Hi,
Is there a reason for the slow-motion 240 and 960 fps modes not included in this phone?
My device only showing 1080P/120 and 720p/120 modes.
Can anybody explain why?
Regards.
Sub
Those modes are for mi 10t which has sony sensor. Mi 10t pro has samsung sensor that doesn't have that speeds but has 108mp resolution. Bad thing is they never said anywhere about this...
I didn't know that, thank you for explanation.
It's a shame that this phone doesn't have at least 240 mode...

They both use a 108mp Samsung sensor but the Mi 10T pro uses an HMX version that only supports 120. What you would need is the Samsung 108mp HM1/2 sensor but that only supports 240fps anyway.

Some corrections needed here:
MI 10T (regular) uses Sony's sensor, IMX682. I think it supports 480fps max at 1080p (if someone could correct me).
Mi 10T Pro uses Samsung HMX sensor, which can go max to 148fps at 1080p.
Samsungs HM1 used in top level S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra can go 240fps at 1080p.
What about HM2 i'm not sure. There is no actual released phone yet (probably Redmi Note Pro 9 5G will be). -> Correction : HM2 can do 360fps at 1080p or 240fps at 4K. Quite impressive i think.

It seems I did a mistake with 10Tpro :/ No tele, no 720p slowmo, no moon Mode..
Well, you do use phone for more than just photos and moon mode, right? And Google camera can do impressive astrophoto which can trash moon mode everyday...
Now, i do believe that this will be mitigated in the future and that we'll see some upgrades in camera in the future
Slow motion video on 10T pro is the worst experience I have ever had in my happy time with my xiaomi. When you select slow motion mode. 10T pro only filmed a normal short clip. And then the video slows down by algorithm by the original Gallery app. This means when you share this clip with someone else. They will receive an original video at a normal rate.. !!

You have to save slowed version of video through the gallery app. It's option is right at the top. Then you can share the converted video.
Because yes usually its 120fps, so it plays at that frame rate. If you want slowed version, you have to do it manualy and decide which segments of frame will be normal and which is slowed down.

Then how on earth Samsung s20 ultra is capable of 960fps
The 108mp photos are crap,no tele,no slow motion...
But the main camera is amazing! excellent quality astrophotography!
Moon mode would be nice but how many times you gonna photo moon?

It doesn't. It does 480 hardware and then interpolates to 960 but there are artifacts. I gave up samsung ultra models, that's so disappointing.

How do the Mi 9 SE cameras compare to the Mi 9? As neither of them seem to have OIS, from a quick glance, there seems to be a lot less difference between the two in terms of camera(s) this round, than with Mi 8 (SE).
It would be interesting to see a review and/or side by side photo examples shot with the different devices. If looking at GSMArena specs, the main camera is almost exactly the same (the SE missing Laser AF), with slight differences in aperture and pixel size between the telephoto and wide angle cameras. Also on super slow motion (960 fps) the SE doesn't support 1080p as the Mi 9 does, only 720p - which is due to the SD 710s capabilities I'd assume.
I've attached a table with what gsmarena has listed as the camera specs, however, these might change when more information is available (snapshot taken Feb 22nd).
Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Samsung Galaxy S11 come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Few testing photos
I've loved the quality from the camera , I came from a Galaxy s10 and the difference is crazy noticeable, man the sharpness , contrast ,detail , zoom , bro is amazing I'm freaking nin love with this phone , sorry I can't upload photos , xda app says "bad request" ?
I don't know...the quality of the zoom is pretty junk
cause there is no zoom just sensor cropping and pathetic pricing, try Mi 10 pro
I like S20 Ultra 108Mpx sensor. Mostly I'm shooting on this sensor with export to 12Mpx in Lightroom if I'm not using 0.5x or 4x lenses.
https://photos.miksa.cz/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-Ultra-5G/Plucinske-skaly-18042020/
So I had an exynos S20, camera was very poor even after the update.
The 64mp camera had practically no auto focus, and the lag in taking the pic ment blur on every photo.
The lower resolution helped with the auto focus however still lag in the photo taking.
I am so much mad at this quality of photos near objects
I was trying to send my friend photo some resistors , and tried 5 times and photo is not sharp !

shame on me that I sold my old pixel4XL phone
Ultra has problem with close photo. Try more distance and zoom.

The main camera isn't for shots that close
I hadn't had a Samsung phone for a while, and I've come from a Mate 20 Pro, so although the camera on my S20+ "can" be better, it sometimes isn't at all. Macro is one area where Huawei does it so much better, all you need to do on a Huawei phone is get close to the target and the ai automatically switches camera lens for you to the best option, and focuses perfectly... This is something Samsung seems to lack, and it's a big miss for me. But surely, something that can be added in software.

Used to hate that with my P30, there was no way to disable AI from switching to macro, if they'd added that feature to the AI on/off function it would have made a lot more sense
Didn't you just used to turn off Master Ai? That's what I used to do on the Mate 20 Pro on the odd occasion and it was very easy, but personally I thought it was mostly a great feature.

Yes, as I said, disabling AI made no difference for macro auto
Oh right, that's wierd it worked fine on my Mate 20 Pro.

