Hi Guys,
I have redmi note 8
Mui global 12.0.2 stable
Android 10
This phone has insane battery drained issue.
I turned off the phone while charging. After charging to 100 percent, i keep the phone turned off. What insane thing is the phone keeps warm in "shutdown" mode.
Two hours later I turn on the phone, the battery drained to 72 percent.
Then I let it idle at my house because i go outside cyling for two hours.
When I got back home, I check again, the battery got drain to 50 percent in idle mode.
FYI, I already did factory reset for this phone. The battery drained still occured in rapid state.
I have not do any root for this phone.
Rgiht now, the software i installed are kakao talk and whatsapp, I have to install this for communication purposes.
Please advise how to solve this issue.
Note : I have similiar issue with my redmi note 4x mediatec, charging 100 percent, battery drained to 0 percent in 10 minutes, without do anything.
That is why I trade in that redmi note 4x to get this redmi note 8.
Now the same battery drained issue affected my redmi note 8.

charging to 100% is already a mistake ...
but that is not the problem here
do you use the same charger for both devices ?
what kernel do you use ?
battery saving mode activated ?

I usually charge only at 80 percent. but since this battery drained issue, i charge 100 percent. i turn it off. i sleep. tomorrow morning when i woke up, i turn on the phone. the battery is already drained to 40 percent left.
Redmi note 4x is already sold. i use the money to buy this redmi note 8.
kernel ? How to check ?
Battery saving mode activated but it does woork any good.
I am planning to downgrade to miui 11. this miui 12.0.2.0 is a disaster for me.
It will ruined my battery. I do not want to buy another again. but this things happened.

this means it didn't shutdown imediatly
some (****ui) services keep runing even if the screen is off
(the phone consumption of battery when powered off is minimal)

All Custom roms have pretty much the same battery usage (it mostly depend on you)
and the worst is still better than miui ...
my recomendation are :
1-RRos
2-AEX 7.3
3-MSM Extended 12.5
4-Superior OS
(All A10)
Clean flash and use "Sixteen kernel"

Should i just install this rom via twrp or do i need to download more files like the latest OpenGapps package ?

Why you installed magisk before the rom ?
and why no-verity-opt ?
follow the clean flash steps
if you really need gapps use NikGapps core (flash after the rom)

Ok, i repeat again the process
please follow instruction and do not add/remove a step
-ftwrp 3.5.2_9-1 (already installed)
-reboot to twrp recovery
-format data (not wipe) (this will erase internal storage!)
-wipe 5 (cache/dalvik/system/vendor/data)
-flash the rom you want - RROS-Q-8.7.3-20210923-ginkgo-Milestone
-flash kernel (if you have any) - i have no idea about this
-flash Magisk-v21.4
-flash DFE
-reboot to system
just realize, this rom has no playstore.
back to twrp
flash NikGapps-core-arm64-10-20210918-signed
Reboot system
install whatapp
have to allow all the permissions
install kakaotalk
have to allow all the permissions
Done for now, let's see if this custome drain my battery worse than mui or not.
Anyway, how do u charge your battery to make it last longer ?

Hi loopypalm,
I use this custom rom for the past two days.
Battery drained still occured.
I charge 100 percent. smartphone turned off.
I use xiaomi fast charger from redmi note 8 pro (belongs to my cousin)
After 100 percent I unplug the charger and I let it off for 15 - 20 minutes.
When i turned on the smartphone, the battery is already decreased to 74 percent (while the smartphone sleeps)
When I type this reply on my laptop, the battery decreased again to 71 percent (idle, do nothing)
I only install, whatsapp and kakaotalk for working purposes (communicating with my team and others)
I will installed orange recovery using twrp
then, I'm planning to install other custom rom which is

