Redmi Note 9 Pro booting to recovery after trying to remove bloatware - Redmi Note 9 Pro (International Model) General and

Hi!
I tried to remove a bunch of Xiaomi and Google bloatware on my Redmi Note 9 Pro. I folllowed the lines of https://www.allaboutxiaomi.com/how-to-remove-bloatware-without-root-on-your-xiaomi-redmi-device/ and removed what I thought would be inoffensive removals: Mi Video, Mi Sound, Mi Notes and stuff like that.
Now my phone boots to recovery, leaving the options of Wipe Data and Connect with MIAssistant. Tha latter does not work - I don't know why because I have a MI account.
Device is not unlocked.
Any help would be appreciated. Of course I would like NOT to erase the data.
Best,
benedict

Hello, I'm not 100% sure, but you could reflash the system with MiFlash and choose below you want to keep your data!

if you were unlocked, you could push adb the security center apk in TWRP, or adb sideload, but you can't you need it unlocked to do that.
Seems factory reset is the answer.

Is this the legit website?

idk, but you cant use miflash tool you are not unlocked.

Oh man! What did I do?
I could launch the adb shell to uninstall apps, but if I understand correctly I can't do the same to install apps?

you didn't read all documentation about removing bloatware and just followed some kid random guide online, and now you will factory reset. The End of movie. if i were you after doing this i will unlock device to have control over it because as i wrote before about adb sideload pushing etc.

You're right. Thing is I looked a bit in the forums here but couldn't find a good guide.
Any idea though why MiAssistant doesn't work?

About unlocking: that required a data wipe so I was lazy to do it properly... My bad.

There's no place for lazy people when customizing device man, apps can be reinstalled Gstore saves history of them so it is easy to see last installed, music is on spotify or smth like that, images docs etc just transfer to laptop, Yes for unlocking device you will have to factory reset again. Miassistant never works i dont know what is it for XD as soon as i got my 9s i unlocked it and thats the end of movie full control over a device i bought with my money.

you cant, just wipe data = factory reset, and after that start again your phone.

Man.... get this clear you f*cked the device up, the only way is to factory reset which will delete all data. FULL PERIOD.

No need to be agressive. I just quoted you "images docs etc just transfer to laptop".

The truth is always harsh to accept. backup is made before doing something to the device, in your case your only way is to factory reset.

Can you reboot to Fastboot ?

If it ain't broken, don't repair it...

Yes I can reboot to fastboot.

Odd & problematic behaviour after 6.0 update Any ideas ?

First of all, I salute everybody that chips in to this comunity, active or less ! G'day, gents !
And now, to the problem(s) :
I have a stock 16g/2g D855 (Romania/Orange), no root, no tweaks, nothing, except an original battery change couple of months back.
My phone didn't take OTA updates, don't know why, but i've been updating it via PC Suite / Mobile Support Tool.
Last update was 5.0, all was fine.
Now, on the other hand, after the update to 6.0, a small hell broke loose.
First of all, until now, after the power on LG image, i had a small LG animation, now it has changed to some stupid Orange explosion crap + wallpaper. That doesn't bother me that much, but the fact that whatever wallpaper i choose, it changes it back to the Orange one right after restart...
Second, and third, and fourth & fifth ...
QuickCircle apps no longer work (even though they are activated and selected), so my "submarin"ish flip case is useless... Facedetection, no reaction... KnockCode, same thing, doesn't even lock the phone, no matter the security type. I can't even change my Display Off style anymore. Developer Options, gone, not available for this user (altough user is owner) and clicking hundreds of times on build no. doesn't do anything. Notification bar, no kind of available selection on it (like wifi or data, etc), except user & the notification button in the button bar doesn't even slide it down. Plus a couple more of these "small unfortunate events" :silly:
But the biggest problem is that when and if i turn on the wifi, the phone almost instantly restarts, and keeps doing so if i'm not fast on the touch and disable it (like split second after finshing boot) and thus becoming an unusable plastic...:crying:
So i've tried reinstalling the update, via Recovery Upgrade two times (all went smooth) but problems are still there. I'm starting to think that this might be a something wrong with the update. Eitherway, main concern is, what do i do now ? Wireless is 30% of my job...
Specifing that i'm pretty much a noobie at this kind of stuff, thank you all for taking the time to read about my problem !:highfive:
the software may be having some issues, i recommend that you download the kdz file for the software and flash it via flashtool, all problems should be fixed and the o2 bloat will be removed.

It doesn't require root.
But it would certainly wipe everything including your internal sd. The only way is to take a backup using any app and moving the backup files temporarily to a pc or any other external storage.

Ok, seems logical. Any advice about some software that cand do that properly ?
I mean all & all. Accounts, passwords, contacts and so on...because I can't remember my Google account pass (or any other one for that matter) for the life of me, and the maps to the nav app are a pain to dld.
And besides that, can the backup be actually performed, since i can't access the Developer Debug Mode ?

