Hey Guys,
New to GNex community..
I was using SGS2 and switched to GNex just yesterday.. quite happy with it..
I have observed that the Page/App scrolling on ICS is not as fast as it was on Gingerbread, especially in Applications like Facebook and few others..
Is this an issue with ICS or is it that the Apps are still not properly compatible with ICS.
any fix or workaround for this ?
Developer options force gpu acceleration

I think if you force gpu it fixes it. I don't even have a nexus so I really don't know for sure. Also its actually an apo thing, once gb apps are updated for ics, the problem will be fixed.

u mean to enable Force GPU rendering ?
will give that a try...
personally i dont find force gpu fixes scrolling for me, it actually makes scrolling worse mostly. Those choppy apps still just need updates i think to ICS like facebook. Perfect example is twitter. It scrolled very choppy and just finally got updated and now smooth like the stock apps.

Twitter was always laggy for me, until I turned on "Force GPU Rendering". Yes the new update fixed it so we don't need to enable this but still.

Same here. This and battery life are the two most debated "problems" with this device. From what I understand 4.0.3/4 are much better in this regard.

Guys, I've owned my Nexus with JB now for some time and had a S2 before..I've never cared much about the performance of Whatsapp but it seems like it's getting worse with every version...for me scrolling through the contacts list or the chat history is laggy as hell...I remember it beeing OK on my Galaxy S2.
Also some people with other phones told me they have no problems with it (but I don't trust them as many of them don't even know what Android is  ).
What's you experience?
Yes, it is laggy and it is obvious that the lag is not caused by the hardware. It is really annoying. They should optimize it for Galaxy Nexus.
?
Scrolls just fine here.
Well isn't whatsapp based on gingerbread? If so, there's your problem. Galaxy Nexus don't like older ver of Android based apps. What you can do is just simply turn on the Force GPU under developer setting. Might get graphical glitches here or there, but worth the smoothness if you're into them

currentyly i'm using super jellybean 8 and wondering if there's an available kitkat android version suitable for daily use
There is currently kitkat roms but based on unofficial cyanogenmod so it's not stable and some things bugged in it.

this is a nice version

Aorp rom 4.4.20
I installed this AORP ROM and it's working fine. You may have troubles with using browser, because it's pretty lagy and internet works very slow and often app browser chrashes. But if you use Chrome instead browser everything works fine and fast. When you reboot phone, you must wait some time, it reboots slowly. Other apps that I have tried are working ok.
I'm not gonna say that this ROM is definetivly stable, it's in beta stage, but for me was until now pretty ok.
I've posted some screenshots...

the browser lag? It is because of chrome webview right? because after using 4,4 on my n7 fhd, the browser is laggier than chrome.

I do not have installed both, browser and chrome. I've tried first the browser and was working slow and had lag. Then I installed chrome and was working ok, in meantime had installed browser and was nothing to see of lag in chrome. Then I uninstalled browser and have just chrome. As you can see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578719&page=8, the troubles with browser are apparently bug in rom.

what i meant was in kitkat, besides eliminating total flash support, google also removed the outdated webkit browsing engine and replaced it with the newer chromium engine. However, this causes performance issues with most browsers except google chrome, obviously. Basically, the aosp browser and others that we loved has been rendered unusable in kitkat. The lag is not caused by having both browsers, it happens because the changes google make to the OS itself.

Sorry, didn't right understand you before. It seems to be so. Before kitkat was no problem with browser.
All of the current releases are base of mikes LegacyXperia nightlies and the only one that is based on the latest release is Halley by HeadFox. ALL of the others are using earlier releases!!!
I'm personally using the latest nightlie from mike, which is from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545354
He's not advertising the releases or updating the thread because he got royally p****d off with people abusing the XDA rules and using a development thread for stupid questions rather than just reading the OP....
Anyway, I've found the releases from him to be the most stable and battery friendly of all the 4.4 releases so far. For the browser issue I just use Opera mini (which I've used for a long time anyway) , there are no random reboots so far, I can get a 12hr shift from one charge, and that is with me sending @10 sms and 3 or so hours on the internet.
I came from SJB8 and I can say that I will not be returning to it!! If the 4.4 I'm using is a beta then a full stable release will be able to make me a coffee when I wake up in the morning too!!!! It's so far advanced from beta in my eyes that I see it as a stable release.....
However, do a backup of your current install and give 4.4 a spin. The only real way to find out if it suits you is for you to try it
Nathan
i try omni rom beta #1.. smooth but i cant capture video..and known bug is glicher on some screen..may be you will try it
I've also tried cm-11.0-20131225-NIGHTLY-LegacyXperia-anzu ROM and it's working fine for me in 2 days. Problem I have found until yet was with browser, the same as in AORP. Now I have tried with Opera Mini browser and it's working without troubles. Until now was this ROM ok and stable for me.
I tried the Comet Halley 4.4.2 rom like 4 or 5 days ago, but it was generally laggy, so I switched to the AORP.
Better performance, much less laggy (but it's still laggy sometimes), also the google search is kinda bugged and, sometimes, when you are scrolling through search results, will block the entire phone for 0.5 - 1 second every now and then.
Reboot works fine (really FAST), reboot into recovery probably doesn't work (blocks the phone, so I always end up removing the battery).
Everything until now was tested with smartassv2, sio, 240-1400 Mhz
in my option is stable rom for now AORP im using this rom about 6 days and runs very good laggy sometimes battery drain is very good try AORP if you dont like it you can test right now is pretty good roms- AOKP kitkat carbonrom kitkat or default CM11 by mike

