"Compatibility patch" update showed up in my notification area. When I clicked on it, it took me to the LG software update section and said that this file is needed to fix some issues with app compatibility.
After installing the program asks to reboot the phone. Once the notification is clicked on, the phone reboots.
Phone is not rooted. It seemed a little sketchy since there's really no other information anywhere else on the net. It seems a bunch of other people have got this but no real info.
Just wondering if anybody else has got this update.
Thanx.
I didn't get this "comp patch" as an individual update. Last week, I got the update with the security patches from July 1 (German G4, no branding), and it looks like that this patch was included. It now shows in the list of installed LG applications, where it didn't appear before. My wife (LG G3) got this patch as a single install (~1 week ago).
I have got this compatibility patch too, and in description of this app is 20160809 so it is 1 week old. But what was going about in that "fix"... :/
I've got the patch today too. But haven't rebooted yet.
U talking about this one? What is that supposed to do?
I have got this update and now it keep asking to reboot in notification bar. I have done restart many times but no luck.

If you have the encryption on then turn it off and reboot. That should resolve the issue and then you can turn it back on. Hope it works for you.

Hi Akarshad, I've got exactly the same issue. Installed, rebooted multiple times and the notification to reboot is still there telling me to reboot to finalise the install.
Problem with the Patch
I got the same patch on my LG V10. Thinking nothing of it I agreed to install and reboot. Once I had done so, I now have the Yellow Boot Warning at every boot. And also a bunch of my system apps stopped working. Camera, Phone, Music. I don't remember ever flashing a ROM that would trigger the warning seeing as how I got the update to 6.0.1 a few days before and hadn't done anything since. So I flashed back to stock with LGUP and the problems still persist. This is my first post ever, any advice. I apologize as I know this is a LGG4 thread.
If you did anything to the system image, you may have issues applying the OTA. @SixTheAmateur: did you modify in any way your V10? Did you flash a KDZ not officially available to your V10?

I've had massive compatibility issues with my g4 and apps I like to use. I noticed this today and definitely installed it. I have been able to use the apps I hadn't been able to use.
It seems to be going well so far. I'd say do it.
It seems to be frozen/disabled after installing, odd.
Sent from my LG-H811 using XDA Labs

Compatibility Patch Mystery to T-Mobile and LG
I got a notice for a compatibility patch several weeks ago.
Rather than click I contacted LG, who knew nothing of it.
So I contacted T-Mobile, my carrier, and they knew nothing of it and suggested I don't down load it.
It popped up again today and I'm going to ignore it until I understand what it will do.
Good Luck!
Similar experience. I had issues with my phone afterward and had to get a new one.

Hello, Good Day to all! I wont take too much of your time but please help me!
My Oneplus 3 suddenly bricked itself, I dont know how or why but it just powered off and then when I tried to boot it up it was hard bricked. Now I've managed to fix it by following the Mega Unbrick guide for Oneplus 3 and it boots up, but the problem is it crashes during boot, and it randomly crashes after a few minutes which then leads to the boot logo crash, I have to "let it rest" so to speak for a few minutes so that it would bypass the boot crashes. Once it got past the crashes some apps are not responding like Twitter, Messenger and so on. Stock apps are fine it's the newly downloaded ones that are not responding, I tried numerous factory resets using the stock recovery and TWRP but no luck.
I am on Nougat 7.1.1 on the latest OxygenOS version, Unlocked bootloader with systemless root. I haven't tried flashing a custom rom the only thing I tried to flash was the Stock Rom. I also noticed that the WiFi and the Data/Signal was particularly weaker since the messages would not load, I need to actually check the app for it to sync. When I got Messenger somehow working, the messages would not even load up.
Any ideas what the problem is? Any help is deeply appreciated, Thanks in Advance!

This sounds like an hardware issue, have you tried method 2 of the unbrick tool, perhaps you could try to re-download it, have you unzipped it? If it boots let it boot and then upgrade to a new OOS version and then you can do whatever you want. If it doesn't work after you followed my suggestions you might wanna contact Oneplus, don't worry even though your bootloader is unlocked you still have full warranty..

I did the method 2 of the unbrick tool, I've done it like twice or thrice now. I have the latest version of OOS, I am afraid to flash a custom rom because after it flashes in TWRP it immediately crashes, it does not even give me a chance to clear the dalvik or reboot. It crashes no reboot or anything.
But thank you I didn't expect anyone would reply well I regained my faith in humanity in forums
Sidenote: What custom rom would you suggest? or is the stock rom better?

I would suggest VertexOS. It's simple and really fast, EAS and Voxpopuli takes peformance per watt to the next level, if you like feature you might try Zenixx RR.