There are many apps on the play store for taking backups. You can use the to take backups of apps, contacts, messages and so on.
However to backup accounts, passwords and app data you require a rooted device and could use titanium backup.

Well then that's out of the question... Having no data plan, any Play Store installation is ruled out, could probably be done via PC Suite.
I've tried using Helium, doesn't do much good. I'm thinking about rooting the phone, but with my luck, i'll probably brick it.
I wonder if there's anyway to find my Google account pass...
L.E. according to devtester, LGD855 MyIMEI A6RRTN D85530C_00 (D85530C_00_0211) is the latest version for it, pretty much the same as my last update. So ,do i re.dld this one and flash it or i go with the D85530B_00_1217 from the Quick Download page ?
L.E.2 : So far i've tried both kdz files mentioned above, plus D85521C_00_1204.kdz (Lollipop). All unsuccesful. In Download Mode, using Flash Tool as is, selecting Normal than Start. The Marshmallows kdz show the exact same problems and Lollipop doesn't even want to install. It goes up tu 4% on Pc (0 on phone) and Retry appears until Exit.
Aw man, the truth MUST be out there...

Thanks for the link, but i managed to somehow solve the problem :good:
ok, so it took some time, but finally figured this bugger out.
For anyone that needs assistance in the future, let me know and i'll support you as much as i can.
It took me 2 crazy noobie a** days, and almost lost everything, but somehow i managed not to.
So, from the start, let me just say that Remember Password on FF was heaven for me.
Mainly, for not losing everything, you definetly NEED to know your Google account. For me it was setup before to back everything up, but somehow, i forgot the pass This is where i used my PC and logged in to G+ (again, thank God for pass remembering) and reset the pass by sms. Spot on !:victory:
Then connect your phone via usb and within PC Suite (Lg Bridge didn't work for me btw) drag & drop everything from Phone to PC. Apps, contacts, messages, all.
Next, the only sofware that actually worked in flashing my G3 was LGUP. Had some problems with it by not recognising my phone, but i found a version that worked.
Once that done, i removed the Sd Card, entered Download mode and tried flashing D85530B_00_1217.kdz (MM) by selecting Upgrade. That din't work. Same problems. Tried it again, but this time selecting Refurbish (wich wipes out everything) and voila ! Alive & kickin' !
Then it's just a matter of patience resetting your phone back. Enter the Google account with your freshly changed pass and the phone will basically ask you to restore itself back.
This was a long story short, but if anyone needs more detailed aspects, let me know.
The only thing i didn't figure out yet is why the Orange bloated kdz had Slow Mo option for camera and this standard one doesn't.
Thanks to everybody for their support and the community for hosting us !

of course, you have two types of apps by saying someway, from Google you can delete almost all except PlayServices, PlayStore and look at in your list of apps in setting most necessary have a simple icon of green android, not a special logo by i.e. PlayMusic, those apps don`t delete cause are neccesary to download, sync or other functions relative to PlayStore and in second place you have chinese apps, strangely those with chinese letters you can delete like reader, music, books, shopping but don`t delete micloud or yellow page. This app tell you what you can delete, just be careful, don`t sweeps with all..

But how many apps did you delete, you don't more that 4 or 5 from system, wich can uninstall normal don't make conflict. I was lookinkg at this app and it seems a little extremely, says that contacts provider could be uninstall, I think that not is good, don't follow it blindly, use common sense or things go bad. Solution: this app put deleted app in a folder in sdcard, go to recovery, go to files manager and put again certain apps on /system/apps, probably just 1 or 2 be necessary.

Excuse, I was so busy, sorry for recommend this app, it`s a shame, it`s incredibly what apps could uninstall according this app.
What I mean is that this app put deleted files in a folder with same name in sdcard, you can restore them going to recovery and putting them via adb in system again and setting necessary permissions to go on again for not to flash all the rom but probably you`re not familiar with that.
Now "borned" a new build 7.1.12 that it`s better than this version, I flashed it on my device and if you install via fastboot I tell you what apps I remove and I have no problem just that system every time you power on devices warns a security risk, just click understand and go on.
All the apps that you can remove normally from settings/downloaded apps can be deleted, and the next apps that I removed if you want; From /system/app; Chrome, Drive, Duo, MiDiscover, MiPlay..From /system/priv app; MiDrop. Mipub, MiuiHome (if you don`t like, just you must have other launcher), velvet, YellowPage and these that inttegrated with system but I don`t use; Google Photos, Music, Movies, then go to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache

Recover photos from my internal storage

I accidentally deleted my some important photos from my device and I also factory reset my phone..Now is there any way to get back my photos? My phone is not rooted. I have tried some apps like wondershare, phone lab. But I failed. Please help me
There are some special tools like for example "MobiSaver" from EaseUS, but chances to successfully restore most or even some data are rather low.
Edit: I wouldn't recommend any of them, MobiSaver just was an example. IMHO most paid recovery apps are just pure scam.

