I bought a galaxy nexus online in italy (imported).
The firmware is Yakjuxw and was not updated. I had a card H3G italy and everything worked ok.
I then updated to yakju and was always ok. I had Android 4.2.1
Today I changed my carrier and not read any sim Wind Italy
you can not tell me another radio to flash it correctly?
or at least I can redo the procedure to bring him yakjuxw?
how do I fix it without having to bring in help?
I discovered dall'imei by samsung which is imported Romanian
sounds like your phone was temporary unlocked and after flashing yakju you lost the unlock.. now the phone only accepts sim of the carrier its locked to.. the only way to fix this is by either calling the carrier and getting a unlock code or buying the unlock code online..
PS- i can see you need help but next time post in the correct section :good:
the gnexus is not carrier locked...
other sim with other carrier goes well...only wind italy have problems
maybe i have flashed a not radio img compatibile?
Try this app, it says it's only for docomo network. But it worked fine for me, you have to be rooted for it to work tough.

edit: Use the unlock method where you keep your IMEI code, could void warrenty otherwise.

oh.. then i am not sure what the issue is... weird that it stop reading one specific carriers sim
I can confirm nexus phones comes factory unlocked regardless the county you purchased it from.
Make sure you don't have a bad baseband after the ROM update.
I bought mine in Canada under a Fido contract and it works fine here in Italy and anywhere else I have been with any carriers.

hi,
the problem is that the sim is not recognized by the phone...it not ask me the pin code!
Now i can check the baseband....i flash this adio-maguro-i9250xxla02.img then i think i have this xxla2
and not work with this carrier
i think i must flash the JB Baseband...XXLF1 = baseband Europe
to install it as long as I put it on the phone, go into recovery and do update zip?
But have you tried a total recovery?

If he's running stock ROM, the baseband would have updated along with the 4.2.1 update...that's how my Nexus updated when I went to stock a few weeks ago...the bootloader also updates to the latest...the SIM is probably defective or that particular carrier runs on a different band (unlikely)...it could also be that the APN settings need to be entered manually like I have to do with Straight Talk.

The radio will have nothing to do with it. Almost all GSM GNex radios are compatible with almost all GSM carriers in the world.

So the Japanese Docomo version is different from the UK or US GSM one?
I always get my android phones from oversea but this time I was thinking to buy it in Japan as I am living here. I don't want to find any sim lock or retarded docomo customization. I tried the Galaxy Nexus in a docomo shop and I didn't find any differences from the one I saw from youtube. Can you confirm that?
Thanks

I've had mine for a couple of days. Seems pretty stock, even the boot screen just says 'Google', a nice refresh.
Differences I've noticed;
Baseband - SC04DOMKKD
SP-Mode shortcut - points to a webpage explaining it's coming soon
No tethering - coming in Jan, supposedly
Course I haven't used a non-JP one, so I could be missing more.
As a note
Kernel - 3.0.1-ge2433f2 [email protected]#1
Build number - ITL41D.SC04DOMKKD
Flashed?
Anyone tried to flash it with a custom rom or an AOSP build?
I'm wondering if the different baseband version will cause any issues.
I'm using ARHD1.3.1 with franco's kernel on docomo SC-04D baseband.
until now, working well smoothy

Hi godelsproof,
I'm a first time android user, so I'm still a bit confused with all the terminology.
Regarding our flat rate data plans, baseband versions have no information related to this right ? I mean, if we change our baseband (to get rid of sim lock), our flat rate plans will still work ok ?
Regarding sim lock, before buying, I talked with Docomo sales rep, and he said that our phones are not sim locked, if we go to our own country, and insert a local sim, it should work. But at least trying my own SIM here says phone is locked, and emergency calls only...
What are the advantages to change to franco's kernel, in Galaxy Nexus? At least on some Nexus S thread, people are saying the performance improves quite a bit... I guess we can get more perf also from our horses ?
Now Im using a sc-04d, and change to xxkk1 baseband sucessful. Just as same as the uk one.
sc-04d has a simlock, but you can go to docomo shop and unlock it .

