OEM Unlocking option is missing from Beta 3 on SM-G981U1 - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Apologies in advance if this the incorrect place to post this.
I bought an unlocked US S20 5G (SM-G981ULBAXAA) from Amazon a few weeks ago and immediately upgraded to the Beta as soon as I got it. I distinctly remember that OEM Unlocking option was available under Android 10/OneUI 2.5 but it is gone from Beta 3 in Dev Options. I filed a ticket with Samsung's Beta program but not much of a response there.
Did anyone else notice this? Is this only a temporary thing for a duration of the Beta or is this going to be permanent?

I dont think there is oem unlocking option since the day 1.

USA models (including your "unlocked" u1) have locked bootloaders, there is no unpaid unlocking regardless of firmware.
I found the same thing on my mine i got from Google store.
No eSim either lol
Samsung has no intention of allowing oem unlock on US models

On exynos it's there. S20U beta 5.

That's only for Exynos variants and a handful of Asian Snapdragon variants. None of the US editions of any S20 model have OEM Unlocking available by default. Those with US S20 models need to get in touch with one of the unlocking services available, they cost anywhere from $100-$150 USD.

Galaxy S9/S9+ Exynos G960F/G965F/FD OEM Unlock present?

Hello,
As the title states, Galaxy S9/S9+ G960/G965FD Exynos users, is the OEM Unlock present? Anyone ordered the Exynos Version from eBay can confirm too?
I'm waiting to pull the trigger from eBay if no Data Points are provided.
Phones bought from Clove.co.uk does have the OEM Unlock. So no problems for stock sourced from UK.
PS: I know the Note 8 Exynos OEM Unlock issue from past year, as i encountered and reported it first.

I bought a G965fd on Ebay that comes from Taiwan. I don't see an OEM Unlock option in the setting. I can use my it, but unable to connect to AT&T's LTE network in LA. Though when I switch to a foreign SIM card (not from Taiwan), it can connect to LTE in the second slot in data roaming. So hope this helps.

I bet will we see the same trend on the S9, clove devices are okay, Korean devices are okay but the majority of dual sims bought on Ebay will still have the 7 day jail time.
At least once jail is over there is a fix to keep oem unlock there thanks to Dr Ketan

Bought S9+ Exynos on eBay via nevermsrp. It is a Taiwanese model and it is missing OEM unlock due to RMM. Will have to wait 7 days.

Yeah, it's same on every model in eBay. After 7 days, you can unlock it then root it and apply OEM fix from @BlackMesa123 and it sticks. No need of any specific file or script. Tried on my device and it worked like a charm. But i had to return the device for a plus version and i got to do the waiting again lol.
Hello. I bouth it in Ebay Duos Verison G965F Samsung S9 plus, I think is exynos, and no problem finally to unlock and root??
Thanks.

What is The Difference Between Chinese & Global Variant

Xiaomi dramatically release a lot of variant in Running Redmi note lineup.
Note 5 pro as indian variant, another one is
Note 5 as chinese also known as Note 5 Ai
and the other one is Redmi note 5 Global.
There is a lot of noticeable difference
between Chinese and global version.
But Its really hard to notice difference
between Chinese & global version.
So My Question is,
I can consider chinese rom,
Which one would be better for me?
I mean Any Disadvantages on
Redmi note 5 global compared to
The note 5 chinese?
Global version and Chinese version differ only in network bands. If you add two LTE bands B4 and B20 to chinese version, it will become global version. That's it. If you don't need those two bands you can order the Chinese version.

Thanks for this clear and concise answer. I don't need band 20 or band 4 LTE and Ordered the Global version.
Just cancelled it to reorder the Chinese version from Aliexpress - -$25 difference and it comes with an unlocked bootloader...
Custom Roms here I come...

Be aware, there are fake unlocked bootloader devices being sold through 3rd party re-sellers! Do a bit of research here on Guides and News section I think on RN5 forums and you'll see. The safest case would be to buy completely stock device (locked bootloader) and proceed to unlock it on your own. Now, your device might really be unlocked, but it is a known practice for Xiaomi devices to get sold with fake UBL. I hope you don't get scammed, because it's a pain in the *ss to get rid of that fake ubl.

Thanks for the timely info, I have to agree with the seller that it is only properly locked bootloader or nothing

I would recommend you to buy the global version even if it costs 25 bucks extra. Things changed between then and now. So many restrictions imposed on xiaomi phones. You can't lock bootloader on chinese version if you have global rom and vice-versa. Just make sure you buy from recommended sellers (check their rating) and ask them to keep the box in sealed state o/w you may get fake roms or faked unlocked bootloader....etc.

If I have genuine Global Rom with Unlocked Boot Loader on China version, will flashing newer Global ROM be possible with an unlocked bootloader?
If it is possible, will the Newer global ROM with ARL still lock the bootloader?
I am not a MIUI fan, It is custom Rom all the way so, I want to know. I intend getting the POCO phone early Next year and may not use this one so long

Hello DR2D2,
Currently the Samsung Galaxy s9 Snapdragon U.S. models are oem locked and unable to be rooted. This has been done for all U.S. Snapdragon variants. If you would like to root your device, I would suggest buy a provider unlocked exynos version which you can find info about in other discussions on these forums.
If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask me!

Note 10 plus variants. Which one to buy to be able to root? Can't find a clear answer

Hi. Today I decided to go on eBay and buy a Note 10 Plus (here in the UK). I cannot live without root, and reading through some threads I've learned that only some variants can be rooted. I don't seem to be able to find a definite answer on existing threads, and I just want to make sure I buy the right one. Which one should I buy? Thank you.
anyone, please?
A few answers for you.
I've seen (not 1st hand) that folks here on xda with US variants have been able to use a online pay service to get their bootloaders unlocked. This may or may not apply to the UK variants.
I'm in US but went the route of purchasing the SM-N9750/DS to have root as that service didn't exist on launch of the Note 10+.
You'd want to check to see which Bands your carrier uses with which the 9750 supports and decide from there.

It appears the Unlock method is only for US variants......you could probably message them and see if UK works with their unlock service
You know what, on second thought (unless it has changed), i thought UK variants were all unlockable......
Maybe that changed....I'm not sure
Thanks for your answers. I've been reading some more and it seems that Exynos ones are easy to unlock and the Snapdragon ones you have to use those online paid methods. Is this correct? Which variant one has more ROM development? Exynos I suppose?
Yes Exynos has way more development. (Virtually none for the Snapdragon), and yup, US and Canadian Snapdragons are locked bootloaders....while the Brazilian, Chinese and a few more international Snapdragons are unlockable like the Exynos. From my limited understanding, the Exynos variants don't perform on par with the Snapdragons...so that's something else to consider.

Is there a Galaxy S20+ 5G (international)? If not what version is US new. I want OEM unlock.

Where can I buy a Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus (International Version) if there is one and does it work with At&t 5G.
If not it is fine. What version will it come with if I get the US version (New) as I want to get it OEM unlock. On that note, wonder how much the service is to unlock the boatloader. Prefer to buy it on Amazon from a safe seller if possible. Thanks for any and all info.
Probably nowhere. AT&T is becoming increasingly hostile towards Samsung phones they don't sell, especially those not intended for the US market: https://www.att.com/idpassets/images/support/wireless/Devices-Working-on-ATT-Network.pdf.
I don't think there is any reliable way to know what bootloader/software versions will arrive on a phone before you receive it; the versions shipped seem to quietly advance based on production date.
