i just bought my dash i downgraded from the g1 when i bought it the guy told me it was unlocked but he did say what kind so how do i find out and what version should i be on i check for updates through the phone but none came up
1) English please, you barely make sense.
2) Why did you downgrade?
3) Your phone is SIM unlocked when you can use any SIM card worldwide and the phone works. The only way for you to know this is to try a SIM from another carrier or even better, country.
meaning when i look on my phone for anything thats says its unlocked like when i go into sounds it says simtoolkit why and no but i did a master reset when i got it

If I deciphered you right, there isn't something that will tell you if its sim unlocked or app unlocked. You know on your own if you insert a SIM that isn't from your carrier, assuming you got it sim locked from the carrier and for app unlocking you can browse the forum. The rest means nothing.

Yes there is software to check sim unlock.
OP: i can't mem what it is but if head to "I'm Back" thread and PM DaveShaw he will know as was him who posted a while back.
If it's app unlock? you will soon find out via trying to flash or installing uncerified software.
Yes but you need to use an app, you can't just go on the phone on its own to check if its unlocked.
And I personally prefer to call T-Mobile and ask them for the code if I have to unlock it.
No credit to me, . Was just browsing the international forums and came across this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014982
Apparently it works for ATT folks, tried it on my rogers phone it didnt work. If it worked for anyone here please let me know. Also please thank the original threader if it worked.
EDIT: I think this works on rogers too. I forgot to INPUT THE * before the # , i didnt see that. ahaha.! Wow it cant be this easy!
2nd edit: confirmed working on rogers, telus, atnt, mobilicity, telus, bell
I just did it, will try and put in a different sim when I have a chance.
1- Before the procedure I installed an old inactive T-Mobile SIM card and was asked for an unlock code after the lock screen.
2- I powered down the phone, reinstalled my active AT&T SIM card and did all the steps mentioned in the other thread. First time I din't see one of the screens (the one prior to hitting back) so I did it a second time and all was according to the instructions.
3- I rebooted with the AT&T SIM card and then I shut the phone down again.
4- Inserted the same old inactive T-Mobile SIM card used on first test and I wasn't required to enter any code like it did before!
I cannot test any further because I don't have access to any other active SIM Card!
Lets wait and see if it was really that easy to unlock :highfive:
Did the steps on my Bell phone and put in a telus sim and it worked.
badass, worked on mine! (didn't check to see if it was already unlocked, though...)
This is really GREAT NEWS ...
Have anyone tried to see if it still works after the FACTORY RESET.
Worked for me. On Rogers

edit... I can confirm that it did work on my AT&T i317.
Confirmed working for telus sgh-i317m.
Thanks! You deserve some credit coz I barely go through the international version thread and I would have never found this method if you didn't post it here. Of course the other guy gets a Thanks and a beer from me but you get a click on your Thanks button for reps!
I did it a couple of days ago. Tried it with my O2 pay-as-you-go SIM from the UK. The GN2 got a signal and connected to the network, so it does work. In the past, I got the screen asking for the unlock code.
Can someone try this link and tell me if it says unlocked?

I tried this on an AT&T Note 2 (SGH-I317) and it worked for me. I put a T-Mobile sim in it and it did not ask for an unlock code. Thank you guys!!!

That link seems to only check iPhones. I think the more important piece is that the phone accepts and works with non-AT&T SIMs. That pretty much means it's unlocked.

Yep. Worked for my on my SGH-i317. I stuck in an inacitve Verizon SIM and no promoting for unlock.
So one thing I noticed is Settings -> About -> Status ... At the very bottom it says: Device Status: Modified. I never noticed this before ... Did that just appear? My phone is bone stock and has never been rooted or modified other than the unlock procedure.
Can someone else look at this before and after? I may go to the ATT store and unlock a display model to test...

I bought a galaxy nexus online in italy (imported).
The firmware is Yakjuxw and was not updated. I had a card H3G italy and everything worked ok.
I then updated to yakju and was always ok. I had Android 4.2.1
Today I changed my carrier and not read any sim Wind Italy
you can not tell me another radio to flash it correctly?
or at least I can redo the procedure to bring him yakjuxw?
how do I fix it without having to bring in help?
I discovered dall'imei by samsung which is imported Romanian
sounds like your phone was temporary unlocked and after flashing yakju you lost the unlock.. now the phone only accepts sim of the carrier its locked to.. the only way to fix this is by either calling the carrier and getting a unlock code or buying the unlock code online..
PS- i can see you need help but next time post in the correct section :good:
the gnexus is not carrier locked...
other sim with other carrier goes well...only wind italy have problems
maybe i have flashed a not radio img compatibile?
Try this app, it says it's only for docomo network. But it worked fine for me, you have to be rooted for it to work tough.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1548008
edit: Use the unlock method where you keep your IMEI code, could void warrenty otherwise.

oh.. then i am not sure what the issue is... weird that it stop reading one specific carriers sim
I can confirm nexus phones comes factory unlocked regardless the county you purchased it from.
Make sure you don't have a bad baseband after the ROM update.
I bought mine in Canada under a Fido contract and it works fine here in Italy and anywhere else I have been with any carriers.

hi,
the problem is that the sim is not recognized by the phone...it not ask me the pin code!
Now i can check the baseband....i flash this adio-maguro-i9250xxla02.img then i think i have this xxla2
and not work with this carrier
i think i must flash the JB Baseband...XXLF1 = baseband Europe
to install it as long as I put it on the phone, go into recovery and do update zip?
But have you tried a total recovery?

