need help with FRP on S8+ G955u - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

My daughter recently brought a s8+ from ebay and it came google locked. I have tried combination files with a stock flash but i never expected this to work due to fact the downgrade wouldnt be enough to roll back the security but i was assured a combination file and stock flash would do it. Well it didnt lol and after spending a few days trying to sort this for her i thought it be best if i came and asked for advice. The phone is a S8+ G955U (g955usqu8dud3) any help would be much apreciated.

[Q] 2 years down, My play is jus a psp

Hi all, Its been almost 2 years since i did an OTA update on my play and bricked it. Using the first patch that came out to fix this problem of phone not booting, i "destroyed" the bootloader or something or RadioRom and my phone does not accept any sim. it was originally unlocked.
Has anyone come up with a way to revive the play to make calls or something. cos its really depressing having a phone jus lying there wasting away, only to be brought out when needed for navigation or games.
Someone please helppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
Assuming your radio/sim is in working condition, I don't particularly see how bricking your phone can cause the phone to act like that. Have you tried flashing the stock firmware on again after it was bricked? And have you tried reunlocking the phone and putting on a custom rom/kernel?

about 2 years back, shortly after this phone came out, a problem was noted with OTA updates on unlocked bootloader.
The phone was bought "sim-free" or factory unlocked depending on which nomenclature is correct.
With an unlocked bootloader, the OTA update caused the phone to go dead.
in a haste to get the phone working again, a patch was released which broke the radio rom but got your phone to boot again. i believe the initial patch was released by BLAGUS.
well that killed my radio and now, no sim inserted works.
I reinstalled the stock firmware on it. tried several variants from different regions in the hope that it might work. was getting help from Wazz, Blagus and Bin4ry but seems they've moved on to more important projects now.
2 years ago, I would've brought my phone to the carrier. While your warranty would have been voided, you still should've been able to tell them that it is THEIR fault that it's not working since it was their OTA update that broke the phone. At the very least, they should've been able to get you a discount on a replacement Xperia Play, or at least I think they would have if they wanted to keep a happy customer.

Alright, I understand now. I wish I knew more, so I could help you out.
Was this the patch you used? I believe I used this ftf to relock my bootloader when my phone was bricked after I accepted an OTA update, just as you did. My radio never had any issues, though.. That said, my phone was sim-locked, since I have the R800x, so maybe that has something to do with it..

Hello all, I recently bought a SGN2 from a freind. He never rooted so I thought the phone was up to date firmware wise because it is running 4.1.2. Now recently I have been trying to decide about taking or not taking the OTA (4.3) before root. I have been doing a lot of reading and it seems everyone is coming from I317UCAMA4-- 4.1.2. i am on I317UCAMH3 Huh? And Kies says no support, so do I need to get to MA4 or does it not matter? This post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589891 seems to be the way to go, as I do not want to be locked in to the no backwards thing ,but he is starting at MA4 also. I came from a SGN1 so I never had to think about bootloader before, so any input would be appreciated. Thanks.................

You are on the update that will get you to the 4.3 update from the Settings, About Device, Software Update. If you do the OTA update you will not be able downgrade the bootloader. Which I don't think has been an issue for anyone.
Once you do something "out of the norm" to your phone the Knox security within the 4.3 OS will trip and void your warranty. Like rooting it.
Since you bought your phone from a friend, you probably don't care about that. Most warranty claims that actually get honored are hardware failures, (broken screens due to drops without insurance, not covered, water damage either) phone gets hosed due to OTA over the air update, etc.
If you follow the path on that link you'll be fine.

Bricked Phone When Trying to SIM unlock.

