Samsung Note 2 (Sgh-i317m) connecting to unwanted network operators with roaming off. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey, So, I realized I posted a forum about this with an "anonymous" account.. And sorry about that.
Anyways, My issue is, my darn phone will drop the network, and decides to connect to a rogers or telus Network Operator instead of Bell (or just completely dropping the network entirely). I did the unlock hack through the original baseband, then updated to cyanogen 12.1 and installed the I317MVLUDNF3 modem, Same issues. I just dealt with it but am wanting to try to fix this. I recently moved to Resurrection Remix 6.0.1 (which, by the by, is amazing) and its gotten better reception, but same darn issue.
So, How do i go along to fix this? Any way through xposed or root or WHATEVER cause this makes the phone really unreliable.

Does this problem exist when using the latest stock rom?

No i do not believe it did.. I could try with the stock rom again as i dont completely remember. But I am 80% sure it didn't.
Edit: Heres whats going on (this for some reason happens extremely quickly right now, usually its a half an hour or more apart..)

It could be that these custom ROMs need the latest bootloader and modem to function properly.

I'm downloading the mvludnf4 modem, and i have the latest bootloader from 4.4.2.. So, lets see if this modem fixes it..
Any other ideas?

If it seems to work properly on a stock rom, maybe flash back a completely stock rom, flash twrp, and then a custom rom?

Sorry for the late reply. I flashed the nf4 modem and reception is better.. Battery life sucks but oh well. I think this is a hardware issue.. I'm getting around -90 to -110dbm and 0-7 asu MAX. Maybe my antenna is busted?

Maybe try flashing back to a completely stock rom instead of just flashing the modem?

Well.. I don't see how the ROM could have an impact with the signal strength but I'll give it a try. Anywhere i can find a completely stock rom? The one stop shop only has stock slightly modded. Unless that will work

Edit. Was reading this forum

And maybe the dialer unlock causes this? I could try getting it properly unlocked? Any insight on how carrier locks work?

I had an i317m that was locked to Telus running stock kk.
I used Odin to flash a stock 4.1.1 Samsung rom, sim unlocked the phone via the dialler menu, flashed back to the latest kk, pass the phone to a relative, and he has been using it for years on Rogers with no signal issues afaik. It may be possible that this method of unlocking causes a signal issue but I can't be sure.
In the thread that was linked, it looks like it could be a hardware problem.

Hmm.. Well I tore the phone apart and the antennas seem to be jn place.. The 4g antenna is alot smaller then the GT n7100's. Maybe that has something to do with it.. That or this phone has trouble with bell frequencies?

The i317m should be fine with bell, Telus, and Rogers.

Then i am completely lost.. Something must be hardware related.

Not 100% sure but doesn't the phones imei number have to be registered on the network it's using. Maybe imei has something to do with it.

Just a copy and paste off the internet instead of linking to a website. I think imei is the problem.
What is IMEI?
Mobile phones, except the serial number have also IMEI number. IMEI — International Mobile Equipment Identity. IMEI — a common standard for all mobile devices, which is assigned to the phone at the time of manufacture it in the factory. It's the unique number, which is broadcasting to the carrier to authorize phone in the network. Structure of the IMEI is the same for all phones regardless of manufacturer. IMEI number is also used to track and block lost or stolen phones by the carrier, which further prevents to use of such devices. However, blocking IMEI in one carrier network have no effect in others networks.

Well.. If it was an imei issue wouldnt it be getting no signal at all since the phone can't register on the network?

Canadian carriers don't need the imei to be registered, only the SIM card.

Perhaps you need to check your APN settings ??
And verify you have the correct modem for your region....g

Thanks for your response, but i don't have signal at all, but the phone automatically detects my apn settings, and can read the sim card, but there is no signal, it might be the modem, but i tried tmobile modem and att modem neither one was working.
same issue here

Fails to connect to network

unlocked GSM gnex. I believe it was previously used on At&t in the US. Currently has a T-mobile SIM. For whatever reason, can not connect to the network at all.
I flashed it to stock 4.3 yakju images, and updated the radios to I9250UGLL1.
SIM card definitely works.
Any other ideas?

[Q] I747M - Telus - Won't connect to network - Weird

Hi everyone,
Weird issue with my telus locked S3. When searching for networks it only shows EXT, and nothing else. Is my phone hooped? I already tried a fresh factory restore to stock. Checked blacklist and its not black listed. My SIM works in my S4 just fine. Hallp?
Does your phone show the correct imei when dialling *#06# on the dialler?
hmm

great question. It does...but with a /11 after it.
That's fine. It's the first 15 digits that represent the IMEI.
Have you tried changing the network settings to wcdma only?

understood. I didn't, but i'm doing so now.
Changed to wcdma only, rebooted. Still insists that EXT is the only network and is unavailable.
Which bootloader and modem are on your phone? Do they match the ROM?