Okay thanks good citizen of XDA I'll try to flash a custom rom and I'll try to report back here ASAP
Hi,
Until yesterday i had LineageOS and everything worked fine.
I installed ViperOS and everything ok too, but without root. But then i made a new installation with superSU this time, and I dont know why NFC turns on and off constantly, even the menu settings that normally shows NFC is gone, I can see NFC state just in quick settings.
I dont think that is ViperOS rom problem, because nobody reported that issue.
I made the wipes cache, davilk, data and system few times, and problem continues. Plus, there are more things that continue from previous installations, and I dont know why because i made clean installations. For ex. it asks for patron before start android always after making clean installations...
Because of that, i think that for everything back to normal state, maybe there is a way to make wipes deeply that i dont know... also for NFC come to normal work, is that so?
Please, give me any help... Thanks
I solved it doing this:
I have installed rom stock by twrp, next one:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...l-sim-t3620551
Then i installed ViperOS. NFC is working ok again.
Regards

Thanks, but i dont agree. As i said, ViperOS was not the main aspect of my problem, it was a problem with the phone.
Hi everyone,
I have an issue with my wife's OP3 that is driving me nuts.
Her phone runs stock OS without any changes but with an unlocked bootloader (just to be on the safe side i like to have an unlocked bootloader on all our devices).
I'm not sure if its related but I'm including it anyways she was playing a game on her phone and then she received a call and she answered it and tried to switch the call to speakerphone and the phone started rebooting right after booting the OS after 2-5 sec i would say "factory data reset" (see attached screenshot) and would reboot to the recovery.
then i would boot the phone again and the issue repeats itself.
so i used fastboot boot twrp.img to boot a recovery image and run a nadroid backup to a USB OTG just in case the phone is really hosed or whatnot.
I downloaded stock zip from oneplus's site and flashed it again from TWRP just to make sure its not some funky issue that happened to the os.
I even factory reset the phone from stock recovery and the issue would happen on the new phone setup wizard.
after a bunch of fiddling around I've flashed LineageOS 16 nightly and the phone boots normally and is fully usable but when i try to make or receive a call the phone app freezes and then crashes also sound doesn't seem to work when i try to play videos from youtube for example.
Any ideas what is the issue and how i can resolve it ?
thanks a bunch !!

Take a backup of your personal files and then wipe system, data, internal storage and both caches. Then flash OOS 5.0.8 and without adding any apps, check the calling function. If it still happens, then most likely a hardware issue.

If it's a hardware problem which part should I replace?
I already ordered a battery before this issue started and I was planning on replacing it once it gets here maybe I can replace one of the parts in order to resolve this issue

Hmmm quite strange that you're having the same issue.
I didnt find a solution yet i gave her a temp replace phone that we had in a drawer somewhere.
Did your wife do anything out of the ordinary when it happened? are you having the same issue that LOS works but stock rom shows factory reset?
thanks.

No, She did not do anything out of the ordinary. But weirdly I have exactly the same things happening. Lineage works but no sound. Everything else factory resets. I have tried quite a few ROM'swithout any luck. So far the only ROM which worked for some time(1day) was 6.0.1 . I have spent quite a long time on this flashing various ROM and dont know what to do now.

Update: @ireaper4592 might have a point here. I have gone one level up and I tried msm v3.0 tool, thus doing a complete reinstall including firmware. The factory resetting stopped but the sound was not working (I thought that it could be the ROM and the security patches). So I updated to the latest ROM available from Oneplus and evrything has been working since. I did this last night so not sure how long this is going to stay like that. I will give it some time and update later. Wife is using it now!
what you will need to do is download the oneplus 3 recovery tool and put the phone into qualcolm mode and restore the phone that way. here is a link https://www.androidexplained.com/oneplus-3-unbrick-return-stock/

That tool/procedure will reset your phone. So you will lose everything on the phone. Take a backup beforehand.
The link posted in the post above yours contains the guide as well as the tools. It also has links to the original guide here on XDA.

I cant believe it i was sure this was a hardware issue which ended up being a software one that the MSM tool fixed.

Thank you for all your help!

Update: It IS possible to install Lineage OS GSI on the G8 Play. However, you will trigger a security error (nothing critical, since your phone will still boot up). To install it, you really need to flash the One Macro Firmware (evidently, your device can hard brick, but it's possible to fix it ). Later, you can flash the Lineage rom through fastboot.
Even though it's possible to install it and even boot it, the rom is buggy. It would be wonderful if anyone who knows better developing than me would work on this device, which has been abandoned for so long...
Some bugs of this rom are:
Fingerprint sensor sometimes triggers volume up or down.
The screen is not well adjusted, picture seems weird.
Dm-verity error which will not allow the phone to boot unless you press the power button again.
Bluetooth audio not working.
I have not tested the rom completely yet. However, I would like to get this forum revived again, with the possibility of "messing up" with the phone. It's not impossible, it just needs some attention
You can flash a blank vbmeta image to disable security error this may help with some issues. good luck and thanks for your contribution to the device forum. (also, sorry for bad english)

I already tried that on the official ROM and it didn't work. I only get a DM-Verity error amd a bootloop when trying to boot Lineage, which can be solved if flashing the stock ROM again.
It's possible install a arm-ab gsi or I need to install one macro arm64 firmware first?
