no I use stock rom, No root, No CWM

Im assuming since you unlocked you are using it on a different carrier then. May be that the codes you are entering are trying to communicate with AT&T networks and if you arent with AT&T is probably why they aren't working.
Just a guess.

is there any way to use ussd code on this phone "and file or program"

No idea. Sorry. Might be something hidden in one of the xml files, or it may be hard coded into an app. Im really not sure.
Your non carrier-specific codes work, right?

USSD Codes for 4.2.1

Because of the recent news of making it illegal to unlock phones I tried to use the *#simlock# code to check to see if my phone (T999) was unlocked. I keep getting the "Connection problem or invalid MMI code" so I tried a bunch of other codes which also didn't work. Is this because I'm running 4.2.1 (AOSP)? I remember when I had 4.0.4 USSD codes worked normally.

you need to be stock to unlock your phone, the codes dont work on aosp.
I did the sim unlock on my phone a few months ago when it was just stock rooted, I'm not entirely sure if it worked then. Would that still apply now and is the only way to check is with a different carrier's sim?

from what i understand, yes. when you unlock the sim there is nothing that says "it's unlocked!" so yeah you have to use an AT&T sim and see if you can make a call
and it sticks after a flash, it's not rom dependent, you just have to be stock to unlock it, then you can flash whatever you want

SGH-S970G flashed to SGH-M919

Been experimenting with this phone lately, I managed to flash it to a tmobile s4 with the exception of the modem as we all know its practically impossible to flash it to this phone. I got the NSP code but the issue is that the phone only stays unlocked temporarily. If I reboot the phone it locks again. Would the modem be the one responsible for reseting the network lock? Any advise? Am up for some development on this.
So I get that no one knows or bothers to help here?

Generally speaking, the modem isn't in control of the network lock. You can unlock a phone, flash new modem, and remain locked. The SIM lock status is stored elsewhere.
Unfortunately I don't have an explanation for why your unlock doesn't persist.

Too bad SIM unlock isn't as easy as simply flashing an unlocked modem binary in Odin!

We are yet to see how tracfone will handle this new unlocking policy. definitely they need to provide some time of update to unlock all they lock on there phones.
Any more news on the SGH-S970G? I just picked one up for Straight Talk brand new for $250. Heck of a deal, but I need it to work on T-mobile and flash to a TW rom for wifi calling. I am hoping I don't have to return this...
Chimera says they can unlock it, but I haven't looked in to it much yet.

This is a stab in the dark but here goes. Is there any chance you have SGH-S970G firmware that could be shared. I would be grateful.

Samsung Note 2 (Sgh-i317m) connecting to unwanted network operators with roaming off.

Hey, So, I realized I posted a forum about this with an "anonymous" account.. And sorry about that.
Anyways, My issue is, my darn phone will drop the network, and decides to connect to a rogers or telus Network Operator instead of Bell (or just completely dropping the network entirely). I did the unlock hack through the original baseband, then updated to cyanogen 12.1 and installed the I317MVLUDNF3 modem, Same issues. I just dealt with it but am wanting to try to fix this. I recently moved to Resurrection Remix 6.0.1 (which, by the by, is amazing) and its gotten better reception, but same darn issue.
So, How do i go along to fix this? Any way through xposed or root or WHATEVER cause this makes the phone really unreliable.
Does this problem exist when using the latest stock rom?

No i do not believe it did.. I could try with the stock rom again as i dont completely remember. But I am 80% sure it didn't.
Edit: Heres whats going on (this for some reason happens extremely quickly right now, usually its a half an hour or more apart..)

It could be that these custom ROMs need the latest bootloader and modem to function properly.

I'm downloading the mvludnf4 modem, and i have the latest bootloader from 4.4.2.. So, lets see if this modem fixes it..
Any other ideas?
If it seems to work properly on a stock rom, maybe flash back a completely stock rom, flash twrp, and then a custom rom?

Sorry for the late reply. I flashed the nf4 modem and reception is better.. Battery life sucks but oh well. I think this is a hardware issue.. I'm getting around -90 to -110dbm and 0-7 asu MAX. Maybe my antenna is busted?
Maybe try flashing back to a completely stock rom instead of just flashing the modem?

Well.. I don't see how the ROM could have an impact with the signal strength but I'll give it a try. Anywhere i can find a completely stock rom? The one stop shop only has stock slightly modded. Unless that will work

Edit. Was reading this forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2312921
And maybe the dialer unlock causes this? I could try getting it properly unlocked? Any insight on how carrier locks work?
I had an i317m that was locked to Telus running stock kk.
I used Odin to flash a stock 4.1.1 Samsung rom, sim unlocked the phone via the dialler menu, flashed back to the latest kk, pass the phone to a relative, and he has been using it for years on Rogers with no signal issues afaik. It may be possible that this method of unlocking causes a signal issue but I can't be sure.
In the thread that was linked, it looks like it could be a hardware problem.
Hmm.. Well I tore the phone apart and the antennas seem to be jn place.. The 4g antenna is alot smaller then the GT n7100's. Maybe that has something to do with it.. That or this phone has trouble with bell frequencies?

