You'll need to provide more info if you want help. What version of the phone, what software version. More specifics about what you've tried. (Re-add prints etc)

[TIP] Fingerprintreader

I stumble upon a semi-interesting thing when I was about to set up the fingerprint reader.
I always register the same finger 2-3 times to increase accuracy.
When I performed the process in my new Edge+ I saw that every time I logged in with an already enrolled finger to the menu for fingerprints, the phone highlighted one of the already enrolled prints thus gave an indication of which of the already enrolled prints that it matched my print to.
Difficult to explain, I´ll attach a few prints but thinking it could be helpful if you want to increase accuracy and want to update an already enrolled print that´s not accurate.

I read this a few times and I really can't reproduce what you are trying to explain. The image links you have provided don't help at all, sorry.

it recognises that you have already input that finger that's why it's so accurate it won't do it with a different finger

What he's trying to say is, when you go to the Settings where you enroll your fingerprints, if all of your fingerprints (out of 4) are already enrolled, when you press your finger to the home button, the menu highlights which finger (out of 4 enrollment) just touched the home button. So what he is saying is, we can use this feature to see if the fingerprint has been registered correctly or not and hence we can enroll same finger from different angles in multiple enrollment slots so that it enhances the detection process for one finger.
Frankly, I think the fingerprint sensor is already very quick and precise. Also, its wiser to register the fingerprint from different angle while enrolling one finger is much better than enrolling same fingerprint in multiple slots.
Nice tip op. Would never think to check it that way, but it is a good way to check if your noticing that it's often hard to unlike your phone with your finger print.

Fingerprint recording / storing issue

I am facing issues with the fingerprint scanner.
I am able to unlock the phone with the stored fingerprints.
However, I am unable to record new ones. I have not exhausted the fingerprints storage option and still have some left. Also, if I have my finger placed on the scanner while clicking on the 'add button', it briefly detects the fingerprint, but doesn't continue with completing the recording. It appears that it is not able to detect the fingerprint while in record mode, but it works fine for unlocking!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Why I can't find fingerprint

Hi,
I've asked why I can't see fingerprint ID in settings, So I did run adb shell > cat proc/app_info
and I notice that fingerprint is missing , probably because I drop my phone and the finger print in scratched really I don't know yet if the problem is in software or hardware .
Help Please ?

S9 fingerprint problem (only on lock screen)

So last night I rebooted my phone and found that my fingerprint scanner isn't scanning my finger.
When my screen is locked, the fingerprint scanner doesn't work, it just doesn't respond (it's not consistent, when I use different lock methods (power button method, root method, accessebility method, Xposed method) it works one time and then again stops working)
There are 3 options of what happens:
I turn off the screen and put my finger on the scanner
1) the device unlocks
2) the device screen turns on and shows me the screen as if I pressed the home or power button
3) I get no response (this seems to be happening if I pressed the power button when the device is already locked)
1 and 2 are not always consistent, and I haven't pin pointed what the cause is
If 1) happens, then of course it works as expected and it will vibrate if it's the wrong finger, and unlock if it's correct
If 2) happens, it's the same as 1) just the device doesn't unlock, but just the screen turns on
If 3) happens, then it doesn't matter which finger, there is no response
I tried safe mode, it still didn't work.
I tried magisk core mode, also didn't help.
I saw someone wrote that it might be because of the dinner print gestures, but I don't use them, so I tried to activate them and they fully work even when the scanner isn't scanning my finger...
The scanner itself works, any app that I can use biometrics would recognize my finger...
And I know my fingers are still recognized, I made sure to check in settings... I even removed all my registered fingers and put in new ones, I rebooted between each step to see if it helps...
I have no idea what caused this problem, if any one knows please help.
My phone's situation is SM-G9600,
Magisk, EdXposed (obviously I tried the scanner after disabling both by putting magisk in core mode)
Android patch level from 1 September 2019
If this helps- build number: PPR1.180610.011.G9600ZHU5CSI2
I'll be happy to provide any information that might be helpful
The S9 has a common problem where the fingerprint scanner becomes unreliable even if there's a small scratch on it. Could you upload a photo of the back of your phone?
Here are some pictures taken with the phone through a mirror, no scratches on the sensor... Also it works in other situations, like anything that has somthing to do with fingerprint other then the screen lock.
I checked the the logs and I have some strange things there, for some reason the device is turning the fingerprint scanner off as if I don't have any registered prints... I also asked a friend to send me his logs, and the look like what one would expect, I'll attach the screenshots of both logs

Question Fingerprint enrollment

Hello,
i am having very frustrating time trying to enroll a fingerprint on the phone. This is my first phone with in-screen fingerprint reader so i am not sure if this is the intented implementation. I want to enroll two fingerprints of the same finger (thumb) for better accuracy. Enrolling first fingerprint is no problem, but when i try to enroll the second one, halfway (sometimes sooner, sometimes later) trough the enrollment process i cant help but press with the part of the fingerprint which is already enrolled with fingerprint 1 and the enrollment progress is reset which means i have to start over. I also get the message that this fingerprint cannot be enrolled becauise it is already enrolled fith fingerprint 1. Of course, when i try to enroll once again, the exact same thing happens again and again to the point that is almost impossible to enroll two fingerprints of the same finger. So far I have been using xiaomi phones with physical fingerprint readers and enrolling two or more fingerprints of the same finger was no issue at all.
Can someone confirm whether this happens with in-screen fingerprint readers or is this an OP thing? Thanks.

you don't need to register your finger twice, once is enough
