted to contribute more by becoming a News Writer for XDA
I write mainly Android articles, and some Windows Mobile. We're always sifting through the masses of threads for front page news, but do let me or the other guys know if you think anything is newsworthy including any breaking news!
I guess I will add my little "intro" in here as well
I'm egzthunder1 and I am the Portal Administrator as well as a Senior Moderator. I have been a XDA member for a very, very long time... since July 2005 to be more precise. I have gone through many devices, starting out with a Wallaby (SX56) and kept on going afterwards with many other devices (Blue Angel, Wizard, Vogue, Raphael, Herman, Mogul, and ultimately HD2)... most of which I still own and are fully functional. I have helped many, many people throughout these years, despite my lack of development ability. A few months ago, I became a News Writer based on a suggestion by Flar (Retired Admin) to try to increase the flow of people to the site by creating a more dynamic front page of the website, with up to date content about everything XDA. Shortly after, I became Senior Moderator, and really shortly after, due to Flar's departure, I became Editor in Chief and Portal Administrator.
I would like to invite all of you (as I stated in my first post in this thread) to let us (the news writer team) know if you know of something that would be cool to have in the front page.
Looking forward to your input and thanks for supporting XDA!
Sincerely,
egzthunder1
Hi there!
I've been a member since 2008, when I got my Universal after having the Monet for some time. Although it was basic, the Monet forced me to get another Windows Mobile phone as I was instantly addicted to how much potential the operating system had - before then I could never really check emails, browse the internet or watch video without booting up my PC.
After the Universal came my much-adored Touch Pro, which I still use. I recently bought and fixed up a G1 so that I could branch out into the Android side of the site a little more, and I'm really enjoying tinkering with the system.
I wanted to become a news writer as I have always felt an urge to contribute to the community despite not having any technical knowledge (some of you might have seen me giving out dodgy advice around the forums ).
Having both phones should let me write articles about both Android and Windows Mobile, and I hope I can help if you want to get your story out on the front page.
Well done is better than well said.
Maybe something to expand on....
Found a website that analyzes the value of other sites.
What is the Website Value of XDA-Developers.com
It seems that xda-developers.com is being valued at $13.28 Million. With 1.66 Million Pages and with a World Wide rank of 1,806. Compared to that: Htc.com is only worth $12.66 Million Google is ranked 1 worth $8 Billion and Microsoft on rank 19 worth $1 Billion.
http://bizinformation.org/us/www.xda-developers.com
A little side note, my Blog only ranks at 1.4 Million and is only worth 7800.- For Obvious reasons.
Thanks for the information!
Not sure if we can write about that but I will find out

Website valuation sites are notorius for being crazily inaccurate when it comes to valuing Forum sites and Blogs. They tend to be based on assumptions about traffic, potential sales and ad clicks. Few Blogs and Forums sell much if anything and that just leaves ad clicks. Forums are very poor at generating ad clicks as Members tend to become completely blind to the ads and don't click them at all. Much of the traffic to blogs and forums is repeat traffic and they are even less likely to click on the ads (not to mention ad blockers). When was the last time you click an ad on here!?

Absolutly true, and I am sure I did not motivate anyone to sell xda-developers.com. But it is still a amusing evaluation. For me XDA-Developers.com has definetly much more continues value then htc.com but I guess one might not exist without the other. But regarding clicking adds I rather donate directly. But off course I donate to many different people not just XDA-Developers.com. Regarding the adds I wonder how much money they really generate? If they are useless I would not mind to see them gone. Dont worry I will donate something for saying that. lol

as the guy stated the websites are mostly rated by how many clicks and traffic they have from ads as well. I believe the knowledge that this site provides it's priceless. And because it is distributed free the value ranks it to one of the most important (if not the most important) website from celphone developers to the least know hows users. This website I consider it the Great Library of Alexandria!

Lol. So much to be on the front page
Hi Guys,
I am fairly certain that many of you will have been as frustrated as I am about LeEco's response to our requests for the source code for our devices. Many of us have been met with we did not release the phone to the US market so please contact the 3rd Party seller. You and i know that this is an unacceptable stance and in breach of the GNU etc.
I think it's time for all frustrated owners to show LeEco what we think of their stance, and take a stance of our own as many of us have already started to do, and see if we can twist their arm a bit. The best way in my opinion is to hurt the company where it hurts most, and that's in the pocket and in the public eye. I therefore recommend that all users go to their face book account and leave a review of 1 star and explain why. Making sure you also mention our device in the comments section. This is bound to hurt and just over the last day i have seen their review score drop a few points. Now if everyone who signed the petition did this they would likely have a score near 1 out of 5. Which is roughly what I would give their service just now.
I have also been instructed by Lemall.US to email their opensource team a request to release the code which I have done and hope many will take time out to do the same.
Keep in mind we have been treated completely different to the buyers of the CN model who seem to get endless updates. While we get BS!
All of these reviews can be changed in the future if they release the source code and let us be free of their crappy, malware firmware.

