I was clearing out my messages yesterday but by mistake I deleted all of them ,
Does anyone know of a way to recover messages? Are they in a trash area on the Andriod disk somewhere or some app that will recover them for me ?????
I'm fairly sure that unless you did a backup, they are gone.
So I accidentally deleted the 'data' in the contacts storage app and found out that all the contacts, including the phone contacts were gone :crying: . My phone is completly stock. I had a backup taken about a week back through this method, so I thought it'll be all fine if I just restore the backup. When I did restore from this backup I had, the contacts were NOT restored . I do not have any other backups. Please Help.
contacts are not sync'd to your google account?

I have Note 5110 wireless that was working perfectly. Then my Note 8 updated to 4.2.2, And apparently I am another victim of what seems to be a common problem. I am now missing the sidebar and split screen functions and the Pencil function. I have tried suggested means other than a Factory Reset. In order to do a factory reset I need to do a Backup. I am trying to figure out how to get my missing functions back.
I had to figure out how to put the Note in PTP mode to connect to the Helium Console on my desktop computer which took a while, but got it done.
I installed the Helium App and easily did a complete backup to my 32Gb External SD card. The backup function on the Note says it will delete everything, but does that include the External SD card as well or do I need to remove the SD card?
My question is I don't understand, how to the backup restore is done after the Factory Reset, as the Helium App on my Note will be gone. If someone knows the process your help would be greatly appreciated.
Auto Backup was on and it said the backup was stored on my Gmail address but I could not figure that one out. I guess Google has it stored somewhere, But I did not want to take a chance, hence the Helium App.
Thanks to the Gurus for any help! Or any other suggestions.

Just download Kies and do the backup, then do the Factory reset. Your sdcard data won't be deleted.
After reset, open kies again and there will be a restore option, and you are going to recover your data.
Hi,
My old OPO phone was water damaged, and I've just received an Oneplus 3 as a replacement. Unfortunately, when I try and restore my whatsapp chats from my backup on google drive, it detects the backup (about 500mb in size) but then gives an error message “Unable to restore your chats from this backup” and then offers only to restore a very old backup. I have lots of photos and messages that I need access to and want on my phone.
Has anyone come across this problem and/or has a solution?
One thing I thought might be causing the problem was that I temporarily used a data only sim card in Japan in my old OPO when it was damaged. Could this be causing a problem?
Thank you for any help you can give.
As an update. I skipped the restore and then went into the menu settings to restore. It went slowly through the restore, and looked liked all 522mbs were restored. I can see picture files on my device now, but on whatsapp only empty groups are shown. All my chats are missing. Any help would be so much appreciated.
Hello,
I'm trying to recover some deleted text messages off my phone. I tried a dozen windows programs without any luck. Is there an easy way to scan the files on the phone and pull deleted text messages? Usually Easeus is my go to for data recovery but that software wants me to use kongo root; research shows me that is only good to android 5.0 and this is running 8.0
I tried google, youtube, etc so I'm guessing I'm out of luck.
Any options for me out there?
Sorry for the delayed reply. As I know, most such recovery softwares need us to root our phones first. Then we can use them to help us scan out the deleted text messages and recover them back. Please remember to stop using your phone when the text messages deleted without backup. Cause if they are overwritten, there is no way to recover them back. Of course, if there is a backup of the deleted text messages, you can recover from backup files directly.