I'm a little unclear on a few points, and would appreciate a little more info . I also have a Docomo SC-04D:
1) When you say that you changed the baseband, this means that you flashed the radio right?
2) Can we just use the standard fastboot method for flashing the radio to the direct-from-google radio image, or are there more steps we should do?
3) Are there any disadvantages to changing the baseband?
Thanks!

My phone started to ask for the SIM network unlock pin after a flashed the stock 4.0.2 downloaded from Google. I purchased an unlock code, but I have no idea if it will work as I haven't received it yet.

Same Here - On Vodafone Australia, i can get the unlock code for free but every time i re-flash a ROM i have to unlock the network. - Annoying - but as pedmond mentioned at least we can use the same unlock code as it is calculated on your personal handsets IMEI number..
Not experienced this with any other handset after unlocking the network carrier..

Has anybody figured out whether or not the sim-lock persists when flashing back to a stock yakuxw-ROM?
As far as i know the sim-network-lock issue happens when going from a Galaxy Nexus with a yakuxw-ROM by factory to an alternate ROM (happens in my case when i flashed the IMM76D by google).
Hi, I'm going to buy an docomo version of Galaxy Nexus and I really wanna know if there's any difference between those 2 in term of flashing firmware, rooting, or custom firmwares... Can I install custom firmware that's made for I9250 on SC-04D.

Should be the exact same. From what I've read anything you can flash on i9250 you can flash on SC-04D.
Thanks, pal, think i'm gonna buy it tomorow , just cant wait
Edit: one more question, SC-04D is Maguro or Toro?
GSM models are Maguro.
I thought the sc-04d did not support umts 900.
some SC-04D models do not have perm-unlock, and some do.

Here's the link for CDMA (VZW) Nexus and here's the link for GSM Nexus.
I have the DoCoMo and it was perm unlocked. I was able to flash the yakju factory image to it without an issue. Retained unlock.
I am not sure about the 900 band that others have mentioned, but mine has an option to choose the bands I use via the *#*#4636#*#* menu. It wont let me select the 900 band individually, but I can select "usa bands", "japan bands" "AUS bands", and a few others as well as "automatic".
One thing to look into is the radios. I read on one thread that the radios are different from the 9250 and SC-04D. However, I cant confirm if there is really an issue or if even true.
I can tell you that mine flashed and accepted the i9250 radio from the 4.0.4 google factory image, so I dont know how big of a deal it can be.

As I know, SC-04D cannot be permanently unlocked without changing IMEI. I know that on the market there are lot of SC-04D but me personally rather paid 500-1M more for European version than choosing SC-04D which is unsure about unlock status...

I think it may be hit or miss. As I mentioned in my post. My IMEI matches the IMEI on the box, it is not the generic IMEI that you get from using the unlock app.
It originally had the yakjuxe on it. The bootloader was unlocked when I received it.
I flashed it to yakju factory google image (4.0.4). In the process, obviously it performed a reset and cleared all the info. The IMEI remained the same and the unlocked sim was retained as well.
To try to verify the phone was permanent unlocked I then factory reset the phone. The sim remain unlocked.
The only thing I havent done at this point is to re-lock the bootloader. I suppose locking the bootloader could potentially re-lock the sim, but I havent tried it.

From those SC-04D I saw here in my country there is also NTT Docomo logo on it instead of Google or Samsung logo (don't remember exactly). Also on the battery it is all in Japanese. Manual is also all in Japanese.
unlocked GSM gnex. I believe it was previously used on At&t in the US. Currently has a T-mobile SIM. For whatever reason, can not connect to the network at all.
I flashed it to stock 4.3 yakju images, and updated the radios to I9250UGLL1.
SIM card definitely works.

Yes, D2LTE is the one you are looking for. If the phone has never been SIM unlocked then the phone shall ask for an unlock code as soon as you put a SIM card from another carrier that's not the one that came with the phone.

Everything should work the same as usual after the flash. You may just have to change the APN after flashing. So, you may want to write down or screen cap the current APN settings before flashing.
okay guys thank you very much...ill update this post after flashing, sry for bothering