If he's running stock ROM, the baseband would have updated along with the 4.2.1 update...that's how my Nexus updated when I went to stock a few weeks ago...the bootloader also updates to the latest...the SIM is probably defective or that particular carrier runs on a different band (unlikely)...it could also be that the APN settings need to be entered manually like I have to do with Straight Talk.

The radio will have nothing to do with it. Almost all GSM GNex radios are compatible with almost all GSM carriers in the world.

the adapter broke it, so now I have to replace it.

Hello guys, sorry to bother. I am contacting you to see if someone can help me, i´ve searched and searched the web without any luck. Almost three weeks ago i got here in Mexico an HTC one M9 from Telcel, I have two mobile phones two lines one telcel one iusacell. I needed to change the iusacell phone but did not like what they had. I got the telcel phone HTC one m9, and it was unlocked from telcel, i put my iusacell sim and worked great. Strangely after two weeks, the screen intact, with not a bump and a glass cover, internally failed and i sent it to a authorized center from the provider, they sent it to HTC and HTC sent me a brand new phone.
This new HTC one m9 works perfect with the telcel chip, i inserted the iusacell chip and it gave me message "UNAUTHORIZED SIM CARD, EC calls only". I assumed it was normal, went and bought the unlock code and tried to enter it, but i noticed it never popped the network unlock screen, it always pops the UNAUTHORIZED SIM CARD EC CALLS ONLY" message on the main screen and the only thing it lets me do with the iusacell chip is place emergency calls. no codes, not even to check imei.
I´ve been looking for support with no help, when entering the unlock code and hitting call (no ok button) it tells me its not an emergency call.
Searching i found that its probably that in the service menu (mode) they deactivated the network unlock screen, but i have not found how to get into the service mode of the phone, everywhere for older htcs they say its *#0011# but no luck, the only codes that work are the *#*#4636#*#* and the 3424 but none of them help me.
What can i do? I prefer to use my iphone for that line and use this phone for my other line which is on a different carrier.
Any ideas or help?
cheers and thanks
Ivan
They gave you a new phone, new motherboard and it's not unlocked. I would assume. It'll probably need to be simple unlocked again. With the first phone you had to request that it be unlocked right?

Strangely enough the first phone i bought came unlocked, i had purchased online the unlock code but when i inserted another sim i did not require it. The problem with this replacement M9 is that although i´ve already bought the unlock code the screen never prompts for the network unlock code. When i insert a different sim that from the carrier (telcel) it prompts an "UNAUTHORIZED SIM CARD; ER CALLS ONLY", i´ve inserted IUSACELL MEXICO SIM, ATT USA SIM
TMOBILE USA SIM all with the same result.
cheers

I know with the T-Mobile phones, or at least I'm pretty sure, we have to flash an international rom to get that screen to come up. Kinda sucks but maybe that's the problem?

You can unlock it or s-off , but a-off is $25. Unlock is free on HTC Dev unlock. It's pretty easy, have you used HTC dev unlock before?

I used ARHD to unlock my T-Mobile m9. Prior to that I also wasn't getting the option of putting in sim unlock code similar to yours. However once you flash and sim unlock it, you can flash any rom and the sim unlock will stick. Good luck.

Thanks =) i did manage to get a new rom into it ARHD and interesting enough when inserting a different carrier sim now I do get the network unlock code screen. I tested the pin i had bought and it did not work, I asked and they told me they will try to find it out. I did try a few more services to buy the code but they all tell me that they cannot find my IMEI in their database. This i find really strange, does anyone know what can it be? I need to unlock since i will be travelling to the USA and want to put a prepaid card into my phone.
cheers
Ivan
I had the same problem as you. My HTC was originally from T-Mobile, I unlocked bootloader, flashed latest TWRP recovery, rooted and S-off'ed. After that I also set CID to BS_US001 and MID to 0PJA11000
After that downloaded Developer Edition RUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-one-m9/general/att-developer-edition-ruu-how-to-t3086948 (use the 1.32.617.30 RUU.zip, using the 0PJAIMG.ZIP method), after that you will be prompted to insert unlock code and receive latest updates, hope it helps!

If you already bought and received an unlock code there is a big probability that you had a typo with your imei maybe. Usually when you receive an unlock code they tend to always work. Hope it helps
Hold on there's a tested and working free sim unlock in here somewhere! I have used it and multiple others, let me try to get the link.

Just a real quick question before i return the phone tomorrow.
On the g981u1 (purchased from google through Fi), same as everywhere else, has the sim manager disabled, bootloader not unlockable.
From all the searching i did today, which was horrible, i just wanted to verify in a last ditch effort before sending it back.
The only way i found to enable esim is to modify the features.xml (from sounds of it). However to do so you need root, and of course it appears root requires unlocked bootloader(unless i missed something somewhere)
I have been unable to find a way to unlock bootloader(am i wrong?)
I havent found root (without unlocked bootloader)
Edit- nvm i found what i was looking for

I am rooted/unlocked
In vendor\build.prop i found "persist.radio.multisim.config=ss" which is single sim. dsds would be for dual sim. Phone would not let me modify or replace the build.prop.
With the recommendation from Orphee i installed this package in my magisk
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-magiskhide-props-config-t3789228
From there it let me change that line to dsds, and thus here we are. I am unsure if dsds should be a different line for esim, or if something else is needed to "start" the esim.
Are both modules enabled ? CSC and Props config
And is there 2 IMEI written in phone About screen ? Not only the box.

Currently the IMEI for esim shows unknown, so it IS possible i broke that during UL/root or something, but i feel more inclined to believe it is just not enabled. On stock rom it only showed the normal IMEI
I have tried both yes
Then you must fix or find how to have the IMEI number shown in the phone menu.
Esim registration will not work until you have the IMEI number shown.
