Question Lose type c port - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

Hello I have found that every f3 I get has an incredible lose type c port , where if the charger is plugged in I can move it up and down by about 5mm. I keep sending them back to Amazon but everyone one of them has this issue.
Am I just being unlucky or is this how it was designed
Many thanks in advance

I hadn't noticed this however my charging port has some wiggle. I think this might be part of the design. I don't find it an inconvenience

Thank you for the fast reply!
Yes I think that is the better way of describing it, it does have some wiggle. I was just worrying about it breaking a little further down the line.

Same Here.. haven't noticed it until now. This is 100% normal i think

Same here with my F3 (and my wife's gingko and my daughter's citrus, too).
IMHO I think it's by design.

Mine has a bit of wiggle, nothing significant though. I think the reason it wiggles a bit is because of the Type-C receptacle design, it doesn't accept the plug completely, the image I attached is the connector of the Poco F3 charging port and as you can see it is very shallow and the middle part sticks out more.

Ahhh I see , that makes sense! Thank you for the detailed view! I was trying to find a teardown view of the phone as well to see if there was any obvious sign why it would wiggle. You have found it I think!!

Well ... I was scared at first to turn it on but all went well, so I figured I would share.
If you do this yourself you have to be very carefull, the components are a lot more cramped than most.

Also a good view if you want to see internals ... not sure if this has been posted yet but I am too lazy to look =0)
I used the palm touchstone and the cover for a palm pre.
Edit :: Pictures were too large, I just linked to a public album, enjoy
Very sweet. I love these kinds of mods.
Very nice. Seems pretty straight forward. I've been wanting to do that for a while but I like my BB warranty...

That is crazy! I ordered the palm pre inductive charging on amazon for $10 dollars 2 days ago, to do the exact same thing.
Good luck! The glass is a bit touch to separate from the outside ... easiest way was to find a place at the glass edge to slip your nail into and patiently work your way around pulling and pushing ... and then make sure you have a nice sharp tip for your soldering iron because it is a VERY tight squeeze ... not just the pins but on the other side of the pin there is also an IC that is close.
It works great ... my only sad thing was that you have to use an AC plug with the touchstone it wont work via USB ... im curious if it would work with those charging mats though. You also should use the 30 gauge wire because it is even tight with that! Let me know if you need anything
What about using flat wiring? It seems like a better idea and it might fit better on that compartment. Of course, there is the issue with cost but it would look nicer.
EDIT: It might be a bad idea if it requires soldering since the cable itself could be destroyed by the heat when soldered to the terminal. From what I see most flat wiring is used in a connector rather than soldered directly to the board.
dont see why not, this was a quick trip to radio shack type of thing =0P
The touchstone wont work off of my laptop USB ... you have to use the ac adapter, but it works perfect in my truck hooked up to my zune FM modulator's usb port ... I'm growing more and more fond of it ... its nice to pick upt he phone for a call and not have to deal with wires ... also the charging stone set in my center console props up the phone very nice for viewing incoming call information or whatever you are using.
The only downfall for me is that when searching about the touch stone it doesn't appear to work with the mA output of a regular USB port ... but it isnt too big of a deal as it is on my desk.
Awesome man, I was thinking about doing this as well. Those pics should save me a bit of time searching for pin outs

Not sure that I'll try this but very cool. Thanks for the pics! Glad people out there are still trying new things.
I have a power matt for my Evo 4g. I used it for about a week then put itnon a shelf to collect dust. It charged my at such a slow rate that it took nearly 6hours for a full charge. With a regular cord it only took 2 hours.. I wonder if they reason power matt didnt make one for this phone is because they charge phones so slowly? I see it as a "cute" thing for a phone but not that functional or worth the $ it costs. HOWEVER! if it charged at the same rate uo 800mAh or so like a wal charger it would be pretty cool. This mod does look bad ass! Do you guys know what the charge rate is? Sweet mod amd keep up the good work guys!

I had a Pre and several touchstones before I had this phone. The touchstone definitely needs 1000 mA (1A) of current to work. USB ports on your computer, and also most chargers, will only output 500 mA. Gotta have that solid juice, mon.

What about combining two USB ports? I have seen some mini USB adapters that carry 2 USB connectors precisely for this reason.
Mr. ManiacMagic, you sir get the big balls award for the week.

I wouldnt think so. The input to where I soldered to is the same thing as plugging in a USB cable, I think it goes through some conversions b4 making its way all the way to the bat terminal. I guess you would have to check the voltages and current with a multimeter, but I would think they are different. If you can I wasted a lot of time lol.
this actually has me curious i might try it on an old battery/phone ... bc if you can then you would just be able to modify your battery pretty much.