Hello Guys, I just bought a Lenovo Z2 Plus and wanted to install a custom rom on it. I did my thorough research through XDA and Youtube about various OREO based custom roms available for this phone. I like the Pixel Experience Rom but I am a newbie in flashing custom roms. I read in few threads about network connectivity issues in the Pixel Experience Rom and Resurrection Remix rom as well. In few of the youtube videos, I saw that the battery backup and Antutu score of Pixel Experience rom is marginally lower when compared to Resurrection Remix.
Can you guys give me your opinion on which rom should I install on my stock device. Kindly please provide the respective rom's Antutu Benchmark scores and Screen On Time especially for the Pixel Experience Rom. Please guide me about the bootloader unlocking and TRWP installation process as well. The last time I did all these was 2 years ago so kindly help me.
Thanks.
I have tried the PE (Pixel Exp) ROM and here my observations on that.
The Good
Extremely fluid. Performance is mind blowing. I have tried 3 Custom ROM so far (AEX, RR, PE) and PE felt the best performing in terms day to day device usage. Feels like PE is meant for Z2 Plus and vise versa. Everything works out of the box, GApps are preloaded, ROM is simple but very effective. All sensors, every piece of hardware included in the phone works perfectly. I never felt it was a custom rom, felt like meant for Z2 Plus.
The Bad
Not just just pixel, this is present in all Custom ROM for me and my device. I am from India, and using Reliance Jio VoLTE.
Now the problem is network reception isn't as good as stock ZUI.
The 2.4GHz WiFi got limited to 72 mbps only. Stock ZUI has no problem, tried changing few ROMs and finally settled with AEX which I see can connect to 2.4GHz WiFi and 150 mbps. I have tried baseband 1.76 (ZUI 2.5.104 ST India) and baseband 1.70 (Latest) for ZUI 3.5.3xx China. Nothing seems to help. Out of 4 ROM, Stock ZUI (2.5/3.5), PE, RR, AEX, only ZUI and AEX are able to give me a 150 mbps wifi link speed.
Now regarding the VoLTE reception. VoLTE works fine but network is fluctuating like hell. For me, the same is present in all three custom rom I have tried. AEX, RR, PE. Tried baseband 1.70/1.76 but couldn't solve it. There are no call drops but network isn't stable at all. Tested with Reliance Jio NetVelocity app for detailed information and it seems with none of the Custom ROM, Phone is able to sustain a stable 2300 MHz link. Falls back to 1800 MHz and 850 MHz randomly. Network speed wasn't bad, infact I would say satisfactory.
Only ZUI seems to have a stable Jio reception for me.
The Ugly
Battery issue. SOT is similar with 3 roms I have tried. PE/RR/AEX but something under PE is causing serious battery drain while idle. Overnight the phone is losing 2.5% to 3% battery per hour. I have tested to different custom kernel. AR-Beast and Heliox v2.0 with PE. Liked AR-Beast better as Heliox would underclock the CPU/GPU. Now with AR-Beast the idle battery drain came down to just around 1% per hour but still higher than default Resurrection Remix (RR ROM) or AEX ROM.
Presently using AEX ROM without any extra modification. Performance isnt as fuild as Pixel ROM but less problematic than others. Infact only ROM allowing me a 150mbps WiFi link speed.
Please guide me about the bootloader unlocking and TRWP installation process as well. The last time I did all these was 2 years ago so kindly help me.

Follow this guide to unlock the bootloader and install TWRP. Then installation processor of ROM will depend on which ROM you select. Note, there are two different ROM type now. 1. Full Treble 2. Non Treble. Installation process are different for them.
Pixel is a non treble ROM. Like 2 years ago, you would feel similar setup process.
If you chose Pixel, after you have unlocked and got TWRP installed,
1. download PE ROM
2. boot into TWRP
3. Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik
4. Flash ROM
5. Wipe Cache
6. Reboot
If all went ok, frist boot will take a few minutes and you will be asked to setup your Google Account under Pixel Exp ROM.
Remember, I am not an expert so wait for others to comment and guide you !! Just sharing from my personal experience !!
Good luck.