The i317m should be fine with bell, Telus, and Rogers.

Then i am completely lost.. Something must be hardware related.
Not 100% sure but doesn't the phones imei number have to be registered on the network it's using. Maybe imei has something to do with it.
Just a copy and paste off the internet instead of linking to a website. I think imei is the problem.
What is IMEI?
Mobile phones, except the serial number have also IMEI number. IMEI — International Mobile Equipment Identity. IMEI — a common standard for all mobile devices, which is assigned to the phone at the time of manufacture it in the factory. It's the unique number, which is broadcasting to the carrier to authorize phone in the network. Structure of the IMEI is the same for all phones regardless of manufacturer. IMEI number is also used to track and block lost or stolen phones by the carrier, which further prevents to use of such devices. However, blocking IMEI in one carrier network have no effect in others networks.

Well.. If it was an imei issue wouldnt it be getting no signal at all since the phone can't register on the network?
Canadian carriers don't need the imei to be registered, only the SIM card.

service mode

Hi,
I cannot access to service mode menu *#2263# , blank screen, I have exynos versio of note 10.
Any idea?
Works fine on my US SD model.
My unlocked 10+ flashed with t-mobile firmware works for that service mode.
BTW did you try other codes like *#0*#, to see if they work? I also remember something about Exynos having different sequence for some codes than SD in the past, but I don't remember details. I think there are some apps that can list all the codes available for your phone, so that would be my next step.

dl phoneinfo.apk or similar that lists all the dialer codes for u to try..
if none work then its possible ur carrier disabled them.. if u have root u can enable them.. on sd devices you would enable in the file /efs/FactoryApp/keystr and /efs/carrier/HiddenMenu..
i have vzw who blocks dialer codes so i always have to enable them manually..

I need a method to unlock the device, tried a lot of paid services already, most of them dont have an unlock code yet for my device and some sent me a wrong unlock code

As far as I'm aware NO it won't remove carrier lock, you'll just have to wait for that to become available......:good:

Hi
I made a stupid mistake with my G988B, its were not working well, so I decided install a stock rom, but downloaded and installed o last version of software from another country (G988BXXS2ATD5, XEF ) whit Security Level Patch of may 1, 20.
After installed new stock rom, my phone ask for Network Unlock Code.
When realized of my mistake, tried reinstall orignal version of firmware (G988BXXU1ATCT, PGU) but nothing work for me. I have tried to flash with Odin, but always, process stop in "flashing vbmeta.img."
I have read a lot tread trying figure out my problem like: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s20/how-to/howto-root-s20-series-upgrade-firmware-t4079353/post82220417#post82220417
There is a way to come back original stock rom and then trying unlock network?
Could this process work in my case without damaging my phone?
Thanks.

Thanks por your answer, but I did it.
It doesnt work.
Samkey is the only way to unlock a Samsung phone other than getting the network unlock code from the network or third party. You must know what you are doing. Google the process. If that doesn't work then there is an issue here that needs further investigation. Also ensure your active csc code is the one that was originally on the phone as well as stock rom. Sam key can be used to change csc as well.
Good luck

Thanks mikey_sk,
My problem is that both the csc code and the stock rom are not the original ones. Therefore I am looking for a guide to help me how to get back to the stock rom.
I have read that the problem is, the security patch that I installed as it is newer than the one I am trying to reinstall. I will keep trying.
I understand that so far there is no way to go back from binary 2 to binary 1.
Any help is appreciated.

Ok,
Thanks.
No more questions.
You can always use the sim slot 2, it is usually not locked.
I suggest you change the csc to a stock one using Sam key. Make sure you enable USB debugging in developer settings otherwise Sam key won't work. After that dowload the most recent stock rom for that device from sammobile and flash in ODIN but DO NOT use HOME_CSC so it can do a full wipe and rebuild the firmware. As an added measure as soon as installed go into recovery and do a full wipe. If network is still locked try unlocking it with samkey

Unfortunately for it, you mentioned only sim1 is blocked and you still can use sim2.
This is not network lock but rather imei blacklist.
The only way to fix this is to pay your telco bills from where you purchased the phone. If it's a used phone, I would get a refund. There is no roms you can use that can fix it as it's blacklisted from the telcos.
There is only 2 reasons it is locked.
1. You didn't pay your installment bills.
2. The phone is reported as stolen.
If you purchased a used phone, get a refund.