I have an AT&T Note II from the US and I currently live in the Republic of Georgia. I bought it from a friend when my Nokia workhorse finally died after 8 years.
Friend told me about the situation up front and I found that the it was a pretty simple solution, punch in some numbers, get through a couple menus then no prob... except the phone was 4.4.2 and not 4.1.1.
Looked online for a good 4 days and finally decided against my better wishes to try to flash to 4.1.1. Got it done but it got stuck on the pulsating Samsung screen for a ton of time. I made the fateful mistake of pulling the battery to restart it.
It is unresponsive except for a frozen empty battery gif that generally appears before the charging batter gif appears when you connect it to a charger.
Phone will not go into DL or Recovery mode.
Plz help
Where did you get 4.1.1 and how did you flash it?
Try leaving it in the charger for a few hours and try to get into download mode.
I looked in a lot of different places and had troubles getting the file. I encountered a lot of dead links or file sharing sites that had ad loops. After about the 5th or 6th site I found KIES_HOME_I317UCALJ2_I317ATTALJ2_215287_REV04_user _low_ship.tar.md5 . but I dont recall from where exactly.
I popped it in using Odin as instructed by the many guides that are on the internet.
I am now able to get it to boot through all four splash screens (Note II -> samsung -> AT&T -> samsung) and now it is stuck on the pulsating Samsung for as long as I allow it.
Any tips on what to do next?
Was the phone factory reset after flashing with Odin?
If the phone was running a 4.3 or newer bootloader, flashing an older bootloader or an incompatible bootloader/modem combination can hard brick the phone.
Att never released a full firmware for the phone after 4.1.1 so you need to be selective as to what can be safely flashed.
You need to find a flashable stock kk ROM.
I was able to get a 4.4.2 and reflash it to the original state. It is still SIM locked though.
If the phone is an sgh-i317 and it is not running 4.1.1, you'll have to unlock using a code from either the carrier or an unlocker.
There is no free method.
Im in Georgia and never used the said carrier so their support is reluctant to help me.. I tried flashing the 4.1.1 and that soft bricked it in the first place. Do you know of any good unlock software?
I don't know of any free software to unlock the phone.
Did you ask for an unlock code here: https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/request/#/unlockstep1
Another way is to buy an unlock code from eBay.

Where is G891AUCU4CRH1 available to download?

I haven't use this site in many years so I apologize if this isn't the correct spot. I tried searching all over for an answer..
I got a brand new S7 off of eBay. The firmware that came on it was somehow messed up, even though it was in a factory sealed box. There were many odd things missing, including the option to OTA. I contacted Samsung and they remotely accessed the phone and confirmed that my software was jacked. Since the phone was new but old, it was out of warranty. Oddly, enough the guy suggested I flash new firmware myself, but would not provide a link. AT&T then told me that they can't flash software and don't even have it... it can only be done by FOTA, lol.
Google led me to a factory firmware. I flashed it via Odin and all was good. I then did the numerous OTA updates until I have the newest 8.0 and security patch.
Now my stupidity comes in... My Bluetooth and Wifi did not work well. My Wifi range sucked and my Bluetooth wouldn't see certain devices. Like an idiot, I figured a CP flash would help it. I flashed an older CP and bricked the phone. I scoured the internet and could not find the newest firmware.
I haven't flashed firmware in years and I should have read up more before doing so. My phone currently works but I hate the version I have as it's oddly different than the 8.0 firmware I got via FOTA. It was the only one I could find online that had the same baseband version that I currently had (G891AUCU4CRH1).
From my understanding, this newest firmware can't be downgraded so I'm stuck trying to find the actual AT&T FOTA update. Is this correct?
If anyone can let me know where to find it, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Sam
Edit.. dumb me just needed to flash the CSC as well.
Found my own answer. Please delete this thread.
I'll upload the CRH1 files and post a link for you guys. I just flashed and can confirm it works for me.
Hi , can you post link for the update please.

G960U

Hi, I recently bought an s9 sm-g960u from eBay. I'm based in the UK. The phone is not receiving updates and I've been told my Samsung that this is because it originated from outside the EU. If I want to update it it looks like my best option is Odin and I've looked through the tutorials on how to do so.
I'm just wondering if anyone can help with a couple of questions I still have. Given that I'm in the UK, can anyone recommend a firmware to flash to which will enable auto updates? Or am I stuck manually updating via odin each time?
Also, what are the risks involved, say if the usb port fails halfway through the update. Will this brick the phone?
Sorry for the novice questions I'm just trying to weigh up what to do!