Well i reflashed I747MVLUFOB1, and the weird thing is i had to do a factory reset on the phone for it to give me the default setup (when i flashed it..it seemed like it didn't delete everything). Now at least its showing "bars" of service..but will only find the EXT network (and i do mean cellular network here).
Any other ideas?
Did you change any of the modem settings using the dialler?

On a side note, seems like it won't connect to telus, but it will connect to Fido (and will roam on rogers with my international SIM). IMEI is not on the national blacklist..maybe its not the phone?

I am experiencing the exact same problem as you My problems also started after I installed the I747MVLUFOB1 (BMC/Bell version) on my Bell locked phone. Mine was a little more complicated in that I had also lost my IMEI and I had to restore my IMEI. My IMEI is now restored, phone is not blacklisted but same issue of only having EXT as a network option. If you figure it out, please let me know how you fixed it! Thank you
Hmm very strange. Well i did check the IMEI several times (along with the person that brought it to me) and couldn't figure it out so i had to give it back unfixed. I didn't end up figuring out, but i did hear of another scenario..exactly the same with an S5 they had. Wonder if there's a lot more people with this issue out there?
This tutorial saved my phone! Luckily I had a friend with the same phone.

I suspect your NV data was corrupted during a flash aswell!

Problem with 2G network.

Hello everybody! I have a problem. When I am in 2G network, network signal is good, but no one can call me. SMS is incoming and internet works. But no calls. Sometimes and me can't even be able to call. What is the problem? With 3G network no problem.
Device - T999N.
I live in Uzbekistan. Operator is Beeline Uzbekistan.
Is the phone running the latest bootloader and modem? Which ROM is installed?
Modem T999NUVUBOH1.
Now installed RR от d2att. But I've try CyanogenMod, LiteRom, OctOs. And STOCK that was, I do not remember.
And what do you mean with the bootloader?
The bootloader is what allows the phone to boot the ROM. It's similar to a computer BIOS.
This happens on the stock ROM too?

I now about Bios. Bootloader is kernel in custom roms?

I don't remember. Bought and immediately flashed custom.
Bootloader is not the kernel. The Kernel is part of the operating system.
Well, now I'll try to change the bootloader. Can you give the actual link?
And it will not break unlock?
The simplest way to update everything on the phone would be to flash a stock ROM from sammobile.com. Flashing a stock ROM should not re-lock the phone to a carrier. I have used several Samsung phones in the past and, once the phone has been network unlocked, it has stayed unlocked.
Before flashing anything, confirm the phone's model # in download mode.

I flashed T999NUVUBOH1_T999NTMBBOH1_TMB from Sammobile. But Phone is bootlooped. It shows only logo MetroPCS Wireless for all and notification LED lights.
Phone is booted. But in stock also I can't call in the EDGE network.
Does the carrier have 2g for voice calls? I know that 2g is being eliminated in the USA.

Oh sure. Half of the our country works in 2G.
Hmm, I'm not sure why 2g calls don't work as the s3 definitely supports 2g.

LTE connection problem

Hi All,
I'm looking for help with this odd issue I can't seem to solve:
SGS-I747M, originally from Bell, unlocked and flashed with Telus stock firmware; testing with Telus SIM card. Only able to _functionally_ connect to HSPA(+) network: when trying to get LTE, the phone shows "LTE" but no internet, no SMS; I'm able to place/receive phone calls.
Tried editing the LTE-related NV items (as referenced elsewhere on this forum) -- the changes don't stick, and the values revert to the original (interestingly, they are the same as on an original Telus phone that gets LTE no problem!).
I made sure the modem is from Telus stock ROM.
This issue is obviously not a show-stopper, and the phone would be totally usable on Telus network, but I'm just curious: the hardware is the same, the software is the same... what the heck is the issue?
Could someone plz point me in the right direction?
Cheers,
Alex
You have an LTE card? I have Public Mobile which is a Telus sub that runs off the Telus towers and I can get LTE on a stock i747m.

Of course. It is my primary, Telus "proper" card. I get LTE on a former Rogers unlocked I337M stock Lollipop, as well as a former Rogers unlocked I747M with stock 4.3 (not to mention the Telus I747Ms I have... I rescued all my other phones from a trash bin, restored the glass on some, swapped motherboards and screens on some).
APN settings are also correct.
thoughts?
If all of the parts are original and there is no damage, I'm at a loss as to why there is no connection on LTE.
Have you tried changing the csc to telus using the dialler menu? Maybe it needs the stock telus ROM?

CSC = TLS. So I'm at a loss as well. Hence the question to the community
