Pixel experience - Xiaomi Redmi 5A Questions & Answers

I am using pixel experience based on android 10.Really it is far better than miui. But many games... Like coc is not running and some time the rom is lagging. Should i try android 11 beta? Or there is any other smooth rom.

I don't know what coc is but there are some games who will refuse to run on a rooted device. Is your device rooted? Are you able to get some stats on the rom to see resources uses?

Problem with Asphalt 8 on 4.3 roms

Hi there!
About month ago i flashed an android 4.3 rom (Mokee OS 43.0), and i've succesfully installed and run Asphalt 8:Airborne. I'm sure that this game is 100% compatibible with Android 4.3 because of OpenGL 3.0 support of New Nexus 7 tablet.
Anyway i've back to 4.2 rom because i wanted to end up some older games. Recently i flashed 4.3 again, and there is the problem. Some games like Asphalt 8 are installing, but they doesn't work. When I run Asphalt 8 i have "force close popup" or the game just doesn't start.
The more interesting is that, if I will delete Asphalt 8 app, i can't install it again, the app won't install. I tried some OG 4.3 roms like: Paranoid Android 3.99 , PAC-MAN, MokeeOS 43.0. Every time i made a full wipe before flashing.
I don't know what i did wrong. If it was working of 4.3 , why now doesn't work?

Does it allow you to install from Playstore or does it show 'device is not compatible' ?
Sometimes app developers keep putting devices in and out of compatibility lists.
I've had this experience with other devices.
Example, Subway Surfer was compatible with Samsung's grand, then suddenly they made it incompatible for 4 months, now it's compatible again.

geez, man, the problem is throttling and lack of peformance on stock . I want to play Asphalt 8 on 4.3 rom because of better performance, i hate when my phone is hot and framerate is choppy.

What is it ultimate version?
Lol....you guys kill me with thermal sh!t. I will make a video of this phone running the latest games on stock rom. And i play alot. Mc4,fifa14,rr3,asphalt 8 and many more.
Not the slightest issue. The only thing bothering me is in rr3, not in game itself, but on the menus after and between events. But the games run as smooth as it can be.
Asphalt 8 is running pretty smooth on my gf's xperia arc s. So you tell me a game that is not that resource hungry as others,is giving a top flagship headaches???

Kimitza is right. I have Asphalt 8 too, I have been playing it everyday, not the slightest lag, issue, etc.

That's weird, did you noticed that phone is much warmer after 10-15 minutes of playing? On demanding games of course.
I mean lag on highest graphic settings. I know that Adreno 320 is very powerfull gpu, but i know that official software doesn't use all his full power.
Games on New Nexus 7 works much smoother (the same cpu, mem and gpu but better smoothness), i don't want to enjoy games playing on medium or low quality, i want to enjoy full features of it, and play on highest possible settings without any lags, because i know it worked.

P600 stuck on 4.4.2 - need upgrade for speed and reliability

I have an Australian version (XSA) of the Note 10.1 sm-p600 which was only ever upgraded to 4.4.2 (latest official release).
I find the performance sluggish when playing games (eg Clash Royale) and want to see if a new ROM will improve the speed but want minimal fuss. I would like to know people's suggestions of which ROM to use that will give me a faster but still stable experience.
Is the official 5.1.1 any good? Do I need to go custom? I want to avoid having to do complicated installs as well if possible.
I mostly play games and watch YouTube on it and maybe some sports apps to get scores. Nothing that really requires root (and some of the sports apps don't like root).
Thanks in advance.
Just checked my build and it looks like it is already on 5.1.1 - I must have updated it last year and forgotten.
Still not happy with the load times of Clash Royale, any other suggestions about making the tablet run faster? It seems to still have a decent processor and RAM despite being a few years old.
Well, you're running 5.1.1 right? Probably the only thing left is to go to Development section and install Prime Kernel V6, it's the last version for lollipop touchwiz. That one has a couple of tweaks to improve the standard performance offered by stock/factory software. Make sure to backup everything, and then flash the zip. Updating kernel has no need to wipe or reformat anything so no data is lost, but do it just in case.
To get more juice out, you'd have to install custom ROMs, like LiquidDeath from the Original Development section, that has a couple of new stuff like the updated GPU driver ported from marshmallow touchwiz apparently, and from my subjective view, performance is better along with increased battery life.
I don't do much gaming, but on stock 5.1.1 with stock kernel I usually get around 7 hours screen on time browsing the web, but with LD I can go around 10 to 11 hours easy with the same usage.
Thanks. I'll check out the kernel first.
Would you suggest LiquidDeath or LineageOS?
Sorry for the late reply, lol. I assume you've been running touchwizz/stock Samsung lollipop this while, but using that custom kernel I've mentioned? How was the experience? If that works fine with you, I believe there's no need for custom ROMs.
I test and run random ROMs many times, liking to flash stuff and all. If you want to try out the waters, the most rock-solid, no-issues release so far is probably the last release of LiquidDeath, mostly because it has less crud, and therefore fewer potential to go wrong. Lineage is good too, but I prefer keeping it simple.

MIUI or Vanilla Android?

