Archos 7 Home Tablet
This is an android tablet, supposed to be running android 2.1, ad the adlilb marketplace, which is an android marketplace for the tablets.
Anyway, looking at the tabs, i cant spend the money to get the samsung galaxy tab.
Trying to see if this is even worth getting. its not really for work, more of a play kinda thing. Ive looked into it, not at good as any others out there, but looks like it could do the trick.
Also does anyone know if it will be modable, maybe i could find a way to get a custom rom.
Is hot and cheap but u can also get the viewsonic g tablet wit da nvidia tegra 2..cyanogen got a rom for it too..
You're better off getting the 70 Internet Tablet. Runs 2.2, about to be rooted (hopefully), thinner, lighter, better tablet. The home is old.
I searched, but couldn't find a similar thread.
Any opinions on the Samsung Omnia W?
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_omnia_w_i8350-4200.php
It will be released in India at a price of Rs.19,999/- (Approx USD 400/-)

I am tempted by this phone, waiting for official market release and feedback before taking the plunge.
This is aggressive pricing for Samsung in India, it should help in establishing Windows Phone 7 in India as long as there is proper advertising and marketing to let people know that it exists.
Hopefully Nokia will follow Samsung's lead and also price their WP7 offerings competitively?
It has only 8 GB of memory.. and with no zune pass service india it means you cant stream music.. only to download and store music to play it.. you cannot expand this memory using SD slot or anything.. think about it.. do you wanna get stuck with 8GB where my system memory has already taken like 6GB with a few apps and like Xbox 10 games...
I use omnia 7 16GB and i have now only 4.5 GB remaining and am constantly deleting old tracks to save space..
i have that one sure the space is a problem when you can jailbreak, but until now, i haven't get any solution. the space is not a problem since i sync all days.
i have focus also with more space, course, but not 4g no front cam no 1.4ghz
Hello guys,
ah another one waiting for the Omnia W I'm currently sporting my old but well-functioning HTC Elf. And I think I'll keep it as navigation system in my car when it gets replaced. And although it gets the job down I can feel it becoming older and slower from day to day. So i decided to jump to WP7. However I'm still waiting for affordable devices. As a student, my budget is limited and i want to spent around 300-400 € for my new mobile phone. At the moment there are the HTC Radar and the Omnia W more or less announced around this price. But the Radar seems ugly and I'm not really convinced by its specs. However I've heard quite some praise for the Omnia 7 so I'm assuming that the W will have a comparable build-quality. However 8GB is not much and I'm hoping that Nokia will announce their devices really soon. But at the moment I'm going for the Omnia W
Regards
Chris
I use a galaxy note 2 myself and I put it to its full use however my wife has been using my galaxy s3 and has decided its too expensive to use to text, facebook , ring and whatsapp so im on the look out for a new phone for her and of course my beloved (well second beloved) galaxy s3 will be recycled for £250 as I cant be bothered with the hassle of ebay
I have looked at the following she is more concerned with text , voice and battery than all bells and whistles
Nokia Lumia 610 - I haven't used a windows phone before but am on windows 8 on my pc and both my wife and I like the metro style
LG Optimus L5 - bigger screen and on android
Galaxy ACE - once again android
I really don't know what to get her .. all phones are sub £10 per month as she doesn't want to fork out for a payg but also doesn't want to pay a lot (at present she is on 3 on a bolt on to my account and pays £8 for 200 mins, 5000 text, 2000 3-3 minutes and all you can eat data)
3 however wont come in less than £10 for a handset unless its the crappy htc wildfire s or some other horrendous phone
Which do you think is best , I know this is on a windows 7 part of xda but I hoping for some ideas
Thanks

