Hello
Got a problem with my s20, it started with randomly shutting down, even when he has high battery, and i was able to power on again when i plug the charger for a second, after a while woth that problem it was getting worse and after that the phone can only power on when i connect a charger, so when i disconnect charger the phone just powered off directly
So ofcourse i was expecting that the battery is the problem, so i bought a new battery (the orginal battery ftom samsung)
and gues what!?
Just still the same problem, not able to power on when the charger is not connected...
So i have no suggestions anymore..
So anyone that know this problem or does have a idea where to look?
My model is G981B
I have to mention that i replaced the LCD display with a orginal one 2 months ago, maybe this can cause the problem?
Definitely sounds hardware. Id be leaning towards the charging board.

I'm going to say no. Not unless you had some engineering documents detailing what to test, and what values fall within acceptable tolerance.
For how cheap of a component it is I would just swap it out. You've already invested in a new battery and LCD, but if this doesn't solve your problems then you have to start asking yourself how much more you want to put into it. After this it really is starting to come down to the logic board, and then your getting into the hundreds of dollar range.

Hi I get this message whenever I plug it in to charge. I saw some threads but none of them had any solutions. Does anyone here know how to fix it?
Also, I read that samsung is replacing phones that are hardbricked due to a hardware problem. Is there anything that prohibits you from recieving the replacement if the galaxy s3 is hardbricked?

I had a similar problem with my Galaxy S2, some people said that it is necessary to replace some controller on the motherboard. But I have not found a solution.

The simplest workaround is to get an external charger where you take the battery out of the phone and insert it into a charger to do the charging.
I have 2 batteries and an external charger. That enables me to charge one battery and still use the phone with the other battery. You can always have a charged battery for use that way. I bought the external charger for $5 from Ebay

This happened to a co-worker's s4 after her Note 2 got wet. I replaced the USB charging flex cable inside the phone and everything went back to normal.

tell us wat battery (stock or imitations) n rom (stock or custom) r u using?
it can be defective battery, phone, custom rom problems.
btw, the latest xiaomi lte 4g note 4 is a good buy. :good:
ROM: Paranoid Android beta 6
Kernel: stock
Battery: no idea
Xiaomi Note 4G: Meh, idr like it cos no rom dev goin on
tat is imitation battery, change ur battery, most china-made imitations wun last.
orig battery is expensive, cost of orig battery can buy a few of those china-made imitations batteries.
buy one from authorized samsung shop, dun buy from any web sites, it maybe imitations as well or defective rejected goods.

Ik that but, seriously, is that the cost of unabling to charge my phone? Rite now, i have some juice left cos I managed to somehow use stock samsung usb cable and Apple adapter to charge my phone.
Upon plugging the cable to my device, i had to forcefully use my index finger to push the front part to the left side. THEN it started charging. Currently, im using PA and battery is good so far. Speaking of battery, this battery i bought is abt 4-6 months old now.

Don't use other charger ..
Take a look on (name plate) of adapter and output current, I am sure it is different from Samsung charger ..
More current more heat and decrease life of battery ..

Samsung charger outputs 0.5A power compared to Xiaomi and Apple charger head (which I've been using) that uses 1A output.
I heard the more current the faster it charges batteries. Ive been using those 1A charger the whole of my life.
Currently, i have to use Samsung USB cable and Apple's charger head to charge this phone up. Others won't work apparently. All i get is charging, then discharging, vice versa
I dismantled the phone also to see what might be the problem. Below the microusb slot on the pcb mainboard, theres abt 4-6 lines. It looks like small metal wire that doesnt move. But for some reason 1 of the lines were somewhat bronze or dark brown in colour. Any ideas?

The same reason
Be sure this chip made for 0.5A not 1A which will cause that browny wire (more heated)
You should fix it or replace the chip
samsung charger output is 5v 0.7a.
one guy use 12v 1a, he got problem with charging his phone.
burnt chip due to over amp charging.
Ah! Nice explanation both of you. Currently, i dont have stock Samsung charger cos it broke annoyingly. Is there any alternatives? Is USB charging ola

Hah, ofcos im not doing that. I had to move the cable abt and leave it like that. Any movement will interrupt the charge.

I had a Note 4 with a cracked screen, so I got a used replacement with motherboard. After install, the phone charges uber slow while plugged in. I mean 7hrs plus to fully charge. Using my Samsung Wireless charging pad (newer puck), it takes half the time.
Is charging this slow a common theme of a messed up usb port? Something amiss internally when I reassembled the phone? It's my daughter's now and it needs a new headphone jack, so I'm wondering if I should just pony up and replace the usb daughterboard while I'm at it.

it seems like you are using a low quality cable or charger or possibly a combination of both, get an oem charger/cable or a good branded one and you shouldnt have this issue.

This phone is my daughters, mine is a Note 5, which is the cable I use to charge her Note 4, all OEM connections. Mine charges like greased lightning and hers is like molasses rolling downhill. Its not the cable.
and the charger is the same too ? the only other reason if these two are oem is the ambient temperature, phone charge far slower when running at a higher temperature as compared to charging when cool

Yeah, it doesnt matter what temp it is. The phone could have sat dead for 3 days, it just charges slow.
really strange, the other aspect that controls the charging speed is the kernel , so unless you have a custom rom/ kernel , seems weird. Cant be the usb connector as thats a zero or one , either it works or doesn't . Shouldn't cause this behavior.
I have been browsing the web when suddenly my apps shut down and I got this message. This happened twice. What's going on?
Here are some screenshots
Maybe find the offending app?
Try booting in safe mode.
The same thing happens in safe mode. I suspect it has more to do with the fact that I recently opened the back cover to replace the USB connector and left speaker. Maybe I have disturbed contacts or some cooling components on the mainboard.