Dear all,
This is my first Xiaomi phone and my first experience with MIUI. I love MIUI so far so good, I think it's a very fast ROM and has awesome features, such as full screen feature where there is no navigation buttons at the bottom of screen and you just swipe from the edges of screen.
However,
I see that many people don't like MIUI and most of the kernels don't support MIUI. Why is this? Is vanilla android ROMs, such as Pixel Experience, AOSIP, RR, etc better than MIUI? How? Do they have full screen feature like the one on MIUI? I've never used any ROM other than MIUI so far, so I don't know. And I would want to know if there are any advantages before trying them out blindly.
Also, could you please advise which kernels can be used with MIUI? Serious answers please.
Regards,
I really prefer Pixel Experience like ROM. You know, Xiaomi add their ads in their system software, you will not like that. Xiaomi do not control ads contents, it's a third party company who decides the content of ads. So, your kid may see sexual ads while using your phone.
Miui is good but now a days xiamoi is becoming greedy you know adds too many and bugs .that's all nothing else to hate
Yes, edge gestures are there in RR. I use them personally.

I am not playing game. I usually use my phone for news, facebook, reading novels. I played game several days ago, it may last around 5 hours for a light game. Normally, without game, it can last 8 hours on screeen.
With MIUI 10 my battery life goes bad... Before i had about 3 days, now i only get 2 days... I want to try another rom now. Maybe pixel experince rom.
Can someone help me a little bit here, too?
My questions:
1.)
Is battery life nearly the same like with miui - will i get my 3 days (with light use) back?
2.)
Is full gesture control (no bottom back, menu, homescreen buttons) working in pixel experience rom too?
3.)
Is face unlock working in pixel experiece rom too? Is it the same like in miui or is this another face unlock app from google? Which one is better/faster?
4.)
Is camera working in pixel experince rom out of the box? Is camera as good as miui camera? Is all working in pixel camera?
5.)
Is there any big bug in a non-miui rom? Some missing (big) features?

Oh man you should move to custom rom if you play games. In MIUI I can't play AOV 60 fps, can't run PUBG on HDR setting, it was a pain since our phone's specification actually can do it. You can see other phone with exactly same spec can run it right (Asus Max Pro M1).
I don't expect to get those features when changing to custom ROM since I just wanted to upgrade to Android Pie, but when I run the games unexpectedly those features enabled by default. So satisfying ?
It's simple. If MIUI is enough for you, just use it. If you wanna MIUI features, like gestures or dual apps, just use MIUI. It's simple

How to make my Nexus 5X smoother?

Hi,
I have a Nexus 5x and I know that is an old phone, but I want to still use it as my main phone. Lately I experienced very annoying lags and I'm tired wiping it every 3-4 months to make it smoother. I'm on stock 8.1. I think the main issue is that this phone has only 2gb of ram and it runs out quickly...
So my question is: is there some way to make it smoother? Installing custom rom (even older than 8.1) will help me? Or maybe stock but older than 8.1? Or some other tricks and tweaks?
I don't play games (only have one - forge of empires, it's very static game), I use Fb Messenger, what's app, Instagram, evie launcher, Spotify, twitter, Medium, chrome, bank app, YouTube, SwiftKey and some of Google apps. That's it, I'm not a heavy user. Oh and my phone had a bootloop that was fixed about 2 years ago.
Any recommendations?
Thank you in advance,
Simon.
@brylcio16, flash a slim custom-ROM: Lineage (Oreo), Groundzero or Cypher or AEX (Pie) +lowest GApps you need. 2MB RAM isn't so much, but enough for a slim layout.
You can try LineageOS 15.1 . I'm using this rom for almost 2 months and haven't face any lag in any single day. I am also a normal user just like you. This rom also provides weekly security updates and believe me, it's just buttery smooth. If you flash this rom, try to flash nano or pico gapps.

Question Best MIUI MOD do you prefer and why?

Im EvoX user but since no update and some bugs i've tried MIUI 13 Elite CN Free version but lack of customization but good performance and battery life,
Im a fans of aosp but MIUI still give more potential than aosp in my opinion. My complain on MIUI 13 is the app you close is closed and will have no notification unless you give permission to run on background and sometimes the app is auto closed (like adguard & google photo didnt backup) and i should open it again.
Im planning to try another MIUI custom rom like MIUI MOD by OG, VNa.
Please share your experience using MIUI Custom Rom or do you have recommendation? Thanks
For gaming, Try MIUI Mod OG. Performance is at par and you will get default 90 fps in PUBG even the device at Bootcamp manages to give 75+ fps in fights.
Only con is there's no throttling limit in Rom so device might get hear much and will affect battery life for future usage.
But to gain something, you have to lost something which applies here.
You can try MIUI Casnova Rom too, it is like MIUI mod OG and performance is more better in that rom in gaming but it's development has been stopped now.
For daily use, try MIUI VNa for stable performance or MIUI VN for daily stable use with few extra modifications available but VNa is more stable.
In AOSP, try Pixel rom once
There's some issue like you mentioned of delayed notifications in MIUI mod OG but VN is fine in that case.
I'm trying Greeshan feels fast and stable. Have 3 days with it. Google the name and there's a webpage: iT-DroiD-ZoNe by greeshan