if at all possible strongly suggest buying a phone outright and get what you can afford, then get the cheapest SIM only contract you can get your mits on.
Failing that im not sure about the 610, but the 710 had pretty shoddy battery life, if she only wants it for phone functions as you suggest in my humble opinion shes better off with the WP, NOTHING beets WP out of the box for phone related features, its only when you expand on that to encompass traditional computer related tasks as well that it gets more complicated.
I am interested in upgrading from a 2012 to a 2014 edition.
Can some of you please comment on reviews that say there is "sluggish" performance with the 2014 (I would get a 600 wifi model).
Also - is there a performance difference between the 16GB and 32GB models.
I would use the expansion slot.
The only sluggish thing I've found with my wifi only 32g model is waking up. It takes a few seconds, maybe 2 or 3, to wake which is slower than my previous tablet. But once it wakes up, it's a great tablet. And if you use the S Pen feature, nothing comes close.
From what I understand, the sluggishness you've read about was from the version of Android the Note launched with, or perhaps a first update. I got mine after the first few updates and I've never experienced the stuttering the reviews talked about.
I've had mine for 7 or 8 months and I still love it!
I bought note 2014 around 8 months ago, i use it everyday, and it doesn't feel smooth but its powerful, its hard to explain for example:
My friends same year nexus feels smoother in menu ,but demanding games which lags in his device works good on mine, also note has really fancy long interface animations for example if you slide from one screen to another that sliding animation is long and it feels slow, but you can go to dev options (without rooting) and make it play twice faster.
Also if you don't plan to play with rooting and roms, don't forget Samsung forgets about their devices in 1year or two, device is now on android 4.2.2 i think , and it can be last official update.
all in all it doesnt feel perfect and maybe now where is better options for similar price i don't know but when i bought it friends said its slow and blah blah , and at the moment i can run every game i want and a lot off my friends with similar age devices sits where and enjoys their smooth screen unlocking animations.
edit:
pay attention that note WiFi is slower it has different cpu then lte version
Verizon is offering the new LG G Pad X at reduced price of $49.99 if you buy a LG G4. For $10/mo add'l to your current plan it can be added and get's full time LTE, 4g and 3G that you share with your phone's data plan. Sound like an amazing deal, but I'm worried this tablet is junk spec wise and will be sluggish and a pain to use for anything other than low bandwith surfing and reading books.
So unfortunately, I can't find any information on this new G Pad X. I think it has a Snap 615 Octa-core, but I read somewhere it only has 1 gig of RAM down from the original G Pad that 2gb of RAM. Has anyone taken advantage of this Vzw special and played with this tablet?
I have the tablet, it's working great so far. Hoping this weekend to try a few things to root it since it is still 5.0. It is a 615 offshore, with 1884 megs ram and 9.33 gigs available storage when clean (16 gig total with system, etc). All this verified in cpu-z. Full size usb port is nice. Battery is great... I'm at 28 h on, one hour screen on time almost all gaming kotor, and at 69%

That's great to hear. I'm guessing it isn't a powerhouse of a tablet but for 50 bucks it's a steal!
Can you let me know if you run into any hiccups with it?
I do a little online gaming with my phone but I'd love to switch over to a 8" tablet!
The only real complaint so far is that the time to rotate the screen seems excessive... But everything else had been butter smooth. A decent replacement for my nexus 7 2013. Wish it had more storage, but with an sd slot and a full size usb, that's not a big deal at all
Yeah I went ahead and got it. And I'm really loving having the LTE service on it instead of just wifi and it's been surprisingly smooth. Also to answer my earlier concern, it does have 2gb of RAM, not 1.

One hour screen on time and at 69%? That's pretty horrendous for a tablet.
An hour of 3d gaming, and 30 hours almost off the charger. That's way better than my nexus 7 wifi ever did
I haven't been paying close attention to battery life because I knew it had the 4800mAH, although now that I think about it, I did a moderate to heavy use day yesterday with it and had to put it on the car charger around 6pm. I started my day around 9am at 100%. At work today so really won't use it that much, just at lunch. I'll see how it holds up.
In general I really like it coming from an ASUS 10" T100. An 8.3" is a much better size for me as far as handling it. Also it's not quite as pretty as a new galaxy tab screen but it friggin blows my ASUS away. It's also very snappy and gaming and surfing have been basically studderless. I haven't researched it yet, but I wonder if there's any benefit to having a LG G4 and G-Pad.... you would think LG would have some kind of sync option other than just the android standard stuff like email, contacts, messaging, google play.

There's the Qpair app, that lets you see/respond to notifications from your phone on the tablet. Worked with my g3 before shipping it back, so not exclusive to g4, but nice still.
Yea I have a LG 7" tablet with a SD 400, Nexus 7 2013, a Winbook with windows, and now the X8.3.
I haven't touched it yet outside of general factory reset and setup since I've been playing with my G4. Work bought it so I can juggle tasks when I travel.

Its rootable btw using the LG rooting COM procedure.
(crap meant to edit not quote)
I walked into my local Verizon store with the hopes of trading in my iPhone 4S for a Droid Turbo 2. I found out that I didn't have to pay anything upfront for the phone I wanted. As I was about to leave the store already over the moon with the Turbo 2 the sales person asked me what I planned to do with the iPhone 4S and I replied "Nothing, I had no plans for it". He then told me that I could trade it in for a FREE tablet and he showed me the LG G Pad X 8.3. I jumped on the offer due to the size and stylus. I have been using it for about a month and I can say that for a free tablet it is pretty good. The screen is vibrant and clear and the speakers sound average. I have ran into what I call "LG Lag" where there are moment when the tablet gets stuck for time and kind of bogs down, sometimes with very little or no apps running. The full size USB port on the top is a nice feature but I thought I would be using it a lot more then I do. The battery life is good for the size of the power pack, giving me sometimes a full day of medium to heavy use. I am happy with this tablet but I find myself using my phone more then the tablet for games and "YouTubing" due to the slight lag I get sometimes. I feel like I can be very productive with this tablet but have yet to really test it as my "laptop replacement".
Conclusion: It's worth what I paid for!
Yea sweet tab.
I think the lag is a LG thing. My G4 was laggy until the recent update from Verizon. Now it screams.
The Tabs dont really get updates as often. So maybe the next update will fix the software. The 615 chip should not be seeing lag. I think they have some rogue background process or something because it randomly does it.
My screen has a very reddish tint to it and pretty bad screen bleed. I almost want to do a warranty swap just to find a better one but it works for what I use it for.
I have a root method up for the X8.3