Most recent reply suggests its working -
Denis our LeEco Global team has been contacted regarding this issue. We are investigating why the Le1 Pro x800 source codes were never released as part of the petition. We are pushing the LeEco Global Team to resolve this issue for you in a timely manner. The LeMall and LeEco US Teams were unaware of this issue until we received the reviews, but we will work to get this resolved for you. We hope you understand this device is not connected to our region and this is why our teams aren't able to resolve this for you immediately. We will keep in touch. -Matthew, LeMall US Team
Seems to be definitely working, now at 87 one star reviews and certainly LeMall US Team have taken notice, but we must keep the pressure up.
48 hours have now passed and 49 reviews by US X800 Users.
What can we achieve at this rate in the next 48 hours?.
This is awesome considering the Campaign is in its infancy and only went live on a few other sites last night so hopefully it will pick up exponentially over the next few days. Like the petition on change.org did.
We need to try and aim for at least another 63 reviews, so that we equal their 5 star reviews and they will hit the 2.5 rating, but obviously the more the better, so keep on spreading the word.
Still no further news from LeEco since this morning and not so much as an acknowledgement from le.opensource. But i am in communication with them in all channels and not giving up.
I honestly believe we are not far from cracking this.
I will keep everyone updated with any new developments as soon as I hear.
Awesome effort so far guys!
Respect!

Intro:
Fan Meet is Something new organized by Honor in order to Collect opinions, feature requests and Bug reports from honor Users where other OEMs failed to do so.
I would like to share my experience how the meet had gone through.
About:
The meet was planned and set to start around 6:30 pm considering the availability of all the users who ever filled up the Google form. At 6:30 like regular we introduced ourselves to the Honor R&D team and later around 6:45 we had gone into discussions regarding the opinions on Emui 5. Surprisingly, Honor at first asked the Cons and what everyone Dint like in EMUI. Most OEMS just boast what they give and limit the users to use the same. But when it comes to Honor they asked the cons first. Mostly i heard about battery improvements and Ram Management. As they just gave a word, Promisingly (of course they surprised me and all) Honor 8 Pro users by pushing B150 ota which improves battery backup, Thermal optimizations and other bugs. That is soo quick and i dint expected such a quick response and This is completely Unexpected. And when gone through the second and foremost thing, they asked us what we need from honor in current software and future updates as well. Here Everyone raised their requirements, Even i did asked many things which our Members of Honor Forums striving since Long. R&D team took a note of what we requested. I hope that was a week day after Honor meet, they published a form here which is a poll where they tried to consider users choice. And the last one Pros On Emui . I feel EMUI 5 is obviously something that changed the game of Honor. Theres a lot of features where other proprietary softwares dint have. For the People who cant tweak their phone like root&flash(Covers everything regarding roms), The feature rich EMUI is like RR for unrooted Users. Even we discussed Many things regarding EMUI and we ended Discussions at 8:30 PM.
Post Meet:
Honor arranged dinner for all the enthusiasts who were at the meet. R&D team is friendly, they let us express everything in our mind. Its not just a normal day, HONOR truely surprised everyone in all aspects. As a token of Honor, They gave presentations to all the visitors which is eye catching .
Conclusion:
As far as i understand through the meet, Unlike other OEMs Honor is trying to reach the end users which is not a anything normal.
They collected the list of cons and rolled out an ota for 8 pro and 6x users within a week, Noted the feature Requests and published a form immediately. Woah, i feel honor(Huawei) will be a top brand if they continue the same strategy.
Kudos to R&D and Honor for giving us an opportunity to share our thoughts. And Thank You to all the Readers, Hope u guys will be at a Honor meet in ur nearest city soon. (To Openup, This Meet was arranged in Hyderabad).
That is nice. I wish that other android OEMs would do the same thing too.
Ahan its really great that honor is trying to listen user opinioms and requirements.. but i hope they don't ignore Pakistani users too in updates..

