Hello,
I was rooted on MIUI 12 before the 12.5 update and I have recently updated to 12.5 but I had some magisk modules installed which lead to some malfunction post update (non-rooted).
I tried the recommended method by magisk (Patch ROM's boot img and flash it with fastboot) but I keep getting into bootloops, did anyone root post MUI 12.5 and was able to bypass this issue or used a different method which worked?
Thanks in advance
Unfortunately, any modification may lead to bootloop as per now.
Try to downgrade to 12.0.7, install twrp, use something to uninstall magisk module there, and flash 12.5.1 back. Don't boot to system before flashing miui 12.5.1
even just disabling verity of the vbmeta = bootloop

Just bought note 5 pro and did the incremental update and I am currently running on 9.2.13(Android N) Just Now I got new update 9.5.19 Kinda heard of anti roll back and all. Considering if I want to install various Roms and mods should I not update it ? Since this update directly pushing me from 9.2.13 to 9.5.19 not via 14 I won't have Oreo ( treble ) what should be next step for getting treble support and not having anti roll back ?
1)Updating to Miui 9.5.19 only restricts you from going back to older version of Miui firmware (say the 9.5.14 version). You could still flash custom roms by booting twrp from fastboot and then flashing it in the twrp.
2)Also the fastboot commands will be blocked by updating to 9.5.19, you'll have to flash arbypass.img provided in another thread to unlock them every time, before using the commands.
3) Again, you CAN still flash custom rooms and mods by booting twrp, or flashing it after flashing arbypass.img from this thread ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/how-to/index-everything-anti-roll-t3816219)

What if I want to try a MIUI 10 beta? If I install it, I won't ever be able to install a previous MIUI 9 stable version? And if I install custom ROMs after updating to MIUI 9.5.19, can I easily go back to MIUI 9.5.19 (or latest version of MIUI)? Does this anti rollback **** make you always flash the latest MIUI there is or newer version? What if I'm stuck in a beta? Jesus this is ridiculous, I already regret buying this phone even though it hasn't arrived yet.

You have to unlock bootloader, flash twrp recovery, enable hal3(this can be done in many ways. For example, if you root your device with magisk, you can flash the camera2api command from magisk's repository).
You can move to 9.5.13 or 9.5.17 (both are ARB3 but Oreo and much optimized for GCam) and then do the steps mentioned by @kostas gp
Hey there,
I have a Xiaomi Mi5S device and i have rooted my device systemless with Magisk.
Now for the question, if i update miui via the system updater , will it success or should i do something else?
It doesn't matter if i lose root or magisk.
Thanks from now.
P.S.: I have xposed framework installed too.
I recently updated my device to miui pie. Earlier i was using rooted miui oreo with redfox twrp.
After updating i'm unable to root it with magisk. Tried 19.2, 19.1. Both these versions giving bootloop. Tried 18.1, it boots but says magisk missing.
So i'm left with custom recovery, unlocked bootloader and no root access.
Any help?
Sorry For Your Loss..

Sorry To Read You've Seemed To Have Lost The Ability To Gain Root Access..
But.. I do want to thank you for answering my question.. and saving me from creating a thread.
And to those that are wondering.. Yes.. I still own the device.
There are so many GREAT new devices dropping at what seems like an "All at Once" pace.. and so many devices on sale (S9's & Note 9's are high on my list) that I've dropped down a gear.. so that I may choose my next device based on a Series of Conditions..
I can tell you this BB.. 10.3.1.0 Oreo runs FANTASTIC and rooted easily with Magisk 16.6....
I'd give that version a try even being locked into Pie.. I'll just keep this on 10.3.1.0 Oreo.. and let the new owner make the hard choice.. Good Luck Sir !

Try to flash magisk uninstaller and then flash magisk (installer). You can install a custom rom, and if you like miui, there are many miui-based roms, like xiaomi.eu
Hello xda. I'm thinking about rooting my note 9 pro.. I have the EEA firmware version latest Android 12 update.
V13.0.1.0.SJZEUXM
I'm thinking about grab the boot.img from the firmware, patch it via Magisk and flash it using fast boot. I mean without twrp. Will it be possible for this phone and this android version? I rooted my mi 8 lite this way and it work like a charm no twrp needed. Did you ever tryed this way to root your note 9?
I mean I can't find a stable twrp version.. Especially for Android 12 .
So if i try the method mentioned above will it work? I don't really need twrp for anything. Only need root.
Yes, if you simply follow the official Magisk install guide by TopJohnWu (patching the boot.img with the latest Magisk app and flashing it via fastboot - no need for recovery) it will work. In case you have to use apps which need SafetyNet (running on the official ROM).. that's a whole different story.. then you will need USNF, too, etc..
On MIUI 12 (Android 11) my phone was rooted with Magisk, I updated MIUI and of course the phone got unrooted, I redid the whole boot.img Magisk patching thing and tried installing Magisk, but now it doesn't work, I went around trying a bunch of different TWRP, including unofficial ones, nothing seems to be working.
