eSim/BL/root - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &
Just a real quick question before i return the phone tomorrow.
On the g981u1 (purchased from google through Fi), same as everywhere else, has the sim manager disabled, bootloader not unlockable.
From all the searching i did today, which was horrible, i just wanted to verify in a last ditch effort before sending it back.
The only way i found to enable esim is to modify the features.xml (from sounds of it). However to do so you need root, and of course it appears root requires unlocked bootloader(unless i missed something somewhere)
I have been unable to find a way to unlock bootloader(am i wrong?)
I havent found root (without unlocked bootloader)
Edit- nvm i found what i was looking for

So far, no go on the esim. I did get unlocked etc, but it seems something else is keeping the esim inactive. I almost need a snapdragon with esim working (from another country) to compare to

Snapdragon variants aren't eSIM enabled, only Exynos devices.
I remember seeing the option enabled when you flash the Exynos magisk module on a Snapdragon device. It also gave me call recorder.

CSC change does not appear to work on snapdragon, i already tried it.
HOWEVER, editing Build.prop in vendor did enable sim manager for me, however status is showing esim imei as unknown (yes my box has 2 imei) and the add gets stuck

Can you specify how you accessed Build.prop and also what you edited to enable sim manager?

I am rooted/unlocked
In vendor\build.prop i found "persist.radio.multisim.config=ss" which is single sim. dsds would be for dual sim. Phone would not let me modify or replace the build.prop.
With the recommendation from Orphee i installed this package in my magisk
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-magiskhide-props-config-t3789228
From there it let me change that line to dsds, and thus here we are. I am unsure if dsds should be a different line for esim, or if something else is needed to "start" the esim.
Are both modules enabled ? CSC and Props config
And is there 2 IMEI written in phone About screen ? Not only the box.

Currently the IMEI for esim shows unknown, so it IS possible i broke that during UL/root or something, but i feel more inclined to believe it is just not enabled. On stock rom it only showed the normal IMEI

Then you must fix or find how to have the IMEI number shown in the phone menu.
Esim registration will not work until you have the IMEI number shown.

Correct! That is where i am currently stuck lol
Download Google dialer and then enter *#*#467#*#" and there's some esim related toggles available now.
You can enable RCS here too if you know what you're doing.

Im assuming since you unlocked you are using it on a different carrier then. May be that the codes you are entering are trying to communicate with AT&T networks and if you arent with AT&T is probably why they aren't working. Just a guess.

No idea. Sorry. Might be something hidden in one of the xml files, or it may be hard coded into an app. Im really not sure. Your non carrier-specific codes work, right?

Oem-specific info/Settings disabled how to enable
I've read on here that 8.1 is locked I was trying dialer codes and ran across a app that showed oem-specific info/Settings disabled. How would one enable this hidden setting? Dialer codes aren't really working on my phone.

Hello, I bought a used a5 2017 phone from ebay and when I received it, my sim not worked, then my brother's sim either. I think the imei is being blacklisted. Is there any way to change it, or how?

If the baseband version/ids/content in *#0011# isn't there, try restarting the device? changing firmware, preferably with a newer modem? wiping data? For installing firmware, there's odin. Use odin, the stock rom (official firmware), and samsung drivers, Insert the usb cable, switch off the device, hold power+volumedown+home(the button on the middle), grant its permission, select the stock rom in odin, start. New firmware might require odin 3.13.1. The error "failed: device _ binary _" means that the firmware is old, somewhere in the middle of the firmware version code is for example U5 or S5, if U6 or S6 is already on the device it won't install u5/s5. To check if the device is blacklisted, the code is *#9900# > run cp based log > copy to sdcard. Select nothing else. It is available in the folder /sdcard/log/err/ , sdcard meaning internal storage or device storage or internal memory. Open LitmusLog....txt and scroll down, look for the part that says reject info list, look for Cause:6 (basically this device can't be used); Cause:3 (basically this device can't be used with this sim). It is also available in /sdcard/log/err/ss_log/*/cp_members.txt , but the reject cause is in hexadecimal, and resets after a reboot, compared to the other file that keeps reject causes until it's replaced or cleared in another menu. Click to collapse Sadly this not helped, the imei is blacklisted, and modem update not fixed it for me. :/ I contacted the network operator and because I'm not in contact with the person who sold me the phone, they can't tell me anything, because I don't have the rights. So I think the only way is the imei changing method, but I don't know if it's even possible or how. Sorry if my English is bad, and thank you.

Click to collapse I did a bit of research.... - it is illegal to change imei- if hat means anything to you, lol - it is against Ebay's policy to sell phones with bad imei - there is an xposed module to change imei but you would trip knox

Thank you, I will look into it, but I think I will sell the phone as a 'working display part'.. Motherboards are not cheap.

If it is imei blocked then you should get a refund or make sure Ebay is involved if the seller refuses to.

Hi, I cannot access to service mode menu *#2263# , blank screen, I have exynos versio of note 10. Any idea?
Works fine on my US SD model.
My unlocked 10+ flashed with t-mobile firmware works for that service mode.
BTW did you try other codes like *#0*#, to see if they work? I also remember something about Exynos having different sequence for some codes than SD in the past, but I don't remember details. I think there are some apps that can list all the codes available for your phone, so that would be my next step.

I got a second hand op7t(TMobile edition) few days ago, and updated it to the latest version. I can't find anything in settings to tell if mine is sim unlocked or not. Is there any way for me to check? Thanks!

And I don't have any other carrier sim cards nearby That being said, I found the option which shows my network unlock status under "About Phone", so that's well and done.
