Does Gcam really make better pictures on the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite? - Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite Questions & Answers

My twin brother who has a Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro suggested me (I've a Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite) to use Gcam as the camera app.
But after I watched some comparison videos I'm confused because the pictures are kinda the same.
So does Gcam on the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite really make better pictures?

In my experience it depends on the situation. Gcam is usually better in low light and especially at night. Stock camera takes better/more natural photos during the day. Gcam often provides much more details in photos, which might be welcome in some situations, but for example in portrait photography it's very distracting.
All in all, if you want "point & shoot" (or use other than main lens), use stock app. If you're willing to switch back and forth, install also gcam and use it when needed.

OnePlus 5T versus Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 camera quality

Hello,
I was wondering which of these 2 phones has the better camera quality. I've read many bad things about the OnePlus 5T's camera but it being a "flagship" should mean that the camera should at least be better than the camera on a budget phone.
What do you think? The camera on the Xiaomi seems to be really good when you look at the reviews.
Thanks.
Watch videos on YouTube, the note 5 pro is pretty poor , especially video , but it's a 3rd of the price

Mi 9 SE camera(s) vs Mi 9

How do the Mi 9 SE cameras compare to the Mi 9? As neither of them seem to have OIS, from a quick glance, there seems to be a lot less difference between the two in terms of camera(s) this round, than with Mi 8 (SE).
It would be interesting to see a review and/or side by side photo examples shot with the different devices. If looking at GSMArena specs, the main camera is almost exactly the same (the SE missing Laser AF), with slight differences in aperture and pixel size between the telephoto and wide angle cameras. Also on super slow motion (960 fps) the SE doesn't support 1080p as the Mi 9 does, only 720p - which is due to the SD 710s capabilities I'd assume.
I've attached a table with what gsmarena has listed as the camera specs, however, these might change when more information is available (snapshot taken Feb 22nd).

960/240 fps slow motion missing?

Hi,
Is there a reason for the slow-motion 240 and 960 fps modes not included in this phone?
My device only showing 1080P/120 and 720p/120 modes.
Can anybody explain why?
Regards.

Those modes are for mi 10t which has sony sensor. Mi 10t pro has samsung sensor that doesn't have that speeds but has 108mp resolution. Bad thing is they never said anywhere about this...
I didn't know that, thank you for explanation.
It's a shame that this phone doesn't have at least 240 mode...

They both use a 108mp Samsung sensor but the Mi 10T pro uses an HMX version that only supports 120. What you would need is the Samsung 108mp HM1/2 sensor but that only supports 240fps anyway.

Some corrections needed here:
MI 10T (regular) uses Sony's sensor, IMX682. I think it supports 480fps max at 1080p (if someone could correct me).
Mi 10T Pro uses Samsung HMX sensor, which can go max to 148fps at 1080p.
Samsungs HM1 used in top level S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra can go 240fps at 1080p.
What about HM2 i'm not sure. There is no actual released phone yet (probably Redmi Note Pro 9 5G will be). -> Correction : HM2 can do 360fps at 1080p or 240fps at 4K. Quite impressive i think.

It seems I did a mistake with 10Tpro :/ No tele, no 720p slowmo, no moon Mode..
Well, you do use phone for more than just photos and moon mode, right? And Google camera can do impressive astrophoto which can trash moon mode everyday...
Now, i do believe that this will be mitigated in the future and that we'll see some upgrades in camera in the future
Slow motion video on 10T pro is the worst experience I have ever had in my happy time with my xiaomi. When you select slow motion mode. 10T pro only filmed a normal short clip. And then the video slows down by algorithm by the original Gallery app. This means when you share this clip with someone else. They will receive an original video at a normal rate.. !!

You have to save slowed version of video through the gallery app. It's option is right at the top. Then you can share the converted video.
Because yes usually its 120fps, so it plays at that frame rate. If you want slowed version, you have to do it manualy and decide which segments of frame will be normal and which is slowed down.

Then how on earth Samsung s20 ultra is capable of 960fps
The 108mp photos are crap,no tele,no slow motion...
But the main camera is amazing! excellent quality astrophotography!
Moon mode would be nice but how many times you gonna photo moon?

It doesn't. It does 480 hardware and then interpolates to 960 but there are artifacts. I gave up samsung ultra models, that's so disappointing.

Image Quality

The regular 10T's image quality is pure garbage in all modes. Is the Pro much better? Might trade up if so.
Seeking opinions based on personal usage.
I've had very good results on the 10T Pro with various GCam versions. Resolution is astounding in good lighting and focus. The stock camera seemed ok though with little use, but didn't seem to create the full 27MP images from the main sensor.
10T Pro images in good light are good for stock and gcam, maybe stock produces even better pics in good light.
At night, gcam is better.
Overall picture quality is great on my 10T Pro!

Blurry camera on close up shots

Hey all,
Saw this thread regarding the blurry photos on close up shots
Photo quality
Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Xiaomi Mi 10T / 10T Pro come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and...

Does this happen to all/most mi 10t pro models? Also same with the non pro? Would appreciate any feedback
I was just about to pick this phone up, I usually do super noob photography on a lightbox holding a small object in my hand, on a fairly regular basis, for ebay. My old redmi note 7 pro has been good enough for the past few years but recently died.
Any feedback is appreciated before i pull the trigger.
Liking the specs and the price.

Hi, as an owner of Mi 10T I can also say that this happens on my device too. From what I read this is due to the large camera sensor and it's not a hardware bug. It just gives a more natural bokeh to the other objects which are far from the one in the center. If you're shooting a distant scene there's no problem. This is a downside of the large sensors used in smartphones these days.
Apart from that phone is very good - both in pics and video and its performance/price is amazing.

Hey, thanks for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it.
Looks like I might have to look for devices with smaller sensors. only problem is I don't know which one to get lol.
Really really wanted the Mi 10T.

Nowadays it's hard to find a decent phone without large sensor - this is the trend now. It's not a big deal as for really close shots you can use the macro camera.
I agree, I'll look around a bit but I might just get this as I really need a phone right now. Photos I take are about half an arm's length away from the back of the phone's camera, I'm still quite unsure if macro will work on this (total noob.). I've been using Open Camera for 3/4 years and that's all the camera app I know. Cheers mate.

I think that this phone will work for you and you can always manually focus on sth plus the center of the image is always sharp.
The new Galaxy A52/72 have good cameras but other specs are weaker than Mi 10T. It's up to you to decide.
Good luck,
zaqm