True, it's just sad that everyone keep begging xiaomi for Android 10 update, seriously.
They should have appreciated on what xiaomi offers with this phone at this kind of price like good display, build quality and superior cameras! You are getting what you payed for.
I mean... if they, or you, really love Android 10 flavouring their A3, just grab a big selection of Android 10 custom ROM from our community, its way simpler than keep doing that. I know they may have bugs but they like Android 10 because of these... Dark mode, gesture navigation, privacy control, etc.
Now if they, or you decide to keep on begging xiaomi for Android 10 update, by all means go ahead! But this won't speed up their (xiaomi dev) development. Simple common sense, isn't it?
I strongly disagree with you, how does Xiaomi have enough resources to build MIUI 11? In fact Xiaomi has also released MIUI11 based Android 10 updates, if they have enough resources for them then they definitely work on Android One phones too.
Another thing: The reason Android One phones are supposed to get updates faster is manufacturers don't need to modify the OS much as compared to their own flavour (MIUI).
If they don't have enough resources they should not produce a Android One phone at first place. The MI A3 community is not being impatient, the update is quite late already, clearly there is no benefit of this phone having Android One program.

No brother, users are NOT getting what they paid for. Faster updates was one of the main selling point of this Phone, clearly Xiaomi has no interest in their Android One devices, their priority has always been phones with MIUI. And yes, NOT everyone has enough technical knowledge to flash custom roms.

They surely don't have as much income from Android One opposed to MIUI, which is their brand. Of course they are not working as hard on it and the teams working on MIUI are definitely bigger. The number of phones that got Q is really handful compared to Xiaomi's lineup and those that did got an update, cost a lot more than this device. THAT is whole point.

Well, I'm not sure about mid-range devices which have received Android 10 update, but If you go to Android One's website, their title says "Secure, up-to-date and easy to use", but unfortunately our devices have been outdated for quite a while now. Simple.
But yes, we can't do anything but to wait.

Outdated? We have patch from 5th December and we're in the middle of January. Sounds pretty up-to- date to me. Don't confuse the latest Android version with the latest security patch - Android One is primarily about monthly security updates. 2 Android version upgrades are a nice bonus, but with no guaranteed time frame when is it going to be received.
Fuuuuuu

Xiaomi never said it will release faster update, they just said Android One provides a simple, clean UI, providing 2 yrs of software update and 3 yrs of security update only.
If they had no interest on A series phone then why they joined Android One program and manufacturing a widely successful Mi A1 in the first place? They put priority to MIUI phones because MIUI has ads in it, Xiaomi makes money from them, whereas Android One, Xiaomi didn't make any money at all. Then why they keep making Android One phones? Just because users love clean Android, that is something you can't beat with.
Our community provides a large numbers of tutorials on how unlock bootloader/root/install custom ROM, so many of you shouldn't have any difficulties, in case if they have so, our community members will be nice enough to help them find/ solve their difficulties.

Spolier: this is a rant about the community and their impatience.
Ever since I bought the device 3 months ago, I immediately started searching for ROMs and Telegram groups, etc. And all the time I was seeing people spamming threads, groups and even official Xiaomi Twitter page with questions about the update and such. Some also contacted the customer support and asked them about the update, although the customer support doesn't have any idea about it. And I saw a tweet from Mi India that the update will come mid February. Most replies to that were like: "**** you xiaomi, I will never buy your phone again, you disappointed your customers....".
First of all, it was never said on the Android One page nor the Mi A3 page that the updates will be immediate.
Secondly, building and polishing an Android update to maybe millions of devices costs money and time. I'm not saying that we will get a bug free update, but something probably close to. You can't expect from a company that releases new phones every month with minimal profit margins to push updates so fast. Some flagships still didn't get the update, but their price was 2 or 3 times bigger. You get what you pay for. Appreciate that you have a really nice phone for nothing basically.
Lastly, that behavior is cancerous. Being angry at a company for not fullfiling all of your expectations is your problem. Rather than spamming groups and whatnot, spend some time finding phones that suit you better or find devs that you can donate to. Send them a dollar or two so that they can pay their building servers and drink coffee while removing bugs with no logs.

For your opinion must waiting on september.few days befor release android 11.
This is not android one my friend is meizu rom.
The most of miui took android 10 and xiaomi forget the vanila android.
This is the truth.
Is the last time buy xiaomi smartphone.never i will buy again this brand.
I have delete until now 3 brands.
Apple motorola xiaomi.
This phone has easy to unlock the boot loader and a bunch of custom ROMs. Go over to the other forums for other phones. It's crickets on the dev side.
Clean Android: good. If mi 9 had it I would jump on one. A month or two delay over the life of the phone is not a huge deal.
I have used 2 Android One phones recently. And they were soo cheap phones. Now I have the Mi A3 and this phone is more expensive than the others. (In Android One category)
And these phones updated very fast. Beta tests begin 1 week after the beta release for Pixel phones. So Android One program means an early update to me. If the update will be late why did I bought this phone?
But there is a point to mention. Another android one phone that I have purchased at the same time with A3, didn't receive Android 10 eighter. There could be a problem with the Google maybe?
i agree with you friend but please explain why A2 got update before A3?