I wouldn't recommend apps from Wondershare to anybody, they are often labeled as scam company on the net. Most of those recovery tools are kinda scam, their free test versions always find lots of data to recover, but the paid apps won't recover anything or produce lots of garbage.
Edit: Always make backups at least once a week of important pictures and documents!

WhatsApp not working!

Well, I do not know when or how but Whatsapp app is broken on my device! Just not starting anymore, I only get some force crash screen of about 1 second and that's it...
I have a Note 8T with latest EEA software 12.5.4.0 MIUI 12.5, rooted with Magisk, custom recovery (OrangeFox)
Funny story but enabling dual apps for Whatsapp, basically another user, I managed to start and use the app, as a secondary app because the base app is still dead!
Now, my question is:
How do I get Whatsapp to function normally again???
Things I tried:
1. clean cache and data - no fix
2. uninstall/ install app - no fix
3. enable miui optimizations - no fix
4. fix/ repair data partition in OrangeFox recovery - no fix
Is there anything else I could try in order to fix this issue? It might be somehow related with the user part of the data partition? But why only this app is affected then?
I'm just baffled by this turn... don't know what to do anymore...

when you reboot, the package manager will delete the app leftover
the app crash because there is some data left from a previous version
try deleting "com.whatsapp" folder from

also whatsapp folder on internal storage

But, now, it worked without deleting anything except the dropbox content you mentioned earlier!
It just went smooth, install, setup, restore backup and all without a glitch!

Anyway, I would really love to know how was this possible in the first place as I did nothing specially regarding this app... and found myself in this situation of not being able to use it anymore... why only this app? Was something some update maybe that broke something?

Question Data restore after unsuccessful Android 12 update, bug 12 rkq1.211119.001, help is needed :(

Hi, I don't know if it's the right place to ask for help, but I'll still try.
A couple of days ago while travelling I updated my OnePlus 9 Pro with the latest update of Android 12 not knowing that update was apparently quite buggy as I found out later. Previously all updates have always run smoothly on my phones, so I wasn't really cautious about it. As a result after update phone didn't work anymore, it started always to vibrate after giving sim card PIN kinda trying to start (similar to the sound of whirring hard drive), but it couldn't go beyond the home screen's wallpaper. As I needed my phone, I had to choose "Format user data" under Wipe data from the boot menu as there weren't any other options under Wipe. I got a working phone after that, but I lost all my data.
So the question is: is there a way to restore videos and photos from the gallery (my photos weren't synchronizing to Google Photos) after this formatting? And more precisely, eg. by using DroidKit Data recovery tool I can perform only quick recovery unrooted, which doesn't find any files from the gallery. There is an option to perform a deep recovery, but for that I need to root my phone. Rooting apparently requires bootloader unlocking, which most likely wipes all phone data anyway without possibility to restore.
And more questions: would a deep recovery even find those gallery files, if the phone would be rooted? If bootloader unlocking wipes all data completely, so it wouldn't be possible to restore any data after that for sure? Is there an option to perform a deep scan without a phone being rooted? Is there an option to root without bootloader unlocking? There are some apps, which don't really do automatic rooting, and they aren't trustworthy, despite they say that they can root phones in seconds.
I definitely have learned from this recent experience, and I will do better in the future.
I think most likely it's not possible to restore my photos and videos I lost in this case, but I just had to ask to make sure, there are no more tricks I can use... Any thoughts? Thanks!
I would think there would be an app in the app store that would recover your photos and videos without root since they are to located in the root drive. It may take a few tries to find the right app. Good luck. That is why I routinely backup everything on my internal storage to the PC just for this reason.
Your storage is encrypted. There is no way to recover the files as the factory reset generated new keys when wiping the storage. Sorry for the bad news. Make sure to make backups before taking updates in the future is all anyone can suggest.

Thank you for the reply! I just wonder, why then everywhere on so many websites they say, it's possible to recover data after factory reset? But as I tried it seems impossible as you say.
Just one example: https://www.hardreset.info/devices/...possible-to-recover-data-after-factory-reset/.

I mean a lot of those places just copy and paste info to drive clicks. Android didn't always encrypt userdata.

I've tried many of those before, but they don't see gallery photos nor videos at all after phone factory reset, though they claim they can do that. What these apps can see and recover in my experience are call history, documents, audio files, sms (all of these things were recovered anyway from the phone backup), photos and videos from Whatsapp (which I don't need as its' chats were backed up before that update). Some of them offer a deep recovery (don't know what a deep scan would find in the end), which requires phone to be rooted, and that requires bootloader unlocking, which will wipe storage for good anyway, so basically all those apps are useless.