Hello,
first of all my english is not perfect
I noticed, that my browser (prefer Chrome) heavy lags on pitch to zoom or on scrolling big websites. I used some Roms and Kernels but the problem still exist.
Compared to iOS the browser performance is not good. The Overall performance is smooth, but especially browsing is laggy. Anybody have the same problem?

Thank you! i'm having the same issue and i was afraid it was a hardware defect of my unit
For you does it also happen when you scroll in other apps? specially in the Gallery and in Google Playstore
It is more noticeable when you don't release the screen while scrolling, like.. you keep your finger touching the screen, moving it up and down at "medium" speed
Chrome browser lag depends on internet speed. The lagg you see is basicly an ad or piece of site popping on your screen. Wait 10 seconds and the site should be fully loaded and it shouldn't snt lagg. This is just a chrome thing.
yeah i've noticed it too. i guess it puts to much strain on the cpu. but i was on cm14.1 and the lag wasnt appearing like on freedom os 1.6.1(OOS based)

Nougat helps a hell of a lot... Running the OB9 and for the first time in over 2 years, I'm back on Chrome. I get no lags at all, not even microstutter which was clearly present on marshmallow. Try Chrome Dev also... It's many times faster than the standard Chrome. Now Puffin browser is by far the fastest browser and smoothest scrolling but the app itself is garbage and has adds built in.
Download TugaBrowser (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-tugabrowser-t3472457)
and forget about browser lag.

I made this video to show my problem, is it the same that happens to you?
If any OP3 owner could check it and confirm if this "stutter/lag" is normal, i would really really appreciate it:
Thank you!

See for play store the problem is due to the fact that Google doesn't cache things so it will reload Everytime you open and for the chrome issue try changing rom or browser
I'm using #NoChromo browser, a moded Chromium (basically) and works flawless even on low speed networks. Search for it on XDA and give it a try. Cheers!

Heja folks!
Did somebody notice, that after Nougat update device had become more laggy, for example, lags apps transition when multitasking, lags home button, especially, when waking device on fingerprint. If using some app for a long while, opening another app from recents cause noticeable delay on press, even if this app is still there in memory.
I know the lag perception differes from one to another, but still, I think this lags are really noticeable. I used to set 1,3k/1,3k cores on input boost with 300ms on Mm to get IDEAL fluidness in every situation, now I need to set 1,3k/1,9k with 400ms, but it still lags sometimes. If somebody faced this too, plz respond..
I'm really having trouble. I was deleting some messages from Gmail and the lag was too big!

I'm not really sure, if in app smoothness decreased for me with nougat. Maybe some apps became little more laggy, but another became faster, for example EX kernel manager works really faster, YouTube is smoother. On the other hand Telegram chat transition become crappy, kate mobile is a bit slower when browsing news. So if talking about inapp experience it's fair enough. Something improved, something got ****ty.
But still, multitasking and recent apps became MUCH slower. Maybe it's coz of op **** coding, mb it's coz multiwindow feature, Mb some app is causing this, and maybe it's just my crappy device. Who knows... But if somebody really knows, please answer)
I noticed that if a VPN app is active or the Keeper app, for example, is running in the background, laggy is much bigger!
You could do a clean install, overall custom roms are smoother! We sadly don't have this features since they can cause instability and you won't try that with 7 mil sells
Ofc I did a clean install and tried various custom roms. But still lag persists.

The stock kernel has always been sluggish, and Nougat has been quicker than marshmallow for me, and I'm the type of guy that gets annoyed if there is 1 microstutter. I hate any and all lag so I tend to use performance based tuning and not battery life. Try FreedomOS 2.3 (not the one based on OB11, OB11 sucks a**) with Franco, Blu spark or render kernel (Franco, Blu spark are my favorite) and I guarantee you, all those lags with the multitask button and home button will be gone
Use akt app and use any profile in that according to your usage to remove lag
