I thought it would be interesting to see what people have done with their devices, now that we can do at least a little bit of customization within WP7. I've seen some pretty smooth looking phones in YouTube videos and around the internet. I'm sure no two customized phones are the same.
Whether it be registry changes, accent customization, theme changes, or whatever, let's see what you've done!
I have mine below, I switch between the grayer shade of blue and the darker red. I can't decide which I like more.

is there a way to add colors to the background where "dark" and "light" are just like one the other color accents we can do right now? instead of going in and changing the default ones alone?
would like to know, thanks
Changing the background color is easy. You just need a registry editor such as this and edit the registry key:
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\*\pageBackGroundColor]
* - 1 is dark theme, 0 is light theme
Enter a hex number after #FF, such as #FF40546e for a steel blue.
You may also want to edit these keys:
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\*\Basethemecolor]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\*\TextHighContrast]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\*\TextBackGround]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\*\pageBackGroundColor]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\*\SysTrayBackGroundColor]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\*\TextNeutralColor]
[HKLM\ControlPanel\themes\*\ContrastColor]
Playing around with these should teach you what each changes. To see your changes, switch themes from dark to light and then back or vice versa.

yeah thanks that is really helpfull but is there a way to add an extra menu color like when it says "light" and "dark" lets say create a string in the registry to add another drop down menu inside the theme to get one that one makes like lets say "orange" or whatever and change back to those other "light" and "dark" themes without editing them?
just add another one without touching the old ones?
i will try this though, just wanted to know if this was possible before i moved anything

No you can not add new theme ....Just be aware that messing with registry in that level is danger ..Make a backup first

How did you change the page switcher to the Windows logo? Also nice icon switch. EDIT: Is that a different battery icon as well?
BTW, my phone was featured on 1800pocketpc along with part of my tutorial on how to change your phones background color: http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2011/06...-background-theme-color-on-windows-phone.html

I really dont understand why samsung uses black backgrounds with grey text as their default and only theme.
I dont know if anyone has mentioned it. but its rediculously terrible to read text on the note when you are outside this way.
Email is by far the worst. even with all battery and background savings off and brightness set to max its almost impossible to see the dark grey email list on a black background when you are outside. New emails dont have a color but are white... so its also impossbile to see if you have new emails when you are outside.
How in the hell could samsung came up with this theme. the blue and black first of all is very ugly and its far from user friendly.
Before my note 2 i had an One X from HTC. i changed to the note because of the very good battery usage time. The One X has white backgrounds for all menus, email and sms. wich makes it perfectly readable even outside. also new emails have a blue color while readed emails are black.
I dont understand why samsung has choosen this stupid color themes for their flagships.
And yes you can invert the colors. but its insane how the rest will look if you enable the inverted colors. Its just stupid!

Black colors use less battery.
It's ironic that you switched to Samsung because of the good battery time.
You really think thats ironic?
I think its ironic that HTC has removed the "screen on time" from the battery management tool as from update 4.1. because that way people cant see that their one X has a use time of less then 3 hours.
Also the Phone can heat up to about 60 degrees celcius when playing a game, in wich the screen gets so hot it starts to burn on your finger tips. battery drains from 100 to 0 in less then 30 minutes.
Well this irony is the reason i switched to the note 2. Now i get 8+ hours of use time or around 4 to 6 hours with a total of 24 hours standby.
How ironic you think it is... its allot better!
Black maybe less power consuming but the few minutes you use the email app is nothing compared to the hours you spend browsing the web with a white background. And yet i still can browse the internet for 6 hours on a charge.
So as smart as you think you are, i dont think this white background while reading a few emails will deplete your battery hours faster. But still its terrible anoying that email and sms is just unreadble outside. They should atleast add a function so people can choose for themselves wich background they prefer.
Its really not that strange i think!
Hi
In the web browser you can get black background with white text and then get incredible battery life even if you briwse a lot.
Go accessibilty option and activate the "reversed mode"
Enjoy.

The problem isn't with black screen, but the incredibly stupid grey color fonts though. If you're rooted, obviously flash away some good roms that settles it for you. Annoying but nothing you can't get rid of.
Have you tried negative screen mode when you're out?
You could try K-9 Mail to get rid of the grey font in the Samsung Mail app.
@sygys
I didn't want to provoke you. Cool down.
I know that xposed in combination with some modules should allow you to change some of the statusbar icon colours.....
What I'd ideally like.....
Battery Colour to change from Green to Yellow to Red at determined charge points.
Bluetooth Icon to be Blue
Wifi Network to be one set of colours
3G/4G Network to be a different set of colours
Probably a couple of others I can't immediately think of.
I've google and read over the last few days and while there are some modules that allow some features from the list above there seems little granularity (i.e. I can change ALL the statusbar colours in one module, but not selectively some...) or some don't allow the changes I want at all.
I realise after reading that some of the icons are app installed pics, rather then text graphics and you'd need to change the underlying pic to change the colour.....
But is there a way to do ALL that I want above?
If you're asking why it's simple.....when you're busy and in a hurry the human brain recognises cues from colours far easier and faster then from graphics...we've been wired that way for generations.
HELP!!!
Morning all.
I am trying to make a fancy battery bar widget using 4 progress bars each curved 90 degrees and rotated to make a full circle, and each individual bar only showing a 25% range of the battery level, so bar 1 is 0-24%, bar 2 is 25-49 % etc.
What I'm trying to do now is split the bars into sections depending on the battery level, so when the battery is below 75% but above 50, I want the 3rd section to split into 5 chunks but have the first two bars stay solid... if you get what I mean.
But I've searched and tried to find the Advanced Parameter for progress bar chunks/splits and I cannot find it. The text on the advanced parameter button in Zooper says "...control almost any aspect of this module...", and I'm not bashing, but is this one option not available or have I missed the appropriate keyword from my XDA/Google searches?
Thanks
Wrong thread
@Mokum020
Thanks for the tip I think that's the way to go.
I'll tell you what as well, trying to get the segments lined up with eachother is a PITA!

How about making two progress bars for each section, one solid and one in chunks and show/hide them with the offset parameter at a certain % level:
Solid
Code:
[ox]$#BLEVN#>=75?1000$[/ox]
Chunks
Code:
[ox]$#BLEVN#<75?1000$[/ox]

I thought this was an interesting idea so I built my own version of it, attached. Would like to see the OP's as well if willing to share.
As the OP mentioned getting the segments to line up to the exact pixel/millimeter is easier said than done, but sometimes close enough looks...close enough lol.
quick question. notifications for things like a new outlook email received and whatsapp etc appear as small icons on the front screen. These are easily missed.when i press the icon it then turns into a large notification .
Is there a way of changing a setting so i receive the large notification with detail first on the front screen rather than just a small icon
Yes you can under notification in settings. There you can choose short and detailed. The detailed one is big box notification.
thanks Jake ,was already switched to detailed but you put me on the right path
In case anyone else has the issue , go to Notifications,at the bottom under "Looking for Something else" click notifications (lock screen) then change from icons only to details
