quick question. notifications for things like a new outlook email received and whatsapp etc appear as small icons on the front screen. These are easily missed.when i press the icon it then turns into a large notification .
Is there a way of changing a setting so i receive the large notification with detail first on the front screen rather than just a small icon
Yes you can under notification in settings. There you can choose short and detailed. The detailed one is big box notification.
thanks Jake ,was already switched to detailed but you put me on the right path
In case anyone else has the issue , go to Notifications,at the bottom under "Looking for Something else" click notifications (lock screen) then change from icons only to details

When i choose a picture as a wallpaper, it onli appears in the middle of the screen. It doesnt appear on the top bar (the start menu area) or the bottom bar (near softkeys).
what i wanna do is make the picture fit the entire screen, or at least make the bars opaque-ish so i can see the picture. I think the pictures will look much much better that way. Is there any way to do this?

You can only do this with pictures sized 240x320, use photo shop or similar to resize smaller pics, or simpler way use the phone (if camera picture) held normally instead of the usual "Camera style" way taking pics vertically also make sure camera is on 2M setting (in cam view, three small setting boxes in centre/top, the middle box change to 2M)
Finally i dont think you can change taskbars to transparent/opaque unless you use theming software like wisbar. Correct me if i'm wrong others, as i am looking to change taskbar myself to opaque.
Hope this helps

I think I know what's happened. It looks like when the background picture was selected, the transparency level was really low/high (whichever meakes it MORE transparent!)
The way to fix this is to go to Start -> Programs -> Pictures & Videos (I.E. the WiMo program, not HTC's version)
Then navigate to the background picture you want to set as the background and open the picture (view fullscreen) then click Menu -> Set as Today Background and change the transparency level to 0% and tap OK.
Fingers crossed that should solve your problem! Annoyingly you can only change the transparancy this way, not through Settings -> Today!
Awesome I knew something was there but couldn’t
remember where......
thanks for help
Can I change any of the dropdown notification bar power controls?
Specifically, the flashlight is only using one of the LEDs (the bottom one) and isn't really bright enough. If I use another widget (SwitchPro widget, for example) then the flashlight turns on full blast.
But, given the convenience of having it in the dropdown, I was hoping that there was a setting somewhere buried that I haven't seen. Any way to change those actions?
Weird, mine uses both of them.
The top is brighter than the bottom but both mine work. I can't imagine needing it much brighter.
It is good idea, but how we can do that
I hope to find some help from xda experts ASAP
I can't make out the icons at the very top of my screen - e.g. messages, battery life, BT... (yes, I'm probably older than many of you)
I would either like to make that area large, turn up the brightness or ideally -
I'd like the number of new emails, text messages and voicemails to show up on the icons that are at the bottom of my screen like they did on my EVO3d and ET4G - not sure if that is a skin or mod or what but it was very helpful.
Any one of these solutions for this GN newbie would be most appreciated.

Well then here's the perfect mod for you! Old Geezer
Thanks - that is very close to what I'm looking for - it concentrates on making the ones on the right more noticeable.
The problem is I need the ones on the left more noticeable. E.g. I have a battery status icon that shows me the percent of battery life remaining instead of the stock one that has bar.
It appears that items up there have a transparency thing going on - I'd like to turn that off so the images are brighter/crisper.
The items on the right are easy enough to read -e.g. how many bars I'm getting as they are a more noticeable blue.
So I guess what I'd really like is to remove the transparency if that is what is going on up there and to get my icons back on the main part of the screen that show the number of unread messages, missed calls, new email messages - not sure if that was an HTC and Samsung thing or a feature in the older version of Android but I miss it.
That stupid overlay/transparency pissed me off. But if you can decompile and do a simple xml edit and recompile it can be gone.
SystemUI.apk\res\values\dimens.xml (find line below)
<item type="dimen" name="status_bar_icon_drawing_alpha">100.0%</item>
the default setting is like 54.9999%. 100% = "0" overlay and bright icons now.
good day.

Clearly your Jou Jou is much stronger than mine - could tell me exactly how to do this or would that be too complicated to explain?
Is there anyway for fixing the notifications below the quick tiles. Because there is very big empty space and after that the notifications shows. There is quick tiles later alot of empty space and later notifications and any updates didn't fixed it.
Little problems are here and there little lags in ui. Moving files sometimes not work. I was stock rom user and i feel its not snappy even its processer is very fast and low res screen.
Same with me .. I am facing that problem too sometime...
I have the same issue >> Notification right swipe creates a blank duplicate notification:
restart your phone will fix it
Same prob here
It's not blank dupe but sliding it to the side isn't dismissing it. Just moving it to the side. Eg. If u slide to the right, it'll be displayed as a blank row. Then if u slide that blank row left, the content will reappear.
What? I dont experience this why??