You need the NON-TREBLE new trees for PE ROM
Now as I said I am no expert so I dont know if one should flash kernel at one go. I can only tell you what I did.
First I did the PE. Setup the phone and used it for 20 odd minutes while setting up all the things. Then I went on to flash the AR-Beast. Some one suggested me not not turn on the phone immediately after kernel flash. Rather power off from TWRP wait for 10 mins before switch on. I don't know if it is required or not, but I have followed that advice.
Thanks.
@4tanmoy
One small mistake from my end. PE ROM comes with GApps included. So when you flash PE ROM, you don't need to Flash GApps again.

Yes, I did some more research. Flashed PE with UberCool.
After Setup, I flashed AR Kernal and SuperSu.
Installed Google Camera Mod for HDR+ and Potrait Modes.
Flashed Dialer Fix to resolve the dialer problem as it showed that phone is not supported when launching dialer. now fixed.
The PE ui is butter smooth, phone doesnot heats anymore. Charged last night till 100 % and browsed youtube, downloaded my preferred apps from play store, browsed quora for 30 mins, took some pictures. In the morning I played subway surfers, clash royal, some web browsing, downloaded all remaining apps for my phone. The battery is now 59% while I typing this from the phone.
Overall, I am astonished by the PE smoothness and completely satisfied by the battery life.
Excellent !!
Could you please check two things, how is the battery drainage overnight? While phone is idle.
Secondly, what is the WiFi Link speed?
Basically, two of my main problems lol

regarding battery drain, I slept at 02:40 at night at 21 %. Woke up at 08:15 at 17 %. I guess 1% per hour. I am getting a Stand By time of 20+ hours and Screen On Time of more than 5 hours 30 minutes approximately.

Thanks for the reply.
Your data is very similar to what I have experienced with Pixel ROM.
This drainage is one of the issue for which I had to move out of Pixel ROM
Excellent review, I too installed PE and is enjoying every bit of Pixel, but the main problem I am facing is ,my phone's all sensors are dead or not working has tried Zuk Official too The nougat Indian and The Oreo Chinese version, but without any luck proximity gyroscope pedometer and other sensors are not working,
Would like ask someone from the forum to please help me to fix the isaue, as far as Custom rom in Zuk 2 I will stick to Pixel as it is the best till now what ever I have used . I have TWRP installed has flashed sensor.zip available in the Zuk Forum but nothing seems to work.
Waiting for a reply from the forum members it they take out sometime to help a man is distress.

Anyway, hope you find a solution and if you do, pls post that so that for reference if later down the some one needs he can fix his issue.

Hello everybody,
-I have bought lately used mi max 32GB (Hydrogen) on miui 9.5.2 global stable
-I use my phone for browsing internet and social media-no game-no calls(Data sim)
-I disables (all notifications-led lights-second space-quick ball-etc...)+battery saver+restrict background activity
-I only get 9 hours sot on 3g or 10 hours on wifi+4% or 5% battery drain in idle mode.So downclocking the cpu may help me to save battery
Question:
1-What can I do to save more power in miui 9?
2-I heard of ultra power saving mode is found in miui 8.How can I downgrade to it?Is it helpful?
3-What can I do to save more power using root (custom rom-custom kernel)?
Waiting your feedback
Up.....................................Up.................................................Up
You can't... Ultra power saving is present only with MTK SoC's (& it's still much behind SD). Either switch to older MiUI 8.2~8.3 or to costume ROM.

Thank you for your reply,But I have two questions:
1- How can I downgrade to miui 8 without unlocking bootloader?
I`am now on Global beta Miui 9 -8.4.19
2-How Can I achieve 0% power consumption in idle mode without root?
1. The same way you installed that one & from the same place, just pick older version & download it.
http://en.miui.com/download-302.html
2. You can't it sucks 0.3~0.5% per h.

1-I installed miui 9 Global beta 8.4.19 using updater app.Can I install miui global stable 8 using the same way?
Because Some people say you should use mi flash +edl mode
2-I used before another phone(alcatel pixi 4 power)+greenify without root ,and I could achieve 0% or 1% at maximum in 15 continuous hours in idle mode
I don`t know why it doesn't work well in miui 9?
note:-I disables (all notifications-led lights-second space-quick ball-etc...)+battery saver+restrict background activity
3-Is there any app that can disable everything in mobile (calls-sms-notifications-wakelocks-background apps-any other feature)?
Because I don`t use mobile at all for at least 15 hours daily!!

