Question MIUI 12.5.1 App default notification sounds / alerts missing - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

I have been using my POCO F3 for 1 month and I haven't been able to figure out how to set the default notification sounds to basic apps like Facebook, WhatsApp or Outlook. I want their notifications to sound with the default sounds, not a personal or system default one. It's annoying to listen all apps with the same sound notification.

I have mi 10t pro and have the same issue.
To solve it i just delete app data but this is terrible solution

Hi,
I hope I understand the problem. If you go into the individual app settings there you will also find the option to set the alert sound.

Yes, every app has the individual settings but they take the general sound alert configured to the phone in settings. That's the problem, actually.

I found a solution to this issue but I cannot execute it without rooting my phone: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads...one-locale-and-online-playing-possible.61462/

I was able to do it, go to the Xiaomi themes app, then profile, then settings and un select "use theme ringtones" only downside is that you will have to clear data of affected apps in orde to work .

Sorry I didn't understand, do you mean that for every app I want to set a sound I have to delete all the data for that app?

That is correct. I ended up resetting the phone, then first thing to do unable "use theme ringtones" and finally start downloading all my apps.

1. Set notif to none. 2.set each app with sound you like.

Choose which apps show up in Gallery sharing menu?

I will never use the Messages app to send a picture (yes, never. I don't have an SMS plan) so I'd like to be able to remove it from the sharing list from the Gallery. Is there any way to choose which apps show up in that sharing list?
Thanks.

Only by removing the apps. You could go into the Messaging App Info page, and Disable it. As a warning, though, Messaging is one of the core OS apps, and disabling it could possibly cause instability. I've never had any reason to try it, but just keep it in mind in case you have issues; you can always re-enable it.

Any idea if this is the kind of thing a custom ROM could enable: choosing which apps show up in the menu?

Anything's possible; that could certainly happen. I don't see it as being a very widely anticipated feature, though. Just out of curiosity, I'm not sure if you noticed, but after you've used the sharing menu a few times, it shows only your top 3 apps (technically 2nd, 3rd, and 4th) that you've used for sharing, and then a "See All..." button below it. Also, your foremost sharing app will show up as an icon to the right of the sharing icon. Example below, with imgur, Messaging, Kik, and Gmail.

Just use Quickpic is is really good. I use it as my main gallery. Also has the option to hide stuff.
Thanks for the ideas.

[Q] Independent Notification Sound Control

Is there any way to adjust notification tones and/or volumes independently? I am sick of getting woken up in the middle of the night from emails and facebook updates but I don't want to disable sms notifications.
Thanks

Brings this up.
Allows you to adjust ringer, notifications, media volume separately.

He doesn't want all notifications disabled.
You can control each notification and sound level from within the app itself.
Yeah. I guess I could disable it in the app. Unfortunately its a pain in the ass to do because its like 5 screens deep to get to those setting in my work email app. What I was really hoping for was a way to automate it with tasker to mute only my email and facebook notifications but no sms.

Well if you had Tasker run your notification sounds (example: sms profile that plays the sms notification sound when you receive an sms). You could then make some profiles, like an @ night profile, that would turn off all the sound profiles except sms @ night.
You'd still have to select the silent notification for all the notification in settings > sounds or go into each application's settings and select silent notification for each of the apps you care to control. But, you'd only have to do that once as soon as tasker is in control of your notification sounds.

ok this is something totaly different. Maybe you have too high volume or something? using bluetooth or any other hearing devices? I have no idea what the hell that is lol. Has to do something with sounds. One thing we can try for you is to go to settings - accessibility and see if you have any services installed, and play with settings there. My guess is that it has something to do with options for people with special needs

Question Individual app nofications issues? (non system tones)

Just upgraded to the Poco F3 from Mi 9T pro (which was on Android 10 miui 12) and have just noticed that when i select a personal notification tone (a non sytem notifcation tone) the tone does not work - When i get a notifcation it vibrates but there is no sound - Swap the notication to one of the system tones and works fine!!
Now i had a number of different apps with personal tones setup on my previous phone (email, ring doorbell, sms etc) and they all worked fine - but despite setting it all up the same way (folder location etc) they just don't work at all on my Poco F3
Anyone have the same issues (has anyone tried lol) - is this a Poco F3 issue or the only other difference is Android 11 rather the 10 (maybe they need to be saved in a different folder than previous andriod version?
FYI - Personal Ringtones and alarms work fine BTW - is just notication tones which is an issue
Go to settings, notifications, app notifications. Click on the app for which you want to change the notification tone. Select a notification category. For example, I am in the message notifications category for whatsapp in the provided screenshot. As it can be seen, I can change the tone by clicking the "sound" button. Try changing it from here and then check if it works or not.

Hi.
Yeah can change the tones no problems, i can select any system or personal tone and it saves the changes ok (ie for sms I can select a personal tone where Yoda says 'a message of text you have" for example) but when I get a text it just vibrates, selected tone will not sound.
However doing the same but selecting any preinstalled notification tone it works fine
Try applying the tone from the settings inside the messages app. Other than than i have no suggestions sorry bro
Thanks - Doesn't make any difference, each of those methods all takes into the same place to select tone anyway.
Anyone else been able to apply a downloaded notification tone ok?

Question Google Messages no longer sounds an audible notification

Somewhere in the last few weeks I have lost the audible tone when a new message arrived on my 6 Pro. It worked and then I noticed I was no longer hearing my chosen tone.
I have been through all of the settings (** I THINK **) and found nothing suspicious. I don't recalling changing any settings. I have changed the tone (mp3) that I used and that did not bring back the audible tone. I have to be frank, finding where to set the tone was a bit of a challenge. I picked a tone in my own Ringtone Folder on the phone. But then I even moved a tone or two to other folders and tried selecting from a different folder in case that would fix things - it did not. Still no tone.
It is a bit of a problem as TEXT messages are supposed to be quick but if you don't know you got one, NOT SO QUICK.
I have restarted Messages and restarted the phone. No change. I cleaned the cache, too.
Any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
Stupid question, but did you check system s

ounds?
Yes. My phone rings.
But I now realize I'm not hearing email arrivals either. And I played music just yesterday. I don't think my sound it being shunted to any bt devices.
Using custom notification (non default) has been a hit and miss affair on my p6p since the day I got it. Sometimes works sometimes doesn't - I've give up trying to find the cause.
Try this ( AOSP messaging )
Sorry for the names of the files being not in English language. but that dark green bubble with an smile is an messaging app.
( There an AOSP calendar too, contacts too, even an clock app.
Found the issue with help from Android Forums. It was a setting in the Watch app on the phone in the Notification area. You can turn on/off notifications on the phone. But I don't recall changing those so possibly an update changed something or I was sleep walking or setting!
I did look at alternate Messaging apps. I tried Chomp but it has the same problem - probably because of that same setting.

I couldn't figure it out. Been dealing with it for two weeks. I updated my phone and didn't bother re-rooting the system cause i couldn't figure it out. Thanks, now got to re-root it again. Thanks I can't stress how happy i am.
to silent or vibrate.
Check the app's notification settings: Go to the app's settings and make sure that notifications are turned on and that the sound option is enabled.
Clear the app cache: Sometimes clearing the app cache can help resolve issues with notifications. Go to your phone's settings, select Apps, then find Google Messages and clear the cache.
Restart your phone: Sometimes a simple restart can fix notification issues.
Uninstall and reinstall the app: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling the app and then reinstalling it from the Google Play Store.
If none of these steps work, you may want to reach out to Google Support for further assistance.