Even my old iPhone 7 takes better photos then my S20+ Exynos
Make a comparison and show results.
Hello guys , I have a p40 pro , I just get it and I can still return it ...the thing its that I'm thinking to move to S20 Ultra , It's worth it ? From what I saw the camera on S20 Ultra its pretty bad .
Also, if someone knows , In UK at vodafone , wich version its sold , Ex or Snapdragon ?
I'm thinking about samsung because it has google services and much more development , but camera it's very important as well .

what is your device? no issues for me S20 Ultra exynos
One thing I miss with my current Mi 10 Ultra is the posibility to jump between lenses during filming. For example: If I film with the normal lens and an object comes closer to me I could zoom out and the phone switched to the ultravide lens.
Mi 10 Ultra does not support this ( to my suprise, I come from a P30 pro and there it was seamless).
Does anyone know if OnePlus 9 Pro supports this?
Yea it does , but only 1080p 30fps supports ultra wide, main and telephoto, or else it is just ultra wide and main for all other modes apart from 4k 120fps which is only for the main
I would like to use this thread to specifically discuss the video camera performance against other phones.
Spread some reviews, video comparisons - voice your thoughts, your experiences, whatever bothers you or whatever you like.
I'm going to start with that one
Google Pixel 6 Pro vs Xiaomi 11T Pro- 4K 60
For some interesting reason, it seems that our P6 Pro swipes the floor with Xiaomi, HDR in video mode is spot on, whilst it's not that good in "normal" camera/stillshot mode. Google definitely has to improve upon still shot HDR/over sharpening (as discussed in other threads). Video performance though (at least in good lighting conditions) is very good.
Mind, of course, the camera limitations. Pixel 6 Pro only uses dedicated lenses (ultrawide/tele) when using 4K 30, they do not work in 4k 60. Hopefully Google can improve/ "fix" that in a future update.

Its not just the lens. Each lens has its own sensor, and they are not all the same sensor, nor are they attached using the same interface, so the hardware may not support higher framerate on the smaller sensors.
Is there any work to provide 60 fps support for the ultrawide camera? some xda god is working on it?

unfortunately that crap sensor from 2015 does not even support 1080p 60fps, I don't understand why they use that crap instead of going for newer sensor that can do that, the regular S22 supports it.
U think that the problem is an hardware limitation or there is a way to solve it via software or by a samsung update firmware?

hardware ofc, why else would they limit it to 30 fps?
It is not sure, my old note 20 ultra come with an 30fps ultrawide recording camera, after some time, a fjrmware update bringh me th 60 fps ultrawide recording option. I hope samsung can do the same think with my fold 4

that ultra wide is the same introduced with S20, bigger, better and newer, same one as S22, it does support 60fps but Flip and Fold keeps getting the ancient CRAP sensor.
I think that it will be enabled via firm/software update. We saw that in the N20 series and, the UW câmera can record 4K30 so it is able to deal with the data of 2K60 (roughly the same bandwidth)... Maybe the problem is lack of time to sync and adjust frame pacing...

I don't know how much clearer I can be, this is the same UW camera used in first Flip, Flip/Fold3 and they haven't got any update to 60fps as the camera sensor don't support it, otherwise it should have been there from day one, S22 does support it because of better sensor.

According AndroidCentral`s review, It's a newer sensor as published here: https://www.androidcentral.com/phones/heres-how-much-better-the-galaxy-z-fold-4-cameras-are
"The Ultra-wide sensor and cover camera sensors are the same resolutions but are newer sensors than what's in the Fold 3."
If you have another source, a maybe a teardown, we can ask for a correction on AndroidCentral article...
According SamMobile (https://www.sammobile.com/news/sams...as-a-mixed-bag-of-new-and-old-camera-sensors/) the Ultrawide sensor is a Sony IMX258 and the datasheet indicates 1080p60 support (https://www.electronicspecifier.com/attachment/view/59aeb13e5a8ec97c2c8b4570/Sony IMX258 Datasheet)
And also SamMobile thinks there is a chance of Fold 4 receives a uppdate to shoot UW at 60Fps: https://www.sammobile.com/news/sams...ort-4k-60-fps-ultra-wide-video-recording-yet/

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 review
The Galaxy Z Fold4 comes with a very similar rear camera setup to the one found on the Galaxy S22 and S22+. The selfie situation, meanwhile, is the same...
m.gsmarena.com
For the ultrawide, our Fold reports the Sony IMX 258 - a fairly ancient imager with a 1/3.06" optical format and 1.12µm pixels. Its native resolution is 13MP, but Samsung lists it at 12MP, and that's the size of images it outputs. While the sensor itself has AF capability, the camera as a package doesn't support it. The lens covers a 123-degree field of view, as per Samsung's specs, and has an f/2.2 aperture. That's the Fold3's contribution to the rear setup, while the S22 uses a nicer 1/2.55" sensor with 1.4µm pixels.

I don't know but it's still a crap sensor that is being used, I could record 60fps with S20, S21, S21 Ultra and S22 with the UW camera, so no way the Fold is getting any software update that enables it.