Which you can get when you: unlock boot loader, root, flash a costume ROM & take a control of the phone. In the meanwhile address your complaints to the one's in charge on the official MIUI forum. This is costume ROM's community and we wouldn't make our efforts if we were really satisfied with what OEM's offered.

A) Nope. So called "ultra power saving mode" is tied to vendor not MIUI or Android version.
The MIUI 8.3 is based on the Android 6 and whose one of the better firmware releases regarding battery life. That's why I recommend it in the first place.
B) it's MTK own frequency scheduler set of restrictions ment to extend the battery life but in generally their SoC's are less efficient than Snapdragons. Only Sony has an rather good "Ultra power saving mode" included in their firmwares and disregarding of the SoC vendor.
C# Unlock the boot loader, root, make recovery & kernel backup with flashify (or something similar), install latest unofficial TWRP by nijel8, flash the unofficial LineageOS 14.1 by nijel8, latest firmware & Open Gapps (micro or pico), install the script of your choice from power/performance thread (post no#5) & let it boot. In settings enable the hotplug option, reboot and enjoy. This end's this discussion for me.

Can anyone help me to clarify my questions ( All based on custom ROM )
1. Fast charging will work on custom ROM or not ?
2. Volte & Vilte will work or not ?
3. Custom ROM will damage battery life or not ?
I can only answer your first question, because my operator doesn't offer VoLTE, but according to comments on the custom rom that I'm using (Xtended version 10) it seems to be working. Screen-on time is now over 3hrs and I have 3,5 days to go, last charge was about 3,5 days ago. So the battery lasts over a week in my situation, which is/was a little better than on the stock rom from that day, about 2 years ago.
Fast charging is working on this custom rom, yes
Ow, and OP, I have a custom rom as you can read above , my P2 is rooted, also with Magisk, and no problem at all with my banking app; it doesn't even notice me that I'm on a custom rom.

With Lineage 15.1 and sensible apps/settings/general user behaviour, the standby time is fine. Adding in rooting/tweaking it feels like it is better than before (Android 6).
However, I am still troubleshooting what appears to be 30+% reduced screen-on time and high system process power usage with/without rooting.

But overall I have better sot and also much less lagg.
I'm having 15hours of sot.
Or 9-10hours with light usage.

I have limited experience with ROMs. So please wait for people who has tested more ROMs for better feedback.
I always prefer using Custom ROMs as stock as possible. I don't ROOT or add any extra custom modification, like battery management or such extra stuff.
I have seen MiUi feels bit sluggish but gives excellent battery back-up, especially if you don't game. Productivity wise, it felt 40/50% better than most other ROMs & I guess additional battery management apps & mods (underclocking CPU/GPU, reducing system animation levels, etc) may even double that.
Thanks

Arrow Oreo last version or crdroid last version with prototype 3.18 kernel.. definitely give upto 2 days when combined with akt battery saver profile and balanced on spectrum..
Deep CAF pie also good.. can easily give upto 2 day back up of not much usage.
I recently moved away from jag Oreo latest as off screen drain was 1% - 1.2% per hour even after a week of letting it "settle"..
I don't keep WiFi/location/ WiFi scanning on at all... Just regular stuff that have on my phone..

1. U need to provide info/log of "a11 flashing"
2. Even in this pixel rom, while watching videos in chrome (famous 3rd party web player). Screen was flickering in video portions
Firefox was working fine
Plus for your info. Mx player's default settings were choppy. Had to switch to vlc. But results r not satisfactory in compare to miui
So the summary
It must be compatibility issue with modules/architecture (sorry i dont know right dev term)
Possible suggestion from m side=
If u have tried multiple roms and every rom is flickering, then u can try DIFFERENT KERNAL
I dnt gaurantee bt u can give it a try. Also check if any magisk modules can help u.
(Very less chances but it would be an experiment)