And in your first point there was a promise, refer to mannu jain tweet. What is the meaning of "One of the first few device" if 2 year old nokia phone got an update, and Samsung cheap phone also received it and motorola too. Then what is the meaning of that tweet, please explain it too sir.

Nokia 7.1, motorola one action
It’s just a typical way of thinking of those who had very few or even no knowledge about how programming and the software development process works…
Keep dumping pressure to devs only makes things worse.
It's like torque down the wheel nuts without even using a proper torque wrench; imagine if a guy was hurrying tightening down the nuts by bare hands. The wheels nuts can be loosened up and fall off the car! How safe would that be? Same applies for software development, if they rushed for an update, it can be buggy as hell, who knows!
So “Patience” is definitely the key, I had the same experience with A2 last year, where people just kept begging for Android 9 update. Xiaomi rushed, and pushes out buggy update like battery drain, inconsistent UI, and more severe, bootloop in its Jan update. Now, A2 got android 10 update doesn't mean it is better, it can have bugs like UI, bluetooth, slow charging bugs. It's a last major software update for A2, Xiaomi can rush the update, can't they? I know in Xiaomi website it said "Android one provides up-to-date software experience", but there's the fact that nothing is absolute. The update can be delayed for whatever reason.
The A3 is a cheap, budget, yet mid-range phone and people still want to interpret it as a “flagship” phone. Although this is an Android One phone, Xiaomi still need to fix bugs and add their own custom features. That would generally take some times for the completion, that doesn’t even count for fixing various bugs. Even though Motorola, Nokia phones get Android 10, it’s just depends on certain devs. They can be more productive than us.
Even more surprising, when Xiaomi india replied a tweet at twitter saying that android 10 will arrive on mid-Feb. People are screwed... they f**k Xiaomi and said that they won’t buy their phone again. Well, I feel quite miserable on why are people so impatient and complaining so much, seriously.
That is all I want to say, and I don’t want to dump any more time in this weird tragedy. If you disagree with me, feel free to blame, swear, or report to me. But the Fact that 'the arrival of Android 10 has no exact date' is going to Never change! So please, stop complaining about the update.
Thanks Captain!

Thank you for this Post! got already tired of people complaining about a good, cheap phone whose dev's are taking care of a bug free release first instead of rushing things. The A3 is working purrrfeect for what you pay <3
From my point of view thinking of that mi A3 has some type of priority is as foolish as of believing that this extra time (Chinese New year) will mean a more polished and refined rom.
I think someone should learn what Android One means before starting to make a thread.

Thats completely untrue. Xiaomi have made alluded to faster android upgrades for their Android One phones. And sometimes even made direct statements on that issue - one statement was from Manu (India's VP) saying "Mi A3 is going to be one of the first few devices to get Android Q".
After all the hype about faster updates from their fanbase, now you've amazingly said Xiaomi never promised anything at all! How very Trumpian of you.
And now you've made some more incredible statements like Xiaomi is only producing Android one phones because they have to, not because they actually want to, and Xiaomi don't make any money at all on these phones. No facts, no figures, just an outright assertion.
Customs roms are nice but it has no bearing on this issue. These roms are generally not vetted, tested, checked to see if they are stable and free from malware.

Bro, would like to disagree with you here. If in the end we have to choose a custom rom, then why would I buy an Android One device. I could simply buy a MiUI based Xiaomi device and simply install custom rom (Probably that's what the Xiaomi wants). The other reason people prefer Android One device is to get rid of complications a custom rom develop.
Secondly, there's no hiding away from the fact that update is delayed for whatever reason may it be. Both the parties are at fault, I agree lots of people are baby shouting about Android 10 but the fact is and will be is that the update has been delayed. And for this no one is blaming developers. I always respect the developers. They work behind the scenes without getting applaused. But the anger of people is over Xiaomi not the developers. The fact is people showing here as if they care for developrs are actually diverting the company's fault to developrs. Xiaomi aren't focusing on Android One with majority of developers assigned to MiUI. And this device is not the one which has been sold less. This is one of the best selling phones. It offering a lot at this price.

Typical non-committal language - just consider how many vendors and devices are out there - if the Mi A3 gets Android 10 in March 2020, it might very well be part of the "first few devices". In short, there is no reason to assume Mr. Manu wasn't being truthful at the time of tweeting this (back in Aug 2019). That is what he was led to believe then.
Xiaomi should be a bit more open about the roadmap/update progress, to ease everyone's mind.
