Hello,
I apologize in advance if there's a better spot for this, but I am looking for an entry point to accomplish this, so please point me in the right direction if this would be better suited elsewhere (was torn between here and software)
I currently have an Xtrons tq700l, which includes the tef6686 chip for radio reception.
I've looked into it quite a bit, and I've seen people using the tef6686 to receive shortwave broadcasts with excellent results on PCs.
I would like to edit the frequency table/spacing, so the AM broadcast band uses 5khz stepping and can go up to 28mhz (since I don't expect app makers to add a separate SW tab, as this is sorta a niche desire, I'd just extend the AM band to include SW and use SW stepping)
I've installed a few replacement applications, and notice they all respect the region setting as set in the car settings menu, so I assume this rules out simply editing the radio tuner application itself.
So the question comes down to, where exactly is the radio region actually stored? It almost seems like this would likely be in an XML file somewhere with the ranges and stepping, but with these head units, all bets are off.
Any direction one can provide that can get me going in the right direction would be extremely appreciated.

Why is it that you need a gps reciever to use with an XDA/XDA II? Is AGPS (AGPS triangulates position from the towers) not available for GSM?
There are 2 resons for not wanting to rely on gsm network tower info:
1. The info (cell broadcast) is not sent with every network
2. Its not close that precise as true gps
There is a swiss site that has made an application that uses network info for positioning.
Cant remember the name though
Some infos...
AGPS is called asissted gps, which means the GPS receiver ( which is still a piece of hardware, which is not included in current phones ) uses GSM location information to find it's poistion, this makes the GPS receiver "lighter" and faster.
This service will cost money, as the provider will not give the information for free.
GSM location info based on triangulation is something different, and indeed not very reliable.
Alex
Thanks
I was just curious. If you can remember the name of the swiss site that would be fantastic. I have the sense of direction similar to a cockroach with no head, so if it were to be accurate within 1/2 mile, that would be good enough for me. I don't need it soo bad that I have to buy a GPS, but if it were available by just installing some software, well that would be a different story. Anyway, thanks soo much again!
Found the site in my history:
http://gknavigation.de
(sorry: not swiss, it is in german . . .)
Look under 'Navig. Software'in the menu at the right side
a-gps default value
If any affects are known with changing the default value of agps in build.prop.superuser please let me know and also exactly what is the change doing to the hardware is there any benefit or should i stick with the default value of 2
manual agps config
Hi everyone
I'm new and a bit lost and overwhelmed being new to android.
I recently bought a Malata Zpad T6 with GPS and 3G running a Malata ROM of 2.2.
I'm having a few issues with the GPS. It works. I've used the GPS status app which picks up loads of satellites but Google maps is way off. (I live in northern Ireland and it shows my location as somewhere in the north sea.)
When I press the locate button with GPS module off/on Google maps says my location is unavailable.
Could someone give me some help please? Or guidance to sources that will help me.
I have a Orange UK sim in the pad so I'd like to use AGPS. Can I manually configure this? I'd read about the GPS.config file. Does anyone know if this can be manually set up?
Finally, sorry if I posted this in the wrong place. I've been searching xda for days trying to find a solution.
I'm using a
Sorry all, I think I posted this in the wrong forum but I can't see how to move or delete it! I will repost in the correct forum

Hi all,
I am working on an application that calculates your position using the location of the cell towers. The trouble is that with Windows Mobile I can only seem to find the current cell ID that the phone is connected to. There doesn't appear to be a way to get the neighbouring cell ID's and details. I have looked around and found some hacks but they are not guaranteed to work on every phone. I really need something that will work on all WM phones (I am actually targetting WM 6.X)
I know there is code out there that calculates your position using the single cell ID but that only returns your position based on the actual cell and I currently have this working with OpenCellID. What I want to do is get the location of at least 3 cells and then triangulate combined with a weighted centroid calculation to give a more accurate position.
This can be done on other phones and I have managed to get the CELL ID's on a Nokia S60 phone and I know of a similar application on the Blackberry that does the same but I want to target WM as I have moved away from S60. It just seems that WM phones don't support this feature although I believe that the phone core does through AT commands but without security access, there is no way to get this information from the phone.
Any help appreciated.
Dave...
Hello. I wasn't sure where the best place to post this so I am starting here.
I have a Touch Pro 2 and absolutely love it. I flash the phone every time a new ROM is released from the Chef I like and have been able to overcome most obstacles but I have one that is sticking me.
I bought a TomTom One XL and one of the biggest selling points for me was that it can update traffic using the Blu-Tooth of your phone and do all sorts of nifty stuff including rerouting you around accidents and such. It is a paid service and I am paid up through next year. It worked fine even with my old Motorola Razr and it has worked ONCE with my TP2. The phone pairs with no issues. Then there is a setup to go through where it asks among other things the phone model. The Touch Pro is on there but not the Touch Pro 2. There are also several other HTC phones on the list as well. It will then try to guess the correct settings to communicate with wherever the traffic info comes from.
What really gets me is that I don't see how this is phone dependent. If it is blu tooth and it pairs, what is the hangup? I use T Mobile and there are options of what connection to use like "TMobile 1" 2 3 4 ect. I have tried every possible combination. TomTom support won't help because the phone isn't on the list. Tmobile Tier 3 are actually pretty knowledgable but haven't been able to help so far. Any suggestions? I am happy to provide screenshots or any other info for anyone that might be able to help. Thanks!
Hi
I dont know cause I dont use this but...
Did you try to use a different phone selection in setup rather than the TP because I think the TP2 has a different bluetooth stack so its quite different from the TP.
I use a software called Salling Clicker and to make it work I have to use a generic WM5 (Broadcom) selection in the setup.
Try to find a Phone (with the right resolution? probably not an issue for this software.) that uses the broadcom bluetooth stack. And see how that goes.
Good luck.
I have been told that the G4 contains this chip but AT&T has not activated it for anyone. Is there any way to do this? Not to familiar with it at all, I know some versions have it but some don't.
I've read all kinds of things about it, some say that the Carrier's will actually short or remove connections from the FM chip so there is basically no way to enable it. I don't know what is fact and what is speculation. I don't think anybody does to be honest. Short of the carriers engineers.
That being said I was looking at the build prop file and noticed a line that said ro.fm.transmitter=false
I'm really tempted to change the false to true, but I don't want to mess anything up. That, and it can't be that simple. If it was, someone would've figured it out by now.

This setting is for an FM transmitter which is not present in any variant of G4 - meaning it does not transmit the audio FROM the phone to the external FM receiver (remember? some Nokias had this in the past).
There is no setting in build.prop in my D815 EU for FM radio. I suppose it's actually removed from the software. There isn't any separate audio chip - it's built into Qualcomm. Firmware disables it. Perhaps there is an entry in the MISC partition (mmcblk0p22) which configures all features (have taken a look in a HEX editor but no apparent entry for FM radio).
It is a px5 running Android 9
I'm not very tech savvy so don't expect me to know much about anything. The USB port doesn't work for my my phone. It's brand new so I don't understand why it wouldn't read anything. The radio barely picking up local stations even though the antenna from the car is plugged in. The microphone isn't loud for Bluetooth calls so the people on the other line can't hear me. Any help on any of these issues is greatly appreciated.
What have you tried in effort of solving issues?
Also, what does reseller/tech support recommend?
We can't guess what model unit you have, how it was installed and what you have tried.
For the radio, go into factory settings. The standard password is 126 I believe. Go to radio and make sure the correct country is selected. Mine was set to Russia and I’m in America. Changed it to America and it works perfect. Just be careful, don’t go changing settings that you don’t know what they are in factory settings lol