I don't think this is a good idea since the battery would be charging all the time (no charging limitation/temperature monitoring) and it could lead to overheating the battery/killing it/exploding.
Let us know what u find be I buy the kit

Loose mini USB port

I just noticed my mini USB port is fairly loose that when the usb cable is angled at a particular direction charging stops.
I tried the same cable at two other phones and no problem. I visually inspected the port and it seems the metal that surround and supports the mini usb broke at the side making the top and bottom part separate from each other. It makes the port not a snug fit but a losse fit... And so I wonder if anyone else had this issue? I've only had my S3 for a few months and I use it roughly the same as my old phones (yes, I do use it while charging) and they didn't have this problem... Is it really that easy to break or do I seem to be mistreating it?
Note: The small pointy thing is ok, so I can still charge and do other stuff. Only issue is that it's a loose fit.

I was just dealing with this last night. It may be a little flimsy. Hopefully it doesn't get worse
I know... If it gets worse, I hope I don't get caught somewhere having unable to flash a stock rom via odin... To claim a clean warranty... Afterall, the damage is on the hardware and can be seen outside
Is it the original cable? I know my charger cable is stupid loose but my USB cable is fine.

If it is actually damaged, why not get a replacement now?

I'll have to check with Wireless Wave where I bought the phone... Because it's either they send it for repair which would take weeks and they'd give me a crappy temporary phone... Or if I'm lucky replace it on the spot... Which I doubt... So I'll have to weigh in the options... It's not much of an issue right now but pretty sure it will be soon enough so I have to ask them soon... I'm just doing some poking around to see if other people experience this as well if it's a fairly "common" issue then they might give me a replacement if I tell them fixing wouldn't help because it may just happen again.

Loose fitting charge cable?

My phone so far is been great. Whenever I plug in a cable the OEM cable it came with or a Nexus 6p cable it does not fit very tightly and you can almost wiggle the cable back and forth maybe an eighth of an inch. I work in a kind of hazardous conditions job and I don't want to make something that's not that great worse. But I don't know if this is normal this may very well be. Does anyone else have a charge port that feels not very tight almost loose and they plug in their type c cable? How is your charge cable port?
Mine is normal, no wiggle whatsoever.
No
Slightly, but no issues charging etc.

Same here, mine wiggles a little, but not a lot, and it charges fine. I was actually wondering about this as well, but it does seem OK now and (if you got your phone from Google) we've all got 2 year warranties on our phones now in case that gets worse.

I heard certain things are not covered under warranty like burn in. They say that's just normal for the device I read an article yesterday about it can't remember what but essentially what I just said they'll say it's not covered under the warranty. So I hope they will not say the charge port was my fault or not covered under warranty but irregardless I can change it myself I guess. I have like 4 or 5 days left until I can return it. 14 days

Charging port a little loose?

My charging port works fine, cable plugs in fine, but it is not firm, moves a little left and right inside the phone, doesn't lose connection or anything. Is this a problem that anyone had or have right now? Phone hasn't been dropped or anything. Talking to OP support about this. Just curious if anyone has this!
Yep, I've had this since day one, Never had an issue with it, though.

Good to know. I might sell my phone and just want to make sure it is not just me!
I think it is intentional, checkout JerryRigEverything teardown video on YouTube. USB port is seated on rubber oring.
I feel like the dash cable is a bit looser and less tight compared to other cables (Anker powerline+ for example)
There is a bit of "up and down" play with both cables though, but I don't think it's something to worry about.

Need a pic of the usb port

Ello, I'm a temporary user having to put up with this thing... Came from an Axon7 which I shattered the screen of for the 2nd time, so a friend gave me his (mildly shattered touchscreen) honor 7x to use for now. i want to die honestly...
Yesterday the usb cable started wiggling up and down and it only charged when at a right angle. thought it was the usb port, after taking the phone apart it was perfect, no problems.
So I guess there's a small piece of plastic on the aluminum case that guides the connector or something? Can anyone take a pic of the micro usb?

Did you take a sewing needle and make sure the port is clean. Mine was full of trash and slow charging very similar to your discription

No, my description was a wiggling port. I don't even have fast charge since i don't have the original charger, i was using my qc3 charger and it barely uses 10w out of the 18w.
Took it apart to see if I had to resolder or replace the port, and it was fine. after reassembling it was okay
i miss usb-c

the daughterboard, pretty much. I thought there might have been a reinforcement that came off or something unlikely like that