Did you disturb the heat sink on the cpu?If you did you will need some heat sink compound to mount it properly to the heat sink.
I run geekbench with the cover open and as the tablet was heating up I touched the backs of all mainboard parts and it appears that the part that gets hot is where the USB charger cable plugs into it. So I am guessing that this is related to the incident when I apparently "fried" the USB charger by plugging it into a malfunctioning USB hub. I changed the USB charger and its connector, but I guess this did not help.
I could change the mainboard if I could find one cheap. Gosh, those things are expensive. I see vendors selling them on ebay for well above 100USD, a surprising price for a three year old, used part. Those that are cheaper are sold already defective. For comparison, the mainboards of Samsung Galaxy S5 phone, which was a 2014 device of comparable performance are sold for just 30 bucks.

try to resolder the USB connector, if there is bad joint, that could cause a larger than expected resistance on the 5v or 0v return, this will act as a heating element at the solder joint.
In normal operation there can be up to 2A flowing through that connector, it will heat +10 degree even when functioning correctly, any extra resistance at that point is dangerous since its almost maxed out on thermal dissapation anyway.

Actually there's no need to change mainboard. This is a common problem of Samsung tablets when battery connector has cracked solder joints.
This is an example
Anyone knows how to solder can do it within 5 minutes
This is an example for a Tab 3, but similar to any Samsung tablets, most use the same battery connector
I fix mine and other tablets having problem of quick discharge, charging or overheating just by resolder the battery connector.
I just picked up an allegedly working T800 with 32GB board (!!) and a cracked screen for only 89 bucks on ebay. Considering my mad soldering skillz, I probably would need to have a backup board anyways, plus I could use this tablet for other spare parts, like the battery. The attachment shows precisely the area that seems to get hot to touch.
so would 50c for the cpu and battery be normal for this tablet? (was running a game)
?my was boost on 1600Mhz 81°C all the time
Hi, I brought a Nokia 6, for my 11 year old son about a month ago.
It was fine until about 4 days ago, when fast charging stopped working, and it only charges very slowly. If the phone is switched off, then it charges at a rate of about 4% per hour, so an overnight charge will charge the battery from empty to about 35%. If the phone is booted but otherwise idle, then the charger will just about keep up with power consumption and the battery percentage does not increase or decrease.
I have tried multiple chargers, cables and power banks. It makes no difference. The fact that I get slow charging when the phone is off suggests that the culprit is unlikely to be a battery draining app.
There is a suspicion of hardware damage, as my son may have pulled the charging cable out, or pushed it in too hard, bent it sideways or the like, though the set of symptoms is odd for a hardware issue, and feels more like software, and in any case the USB type C connector is normally very robust.
The phone is running the latest stock firmware from Nokia. It is not rooted unlocked or the like.
Has anyone seen anything similar? Can you suggest what I can do to investigate the problem further?
Did any of those support Qualcomm quick charge 3 or 4? Try installing Ampere on his phone and check the current from a fast charger with a good USB C cable. If it shows something in the neighborhood of 1500mA to 2300mA this is a software problem. Otherwise this is a hardware problem from somewhere along the circuit. At best all cables you tested are bad. At worst your phone needs a repair.

I don't think any of the charges I used support Qualcomm quick charge, is it worth buying one on amazon prime to check?
I will install Ampere and report back.

If you are the type to charge your phone overnight I don't think you need it unless you forgot. Running with a 50-70
Battery is better than having a dead battery, so it is worth it for the safety of mind.
My Nokia charger seems to support it out of the box. It has [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected] Depending on where you got it yours could very well be similar to mine.

I installed Ampere, and it is reporting charge rates of 150 to 450 mA using a generic charger and cable, that works fine with my OnePlus phone. I will have to find the original Nokia charger to be sure, but it does look like some sort of hardware issue.
Thanks.

Yeah I noticed the phone is picky about what charges it and what doesn't, probably the phone playing it safe with keeping the lithium in good condition.

Interesting. I have charged my TA-1068 on all types of chargers. All have worked within an average amount of time. I wonder if different models are more or less picky. To me, it sounds as if the charging port might be damaged. Kids tend to be tough on equipment.

True, the phone itself might be one or two steps from being a brick with a decent smartphone inside but ports are not always invincible.
Quick update: I took the phone back to the store, and the store decided that it was probably a defect in the phone (not user damage) so they have sent it to Nokia for warranty work. With luck I should get it back repaired in a week or so.
I will post again to report the outcome.
I too noticed this traveling

If i use the OE charger its fine but once i tired to use the USB port on my car stereo or cig lighter USB adapter it actually drained the battery and it wouldnt prompt a USB charging curtain notification but it would show the lighting bolt/battery icon. Or the notification curtain would display the last thing i used USB for like moving pictures instead of every other phone ive ever owned which would default to USB charging
