Hi, yesterday phone admin made factory reset by remote control and now phone is empty. There was a lot of photos and info in it. Is there any chances to recover data or at least some photos? And how to do it?

If you have created a backup before, you can restore from there.
I assume that you do not have s backup.
On some devices, there is a kind of trash/paper bin, in which you can find deleted files.
If not on your device, you can connect your device to a PC (via USB cable), and check with a recovery tool if it can detect deleted files to be restored on the internal storage of your phone.
You should really create a backup of all your files regularly, when you're phone admin is performing a remote factory reset from time to time. Or insert an external sd card/USB storage to copy your files in a place that is not affected by a factory reset.
Usually on a PC hard drive you can run a data recovery software to try and get things back. I believe with phones its a bit different. Once you factory reset it sets every bit on the phones memory to a 1, so its impossible to get everything back.
I could be talking out my arse however.

Hey,
I want to mess around and most likely break things but i want to know i can recover from it ^_^
Soft reset = restart device yes?
Hard reset = ?? dose it have a backup rom in there or something what exactly dose this do
Can i backup and later restore the entire rom? as far as i can see i need to pay for something like this which seems to me like a very very basic feature...
Looking foward to putting my mind at rest so i can start breaking things =D
Cheers
Hello! Hard reset means that you reset your device to the manufacturer's default. Well, that means: after a hard reset:
- When you turn your device ON, it acts exactly as the first time you did it
- You won't loose the ROM
- You will loose everything you did after the first use. That means, for example: contacts, installed applications, pictures, sms, emails, installed applications, phone configuration, ect...
- What won't be deleted: contacts on SIM card, everything on Memory Card. I recommand you to save on your mem card: contacts, pictures, CAB files (so it's easy to re-install apps after hard reset), media files (music and video, but usually you won't put them on the device memory, so no problem there)
- Well, basically, after a hard reset, it's like you turn on your phone for the first time (except that your memory card won't be formated)
You can backup your contacts-email-contactspictures-sms using PIM backup. Just save the backup file in the memory card or on your PC. Then restore it after hard reseting your device. More informations here: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-pim-backup-v2-8.html
I hope that helps you!
Thx for the reply ^_^
So if i go into file explorer and delete everything, a hard reset will fix that?
Just want to know if its just resetting settings and del personal data/programs, or if its reloading all the files into the rom from.. somewhere else.
Trying to get an idea of what i cant recover from, or if i download something suspect, can it do any lasting damage

Well... no and yes.
No, you won't be able to delete everyting using File Explorer , and Yes a hard reset will clean up all your mess and "reinstall" Windows Mobile from scratch afterwards. It's more or less like formatting your PC's hard drive and then use the recovery partition or CD/DVD to rebuild everything up to the original state.
I would advise you to remove your memory card before hard reseting... just in case. Better safe than sorry.
MMMk i think i get how it works then ^_^
There is 1 rom and it just restricts access to origonal files and restores a copy of origonal settings? So its unlikely my curiosity will get the better of me by editing or deleting things, time for some fun =D
Thx for the replys!
"Sprite Backup" will not restore ROM (nor will any other backup software) - but Sprite will backup/restore *every* other setting, let you browse backup files, and makes self-restoring backups.
I have Note 5110 wireless that was working perfectly. Then my Note 8 updated to 4.2.2, And apparently I am another victim of what seems to be a common problem. I am now missing the sidebar and split screen functions and the Pencil function. I have tried suggested means other than a Factory Reset. In order to do a factory reset I need to do a Backup. I am trying to figure out how to get my missing functions back.
I had to figure out how to put the Note in PTP mode to connect to the Helium Console on my desktop computer which took a while, but got it done.
I installed the Helium App and easily did a complete backup to my 32Gb External SD card. The backup function on the Note says it will delete everything, but does that include the External SD card as well or do I need to remove the SD card?
My question is I don't understand, how to the backup restore is done after the Factory Reset, as the Helium App on my Note will be gone. If someone knows the process your help would be greatly appreciated.
Auto Backup was on and it said the backup was stored on my Gmail address but I could not figure that one out. I guess Google has it stored somewhere, But I did not want to take a chance, hence the Helium App.
Thanks to the Gurus for any help! Or any other suggestions.

