Did you try this yourself first? The first link on there is this thread.
It's funny this post is the first result returned...

lol i guess that went over your head, it was a joke...
seriously though, i have no idea what it is and i was just posting that up as a joke since this thread was the first thing that came up on the search. best of luck in finding out what it is though my man.
So....what is it? Aside from itself. It we define "gp_timer" as "gp_timer", we will obviously be correct, but this seems insufficient an answer as it does not further a true understanding of what gp_timer truly entails. Is it a timer? Is it a general practitioner? What does it do and why does it cause between 33 and 60% of wake ups as reported by powertop?
I have the same thing showing up in powertop on my mt3g with CM6.1(nightly)
According to the top of the kernel source code
It's "OMAP2 GP timer support."
Which after some more Google got me this showing that the GP stands for general purpose and it can be used to capture wireless frames.
Basically it's a probably a bit of code that will be polling hardware continuously to see if anything interesting happened. If it does then it can wake up something to handle that.
Main question is if it would still work if it was set to poll half as often, which could help with standby battery life. I'm guessing no, otherwise it would have been set to less.
It might also only be running as often as it is, because your connected to the phone checking the power usage...
I recently got my Droid Incredible and while researching I came across many topics on google about the "battery bug" in which various sites and forum posts report that the dinc doesn't charge all the way when it is turned on. There have been many supposed workarounds to get around the issue, which you guys probably already know, mostly involves turning off the phone after the phone reports that it is charged to 100%.
In any case, I was searching around this board and didn't find to much topics about this here, granted I only searched up to February. Does the bug actually exist or is it the battery management function that drains that falsely reports the 100% that I read in another topic here?
But suppose that it is real, are there any permanent fixes to this issue, such as through custom roms and/or kernals?
Sorry if this has been asked (a million times) before. Thought I'd get the best answer by creating a new topic. Thanks for the read.
Here's a big part of the info you're looking for...Your batter gauge is lying to you...

Thanks for the link, I will definitely sit down and read it next time I'm on the throne.
Just so I don't completely waste this topic, I'll ask my other question here: If I got a replacement for my dinc, how likely is it going to have some bad backlight bleeding? The one I have right now bleeds noticeably from the top and a little from the bottom.

If that is your only problem I wouldn't recommend playing the roulette game that is Verizon's Certified Like New program. There is little to no quality control and I managed to get 2 Incredibles that were completely unusable before finally getting one that worked at all.

Wait, they don't give you a new replacement? I'm still within in 14 day return period if that makes any difference.

Hmm, I'm actually not sure about that situation, I would demand it if I were you. But I can promise if you get outside of the 14 day return period you won't get anything but used, and a little light leakage is nothing compared to what you might end up with.
I noticed that there would sometimes (50% chance) that there will be a noticeable 1 second delay when pushing the power button and when the display actually turns on. It's annoying because sometimes i'll want to check the time, and i'll push the button as i'm taking it out of my pocket only to be met with a black display still.
i tried turning off the pattern lock thinkng that was it but still having the same problem.
i'm completely stock.
No delay here...when I press the power button, my display comes on instantly.

Still thread ****ting on every topic about the delay?
Its obvious why the delay doesn't bother you; you already have too much time on your hands.
Otherwise, it's an obvious flaw in the phone. Why don't you let other people worry about their own lives and how many seconds are wasted.

1 second is annoying when YOU'RE used to the display coming on instantly.
thanks for the link, i'll check it out.
yes its terrible anyone have a fix to this yet
If it's because of the SD card, trying increasing the SD Card Read Ahead Buffer. It can be built into the kernel or changed with a few market apps, or even a script. It'll also make photos/videos/anything from the SD card load faster.

Amen brother...
Isn't this forum built for people who want to get the most of their devices? If everyone just decided things were 'good enough' you wouldn't have devs here writing custom kernels and ROMs. If the issue doesn't bother you then don't bother posting in the thread. And if you absolutely must, don't be a douche about it.
OT: I noticed it too. This is my first smartphone, but it stood out. I assumed it was normal. It's not huge, but I definitely wouldn't mind a fix that didn't require abandoning my SD card.

Agreed, especially since it's a 32GB card and it's transferable between phones...
Screen lags reminds me of pre-pay gas purchases.
The last 2cents always take forever to complete.

This is your first smartphone and it stood out to you? I have had 15 smartphones and would have never noticed it until someone mentioned it. Like I said, I don't see this as an issue so I will speak my peace as you can to..we agree to disagree and just because we don't see it your way doesn't make us a douche....sorry for the loss of time in your life I'm...oh ****!...I missed the Andy Rooney farewell on 60 minutes because I couldn't get the time on my phone because it came up 2 seconds too late!

It's not a HUGE issue, but it is something that should be fixed.
In fact, just to move things forward, I tried increasing the SD Read Ahead Buffer with an app "SD Card Booster" or some name like that, which doesn't decrease the speed of the screen coming on, but does drastically cause photos and other things to load faster when you, say, open the Gallery. That was expected though. We used to increase it on the OG Evo.
Ive owned a few smartphones noticed ET lag after 3rd wake up.
First thing I thought of was Sprint Blackberry curve 8330-M.
It did the same thing drove me crazy lol
I tell you what...take your phone back to Sprint and tell them you have a 2 second lag and see what they say...maybe you can get a new phone...its obviously a defect...

Its not hardware defect....its software related thus Sprint will push you out the door no new phone in hand with chuckles from rep.
Will update to fix issue come?
Never! so those that think samsung gives a care you better think twice.
Oh I forgot,
My HP Ipaq 6515 had wake up lag with SD card as well
I have an AT&T M8 running CM11 with viper audio and have the volume the whole way up and it isnt loud enough so i was wondering if there was a headphone output volume mod or something.

I believe you are looking for something like this perhaps?
I haven't tested myself, so I can't vouch for it. But give it a try. Nothing to lose and everything to gain, right?
And as always, do a backup before you mod ANYTHING on your device.

Now that's funny
Well, I'll be the first to say it.
I don't think this phone will ever be rooted. No offense to the Devs that have worked hard on it, but the fact is, this phone has been out since late last year, with absolutely no hint of anyone cracking this nut.
I continue to hope it will gain root one day, but I'm not holding my breath for it either.