Just download Kies and do the backup, then do the Factory reset. Your sdcard data won't be deleted.
After reset, open kies again and there will be a restore option, and you are going to recover your data.
Hello,
I've done ROM flashes where instructed to perform full wipes through the recovery menu, or while in the OS. But when selling/getting rid of old Android phones (today, specifically speaking of the Note II i317 AT&T) will it make my personal data unrecoverable by methods I've used in the past to recover accidentally deleted photos/documents?
Basically, I don't want to sell my phone and Joe Blow to be able to recover all (or any) of the private pics/sensitive data of said phone (ie steal/sell my identity). How can I go about securely formatting my phone to make that data unrecoverable, yet without bricking the device?

Well, consider a harddrive. It is possible to recover a lot of files after being wiped, and the wipe from the internal recovery doesn't at all (to my knowledge) remove any internal media (files). If of course the recovery doesn't have a added feature to delete partitions i suppose.
And of course, external third part software can recover the files you once deleted, like this: Enter Youtube > search for recover deleted files android. You will find lots of result of how to recover images as a example.
You would need to find a way to unrecoverably delete the files you don't want to share when you sold it, or you could take advantage of the statistics of the fact that quite many people don't know how to recover files.

hey guys
I'm completely desperate. Here's what happened the last two days:
Yesterday my Fairphone suddenly became very slowly and then wouldn't boot no more. Since then every time I try to start my phone, I get the message "process system doesn't react" or something like that. The only thing thats working is the recovery mode.
Today I wanted to make a complete backup so that I can make a hard reset afterwards. But then I had to realize, that the recovery mode isn't able (or I'm not able to see how) to make a backup on an external sd card but only on the internal storage (which is also called sd card which confused me about an hour).
The problem now is that I have a backup but I can't get it on my computer or on my external sd card and so it will be deleted too if I make a hard reset.
I searched the internet for hours and found out, that it is possible to somehow remote control the phone via adb. I read that the phone has to be in "usb debugging mode". I can just put my phone into adb sideload mode or however its called by choosing "update with adb" in the recovery menu.
Is this the reason why my "adb pull" command isn't working? It just says "error: closed". Or is it because I haven't wrote right the path of the backup file? (I used: /mnt/sdcard/userdata_20130801_134656.backup)
Please help me! I have tried so much already, my brain is sizzling:silly:
I'm working on a Mac and have installed sdk.
Thanks in advance!!!

EDIT:
Just to close this topic and maybe help other people with the same issue:
I finally managed to pull the /data folder using adb. What I didn't know was that the backup file (and all pictures, videos, music and so on too) is stored on the internal sd card which isn't affected by the factory reset in the recovery menu. What I also found out was that the backup file (that I had created during the "bootloop" or whatever it was) was corrupted. So the backup logically broke my FP again after I restored from it.
So the solution, as mentioned above, was to pull the /data folder which contains all important user data such as wifi passwords, contacts, messages and so on
I hope it helps

Pre-history: my son's Pocophone F1 running Lineage OS 18.1 had some battery issues last weekend - due to aging.
The battery meter was starting to showi inconsistent readings (10% before reboot, 24% after reboot into System).
Now, on Monday, after a full charge and reboot, the phone keeps booting into the bootloader.
I can still boot into the TWRP recovery. From there, when selecting "Reboot" and System, the recovery says, that there is no OS available. )-:
From within TWRP I can mount Data and activate MTP, then the phone is recognized by the Windows File Explorer and I can see the Folder "Internal Storage". It is empty however, TWRP shows a size of 113.791 Bytes for Data.
1. Is there any hope to recover data as photos
1a. e.g. by using PhotoRec/TestDisk (have to find a way to assign a drive letter to Internal Storage though)?
1b Would re-installing th OS wipe all data (internal storage)?
(Never experienced such a behavior before, I used Cyanogen / Lineage OS since many years on several device of various manufacurers)
Help is very welcome

So far I haven't been able to recover pics from a phone... but the last time I'd rather blame Samsung's Android for it (couldnt access FS at all)... Pictures from +3yrs *poof* gone!
Don't want to bother you with "No backup, no mercy"... but you should consider some backup. I use
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syncthing
It doesn't help you with recovery right now though...
Thanks for the answer. I should probably use an extra SD card again and let the camera store the photos there. So, when the partions in the internal flash storage the phone are damaged, I could still access the SD card. And this i should combine with external backup, of couse...
Regarding backup:
Well, for photos I use to use Acronis Mobile Backup - on all other phones - but not in the case of my son for some reason. Anyway, I am going to have a look at Syncthing, because AMB has problems with browsing the backup files via Windows Explorer. For contacts and calendar items i use DAVx5 in connection with Nextcloud. Probably it is easy to make Syncthing work with Nextcloud as well.
